Estradiol causes hair thinning too. Most perimenopausal, menopausal & post menopausal women suffer from undiagnosed & untreated thyroid disease which causes hair loss & thinning. Testosterone hormone replacement causes hair loss too. I switched to using Purador shampoo (organic, non chemical, drug free, herbal) & it's worked wonders for my hair growth, shine, overall condition of my hair. I'm also hypothyroid due to total thyroidectomy & I'm approaching menopause at age 48. My testosterone was almost zero when I had hormone testing.

I'm have been on HRT medication for two months, it isn't doing anything for my hair, and now it is dry and brittle, where it wasn't before! My hair was thinning out, but it was never dry, nothing seems to be working and I'm getting frustrated! Also, I have just been thinning out in the last 6 months or so, before that my hair was fine, except a little around the front. I have been in menopause for years and no hair issues, I originally thought it was my thyroid so I had tests done, the tests determined my hormones were not balanced. I still think it's my thyroid, it's annoying and frustrating!
