Hi, I'm Maggie and I have Crohn's disease. I am thrilled to be here sharing my personal experiences with Inflammatory Bowel Disease as well as living with an ostomy. I'm proud to share a little bit from a clinical experience as well, having worked as a GI pediatric nurse and ostomy telehealth nurse. I am so glad you are here. ♥ #ibd #crohnsdisease #ostomy
If your scar bothers you, ask for a scar revision. Breast cancer survivor here, double mastectomy and port scars. So coming from a place of understanding ❤️ however, you look freaking beautiful. You've inspired me to embrace my scars more.
Hi Maggie just glad your o k and well.dont worry about scar as long as you are alright ❤
you're a masterclass in grace and strength
Maggie
Kudos to you
1. Scar is nice and is located at correct place
2. I think your previous open surgery with midline scar made the gynec decide to go for open otherwise laparoscopic surgery for ectopic is the rule
3. Don't put anything on the scar. Leave it open
4. You will gain weight shortly
5. I am a Adenocarcinoma colon survivor (6 months only) with total colectomy and J pouch. Before that PCNL ( for kidney stones )
Also cholectomy ( gall bladder removal) during my colon surgery.
Lost 25 pounds. But have gained 10 pounds
6. Everything will be fine
7. Although your chances of ectopic in future have increased but there is more than 85% chance that you will have a normal pregnancy in future ( I am a senior Gynec in India)
8. You are an inspiration for so many of us. Thank you Maggie ❤
My C-Section was one of the most painful incisions I’ve had. Take the time to heal❤
Agree 1000%
Sameee
I agree!
About a year after my last c-section, I had a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) and that was so much more painful than the 2 c-sections!!
I had over 6 years of Infertility journey. So many scars and I wear them with pride. Each scar tells my story. Huge hugs to you.
If you mix the butter into the flour before you add any water it will work much better :)
"The first thing to really keep in mind as I'm showing you this is that I don't know what I'm doing..." 😅 I love you, Maggie, this statement is such mood 😂
Your plants look so good! They're thriving. Your scar looks terrific! When I went to my 2 week post op check up for my ectopic rupture, I was just about home, at a stop waiting to turn into my street. A car-transporting tractor trailer came up behind me, not stopping at all, hitting me and pushing my car 80 ft,, totaling my car. No broken bones...I was so lucky. Just black and blue head to toe, with whiplash and a concussion, but my incision stayed closed, which was my first fear when I came to realizing I was in an accident. I kept trying to tell the paramedics I could be opened up but they didn't understand what I was saying. Thank God it all stayed good. The thought of an incision opening, I would just faint.
That is so much to bear all at once. So thankful you were ok.
That’s terrifying! No doubt the truck driver was texting or looking at a map. I hope that driver gets jail time. So reckless. I’m glad you are (mostly) ok. ❤
Your surgery incision looks great. I'm so happy for you. That bandage is really cool. I've never seen those before. They look like they're worth the cost. I was cracking up at your look after reading that you earned that scar. 😆 It's so nice to see your beautiful smile coming back. Kudos to you.
I have a ovarion cyst rupture, they gave me a cut at the hair line about a 1 -1/2 inch and I will tell you I could hardly walk straight up for wks, so I feel real bad for you Maggie, just take it easy and rest up.
Emergency c-section mom here. It will be numb for a while but feeling comes back. I didn't get shaved either. I was going to die if they didn't get him out so no time. All was well. C sections are no joke. I have fistualizing crohns so I knew I would never deliver vaginally. I was so bummed but it was worth all the pain. Keep going Maggie. All you do is worth it.
I’ve had 3 c-sections! It’s MAJOR abdominal surgery!!!
My scars have all healed and faded. But, my last c-section was 32 years ago
I had a 5.5 pound cyst, ovary & tube removed and was cut from hip bone to hip bone. It was very hard to sit up from a laying position. My husband bought us a bed like yours, made it so much easier. Your scar looks very good.
I still have numbness 7-8 years later. I'm used to it. But for you, just take it in stride, maybe the numb feeling will go away in time. It is still healing.😊
Hi - I had an open hysterectomy to remove large fibroids. I was in my early 50s and they removed everything. My scar was about six inches. I found support underwear helped. Gave me a good feeling and in my mind kept everything in place. It took a while for the feeling to come back. My scar faded and is barely visible. Yours will too. I recovered fast and was back to work in six weeks. Never give up on your baby dreams.
Hi. Your incision looks great. I also had that type of incision for total hysterectomy at age of 36. Fibroids. Luckily no cancer. The pain was really bad. I thought my intestines were going to fall out. Thank goodness for pillows to hold me together! Your such a wonderful example to those who are going thru your loss.
I am jealous of your flowers! ❤
Your comment brought back the memory of being post-op after my c-sections and feeling like my uterus was going to fall out if I straightened up, haha! The things we women go through...!!
