I’ve been doing with this problem for two years now same exact suv and have spent $5500 plus with two different mechanics it stops for a few months and starts again… i wish i saw you video in 2020 thanks 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Yep, when you picked that old o-ring out for TB, you took lil screwdriver and used ole towel to get that clean....thats when I said "I'm probably gonna watch more of this guy's vids".
Thank you for this video. As a female I find we get taken advantage of when it comes to getting our vehicles fixed. You made it look so easy to fix I'm definitely going to attempt to do it myself. Thank you so so much!
I agree with you as far as taken advantage of. And you definietly can do it just as I did! Good luck with your fix and thanks for watching.
@@TerenceDIYI changed the throttle body today, ac Delco. And problem came back on test run.
Also theres no loose wires on TPS wire harness.
What code or codes are you getting? Did you check the wiring where the throttle body connector comes from? This can also be a ground issue.
Okay. What code is coming up?
You are also able to replace just the throttle position sensor, rather than the entire throttle body. You used to not be able to purchase them separately, but we’ve been able to for a while now.
Disconnecting the battery would have cleared your codes.
Thanks for this part I was literally just about to ask that question
Until the code pops up again
@@rogerrambit4447 Obviously if you don’t replace the sensor the code would pop up again……not sure what you’re trying to get at here?
@@jerrybuck9236 you mentioned disconnecting the battery to clear the codes which would work until the check engine light illuminates again.
@@rogerrambit4447 yeah…and I also mention replacing the throttle position sensor…on a video showing how to replace the throttle body. I don’t think anyone here is assuming, or suggesting, that simply wiping the codes is going to fix the problem. The point you’re making is entirely pointless.
I just changed it in my 2012 GM after watching your video great video.
That's awesome Eddie. I am glad my video helped you. Thank you so much for watching.
What is the name of the part if y’all don’t mind me asking ?
Thx My 07 ltz 5.3 L w 170k is doing this now!!! Thank u much! 💯
You're welcome Josh. Thank you for watching.
Thx bro! Took your advice for my 07 Suburban LTZ and even cleaned it to buy some time for $$ .My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ looked out for me and I found a new Hitachi throttle body off a 08GMC YUKON at my job (Scrap auto purchase and processing) Yukon's Suburbans Tahoe's RARELY AND I MEAN EXTRA RARELY come in for scrap, when they do it's a shell.... So anyway GOD is good just found it yesterday Yukon was stolen then scrapped, old TB was in a new TB box in back so I removed it from the engine and problem solved! Thx 💯💯💯💯💯
That's awesome! I am glad everything worked out for you. Thank you so much for watching.
Going to be tackling something like this on a 01 Burb. Thanks for your video - it is very helpful!
You're very welcome. Thank you for watching.
I think you definitely just saved me some money I just changed my tps module n it’s still doing it
Sorry for the late response. Did you figure out the problem? What codes are you getting? Thanks,
The same thing happened to me on my way to work. I drive a 2011 gmc Yukon Denali xl. Will try this today and post updates. I also subscribed
Thank you for subscribing. Keep me posted.
Thanks for making these.. extremely helpful and genuinely can't thank you enough. We have a 09' malibu doing just about the same thing. Thankfully we have a mechanic that's a friend and helps with the cost. Merry Xmas and hope you have a prosperous and healthy New Year! 🙏✌️
Thank you very much for the kind words and watching my content. Happy Holiday!
Absolutely fabulous video Terence, Thank-You for posting this. My Chevy Colorado has been doing the same thing in the last few days. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Thank you very much Mr. Bill. Happy Holidays to you and your family as well. Thank you SO much for watching.
Hey Terrence video very helpful I have a quick question the hose you disconnected where you said to do it at an angle what is that hose called.mine is broke
March 24, 2024 @ 1440 hours, this video was RIGHT ON!! We went to O'Reily's and here's their optoins in Texas: $250 for brand new with lifetime warranty; $216 Brand new but with 1-year warranty; or $185 remanufactured with 1-year warranty. We opted for a brand new Hitachi with the 1-year warranty, it's a 2007 Silverado 5.3 and it worked perfectly finally. Before it would start & run, at other times occasionally or rarely it would turn on but it would sound like it wasn't running right, all of those indicator lights would trip, Stabilitrak, Low Power mode and I forget the other thing & we managed to plug the computer in, code was P2135. We left the original greenish seal there, we just cleaned it and the little groove or space & it fired up like a champ. Before it would start but no matter how much you depressed the accelerator it wouldn't respond in the slightest, now you press it and she ROARS LIKE A LION AGAIN!! Thank you Terence The DIY'er.
You're very welcome, Alex. I am glad my video helped you guys out. Thank you SO much for watching.
Thank you very very helpful . Awesome lesson .

