    • @Numenor76
      @Numenor76 Před 5 lety +6

      Well Savvidis is kind like Berlusconi. I mean, Mafia-like people. They abuse their power (money) without ethical boundaries or caring about others in the least and Tifo, thankfully, always shows them as they are.
      Also @Tifo Football, perhaps you could also do about Melissanidis, president of A.E.K., which they won the League last season...and he is also the owner of OPAP [Revenue: EUR 1,455 billion (2017)]. The Greek betting overlords.
      I'm saying this while being a fan of A.E.K. since i was a kid. To me it's heartbreaking watching all these greedy and corrupt people running things in Greece (in politics too). I had stopped watching Greek football years now, same with politics. A civilization in decline!

    I'm so tired of football corruption in my country.I've been a Panathinaikos fan for all my life ,but I've stopped following the Greek Superleague in recent years not because we don't compete for the league title anymore but due to corruption and scandals like this one.This has happened to countless Greek football fans in recent years who ,like myself, prefer to watch other European competitions like the EPL.This problem needs to be solved ,as it brings the country on the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.Anyway, congrats on another great video keep up the good work.

    Great and very detailed video, i just want to point out that majority of Greece's population (especially Northern Greece) dont agree on the name given to "FYROM" and that can be seen in the numberous public protests (especially the one in Thessaloniki). You should also cover more owners like Melissanidis, the owner of AEK, who also controls many shares in OPAP, Greece's biggest gambling company which got completely private in 2013.
    Unfortunately in Greece, i doubt if even one owner is completely clean and not controlled by political parties or outsiders. Greece has always been a puppet to East and West, and sadly this got into football as well.

    Actually Savvidis first appeared in the Greek scene about 2009-2010 and was welcomed by "New Democracy" party deputies and members from Thessaloniki. He was frustrated by ND, when its current leader (Kyriakos Mitsotakis) was elected. Mitsotakis' family has close relationships with Marinakis. Dora Bakogianni, sister of Kyriakos Mitsotakis and also a deputy (and former minister a lot of times), had Marinakis as a best man on her wedding and she is the godmother of Marinakis' son. So it was either Marinakis, either Savvidis. During a public tender for TV licenses (under the current left government), both Marinakis and Savvidis were bidders. Marinakis won one of the licenses, Savvidis didn't. During this period, there was an effort by the current government to bring Savvidis as a supporter/donor and Savvidis wasn't excluding such a possibility (on condition to get what he wanted for his businesses). The deal went sour however, especially after the agreement between Tsipras and Zaev which Savvidis strongly opposes.

    Great video, I like your detached style, it allows viewers to form their own conclusions.
    As a Greek football fan, I had stopped watching many years back, as I felt disgusted by the situation you describe. One or two owners would use popular teams as just a tool for advancing a broader, not-football-related, agenda. As expected, their teams would dominate, as success is a requirement if you want to keep Greek fans backing you up for any significant amount of time.
    I recently tried to start watching Greek football again, and found out that we now have THREE of these guys. The two main results of this are (i) all other teams are either completely dependent on one of them (getting players on a loan deal cheaply and allegedly money under the table to throw the matches versus one of the three teams and play really hard against the other two) or getting the really really short end of the stick when it comes to fairness (e.g. attitude of referees) and (ii) when two of the three play against each other, it might get really, really ugly; a recent Greek cup final took place while fans of AEK and PAOK stabbed each other WITHIN THE STADIUM PREMISES.
    I know it will not save the world or anything, but I would be thankful if you did more videos about Greek football, to spread outside of Greece what everybody in Greece more or less knows. Possible examples would be videos about Marinakis and/or Melissanidis, digging deeper into Savvidis, digging deeper into the recent match-fixing case etc. Disclaimer: I have only watched this video of yours, if scandals are not one of your main focuses, ignore my request and thanks for the video in any case.

    Nice video, but I would like to add some facts regarding the PAOK vs aek match back in March.
    >2 matchdays before, Olympiakos managed to get 3 points from Toumpa, while getting PAOK penalized with the deduction of 3 points, with a ludicrous attempt to act like their manager was injured, before the match would start.
    >First of all, PAOK scored a 90th-minute goal, which would put him in pole position for the title.
    >The referee points to the kick-off spot, while the assistant runs toward the center of the pitch.
    >aek's players and staff cornered the referee and his assistants.
    >Referee then shows offside.
    >Only he knows what they told him and made him change his mind.
    >Ivan Savvidis, after Olympiakos and now this, furiously invades the pitch and calls the team off of it.
    >PAOK's captain sais NO.
    >Shit gets real.
    >In the heat of the moment Savvidis takes off his jacket, and one photographer captures a picture of him with the gun.
    >fast forward to when the referee calls the teams to get on the pitch to play the remaining 5 minutes.
    >aek would be ok if the score was 0-0, but if the score is 1-0 then they're terrified and won't come out.
    >referee says would announce score on the pitch. aek disagrees, and the match ends.
    >Kone (aek player) says that they cannot play 5 minutes after they've been at the dressing rooms for an hour. No mention of gun.
    Thank you

