Hi, I'm Dean Wolfe, Canadian classic prog rock guitar teacher on CZcams. I grew up on classic 70s prog but abandoned it in the late 80s. Prog seemed dead and my orig. prog band was told by labels we were too prog. So i went onto grunge, pop, then folk, then strictly acoustic solo guitar etc...staying loyal to my staples like Yes and Rush, BUT 2020 was the year of my return to prog and the discovery that SO much great prog went on that I'd totally missed out on. Gotta love Leprous man!! I’ve seen them play this song live twice, and they’re KILLING it. I think it’s fair to say that this song is a masterpiece. The timesignature is 11/4 and they make it sound easy.
I loved watching this react. Now do a full album react to The Congregation or Malina. Lets do it🙏🏻🥳😂

René! I have now also heard this song played live twice, and I can't begin to describe the friggin JOY I feel when that guitar rips back in (at about 6:20 in this vid) after the pause live. It's like ecstasy!!!

Fun Fact: Einar Solberg, the vocalist, wrote and composed the song in about an hour and a half in a flow state. The song is in 11/8 and the final note lands on 11:11. Great reaction!

Never heard the bands music until now. Band is so tight. Singer has a ethereal voice, very operatic.

Leprous' music is on another level. I had the same reaction when I heard The Sky is Red at the end of the Pitfalls album. I have a feeling more Leprous is in store :)

You should react to Distant Bells by them, that song is also a great example of how they build up the song bit by bit.
I have hard time enjoying metal when the singing is more screaming and yelling, the melody is lost on me, but the mix of heavy guitars, multiple tempo changes and a beautiful melodic vocal melody always gets me, it's the best of both worlds, an enjoyable listen! Have a great day everyone

That's the natural reaction I always think people supposed to have. Sometimes I think people really doesn't get the greatness of Leprous!

Like others have said, definitely watch the drum playthrough of this song. Or any Leprous song for the matter. Baard is one of the best drummers to ever walk this planet. I've enjoyed seeing your adventures through Prog. I don't think you've listened to Tesseract yet which is surprising. Definitely check them out. I'd start with the song "King". Leprous and Tesseract are a couple of my ultimate favorites.

Definitely my favorite track on this album, and it's really awesome having a old-school sounding guitar solo in it, the first solo in like.. 4 albums now. What a treat of an outro to the album, and to think they almost didn't put it in. Glad they did.
Love how cello solos have become more of a Leprous staple than guitar solos
Masterpiece of them and another nice reaction ! As dig into it you'll see how they're authentic. Also would glad to see reaction of "the congregation" album which deserves checking out.

Saw them this past Monday night here in Arizona. First time ever seeing them live, and HOLY S H I T .............. unreal.
I was there. My 3rd time. The feeling in the room was electric. The best performance I’ve seen from them. They just get better and better.

You are very picky about vocals, right? My mom is, too. Although she loves Dean's channel and we watch together a lot, she always wants to skip to the next video if there's too much screaming and growling. 'Tis a pity, but I understand. 😊 It's not just that, some people's voices in general get her riled up - she can't stand Sinatra! (She mutters "rat bastard" under her breath whenever she hears him) Course, I'm that way with Billy Corrigan, so...
I just want people to sound like they're not performing another bodily function while they're singing. So don't worry- you're in good company, chica! 😊
