Emma get that bread! ad the midrolls, I'll watch them for u 🥺❤️
Stigmata?.....u forget that one
i didnt include many Ramiro! these are just 20!
My silly brain is combining Skillshare with Beetlejuice. Possession: learn to throw your voice, fool your friends, fun at parties.
I love these kind of vedios and you really have beautiful eyes and a great voice
I think Devil is underrated. Not many films set almost completely in a lift can hold my attention.
Elevators still scare me because of this damn movie lol
Love Devil. Definitely underrated.
It’s garbage
I agree super underrated
True elevated horror
Although the original Evil Dead is a classic, Fede Álvarez’s gritty and brutal take on Evil Dead (2013) goes down as my favorite possession film. I found the story about Mia trying to overcome her own demons (both literally and figuratively) genuinely gripping, and the amount of gore…holy hell, they did not leave anything up to the imagination
I'll disagree. It was fine but I feel like part of what made the original so good is how fun it was. And the remake just took away all the fun aspects and made it way too serious.
I'm in the minority in that I don't like the first Evil Dead it's a terrible film (the 2nd however is a different story and is my all time favorite horror) but I thought the 2013 remake was way better.
We r soo muchh on the same pageee hereeee!!..i agreee!!..and it is so underrated..the gore the jumpscares everything is so niceee
Black coats daughter is one of my favorites!
I love that one!
hell yeah!
I screamed when you included Exorcism of Emily Rose. I LOVE that movie! I honestly feel like it doesn't get the respect it deserves because of when it came out but I really think it's a terrific film and Jennifer Carpenter is truly amazing in it! The stuff she can do with her body is haunting! More people NEED to watch that movie! Also, to this day, I still wake up at 3 in the morning and get scared out of my wit's end. Honestly that movie f'd me up ore than i thought lol.

u a legend
Really glad Possesion(1981) made the list, hope you’ll review this one someday- there’s so much to talk about this film
Great list, so happy The Blackcoat's Daughter was included! It's one of my favourites, I've seen it around 3 or 4 times and got something new out of it each time. The ending I still find to be very powerful and depressing
Great list. The Exorcism of Emily Rose still scares me to this day too.
Same. That part where she first gets attacked at the college scares the crap outta me
Thanks for remind me i really need to try and watch that movie again because the first time i feel asleep😂
same!
I had to sleep with the lights on for a little while after watching that movie. Saw it when it was released and never again! I literally got a little jolt seeing that clip in this video xD
The Exorcism of Emily Rose is a great possession movie, possibly my favourite.
I really liked "The Shrine" (2010). I know not everyone did. It starts off very by the numbers, but it's suitably creepy, and there's a point where it ramps up and becomes something entirely new.
I loved that movie and almost everyone I try to talk to about it has never seen it! I thought the visuals at the end were really unexpected and unique.
Special Agent Bill Maxwell , yes I loved the shrine. It’s atmosphere and unique take was enjoyable for me.
I swear I watched The Shrine three times and every time i watch it I forget about it :(
"The Devil's Candy" is frickin great. Satan and metal AF. "Blackcoat"/"February" will appease people who like "The Witch"-esque movies and is great, imo. Also, don't take that "Deliver Us From Evil" recommendation lightly. Great film, based on a true story, and accessible.
P.S. - I like "Devil"....
Thanks!
I came here specifically to mention Fallen, but since I've seen it has been mentioned a few times already I feel that it has a good amount of respect.
I'll look into watching Luz, Possesion 81, and Demon.
Additionally I'll rewatch Starry Eyes and Stigmata prompted by fellow commentators.
Keep up the fun content!
🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
It isn't a movie but The Exorcist (the tv show) is really fantastic especially season 2. You should check it out if you haven't.
I'd definitely argue it to be better than the original movie.
I agree, the actors were fantastic and I liked that the second season took a different approach. Shame there wasn't a third actually
Ayyyy, another fan! Really bummed it got cancelled but what we got is quality! S1 is a great throwback and S2 is just a great continuation.
It's so underrated !
Yesss.. big fan, second season was awesome
I watched the first couple of eps but never finished it!
Possession is my least favorite subgenre in horror, but I looooove the blackcoat's daughter and the approach it takes with the possession aspect. I would like you to do a video about horror movies about witches.
Thanks for the suggestion!
omg yes i second this motion, i’m constantly looking for more witch movies!!!!
I really love "Deliver Us From Evil" and I think it was done pretty well and was legit scary. I think it's pretty underappreciated.
Event horizon is technically a possession movie.
Guilty pleasure that one.
Others have said this!