    (At first sorry for my bad English.)You have it wrong my friend!! When the match PAOK-OLYMPIACOS was about to start one fan of PAOK threw a very have item in the face of the coach of Olympiacos, then PAOK lost 3 points and another punishment was 3 matches without fans .Olympiacos win 0-3 as the match didn't start. The day that PAOK and AEK were playing the court of Justice at 3:00 a.m. decided to give PAOK his 3 points back. The problem was that this day was the match PAOK-AEK. The question was how in so few time they printed 27.703 tickets for this match!! The PAOK-AEK match started but it didn't end , while PAOK scored a goal at 89' but the referee said that it was offside and the goal was not registered then IVAN SAVVIDIS entered the pitch...
    After 1 week the Goal (offside) counted and the match ended 1-0 with winner PAOK. The referee said it was scared for his life and he will not be a referee anymore ( This is why the goal counted in the match PAOK-AEK) . Finally I have to say that Greek Liga doesn't play in pitches but in the court of Justice !!!

    Very good video and well researched. Would like to mention that current president of EPO the greek football federation is a guy that Savvidis endorsed and said "this is our guy" as his attempt to fight the previous system is building his own system of controling the federation and the refs. Savvidis essentially bought the superleague but hasn't taken it home yet. Last year they basically gave it away by hitting the olympiakos coach with a roll of paper, whatever they say about this is absolute bullshit since just the previous year it happened to their coach with an empty can of beer and they were ok with leaving and taking the match then. As an added insult the team at fault then, panathinaikos, lost points and had their fans banned for three matches, Paok punishment for the same thing? Nothing. And the legendary walk in the pitch with a gun situation. In any serious country the punishment for this would be far more severe than 3 measly points but they act like it was stolen from them. Anyway it looks like this year is going to be theirs anyway unless they royally fuck up from now on. All it took was a russian oligarch putin flunky to come and take over the greek economy media and sports and maybe change our country's politics to serve russia but hey good on them they finally (almost) did it!

Due to the points deduction administered by the Greek FA and following legal suits from the affected clubs, at one point, no one really knew how the Superleague table looked like. Tifo, Paok was the only one(except Olympiacos) who benefited from Olympiacos dictatorship in Greek football. All these years AEK and Panathinaikos tried to break Olympiacos legacy with a whole bunch of money(he had all the referees with him and some of the rest teams by his side) while paok was not spending anything and just taking his chances for a Cup etc. So by 2011 and after, while AEK and Panathinaikos were led to bankruptcy paok was clean and benefited by this whole olympiacos system and now can dominate the greek championship.

    Nice video Tifo Football, but I would like to highlight some facts that should definitely be included. I witnessed what happenned last year from inside Toumba Stadium and I can claim I have a clear picture of what happenned.
    You should have mentioned that 2 weeks before the infamous PAOK AEK, PAOK played against olympiacos in Toumba. The match never started because of a disgusting plot made up by rotten olympiacos. After that the fans of PAOK where full of anger. Later when PAOK scored a goal in the 89 minute of PAOK AEK the referrees firstly agreed that it was a clear goal. But later, after 8 minutes of discussion in front of PAOK fans (who were so happy at the moment) they decided to deny the goal. Me personally and everyone around me felt outrageous, like we were being stolen... AGAIN. At that moment 30.000 people could have stormed the pitch and the referees would not be alive now. Instead Savvidhs came in and everything else followed....
    The world is not aware of these facts and they all blame us.. PAOK is being stolen of what he deserves for decades by Athens. We are the only ones fighting against athenian corruption and controll. Unfortunately your video suggests that it was PAOK responsible for whatever happenned...

