When I first saw the Ruger Security 380, I immediately phoned Ruger and asked them to send it to me.
They hesitated and wondered why I wanted it, thinking that there wasn't anyone interested in it in my audience.
But I knew different.
The moment I saw the Ruger Security 380, I realized that it was the solution for all the people that I had talked to for years.
No matter what I said or advice I gave them, they simply didn't want a gun in 9mm.

I'm a full grown large man and I love .380's. I love the size, the ease of carry and the low recoil. Yes I am aware of the power of larger rounds but trust me you do not want to get hit with a well placed .380 any more than you want to take a .44 mag
15 rounds of 380 ain't no joke
Got a question for you... Do you think you could confidently shoot it with one arm???
@@tog4867 which?
a .44 no.
9mm sorta.
10mm no. 40 SW, no. 357 mag, yes. 22 many times.
Honestly haven't fired a 380 before tho.
@@Ouash1 I mean, we Are talking about a round that has almost the same diameter (but not weight) of a 9mm round. I've seen vids of 380 jhp's fire through refrigerators, toilets, bathtubs, clothes washing machines, all kinds of stuff. Dishwashers mess with them. All those tines for the plates. Tends to splatter or deflect a lot of rounds that try to go through them.
Tho. While I won't diss on a 380, and wouldn't NOT recommend carrying it for defense... if I could get 15 rounds of 357 in a semi-auto that's where I'd be.
@Lee Tinder how bad is the recoil in the. 357??? I'm looking for my first gun but I have to worry about recoil and being able to handle everything with one hand...
I'm a grown ass man and I want this Security 380 ....
I have a ruger security 380 and trust it with my life!
@@brucesanders8343 , nice, in the mean time I bought a Grand Power P380, it's a Glock 19 sized 380 and it's a beauty .... it's a little heavier than I was expecting ..
Or you could get a Glock 25 😉
Colion: Another market for this great pistol is someone like me, a disabled Vietnam vet (Marine Corps) who no longer has the hand strength to deal with a 9mm. Great video! Please keep up the important work you do in bringing your perspective to your followers. I have always enjoyed watching someone who has an abundance of common sense. Cheers.
You could always load your 9 lighter.
@@gizzyguzzi Good point! I did try it, but my arthritis still did not like the lighter load, but that is a great suggestion for others. Cheers.
@@jeemalsoknownasjimhawkins1294 maybe also the weight of the pistol contributes? I don't know, I had a 9 that loved target loads that barely racked the slide fully. Zero recoil. It was kinda heavy tho.
@@gizzyguzzi Hey, Gizzy! I think you are right about the weight of the pistol. My hands just can't hold what they used to. I wish I was 30 years younger, and hey, as long as I am wishing, I wish I won that $2Billion lottery. Thanks for your valuable comments and maybe someone else reading this will benefit. Cheers again!
@@jeemalsoknownasjimhawkins1294 well. There are lots of poly framed guns these days, lighter but might kick a little more. And I sure notice a full mag can weigh a lot. Maybe you can find something that works for you.
Nearing age 70, I'm pretty much finished with 9 mm as my go-to gun, my carry gun, etc. Although I prefer striker-fired pistols, the Ruger Security .380 is going to become my number one gun.
Exactly why this gun was made.
How tf do you get tired of caliber . You ain’t shooting nobody 😭😭, like your just a service man or something , and you ALWAYS use 9mm.
@@Mihkelwastaken wtf are saying
It's all placement. A ..380 where it counts is better than a .44 magnum where it don't.
Why are you done with 9mm?
My mom is a perfect case for this gun - I took her to the range with the array of carry/nightstand choices (working our way up from .22) and she picked the Smith&Wesson 380EZ. She felt most confident using, manipulating, and shooting it, and there's something to be said about being confident in your defense tools. A .380 you're confident with is much better than the 9 or 45 you're terrified of.
I paid for one for my mom but she has trouble cocking it back ..... She gets it though.
the first gun my girlfriend ever shot was my sisters 380EZ and now i have to buy her one because she fell in love with it lmao
Yep. A friend of a friend helped my 68-year old older sister learn how to shoot a handgun. All she wanted was a nightstand gun - and he put her in a Glock 43. She could barely rack it, could not load it, and the tiny gun jumped all over when she shot it. Bought her a S&W .380 EZ performance center for her birthday. Has a tabbed follower in the mag so like loading a .22, easy to rack, easier to hold, less recoil, and far better, day/night sights - and a safety, so she is not afraid to keep one in the pipe. Now she looks forward to practicing. This is not the gun for everyone, but they serve a growing segment of older and newer shooters.
I'd bought my mom a 380 ez and it didn't work well for her, it constantly stovepiped and occasionally the recoil would cause the safety to engage. Almost every time the last round would jump into the slide and stovepipe the last live round. We had several friends who have 380 ezs of their own and they work perfectly, so the one we got was a lemon I suppose but she isn't comfortable with that gun or another ez so I got her a p365 380, it's been a dream for her she loves it, it's just as easy to rack and it has 2-4 more rounds on tap, but no loading tab, which is a plus for her as that hurt her fingers to use that in the first place, but a minus for most.
S&W is a little late with the 380 "Equalizer"...