I love event horizon! Sam Neil makes it on to the list once already though 🙌🏻
Such a great film I feel like i'm the only person that loves this film sometimes so underrated. It's the first film I can think of apart from Alien that combines my 2 favourite genres horror and sci fi, I wish there were more films that crossed the 2 together.
Te possession of Michael King was a recent kind of found footage horror movie. It was a big surprise for me. Really good
I wasn’t a fan of this one :( I rewatched it hoping to add it to the list but I just don’t like it :(
I liked it when I first watched it, but then I rewatched it and didn’t like it lol
I agree, I really liked it. I didn't have very high expectations for it but I was pleasantly surprised by how creepy it was. And the main actor was really good.
"Possession" is one of my all time favorites! It means something different to me every time I watch it.
I've been thinking about buying this film 😁 I've heard it's so good and intense. Kind of makes you feel intense anxiety throughout? 😂
When I was about 7 years old, way before I'd ever seen a horror movie, I saw an ad on TV for a film called 'Beyond The Door' with Juliet Mills. The ad scared me so bad I had nightmares for years. Shudder in America just added this film. It's terrible, but the possession scenes are actually pretty scary. Check it out.
Scared me too! Still scared to watch the ad on youtube
I know why the Exorcism of Emily Rose is so intense. Just watch the scene where Jennifer Carpenter is listing the names. Jennifer Carpenter just crushes it. Thanks for the list Emma. The absolutely creepiest and weirdest possession film I've ever seen is Roman Polanski's The Tenant. Please thank me AFTER you've seen it. (It also stars Isabelle Adjani.) It's the film he made immediately after running away from America, and it is his guilt coming to get him. It has imagery that I have never seen in another film. My vote for scariest film ever. (And funny.)
So many people have recommended this to me, Im not sure if i have seen it? Either way it's due a watch !
@@spookyastronauts watch that one1
@@spookyastronauts Oh you'd remember if you ever saw it.
Jennifer Carpenter was great in the TV series Dexter too (sad that the show dropped in quality late in it's run).
Like always, Great list! Your thumbnail 'creepy black possession eyes' are effectively unnerving and a most excellent touch! Keep having fun and making kick ass recommendations!
Yay finally!! Thank you for this Emma. I've been craving for a list of possession movies from you!
Hope you enjoy them!
Actress in "Possession" (1981) is terrific and terrifying. Crazy.
I always enjoy your recommendation lists. I’ll definitely have to seek out some of these titles for the first time. I also enjoyed the REC series, The Vatican Tapes, The Possession of Hannah Grace, and a film that’s on Shudder called Belzebuth. Congratulations and a shout out to my Australian friends for getting Shudder recently too! It’s a great place for horror!
I was really expecting The Possession with Jeffrey Dean Morgan. That's one of my faves.
Oh cool I haven’t seen that one! Thank you
spookyastronauts i just recommended this one too! Great film!
Its on amazon prime :)
I was waiting for this film 😭 I thought it was so cool! And it has a Jewish Exorcism !
Saaaame!
I would definitely have added “Requiem” a 2006 German horror/drama. It’s actually the story of Anne Liese Michael, which was the inspiration for The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Very good.
Hey! I’ve reviewed this one and spoke about it recently too, didn’t want to keep adding it in
spookyastronauts Cool. Would you mind telling me which video it was in? By the way, your videos are always super interesting. I discover so many movies I didn’t know about to explore, and others I had forgotten about. So a big thank you
I came to this channel while randomly looking up horror related videos. I'm really enjoying what I've seen so far. You have me as a new subscriber!
Welcome John!
This is one of my favorite genres. So happy you made this video!
Would be cool if you next made a list of movies with hell/religious themes. Those are generally really creepy.
yeah thats what I spoke about at the start :) will be doing that for sure
Hi 👋,
I just discovered your Channel, I'm hooked! I didn't realize how many horror movies I've missed. You're great ! I just wanted to recommend a foreign movie that I'm sure a lot of people don't know about "Shrews Nest "( it's a Spanish film) it's sort of like Misery . I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to your next video 💜
New subscriber. Just found ya tonight. Gonna love watching all your videos !
You should check out Alucarda and Dorothy Mills. Also, the third short in the anthology film The Trilogy of Terror has a unique possession story (the closing shot of Karen Black deserves to be known as "that scene").
And I know you aid no sequels, but I think The Exorcist III is really good and quite different from the original.
I watched Dorothy Mills not too long ago! I was kind of let down, but I believe I recommended it in a different video. it was wild for what it was worth!