I made the mistake of leaving my car with a dealership to come back for it later. And they deliberately caused this problem just so I can be a reoccurring customer. I gave them a one star review but thank you for this video.
That's terrible. Thank you VERY much for watching.
Thanks brother. Great help. God bless you
You're very welcome. Thank YOU for watching.
My truck ran this code and i bought the throttle position sensor and changed it myself. It fixed it! The hardest part was those metal clips they were fucking my fingers up lol but other than that simple
That's great! I am glad you got it fixed. Thank you so much for watching.
Hope you have a gas station nearby that tank is on E. Nice video got the same problem on my 2007 chevy tahoe.
Great video had a similar situation today , i keep you posted thx 💥🙌🏼💥

Great job and great explaining it thanks man

Change that tensier pulley bro
Thanks for showing the process of the throttle body replacement. I am having this issue with my 2011 Avalanche with all those lights popping on and motor going into reduced power mode. I looked at my throttle body and it appears pretty clean but I did however order an AC Delco throttle position sensor with plans to replace in next day or so. Really hoping this resolves my issue, it is very frustrating when pulling a car trailer and the truck can basically only idle off to the side of the road.
Let me know if this fixes your issue Mike. Thanks for watching.
@@TerenceDIY Well, after checking a couple of the grounds that everyone mentions and the TPS being replaced I think it is resolved. Been driving for 4 days now and no "reduced engine power". The little traction triangle light popped on for a quick second when I was getting on the x-way one time in those 4 days but nothing else. Time will tell as always, appreciate the tips from your video.
That's great Mike! Keep me posted if anything changes. Once again, thanks for watching.
@@mikebas7325hey Mike is it still running good?
@@kgarner3655 Yeah, mine has been running pretty good since the throttle body cleaning and sensor replacement. The little traction triangle light popped on for a quick minute a few times but no engine power reduced. When the traction light pops on it is under a slight load when getting on the x-way so it is not losing traction, hope to figure that out next lol. For reference, I have put about 700 miles on the truck since the throttle body fix.
I'm impressed with your car knowledge! Thank you for being willing to help us out. And you almost always reply with an answer-- not many take the time to do that! We have an 04 Chevy Tahoe that does the reduced engine power code. Mostly it's when you are first starting the car, but now it's happening just driving down the road. Husband did something with grounding a wire, and it never did it then for about a month. Back to doing it again. You and others mentioned something with the ? ?"electrical harness"?. Does this sound like a possibility here? And if so do you know how much something like that would cost to repair?
Yep, Chevy released a bulletin back in the day about the harness having issues. I'm not sure how much a repair shop would charge you guys. Tell your husband to check the harness that the throttle body plug is connected to and follow it back while looking for any frayed or damaged wires. I wish I were there to fix it for you guys.
And it's cold out I'm glad i found ya n it's a 5.3 2010 no codes either the rpm gauge is bobbing just like that but not that much loss of power what's your suggestion
You just saved me A LOT of money❤
That's great! Thank you so much for watching.
I thought you would have to relearn the throttle body after putting the new one on ? Thank you for the video. I had the same problem today. They sell a throttle position sensor for that problem? I have a 2008 suburban 2500. Thank you for the video.
No relearn required. Here is a link for the part...

Hi Terence,
My Chevrolet Captiva 2.0 Diesel AWD (2010) recently produced Traction Light On while driving and I can continued driving for tens of kilometre while the Traction Light On was displayed. But once a Spannar Light On was displayed, I had noticed that the car had difficulty to move forward in spite I hard pressed the accelerator pedal. Once I off the engine and restarted after 10 minutes or so, the Traction Light and Spannar Light dissapeared and I can drive as normal but The Traction Light On will appear again after I had drive for tens of kilometres. I had the opportunity to get my car scanned and according to the mechanic from the history of the error codes, there were at least 3 modules that had difficulty in reading the data received. May you suggest what should I explore first.Thank You.
Hello Sir, I've a Ford focus 2013 1.6 Ti Vct and since 2 month I've been having codes and issues with throttle and pedal accelerator. I've replaced the pedal as well as the throttle. It worked fine for 3 weeks and now I'm having code P2135 and P0121.
What can you suggest that I do?
Thank you
Did you replace the throttle body with an OEM one or an off brand aftermarket? There's a huge difference.
Geese just clean your TB once in a while. Its called routine maintenance. I got 395766 miles on my 04 6.0 with zero TB problems.
Yes, absolutely! I have three of them all with well over 200,000 and one with 337,000.
And they all run great, I stay with the GMT800 generation 2000 -2006.
Great video
Thank you Mike and thanks for watching!
Awesome video, My Yukon denali 2010 recently started showing engine light, though there isnt any reduced engine power message but I can feel less power while accelerating, it takes few seconds to get acceleration!! any advice please?
It may be as simple as removing the air duct and cleaning the throttle body with some throttle body cleaner. You'll be surprised at how your MPG will go up as well as performance. I would remove the throttle body and clean it as well as the intake in that area. Super quick, inexpensive and simple job that will save you $$. Here's a link for the cleaner.