When I had my first abdominal surgery my doctor taped up my whole stomach. It really helped! When I needed another many years later I ask the surgeon to tape the whole area and she thought I was crazy but she did it. It really helps with pain. The incision was in the middle and accessible for cleaning the drain tubes but when coughing and laughing or sneezing there is no pressure on the incision. By time the incision was healed the tape just fell off. I had no rash or anything. I could see if you were allergic it wouldn’t work.
I love the energy you have now that the worst is over. Stay positive
I am still to this day numb but not numb in my incision area. Mine from 4 c sections. So I kinda expected that after all the surgeries in same incision spot. You are healing great. I hope you keep healing well. I'm sure the nerves will come back to a point, but in time, they seem to get better. Not fully, that's still better than that full-on numb. Sending hellos from Wasilla Alaska,
Tschandra
My 2 C-Sections were hip to hip. To this day (14 years ago was my one) I have tingling awful sensation and numb.
Wow! Healing amazingly well! ❤
Thanks!!
Love how much happier you are looking. Praying you get sensation back in scar area.
My c section scat goes verical, and has been opened and used 7 times at least. Goes from just under breast to pelvic area. Emergency c section 49 yesterday ago. It stayed numb many years but keep using the same area. Told them to out a zipper in lol
So glad the scar is beautiful as scars go. I had TRAM flap, back in’98. I still don’t have feeling in a large area. Best to you ❤❤❤
Omgoodness, your hair is growing as good as your plants. Thank you for sharing the Frida bandages. I’m going to order some. The good thing about my numbness/nerve damage on my midline tummy is that I don’t feel my insulin injections 😂Trying to stay positive🫶
Your scar looks very good. I love that you have plants. I would love to have a garden one year.
Aww i love you guys so much ive had a csection in 1994 and I hate were my scar is but it was a emergency csection the cord was around his neck and still today he tells everyone i tried to kill him nes 29 yrs old now will god bless you
It looks good. Glad you are feeling better. Hope the feeling returns. Your bread looked fantastic. Thanks for sharing the inspiration.
OMG that flat bread pizza looked”to die for”! Good job! When they did my surgery when they thought I had ovarian cancer, they did a vertical opening and took out everything that made me a female,LOL. Well my surgeon did a horrible job closing me. Ended up with a non healing suture line, OPEN site. So, being a nurse realized I would have the fun job of wet to dry packing in my surgical site, with home health. After I healed I looked like a child had done my surgery!! Deformed. Was extremely happy that it was NOT cancer! AMEN.
I so admire you and your brave attitude. You are amazing. I’m just sorry about your everything you have gone through. Sending you love. Wishing you future happiness because you deserve it🥰
C-type can be very painful. Take care.
Of course you lost 5 pounds. It's not unusual. Don't stress. It comes back. You know this but you are allowing yourself to worry. Soon you will be going out to eat and that is going to put weight on you. Remember you lost some blood and got anemic. Get a little red meat into your diet and that will resolve too. Your tomato pizza thing looked good.
I'm having company. Making pot roast (smells wonderful but needs to cook forever. 3 to 4 hours) and salad. I am making cornbread casserole and green beans too. Finally, strudel for desert. I like to cook for company.
Wish you and Zack could have some. I think this meal certainly would put weight on ya!
my c section scar was my best healing scar of all of my surgeries, which have all otherwise been laparoscopic. I do still have some numbness, but after the first 6 months to a year it gets way better. (my son is 6)
I had a c section and that area was number for 4 years. It's been 5.5 years now and I finally have some feeling back.
Scar looks fine. Hope you will heal quickly!
You are a champ for making your own food. I’m way way waaaay too lazy…if I wanted to gain weight I’d be Doordashing or drive-thru-ing to no end. I know it’s more expensive but I’d find a way to justify it lol
You’re a champ. Hope you’re okay in your pain management journey. As another commenter noted, C-section incisions (I had two, back to back-as in within a year of each other) are awful. Just awful. You are so strong.
And yes, Maggie….you DID earn that scar. Probably more than most.
I was thinking the same thing. Moms with angel babies are still moms, but without the distraction of a gorgeous little bean during the healing period. My two angel babies were brutal to get over. Learning that I can never have a live birth even more so. The scars are all internal for me, but still earned in blood and tears.
@@celticphoenix2579 so sorry for what you’ve gone through. Sending all the internet hugs and love ❤
So sorry for what you’ve gone through. Sending you all the internet hugs and love. ❤
@@paisley1053 thank you 😊
Pulling the strip off of the incision is nerve wracking and made me feel nauseous because I was so nervous
Hey 👋 I don’t have an ostomy nor have I had to earn a csec scar. You’ve been through soooo much but your attitude is awesome. I’m sure there’s loads going on behind the scenes, emotionally, however I want to let you know I’ve been following and I think you are so informative and super brave, even if you don’t feel like you are xx
This brings back painful memories from when I had my surgery and had to remove the steri strips myself. I just waited for them to fall off by themselves cause I did not want to touch them.