I saw Trilogy of Terror when I was about eight years old. This was way before the movie rating system and it was left up to parents discretion on what to let their kids watch. Needless to say my parents weren't too discrete. The entry with Karen Black called "Prey" absolutely traumatised me. At the time my bedroom had floorboards and every night I went to bed I was convinced I could hear scratching noises on the floor in the corner of my room. But... it was the movie that began my lifelong love of horror movies so I can't complain.
Love Alucarda so much 🖤
Awesome! One of my favorite genres!!! The power of HORROR compels me!!!!
HELL YEAH!
Other favorite genres?
@@tigerminolz1188 I mainly stick to psychological/supernatural, with a side of cheesy horror comedy and a kick ass slasher with memorable kills to mix it up
Amazing list! I never heard some of the movies before, I'm planning to watch it.
The Possession (2015) based off a true story. So good!
interesting!
Love The Last Exorcism ! The fact that Ashley Bell did all of the contortion scenes herself made it so much more cool and believable ! Awesome list :)
Starry Eyes is an absolute amazing possession film!A must see!!
great film! ive done a stream on it! I didn't really think of it as possession but i guess technically it counts!
Oh god 😱 I've got Starry Eyes on DVD and it's very intense 😂 I need to go back to it, I think I just can't handle intense body horror 🤔 I'm not sure haha
Ms. Vague, thank you. Glad you included Burnt Offerings as well. This is one of my favorite places to visit on the net.
Great video. Awesome list that brought back so many memories of watching some of these movies when I was younger and being terrified. The Exorcist for me is a cult classic and one that I can watch time and time again and still have it hold my attention.
Great list! I LOVE your channel and I was totally waiting for you to mention the movie you didn’t lol and I totally get why you did not 😏😊
Great video! One of the films I missed on the list is The Wailing (2016). Easily one of the most traumatizing films I've ever seen.
Nice work , keep up the blunt honesty and no bs - its a rare thing now on YT . Wicked videos
Couple of films i loved last few years
0.0mhz (man that demon thing looks freaky)
A dark song - now thats a ritual i wouldnt wanna be within 5 miles of! Lol
Thank you! I will definitely check some of these out!
thanks Joe!
Yo just found your channel and its pretty cool. Keep up the good work
Great list Emma 😍 I adore your passion ha
This is such a great list!! Lots of my faves on here like the taking of Deborah logan, the last exorcism, and of course the exorcist. I can't wait to check out some of the ones I haven't heard of before!
Thanks Sophia!
Great video, I love posession films!! Will re watch this with a pen and piece of paper as there are some you mentioned I've not seen!! The Posession with Jeffery Dean Morgan is a fave of mine and recently I watched The Cleansing Hour on Shudder which was surprisingly really good!!! I'm more of an indie horror girl so Devil's Candy is one film I really liked!!!
Ive seen most of these Emma.Great list!
Another great one #Emma & I know there's a ton to choose from. Appreciate these recommendations& look forward to some of the unknown one's 🤟🔥
Thanks!
I'm so happy you mentioned Burnt Offerings it is one of my favorite films!
A couple I would include are Upgrade (yes, I think it counts as a "possession" movie based on a technicality) and Suspiria (OG and the newer one)
suspiria is about witches NOT possession
Stigmata is my favourite possession film.
awesome!
Oooo! Amazing list as always. We had Ashely Bell from The Last Exorcism on our show last week! She was awesome 🖤
Thanks again Emma for a great list of films. So many classics and glad to see three of my favorites made the list. There were also a couple that I particularly didn't care for, but that's only my personal taste. Since I love the classics, I'll definitely give "The Possession Of Joel Delaney" a look. That's one I had never heard of.
Yeah i think youll really enjoy it!
Awesome picks!!! I NEED to see taking of Taking of Deborah Logan. Just got a bluray release! Keep up the great work!!
Hope you like it!
I know you didn't want to mention sequels, but The Exorcist III: Legion is freaking amazing! And it's so underrated; it usually does get left off lists like this. I've seen it countless times and, to this day, that "nurse scene" still freaks me out! And, of course, Brad Dourif is phenomenal as Patient X!
Dude I haven’t seen it yet!!
@@spookyastronauts OMG! You absolutely have to see it! You won't be disappointed! Anytime I run into someone who hasn't seen it, I actually get jealous because you'll be seeing it for the first time! I would love to see you do a review or reaction video to this movie!
