    Another great DIY video, especially on the IBS replacement. Please correct me if I'm incorrect, but "registering" does 2 things.
    1. registers in the memory when the service was done (new battery install) and
    2. erases the current rolling 5 day histogram of the SOC (state of charge), so it can build a new 5 day rolling histogram of SOC.
    Coding is only needed if you change the type of battery (AGM or Acid) &/or a different aH rating battery than what was originally coded for the car.
    Thanks for the post & keep the videos coming!

    • @Zeiten
      @Zeiten  Před 2 lety

      I’d say you are correct, but agm to agm still needs registration to at least update service info but still also for most efficient charging

    When changing the IBS do you need to reprogram the battery because it’s a new sensor or does it automatically charge like it’s suppose to after you replace it?

  • @Viperoloff01
    @Viperoloff01 Před 2 lety

    What scanner do you use? I have m54 330i e46 which i use DIS and fairly familiar with that and working on the car. Bought a e70 n63 2011 2yrs back got the updated bmw diagnostic software but has not used it yet other than the initial install. So curious what is less intimidating. Really like your videos as well

    Hi Tim, I have the same x5 3.0 2008 & since I got it a year ago I’ve had sound issues especially after a car wash or rainy days. My radio has no sound at all & the master control for the windows & side view mirrors don’t function. I the it may be a ground issue. Any ideas?

      Well check your footwell module probably gets flooded, check your door seals and drain passages under the hood

    I have a question regarding the a/c pressure switch...is it true that the a/c system has to be evacuated before replacing this switch?..I've heard the port it threads into is like a schrader valve, so it would close itself off...but I also keep hearing it will let freon escape, so I'm not sure what's true...if you know for sure, I'd appreciate it

    • @Zeiten
      @Zeiten  Před 2 lety

      Can’t say for sure as I don’t really work on a/c systems but it only makes sense that it will drain the system if you remove the sensor I doubt there is a valve there

    • @tysoncross1120
      @tysoncross1120 Před 2 lety

      @@Zeiten the reason the schrader valve can make sense is bcuz since it's a 'pressure switch'; it's checking the pressure(high side) like on a tire, but to determine if the compressor should engage...and the part itself(64539323658) has a center hole, where a valve stem could enter, once threaded...I've just never received a consistent answer regarding this...and I'd hate to have to pay an a/c shop to evacuate the system to replace a part that would take 5min otherwise...and then pay to have it refilled(speaking of, that's a pressure valve on the low side)...but that's classic bmw, take something simple and make it tedious...thanks anyway...appreciate your vids

    2013 X5 35i. 145,000mi. Excellent condition. On a trip this weekend car started hesitating/stuttering when accelerating at speed...say trying to pass from 50-60. Press accelerator and car hesitates/bucks. Spark plugs and coils? Something else? Thank you!

    • @Zeiten
      @Zeiten  Před 6 měsíci

      Scan it, most common and first thing i would look into is if ignition coils, most likely one failed and causing a misfire, but get it scanned don’t shoot in the dark

    I have one question which fluid can I use for power steering because the reservoir said ATF on top green paper but if you look under the green paper said CHS11 I have same BMW X5 2008 3.0si e70 can you tell me why

    • @Zeiten
      @Zeiten  Před 2 lety +1

      Use chf-11, in older bmws transmission fluid was used in power steering systems (dexron 6) so consider it “hello” from the past😂

    • @armandohilario

      @@Zeiten Replaced my waterpump/Tstat 3 months ago and I got the warning few nights that X5 was over heating so I had it towed to shop and today they called me and said my battery is bad/wasn’t registered. Battery was replaced in 2019 and they said my IBS sensor is bad so it might have shorted my waterpump. Never had any starting issues with the car and never got warning on my dash about a bad battery. So I’m really confused.
