The Football Club That Bought Their Fans: Pyramids FC

- Pyramids FC, a brand new club from Egypt, who set a new expenditure record for an African team, and has one of the most extravagant football stories of the year.
Pyramids FC spent 40 million Euros building a squad from scratch - signing 23 players - and a staff. But, how did a new Egyptian team spend more than Porto, Watford and Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande?

@BabaGol you did a great job with the video. However, there are some inaccuracies and I do understand that this might be due to the scarcity of credible resources or sources that aren’t in Arabic.
- Al Ahly has never been in debt. They actually have a surplus every year and it is a governmental cooperative which means that it is a state club but it is governed by its paying members.
- Al sheikh’s involvement was basically a publicity stunt and an attempt to show dominance politically as you said.
- He funded the elections campaign of the current board and that’s why they gave him a bit of influence since he was donating (not investing) to the club.
- The problems started when he was trying to take over in terms of important and technical decisions to expand his influence which is something that is completely against the clubs’ principles so they had to limit his involvement.
- The rival club; Zamalek, tried to get the same benefits that Al Ahly got from him over that short period. However, he realized that they won’t serve his publicity aspirations as much even if he still needs to fund them in order to gain some supporters in the country.
Very informative

As much as I disapprove of the idea and concept, I reckon this team would probably make a really fun Football Manager save
Haha yeah, it looks like somebody just started a new game and never touched it again after setting up and playing 10 matches.
What else should they do?
Fans just won't be passionate to support this new club and that helped to make a basis of local fans
There's a weird sort of satisfaction that comes with making save with a completely empty club, I do this sometimes with MLS Expansion sides

These stories about football from around the world are my favourites, especially those from nations that normally receive little attention when it comes to football

Why? for their fans
@@xivfrost563 no actually they have no fans ( for real not as a metaphor) we hate it because of their owner how shows great disrespect to our football
Lol u guys would still want his financies
We hate them because they shame us. A club that is an embarrassment to the whole country
Nah, most people here are largely indifferent to it actually.
Brilliant work Tifo, great storytelling as usual. Just one comment though, there was no civil war in Egypt. There were lots of demonstrations and clashes with the police on several occasions and over a few years but never a civil war.
Nice video but some of the facts need correction
Ahly was never in debt, the club is stable financially and has made profits over the past 3 years
El sheikh came to Egypt as an investor who wanted to build a stadium for Ahly
He paid a considerable sum of money and wanted to take control over the club
he did not resign as honorary president, he was forced out
he revoked the case because he would have lost it eventually and caused more embarrassment to him
ramon diaz would have been appointed but the deal didnt go through because he and bibo (ahly chairman) did not reach and agreement
el sheikh then brought an offer for diaz but the deal between ahly and diaz was off
many ahly fans (myself included) did not like the way the chairman dealt with sheikh or the way sheikh talked about the club but if we had to pick one of course it will be bibo
pyramids tv and many writers were paid to attack ahly chairman which led to the situation in the caf match
finally there was no civil war in Egypt
but seriously considering that you are an outsider to the whole story, very nice video
very well said from South Africa and an Orlando Pirates fan, like the history of both your club and Zamalek,
@@patrickharper499 Your team handed us our biggest loss at home in African competitions (twice) but we won the cup at the end

I second this! His Pescara side must have been a blast to watch with a young Verratti, Immobile and Insigne. I did make an analysis on AS Totti he took over after that. Thank you very much for this video. Great insight of what's happening in Egypt.
I would be interested in a Sporting Kansas City/Peter Vermes tactical profile.
Intense and stylish possession team just finished a successful season and are in Champions league next year. the team play an expansive and possession oriented 4-3-3.Very fit players who know how to press too. They finished 3rd overall in MLS this year
The midfield consists of Ilie Sanchez (who i call, "MLS Jorginho") at the 6 and dual 8's. theres a stable of dangerous inverted wingers to go up top, and overlapping fullbacks flanking ball playing defenders. Vermes scouts players for his system, and has a penchant for La Masia products such as the aforementioned Ilie, but also Oriol Rosell, Jordi Quintilla, and Andreu Fontas.
They have a Concacaf Champions League matchup with Toluca in febuary. Toluca is situated at 2.6k m and SKC will have to simulate the altitude in chambers prior to traveling there

So accurate! Elite level research and knowledge of the Egyptian premier league
the team is not as good as you guys think they are at second place with 1 loss and 5 draws plus they sold their main striker to a saudi club as a gift - ish because the owner of pyramids ( turki alsheik ,and the owner of the other saudi club are friends ) also they sacked their new manager and now appointed hossam hassan anegyptian manger and an african legend like the thierry henry of egypt
2nd place not good enough when they play in the league for the first time ever?
Though I think hiring hosam hasan was a good move for them to establish some sympathy from egyptians.
Well you are not wrong but if you invested that much of money I don’t think second place is right for a club who has the best squad in the league
Anderw Samir actually with all that money they still dont have the best squad , their squad is good but not better than the 2 big teams . Its like tottenham and arsenal you cant say who have the best squad because they have good squads and anyone of them can win

Sergeant Awesome oh yeah? Then how do you describe an emptyhad stadium which was officially 75% full acclaimed by Man City?
@@Ulquitous I've lived in Manchester and the club enjoys widespread support. Thing is, their traditional fanbase is working class and therefore not very affluent. Man City ticket prices are steep. Very steep. The club has many fans and longstanding ones but they're not necessarily the kind who can afford to be at all the games.
Respect to you guys. Everything you say is absolutely true and I’m loving this channel. Keep it up
Lets be honest on this .. an invested football club with a new name, logo, management, and players in Egypt will put pressure on the top rival clubs in the league but the outcomes are way positive for an internal competitions and developments in the Egyptian sport that is too slow to produce quality and performance to it's national players over the years. Al Ahly (The Century's Club) is invading the Egyptian football for the last 20 years approximately and it's fans are about 60% population in Egypt. I have been supporting Al-Zamalek from 1996 till 2012 but since EFA banned football activities several times for safety and political issues and separating the premier league to 2 Divisions in 2013 if i was not mistaken ... Now I am Pyramids plastic fan just by the name for it's nice and cool Sphinx logo and shit. Thank you Egypt for ruining the best sport in the world.
That concept is similar to Manchester City but not 100%... English Premier League will never be compared to Premier League in Egypt. Just my opinion