I'm glad it's healing well for you, I hate that numb feeling too. I'm happy your on the mend 😊
My scar from my ectopic pregnancy surgery was numb and/or hyper sensitive for a little over a year. Then suddenly it wasn't. It was so strange. Thankfully all is normal there now.
When I had my thyroidectomy surgery I had the steri-strips too, they were painful to try and remove, so I waited until I saw my doctor and he removed them, they sting a bit but not all bad. But that weird numb pain is relatable I had that for a while on my neck and it was really strange. Luckily I got the sensation back except right on the surgery scar itself. Vitamin E really helped and felt soooo good massaging the scar with it.
You're doing a good job. We are all proud of you. ❤
I love that your flat bread was ❤shaped!
I’m in the process of figuring out foods after a surgery. It’s rough! Proud of you. 😊
I admire you for showing us your scar. Your videos are amazing. You are amazing!
Your scar looks really good and as you know the numbness will resolve in time. I had a ten inch incision when I had my son as he weighed 11 pounds 4 ounces and I am small like you.
The numbness was along the top of the incision but I only noticed the strange sensation when I leaned against something!
You are doing incredibly well Maggie and I will continue to follow your progress.
Wishing you well and take care.
Hugs from the UK.
It looks a very neat incision. Looks like it’s healing well. Hopefully sensation will come back soon. Keeping you in my prayers xx😢
Your incision looks great Maggie! You can't even tell you have an incision. And you are still healing. They did a fantastic job!! ❤
I had a c-section almost 46 years ago. It was vertical though. I was fortunate that I had no issues or problems at all. I was scared because they stapled it and I was afraid when they were going to remove them. But it was fine and I was okay. I know you will be too. ❤
I am awed that you had the motivation and ability to make this culinary feast with what you have been through -even with my mundane, average days, I don’t have this motivation! The result looks like a masterpiece. I hope you are able to enjoy lots of delicious foods as you recover-you deserve lots of treats ♥️
I am glad that you are feeling better. The incision looks good! So sorry about all your challenges. Life is full of challenges!
About the numbness around the incision, a lot of c-section mamas do say they had numbness over their incision.
Maggie, you can be my pastry chef anytime😉 praying for your health🙏
Hi Maggie. Your incision looks incredible. They did a great job.
The gel pads look amazing. I don't think my daughter used them. Not sure she knew that they even existed.
You look fabulous. Glad that you are getting your strength back. 💖💖
That flat bread looks so good! I can relate to being numb. I lost the feeling in my dominant thumb after a work injury and it sucks. So glad your feeling better ❤
Round to your side, place a hand on your incision then get up. A small pillow works well for getting up. Had a few incisions on my low belly.
Your incision looks good watching you pull the strips off made my c section scar feel for you 😊
Incision looking great. Update us as needed.
Hello dear Maggie so glad to see you smiling ❤
Really girl. You are such an amazing person. I have a similar scar and you are doing great for 11 days out.
I don’t usually comment on videos but I felt compelled to comment. First, you are a boss queen! I’ve watched your content for a while and I have learned so much. I’ve had 4 c-sections and an open total hysterectomy (at 34) with scar tissue removal. All the incisions were the low vertical like yours. It’s been almost 14 years and it’s still numb. It’s such a weird feeling and super hard to shave. I’m bigger and can’t see what I’m trying to shave and there are hairs right where the scar is, I’ve cut myself numerous times. Finally bribed my second oldest to pull them out with tweezers 🤣😂🤣😂
I can’t believe how mobile you are so soon after surgery, it took 4-6 weeks after each c-section and 12 weeks after my hysterectomy to be able to go about my normal routine. I also had unknown infertility issues as well as 4 miscarriages. I did eventually have 4 babies, so please don’t give up hope. It was a very dark, frustrating and discouraging time in my life. Holding space for you. Thank you for sharing your experience with the world.
The surgeon is a great stitcher Maggie. It looks nice, I’m sure if will be unnoticeable in no time, and even if it’s not totally, you’d still be gorgeous ❤
SO PROUD of how you’ve dealt with this whole this Maggie! ❤❤❤❤ Sending lots of love to you girl !!!! 🙏🏼☺️
Maggie, you are such an inspiration! I just had a permanent colostomy. I’m moving toward a new life with different set of problems! You’ve been through it all! As we know, you don’t get away from problems…it’s all in the way you set your mind to accept the change! I would be a basket case without my ostomates!!!
Your incision is looking good!! Your pizza looks even better 💗💗
Cheering and praying for you!!
You are a special person. I love how down to earth and smart you are.
much love and hope you heal soon . x
Bless you!