    Very good analysis and most of the facts are correct. However I would like to point out some things. First of all I am a Greek PAOK fan but I still I will try to be as fair as possible. In this video you have focused almost solely on the outcome last year's Super League. The thing is in an analysis like that we should also look at what led to all this. In the last season PAOK was after many years a realistic title contender up until a previous match against Olympiakos. In fact PAOK was leading the table. Olympiakos was in such a bad shape at the time that a domination at this game was sure. But the game never ended. In fact it never even started. That happened because a cashier roll supposedly hit their coach on the head (we use them at the start of the games to create a nice effect instead of fire crackers that are not allowed anymore). Supposedly one roll didn't roll out fully and hit him. Of course this is bullshit you can look up the video and even like that a game just starts with the assistant coach on. Olympiakos just said we are leaving and they did just that. (A game important for the title race is lost here). And now we go to the AEK incident. Because of the other match we effectively lost the lead on the table and we had to win AEK no matter what to take the lead once more. People were already angry so the team put a special net behind AEK's bench so that they have no excuse. Game started fans were very good not causing any trouble. And we come to the 89' minute. Game at 0-0. Fernando Varela scores for PAOK a real goal (no offside look it up). The thing is the assistant referee started running to the middle of the pitch as usual like no offside. That's what the referee did as well. AEK players went around the referee and started screaming to him not to count the goal. After around 2 minutes ( I'm not joking) the referee decides that it IS an offside. After what has happened this year and all the other years with Athens clubs everyone went mad. That's when Savvidis came down to the pitch and screaming for the team to leave te match. After some time it looks like his jacket was pulled away and there is a pic made with him having a gun in him pocket. (Never reached for it never attacked anybody just for self defense i guess I don't know) . Important to notice here is the fact that nobody saw the gun in real time. After some minutes the referee asked the teams to return to the changing rooms just because there were all these people on the pitch. In the security cameras can be seen that only then did AEK members seeing foto's of the gun on the INTERNET and started showing one another. Later the referee asked them to return to the pitch for the final minutes but they refused saying they were scared for the gun (they never saw in person). I don't think that what Savvidis did was right but let's just look at everything that led to this reaction and not just the result. Still this is by far the most accurate foreign report I heard about the incident . Good recearch keep up the good work!

    • @balafoutis21
      @balafoutis21 Před 5 lety +1

      1. Olympiacos tactics (abandoning the game) in your match were cheap, but remember your tactic's against Panathinaikos in the previous season. They were the exact same (abandoning the game).
      2. PAOK was awarded the 3 points he lost for the match against Olympiacos and he got his gates opened (they were supposed to stay closed) at 2 am in the night, just A FEW HOURS before the PAOK-AEK game. I mean is that a teams chased by the system?
      3. PAOK's goal was offside because another PAOK player who is in offside position moves towards the ball and TRIES to get to it. That by rules if an offside.
      4. Either way i think we can agree that is a pretty hard decision to make and there are lots of opinions about it. But, no matter what, Ivan Savvidis should NEVER enter the pitch with the gun and threaten the ref. Other PAOK officials should NEVER enter the pitch and threaten the ref ''you are finished''. The ref was threatened and that is why he wanted to continue the game. PAOK should be banned for all this and he rightfully was. And if you ask me his ban was a pretty light one.

    • @aristoteleios530
      @aristoteleios530 Před 5 lety +3

      1. Completely different situation. Look up the rules and you'll understand.
      2. The verdict of the appeal was out earlier than 2 am. It was announced by EPO, the football association at 2 am. But still, I don't see why that's PAOK's problem. Judges had a lot of days to reach on the logical decision of not penalizing PAOK (which we still didn't get all the points back). You should expect more from people being paid by taxpayers money.
      3. Clear Goal.
      4. Agreed. But, a referee at a football match is getting paid so much money, because he, supposedly, can handle the pressure in these types of situations. He made the decision to count the goal. aek players crowd him and bully him. Instead of giving one or two yellow cards, he changes his decisions. That has only happened once, and it happened in Toumba. Maybe he was threatened by aek's players.

    • @8wmas4
      @8wmas4 Před 5 lety +2

      PAOK's goal was clear.PAOK player (Mauricio) maybe was in offside position, but he doesn't touch the ball or prevent aek's goalkeeper and defenders to save the ball.That's why when PAOK scored aek's goalkeeper didn't react in any way and stayed on the ground with a sad face.We 've seen many cases in other championships where goals similar to this were counted.

    • @balafoutis21
      @balafoutis21 Před 5 lety +3

      1. Why is it a different situation? In both cases the manager was hit and his team grabbed the opportunity to win the 3 points without a match. (in PAOK's case it's worse cause he was losing). Also, do you want me to remind you how PAOK tried to win the 2017 championship? Yep, that's right on a court's decision.
      2. I will ask you something and please be honest. Let's suppose that AEK and PAOK play a very crucial game for the championship but this time in Athens. PAOK is 5 points ahead and just a few hours before the game AEK is given 3 points back and now the difference is just 2 points. Would you talk about ''the Athens state'' or not? And also if the system is chasing PAOK why would the Association give him the 3 points back?
      3. It's not a clear goal, because he TRIES to get to the ball. He makes the move.
      4. Come on now. In almost every game the players protest against a referee's decision. What does that mean? And it's kinda ironic to say that the referee was threatened by AEK when your team's owner and officials invaded the pitch and told the referee ''you are finished''.