@terencediy i have a 6.0 denali yukon. It has been sitting for a year same problem could it be the tps on my gas pedal because i have the adjustable pedals and my gas pedal broke. So it doesn't adjust and it floos around until i put my foot on it and push back down on it to accelerate
I have the exact setup as you (6.0, adjustable pedals), and your problem could very well be the accelerator pedal sensor.
I just had this happen last night on my 2018 f-250. I already have to get some body work done but need to make an hour trip before I bring it. I’ll just tell them to handle that too. Do you think the trip will put it at high risk for further problems before I bring it in?
Can you get some of this before your trip? (First Link). If so, pour it into your gas tank. Try to have less than a quarter tank if possible. This will allow the solution to be more concentrated and work better. I have a video on my channel where I dealt with a similar issue on an earlier Ford F250. Also, an even better solution would be to remove the air duct from the throttle body and spray inside and out (manually open the throttle body while you spray aggressively into the throttle body to clean it (Second link). The first product will help you but if you can use the second option, it may fix your problem for some time. Thanks for watching and be safe on your trip.

yes it does matter ! disconnect the negative 1st than the positive , and reconnect in reverse order , i seen a person do it out of order and when reconnected , the battery blew up , no joke , wear eye protection too , just sayin , safety 1st .
You are correct. I should have put emphasis on it. If you watch any of my videos I cannot stress enough the importance of safety. Thanks for watching and sharing that info.
😂😂😂bull 💩
Gotta be bullshit been a mechanic for years never followed that specific way just pull one off then the other doesn’t matter which one I’m pretty sure I’ve always pulled the negative first
And always be sure to wear your tampon buttercup !!
What a load of bullshit.
Hi I know this was a year ago but I was just wondering how has it been doing since you changed the throttle body any more problems with reduce engine power?
Absolutely not. The truck is still running amazing and I've put well over 20k miles on it since this video. Thank you so much for watching.
Hey Terrance great vedio. I have the same problem with 02 cadillac truck. But it only has no power when it gets at operating temp. I have changed gas pedal and I have done major tune up. Do you think I need to change throttle body also let me know thanks.
Ronald, I've worked on a few earlier model Cadillac Escalades and If I'm not mistaking, I believe your truck has a TPS sensor. I had symptoms like yours on a 2001 Cadillac Escalade and replaced the TPS and it ran perfectly.

Did you have to do a relearn process? Or use a bidirectional obd reader ?
Nope, not at all. Thanks for watching.
Do you need to reprogram the throttle body once replaced? That’s what I was told. Hope not though lol 2010 Chevy Tahoe
No. As long as you disconnected the battery for a while then it should be fine. I've done many with no programming and they were perfect. Thanks for watching.
What happens if you put a New Port in the still doing the same thing
Thanks!

Can you link me to an OEM throttle body for a 2008 Chevy Colorado. Code p2135 also reduced power error that comes and goes. Will replacing the throttle body fix this?
Hi, there's a possibility that replacing the throttle body will fix your problem, but I cannot guarantee it since I am not there to visibly diagnose the problem. Here are two links for the part. One is for a decent aftermarket one and the other is for the OEM part...

Hey Terence, I have a 2007 Suburban 5.3 flex fuel, 167k. This reduced pwr light, check eng light, stabilitrak lt and traction control lt all came on tonight first time. Note that it's -14 degrees in Denver now and I was in 4wd high and slipping a little. Since it would idle but had no power, I was able to pull off the road. I turned the engine off waited a minute and it restarted with no issue but the logged check engine lt. Made it home ok. Your thoughts on whether this incident might be cold related? Thanks
You absolutely could have gotten a false reading due to the circumstances. I've had multiple false readings where as after waiting for a while the vehicle was perfect with no further issues. However, pay close attention to it. If it happens again. there's definitely a problem even if it fixes itself after a restart. Here is a link to a new part that's cheap and reliable.

