Great video step by step instructions and very good camera angles, I completed the brake job today front and rear with your video instructions the only problem I had was piston stuck on all wheels and I dont have that special tool to push the piston back so what I did that I loosen the brake oil cap and after 2 mins the piston pushed back in place without any hesitation thus made enough room to install the new pads. Overall 10 out of 10.
your video and your shared work really help enormously. you are a professional. I don't intend to do it as fast and easy as you did, but I know that thanks to your verbal and visual instructions, I will be able to do it. God bless you, and thank you very much again for your effort and work. keep going.
I was told the rear brakes required extra labor due to the electronic park brake (total B.S.) Your video is great and much credit goes to the camera operator.
100--100 young Man,I have a 2013 x5 35i,3.0 litre turbo, you are to the point in "real life and real time" ,Excellent video and great detail, even about your floor jack placement on the lifting areas!!great pointers on the anticlips and perfect camera positioning!! BTW, Why did you change the sensors??Were they are working ok and it do not seem like any damage on them or is it just good preventative maintenance practice and are they just a 1 time use only item??perfect!! thanking you in advance
The sensors are one time use, if you are replacing pads when they have 30-40% left then your sensor can be reused, but if the number is below that the sensor gets grinded and cannot be used with new pads also reset won’t be possible in that case
I have two questions first How to adjust the brake shoes and second you know what is the PCV angle valve I find out when I remove the intake manifold on bmw X5 2008 3.0si
Thanks for this brake change video!! I can do it!! I have a question for you regarding my 2010 X5. I had been told it was a fuel pump issue, and I thought it was a fuel filter problem. It started 3 months ago, lasted about a week, and then it quit doing it.... then, it started doing it again and has been doing it consistently since we thought we stranded out of town Labor day in Sept. The car cranks with the push button starter, but won't turn over. Thus the thoughts of it being one of the two mentioned fuel issues above. I had figured out though, that by getting out and rocking the car from behind a few times, swishing up the fuel inside the tank, it then will start. It will restart every time I shut it off if I drive places, until it is shut off and sits for several hours. Then the NO START thing happens again..... until I rock it again. Could there be something inside the tank that blocks the fuel uptake tube or hose? Or could it be the fuel filter?? It just seems to me that if it were the fuel pump, it would have stopped working all together after 3 months, plus why would it work ok when fuel was swished around? Just thought you might have seen this issue before. I bought the vehicle used in June, and have not found a repair place yet, which I obviously need to do. Thanks if you have any thoughts for me!! Doug
Thank you, regarding your issue it easily can be fuel pump and those are the signs of it going out seen plenty of that, also can be fuel pump control unit but all of that is just guesses, inspection is necessary
You have tightened the bolts by feel. As the main purpose of the video is to show the correct way, you should have shown or say torque to specs. Hope you take this as constructive criticism. Apart from the that your video is great.
Would wiping a small amount of antiseize on the mating surface between the hub and the rim prevent the wheel from needing to be kicked when taking it off?
Not at all, just make sure parking brake is released when replacing the rotors, if only pads replacement don’t need to do anything at all with parking brake
@@Zeiten I think all E70 X5 has electric parking brake, some use an electrical actuator that activates cables to standard drum-style parking brake assemblies, others have electric actuators directly on the brake calipers, you'll need to manually retract it or put it in service mode to remove the caliper!
hello great chanel i have bmw x6 2011 x35i petrol does it the same side sensor as that car x5? do u get the sensor with your brake?if not does it metter if its right or left side sensor? what impact u use?what is the 7 mm u use to open and close? thanks
Just done this and now there’s a knocking sound coming from the driver side, it knocks faster when I speed up and slower when I slow down so it’s relative to the cars speed, any idea what this could be?
My mechanic is telling me to replace the rotors each time I get my brake pads changed for my e70 2013. Typically is that the case and if not how often do you recommend changing the rotors and brake pads?
Surprised you didn’t apply a little high temp synthetic brake grease ( e.g ATE Plastilube )on the sliding surfaces as described, and illustrated, in the official Bentley service manual !
This information is wrong it depends on condition or the more common one how much the disc/rota is worn (there is a measuring tool and the ware limit has to be researched from a tec data)
Not necessary, the only thing that can make pads not to make any kind of noise is brake pad material, all other things don’t work, not lubricants or any pastes, just a waste of money
Hello I hope you can help I followed your instructions but I cannot remove the rear disc at all it seems to be stuck on or held on I have removed the small boat but it just seems to be stuck either by break or something I don’t know if you got any ideas please
Rotors can get pretty stuck, you need a heavy hammer (3-4 lb at least) and hit it as hard as you can, nothing holds it except this one allen bolt, release parking brake of course
@@Zeiten Hi, I didn’t disconnect the electric motor…. I noticed that the rear rotor would not come off and was held in place by a spring type of mechanism. Sorry I am not the best mechanic, if I remove the electric motor and use the torque 45 and screw clockwise, will this release the rotor? Thank you in advance

All bmws have the same location for brake pad wear sensors, there is no left or right sensor just front and back they are different length

The left rear has Autmati Parking Brake..you would damage it by just pressing the piston...it seems to be missing in an otherwise great video
On e70 x5 automatic parking brake is not the same as on 3 or 5 series and not on the brake caliper

once the rotor has an ‘outer lip’ replace it.

Hi Tim, any recommendation on how often to replace the rotors?
Usually rotors last 2-3 times longer than pads, so i’d say every third pad change
This information is wrong it depends on condition or the more common one how much the disc/rota is worn (there is a measuring tool and the ware limit has to be researched from a tec data)

Don’t forget to check your brake fluid reservoir
Hello, please what is the power of the jack? 3Ton, 2.5Ton?
3 tons, doesn’t really matter
any way you can make a F15 2017 X5 brake video? There is nothing out there.
As soon as it comes along we’ll do it
Which Car jack you used ? max Height 400mm ??? or 500mm ??
Can’t really say, standard 2 ton jacks you can get at any auto parts store
Why didn't you use anti-squeal paste on the pads?
Not necessary, the only thing that can make pads not to make any kind of noise is brake pad material, all other things don’t work, not lubricants or any pastes, just a waste of money
This got me through with ez the only difference on my 2011 x5 is I only had 1 wear sensor on the right side. Thank big time