Great list (as always)
A bit sad the wailing didn't make it, for me it's one of the best horror of the last decade
Emma, I agree with you completely about the Exorcism of Emily Rose. Definitely the creepiest possession film and one of the creepiest films ever. I don't know why it's so underrated and never talked about! Good to know there is another person that appreciates it like I do :)
i'm sure you've seen it but the taking of deborah logan is a great different type of possession movie and great video as always emma. btw well played on the joke yesterday the give away though was the man's shadow on the wall to your left lmao.
thank you! and no there was no man in the room with me... at all. promise. I was alone. I did it all by myself.
@@spookyastronauts still a great gag Emma you had us all going
The Shrine (2010) and Wither (2012). Also Sam Neil never seems to catch a break in horror movies almost always endures something horrid.
Thanks ! ive seen The shrine but not Wither!
@@spookyastronauts Wither is basically a Swedish homage to Evil Dead.
I brought up both "Possession" and "Demon" in comments under your "Foreign horrors" video. Kudos to you for mentioning both movies :)
Wow such a good list Emma! There’s quite a few I haven’t heard of that I’ll definitely be looking up. I love but I find a lot of them are very similar so I find it hard to enjoy them sometimes. One great possession movie that I didn’t see you mention was The Entity from 1982, that movie was pretty disturbing and creepy too.
I didnt mention it because she doesnt get possessed? justt... ummm.... sex... but yes its a truely haunting film!
spookyastronauts oh yes you’re right she doesn’t, i was thinking more just the demon aspect sorry 😂🖤 good list though :)
Jessica Pazo it really is a scary film, I forgot there was no possession in it and yes the fact that it was based on a true story is even creepier 😱
Yes!! My dream list! I sniff this genre out like a bloodhound, and there are still a good few here that I haven't seen. Thanks so much. :) (I'm with you on Emily Rose, and not much has scared me since the Exorcist when I was 19. I watched Requiem after you recommended it to me and thought it was great.)
Yessss I loved The Devil's Candy when I watched it! I'll need to re-watch that at some point in the future. And two of my favourite horror films, The Exorcist and The Shining! This is a great list
theres at least 4 films I haven't seen on this list, so I'm super excited to go give them a watch! I have big soft spot for possession films, for whatever reason, rivalled only by my love for found footage- when they combine? Excellent
Hi Emma. That was a fun list. Definitely wanna check out Devil. BTW was the skipped film HEREDITARY;)?
;)
love to see you do a list of great monster themed movies or zombie movies.
Demon, The Devil's Candy and The Blackcoat's Daughter are all favorites I wish more people would talk about. Great picks!
thank you!
I have been following this channel for a few years now. Apart from being a awesome reviewer ; the volume she puts on every month is unbelievable. Such a beast she is. Please subscribe guys. she deserves more.
Thank you!
Haha I love Idle Hands, haven't seen it in years though!!
Emma do you do time stamps for your videos? :)
Yes! Glad you came around to The Taking of Deborah Logan : )
Very nice keep it up ❤
Great list! Have you seen Krasue: Inhuman Kiss on Netflix? Not sure if that completely counts as possession, but I really loved it.
I havent! thank you!
I love the Blackcoats Daughter and Burnt Offerings
I love possession films. There were some great all time favourite films on the list. I would like to see a video on Top 20 Giallo movies.
Great list. I might include ”The Wailing” and my personal favorite - A Dark Song (I think these qualify ... 🤷🏻♂️)
Matthew Schneider A Dark Song, while fantastic, isn't possession. It's about conjuring spirits using occult magic spells. Nobody gets possessed in it. It's a great movie, though. I found it very unique and interesting.
Fair enough. Admittedly the semantics of this conversation made me laugh.
I just came across your video. And I love your everything horror channel.
Ooohhhh. One of my fav sub-genre's. I'm looking forward to adding a bunch of new movies to my watch list. ♥️♥️
hell yeah!
great list! a movie that kind of explores possession on a very original and interesting way is Savageland.
LMAO....love the thumbnail, you look dead inside! Incidentally, WTF was going on with your live stream yesterday, I saw the door creak open and the crazy video feed flips and distortions were kinda freaky! I hope you survived it and that this vid wasn't just scheduled prior! OMG are you messing with us?
What we all want... to be told we look dead inside :P
Have never gotten around to watching Possession, but I'll always remember my Mom yelling at me in the video store as a kid because I was looking at the girl's butt on the cover. 😂
😂😂😂
loll prob because it doesn't even show the bottom 3/4ths of her butt and its weird... its all crack HAHA
Love your list. Have you seen Korean Horror ‘Metamorphosis “ 2019? Interesting take on possession. Also do have a list for Asian horror?
Yes I do! I have two! One voted by my viewers and one of hidden gems!