I have the same issue with my 2007 yukon. Replaced the alternator because of the built in regulator ( due to possible over charge) , Replaced ground wires, oil pressure sensor (went bad and replaced-now I have pressure reading again), replacing fuel level sensor now, replacing fuel canister now because of pressure ( not able to fuel up without 30 min of at the nozzle), now your saying the throttle body which makes sense but did it fix your stabletrek/reduced engine/ circuit high volts fuel level codes?

I get the same problem in the winter on the slick days
Dude, I had to do this to my '12 Yukon 5.3l about a week ago (it's Dec. 2023 now) and it ran horribly after installing the new trhrottle body. The manual relearn didn't work, it kept wanting to idle at 3k RPM, would surge while driving, etc. Had to take it to a shop to force the relearn as my code scanner doesn't have relearn service capability (should have just bought one that did with what the shop charged me to do it). Then it was still running lean, wouldn't idle properly (though it at least wasn't up at 3k RPM anymore). I had to replace the MAF sensor, and it was fine after that (mostly lol). What a pain in the a$$. Appreciate the video. New sub!
Thank you for subscribing. I hate you had to go through all of that. I wish I were there to help. We probably would have gotten it fixed pretty quickly and saved you some money.
Hey, I feel your pain through your comments. That's why even though I love the body style of those trucks, 07 -14. I stay with the GM800 Generation of Chevy/Gmc trucks. I have a few of them, with well over 200,000 miles and never have any of the problems that the 07 and up have. I know alotofpeoplethat have that Generationoftrucksandhave nightmare problems from electrical to the lifters due to the active fuel management/ displacement on demand system. $$$$$$$. Again, I feel your pain.
I have a question for you about my 2003 chevy suburban. I know spark plugs are one of the most simply stupidest things to replace however my truck has a totally different set up and unsure how to go about replacing them. It's like 3 nuts to a plate to remove a spark plug, as if they have a computer to each one.
You have to be talking about the ignition coil? You should watch my tune-up video. It shows everything in great detail. It will help you significantly.
Thanks for the great content, keep it up. I own a Chevy Express 5.7 L, what would give me more of an improvement in economy (mpg’s); replacing all of the O2 sensors OR replacing the I.A.C. valve and the T.P.S.? Thanks for your input!
The O2 sensors will help more than the IAC or the TPS (ONLY if they need replacing). You can clean the IAC sensor and it will work just like new. The better solution than all of the things you mentioned would be a high airflow air filter like a K&N. You'll get the best MPG, and a little added horsepower. Thank you SO much for watching.
When you got your reduced engine power warning did you get a CEL for OBDII codes P0120 P0220 and P1516? All 3 came up at same time without the REP on my '03 and chasing down is not easy lol
Nope, I didn't get those codes. Have you replaced any parts yet? Or are you trying to figure out the issue? Thanks,
I’m currently having the same problems with my 07 Yukon Denali 6.2. Replaced throttle but don’t think was an OEM replacement bought it from Oreilly’s. I’ve had different people give me different ideas on what they think the problem is. I’m kinda in a loop!
It's either the throttle body or the wire harness the plug from the throttle body comes out of. You'll need to inspect it for frayed wires. I would also try an OEM used throttle body. They are inexpensive on eBay.
Quick question when that happened did the engine vibrate when accelerating because to my suburban it would do that
No, it did not vibrate. It would barely accelerate and shift hard out of first gear.
I had no issues for almost a year after cleaning and replacing the main engine ground wire, then the other day after bumps and a really hard breaking due to a traffice issue it happened 3 times in a row. Each time minutes apart. All i did was stop and reatart the car. Finally got home it ran fine after each restart but happened 3 times back to back. Now i checked the battery ground and firewall ground and just pushed on the throttle Body connection to set it. No issues for several days. This is just weird...
Yes, that is really weird. Something similar was posted on GM bulletin several years ago.
A different video same issue was fixed by a loose ground wire between engine and firewall messing with the fuel pump when you hit a bump. So a 2nd real life easier fix that may also be the problem. 🙏
Thanks for sharing that info Charles.
I have replaced the throttle body and sensor, now it comes on when I hit a bump. Charles can you share the link to thay video ? I think I have the same problem
@becomingB did you find out your issue

Hey I have the exact same problem going on ,on my 04 Tahoe I’ve had the throttle body replaced and throttle position sensor as well but still getting no power to the truck when pressing gas what’s the part you replacing on your truck? Or what else should I do ?
Hi, the throttle body and the throttle position sensor is one piece on your vehicle. Was the entire unit replaced? Did they use OEM parts? Here's a link to the part that should have been replaced on your truck if indeed you had the same issue as mines.