So glad you are feeling better. What you cooked looked delicious!
Your incision looks really good. I think it will heal pretty well. But yes keep it real surgery sucks. I'm 38 and probably have a hysterectomy in my near future. I so don't look forward to it. Every surgery I had went pretty wrong and I've always gotten an infection. So not very keen for another one. Hope you're healing goes smoothly. ❤
I think you might be the bravest person I know! Wow! Everything you’ve been through is just incredible. I’ve been following you for awhile now, I have ulcerative colitis, thankfully it’s in remission right now thanks to Remicade. Your bravery and acceptance to everything you’ve been going through is just admirable.💕🙏🏻😊
Maggie you are such an inspiration.
It's normal for the scar to feel numb. Your incision looks great.
Your incision looks great!
Thank you for sharing all of this with us, I'm sure you get tired of hearing "you're so brave!" ... but, really, it takes some serious fortitude to be this open with people, helping them find maybe a little sympathy or understanding knowing there's others out there that have gone through/are going through the same or similar things that they are. That's a very powerful purpose you're serving.
That bread looked soooo good!
Looks good. You’re brave. Thanks for sharing. 💚
Maggie, you are brave for doing the bandage change on video! Your scar looks good! HUGS
Your incision looks really good! It's very similar to the scar I have from getting my ostomy. Mine might be a little shorter, but in the same area and is also numb. I'm so glad it looked good and gave you some relief. ❤
Well done you ❤❤
Your new scar looks fantastic!! Like a little lower belly smile ❤
You're doing great Maggie! Your incision is healing beautifully, and soon you'll feel back to normal. Even so, take it slowly and although it's tempting, don't over do it. The pizza looked delicious-you made me hungry. If you like balsamic vinegar, it tastes great sprinkled on grape tomatoes. Don't you just love Pinterest?! I just went down a rabbit hole of Nancy Meyer home designs, from movie sets. Such fun to dream. Your plants are thriving...love the colours of the coleus! Thank you for sharing with us so generously. You are helping so many others!
That scar looks gorgeous!
The textured side is so air can get in there and heal your incision. Good luck this one will heal right. 😉I love your videos and the ones you just went through had me in tears. 😊
I am 71 and have very many deep stretch marks from my first child, and then a c section from second. An appendectomy too! Did not gain lots of weight during pregnancy just have skin that scarred. How I hated those scars. How ashamed I was! See how I had to say it wasn’t due to weight gain? I have 2 children that I love sooo much. Thank you for helping me accept myself more at 71 years of age!
Sending you healing vibes , your scar looks good. I have had two c sections , looks a lot like mine. It will heal very nicely.
Your scar looks good. Prayer for a speedy recovery. I had c-section that looked similar to yours. I can hardly see it at all now. My father in law had an emergency colostomy Sunday night after a perforated colon. He is still in ICU and just taken off a ventilator. He is doing fairly well considering all he has been through. I have been watching your videos for about a year. So amazing how God puts people in our life to prepare us for things yet to come. You are a blessing to so many. I will have my father in law watching you once he is better. Thank you for sharing valuable information.
You’re doing good. I’m having urostomy Friday.
Maggie, you did EARN that scar!!! You fought hard for your little bean. Your body served it well. Big hugs!! ❤
11:26 this is satisfying.
Boy has this brought back memories for me of those post-op days after my c-sections. I feel for you girl! My heart truly goes out to you that your incision wasn't "earned" (good grief) and is a sad reminder of what was lost. Life isn't always fair is it? 💔
❤so happy you are feeling better Maggie . Incision looks very good. Those are nice bandages too, should protect it very well and keep you comfy❤
Hey Maggie, you created a good lunch...I got hungry!!!...you will be okay!!! Thanks for sharing!!!❤
Get the sweet onions and they won't make you cry. On some of the bags of sweet onions, it might have on it. Never cry. I didn't know this until recently and I'm 69 yrs old.
Hello, and it looks very good as mine did spit at one side. All the very best and take care.
you probably know this, but a nerve takes about a year to properly heal, if it ever heals at all
You will love the scar thingy lol. Your scar looks so good! So does the bread. Now I need dinner! Have a great evening ❤❤
They are fantastic!! Thank you so much!
Plant your tomatoes deep. You can lay them in a trench and curve the tops out of the soil. But keep the leaves and fruit from resting on the soil. They will do really well!
Oh your scar looks brilliant...
and dont worry about your kitchen, it looks like a kitchen looks. lovely and lively :). i have seen things... and grew up in a kitchen which fits the description of ...disgusting so believe me you are good! ♡
The plants are looking great! Glad the scar is healing well so far
Unrelated: for anyone wondering, she said dehiscence when talking about her midline scar.
Glad you’re feeling better now. Can you tell us about your pouch cover. I would like to get one for my pouch.