The scene in deborah logan i love is when the cameraman becomes the smartest in horror history and nopes out.
Glad you mentioned Deliver Us From Evil! An underrated, really good, recent horror movie 👍
The taking of Deborah Logan is so underated one of the scariest movies of all times and almost the best found footage film
I just recently watched The Last Exorcism and I love it so much. The ending was not what I expected but love it!
Awesome list Emma, some hidden gems to check out. Have to give a shoutout to Stigmata (1999 I think). Really got under my skin at the time. Can’t wait for next list.
Thank you! I did a stream on stigmata! wasnt sure if it was technically possession?
Cool. I will watch that stream tomorrow. It’s 3.30am here in UK so bit late to start now. Plus really want to watch Stigmata again too as you now have me wondering if it was a possession movie?! Arghhh!! Thanks for your awesome content. Best Wishes.
@@spookyastronautsshe was possessed by the spirit of an old man who had stigmata which is why she had it.
Your thumbnail scared me. Nice list of films!
:P
I love that I can come here without being surprised with spoilers!
The last exorcism is crazy like the ended I was not expecting that at all!!
The Conjuring and Conjuring 2 are some of my favorite horror films and both have one of the main characters as possessed.
I think The Shrine (2010) is underrated. AND . . . I LOVE the vagueness!!! I listen to quite a few horror movie podcasts and it is so frustrating when they spoil films without warning. (And don't get me started on their stance that they should be allowed to spoil old films . . . I just want to scream "don't spoil films for 1st time viewers!" into my phone sometimes.) Knowing that I can watch your list videos without worry is a treat. Vagueness like yours is a skill 😉 😉
Luz was cool, One of the 2019 horrors that got slept on! And sorry i missed your live stream, I had a lot of questions for it, Hope i make the next one
Luz is underappreciated. Definitely not for everyone though.
Luz is great!
The Taking of Deborah Logan was great. You just reminded me I have to add Demon (2015) to my watchlist.
Great list; going to hunt down the ones I’ve missed, thank you! I agree Exorcism of Emily Rose is great; I think part of that was framing it as a courtroom drama as well as a horror film. Brilliant.
Two others you might love: Fallen, with Denzel Washington, John Goodman, and James Gandolfini. So many demons target priests or young women, but this one targets a good cop. And I thought The Possession with Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick was underrated; worth viewing if you like possession flicks.
Hey! ive seen Fallen! but because it's not a horror i didnt include it :)
Loving lists
ashjdjdk oh man, I was about to complain big time that you didn't put That Movie on this list, because it is such a favorite of mine, but then you explained it at the end, it makes perfect sense!
Good on you for being the Vague queen.
I'm so clueless... I can't figure out which movie! I'm sure it will come to me eventually... maybe? Hahaha I love a vague queen!
@@DarlingMissDarling I am not going to say it, but let me say it starts with an H and is quickly becoming a classic already, despite being only a few years old.
@@MonyXChan OH YESSSSSSS!
Thank you! Man, I swear that movie changed me on like, a cellular level. lol
Savannah Darling oh hard same! I couldn’t get it out of my head for like 3 days after seeing it. *chef’s kiss*
Same ha but she did it out of love.
Is the movie you didn't want to reveal have something to do about a demon king that wants to take male form and likes beheading things? I actually downloaded amityville horror recently, waiting to watch it - was curious what you thought of it, glad to see you like it!
Bingo Chris !!
Which version? The original
"Amityville Horror" is from 1979.
@@laustcawz2089 yeah I downloaded the 1979 version. I usually aim for classics
@Jessica Pazo
Imo, the best of the haunted house
movies is "Burnt Offerings" (1976),
starring Karen Black, Oliver Reed,
Bette Davis, Eileen Heckart,
Burgess Meredith, Anthony James
& Lee H. Montgomery.
The movie was filmed at
Dunsmuir House in Oakland, Ca.
You might still be able to
arrange a tour of the house.
"Amityville" fun facts:
Ryan Reynolds, who's in the remake,
got his start on the teen soap opera,
"Fifteen" on cable's
Nickelodeon network.
Meeno Peluce
(one of the kids in the original)
is the half brother of Soleil Moonfrye
(aka "Punky Brewster").
Not a movie, but a tv show I can really recommend is "Marianne". It's a french production and came out a while ago on Netflix. Also a movie that was fun to watch is "Night of the Demons" from 1988. It goes a bit in the direction of "The Evil Dead", about a group of teenagers who conjure some evil spirits at a haunted house Halloween party.
The lightning is so good in this video