Absolutely not. Thanks for watching.
I see lot of problems with these vortex intakes having the throttle body and mass flow problems
Hello my car has been doing this I replaced the throttle body, pedal and computer. Still doing it any suggestions? I have a 2009 gmc yukon
There was a Chevy bulletin post about this around 2012. There was issues with the throttle body and the wire harness that runs to the throttle body. The harness was somehow becoming frayed along the engine so I would inspect that harness thoroughly since the throttle body did not fix your issue.
Can you replace the sensor only on them or buy new unit. Ive got a built 5.3 2007 Avalanche.👊
I have a 2007 Chevy Avalanche LS V8 5.3L Vortec 4WD Flex Fuel. I only replaced the sensor and everything is good now. I disconnected the negative battery cable for 24hrs while waiting for the part. I followed the steps identical to Eric @SouthMainAuto. Issue is finally resolved. Gl

Thanks for the video. I ended up having to change the throttle body. My car has 125k on it. Only question I do have it, the voltage meter. What is it supposed to be on? I notice it starts at 14 or a little over then after a while it goes down between 12-14. Does that mean I need a new battery? Other than that, the car runs great.

I'm curious how much your throttle body cost? I've got the p2135 on a Versa Note and my mechanic changed the accelerator pedal sensor yesterday then today it failed and did it again. Am hoping it's a throttle body sensor now up by the throttle body but maybe this is what I need too.
There are some correlation with that code although the car is different. What year is your Versa? Here are links for two different engines (I believe the only two that comes in the Versa)/

Great day, I am having this exact issue with my 2013 yukon Denali right now. I have went through a few mechanics that swore they could fix the problem. The 3 lights that appear are stabilitrak off, traction off, and engine power reduced. When those are on, I can not go more than 15 miles per hour. When they are off the truck drives perfect. Are you in Atlanta by chance? Or can you refer me to a reliable person in Atlanta that can fix this. Trying to remain positive, and hopeful😘

Did the light ever show back up after a few days or weeks?
I fixed this over a year ago and the truck still runs amazing. No lights whatsoever. Thank you for watching.
I got a 05 c6 corvette I changed the gas pedal and tbi 6 months later it came back on the cel with the same code
Hi Karlos, you should inspect the harness where the TBI connector runs. There's been post on Chevrolet bulletin about the wire harness having frayed wires, loose connections, etc... causing that issue.
So what part did you replace? So i dont have to watch video. Th anks
Did that airbag light come on when that happen? What happen to me was I lost acceleration and my airbag light came on along with that wrench symbol. Also my speedometer went to 0 while I was still driving.
The airbag light has been on. It's a recall. I had to schedule an appoinment at the dealership to get it taken care of. It had nothing to do with my situation.
I have a 2013 gmc sierra and it happened to me last night out of the blue my truck didn't have any other issues before then , I ended up driving it home doing about 30mph 'which was about 50 mins away usually ' so is that the only way to fix that problem.
Hi,
It is the most common however, there could be other issues. Do you know what code it is throwing? If it is the P2135 It's probably the throttle body. Let me know the code if you can.
Here are some links to the parts for future references.

I’m literally praying that this fixes my equinox😭 I already replaced lots of sensors and nothing so I hope this is it
Let me know. Thanks for watching.
Did it work?
@@ks_gamer2171 no😞 but I went too long without an oil change so now the mechanic said to flush the engine to clean it and it should work
Best. Too. Sit back n watch. Em take the bugs out of em
What part was that. That you put on. Mine is engine power is reduced idk what going on idk nothing about vehicles
Here is a link to the part (below). However, reduced engine power can be quite a few things. You need to get the codes read.

Was their a relearning process for the throttle body ?
Nope, not in my case. However, I have had a few commenters say they had to do a relearn. Thanks for watching!

Hello my guy how are you. I'm frustrated as hell I just paid $500 last year to replace this thing and now is doing the same thing again this year I know I don't have to replace it again do I what should I do
Hi, do you know if it was replaced with an aftermarket one or and OEM. $500 is expensive. Here's a link to a part that I've used on a few different vehicles with no issues and it's very easy to change the part.