I bought this right after it was released. Very easy pistol to shoot. This is my wife's home defense weapon. Great price too. I picked one up for less than $300.
$300?...from where dude?
@@russellking9762got mine for 280 at academy recently. Great ccw gun
0:45 Colion's giggle. You know this gun is legit.
My burly neighbor is a retired federal agent who bought a 9mm Ruger LC9 for when he couldn't conceal his .40S&W Gock 23. On the first trip to shoot his LC9, I carried my wife's Ruger LC380, which was the same gun as the LC9, but chambered for 380. I shot the LC380 much faster and more accurately than he could shoot the LC9. He demanded to know how I could shoot so much better than him and I let him shoot the LC380, which he shot very fast and very accurately. There was simply no way the 9mm pistol could be fired as quickly and accurately as the 380 version of the same pistol.
Did you tell him he was a fascist traitor?
ive been saying this for years that they need to make full sized guns in .380 for people that want something with more power than a .22 but can't handle a 9mm. this would be great for my mom and grandma.
Just steal BRNO's mechanism for smaller calibres. You don't need their super duper NEGA 10mm +++++++ calibre, but it will make smaller calibres much more controllable.
The people who've shot the FK BRNO have said that even though it is shooting such ginormous rounds accurately to pdw/subgun ranges, it only feels like shooting a .45.
So you could have a 9mm that has the recoil of a .22. I want them to make a 10mm with the recoil mechanism so it feels like only .357
I was with you on that, always wishing there was something between the 22 and the 9mm...
Same thoughts. Thank u.
Glock made a 26 (Glock 28) and 19 (Glock 25) sized versions in 380 ACP for foreign markets for many years…just couldn’t buy them in the US, which is a shame
@@scotteger6271 yes I know. however, what I've read is they a now us legal. Talo got the rights to distribute them in the US this month.
I remember there was a time in NYC when the .380 was the gun of choice. It gets the job done fast. Needless to say there's a lot of brothers dead and in jail from that .380
*Dead AND in jail. That's gotta suck* 😂

As you get older with all the hand joint pain that comes with it, the .380's light recoil is pleasant to shoot.
I just wish it didn’t cost so much more than 9mm to buy factory ammo…seems ridiculous that it isn’t less expensive
I have a Ruger .22 that I used as a new fearful owner. I had a Walther 9, but it was too much for me. With my weak wrists, I couldn't even rack the slide without difficulty and the recoil was intimidating and painful. The ranger iffucer, who had pronounced arthritis in her hands, had jyst purchased a S&W S&W Shield 380 EZ and allowed me to try it. I immediately fell in love with it. It felt custom-made to fit my hand, extremely easy to rack/take down, minimal recoil. Physical limitations in my hands were not compromised. For me, the .22 is fun, the .380 is solid for business. BTW, truly appreciate your informative videos. Bravo.
You can try lighter loads in your 9.
@@gizzyguzzi Thanks, but I don't think a lighter load would take care of not being able to rack the slide or operate the take-down. I even had trouble taking it apart to clean it and almost couldn't get it put back together. My hands and wrists are so bad that they rotated after every shot and spent casings were going back into the ejection port! I sold the 9 mm to my brother, the Marine. Big hands, strong wrists, keen mind, quiet demeanor, and doesn't tolerate any BS. crap. BTW, when I bought the Walther 9 mm (my first ever firearm), HE bought the Walther 45 mm!
@@mirandawarner6866 yes. Some are tricky to take down. Not sure how much that will be better on a 380. Depends on design I guess
@@gizzyguzzi I don't know how other 380s are. My S&W Shield 380 EZ is a dream for me to take down, clean, and reassemble. No scraped knuckles, sprained wrists, broken fingernails, or excessive foul language. As a side note, S&W came out with a 9 mm EZ a while back. Next time I go to the range, I'll ask to test shoot one and compare it to my 380 EZ and the "too much for me" Walther 9 mm. Might be interesting.
@@mirandawarner6866.45 acp isn't the big mythical cannon round people make it out to be. The recoil isn't that bad at all. The 40 S&W has a lot more felt recoil.
The people with problems racking slides, because it’s so hard for them to rack the slide of other guns plus Ruger, has made it affordable for them to buy the gun. For a 67 year old lady when handed this gun was a breath of fresh air to her. The gun is an outstanding firearm. My thanks to Ruger for making the weapon. Great video thank you for sharing.
Exactly, the racking is 100% better than the 9. Will be 70 in a couple of months n this is easy to shoot.
I saw a lady who had to be in her 70s purchase one of these yesterday at my LGS. She'd just had her first shooting lesson and she was rarin' to go. As someone pushing 70 myself, it was a beautiful thing to see.
After seeing 380 ball ammo penetrate ballistic gel blocks to a depth of 18 inches and its almost nonexistence of recoil for follow up shots makes the 380 a viable carry gun for the everyday guy/gal just going to work or store.
Check out Underwood xtreme defender 380. 1400fps. They’re nasty.
Another vote for Underwood Extreme Defender. Its much better than ball in wound damage, and its not going to overpenetrate like many 380 ball rounds can.
@@sweetwater_fowler4960 I understand your desire for the round. But, consider the fight after the fight. Be careful of your round choice name brand. A lawyer will start bringing up the name "Extreme Defender". A bullet with the moniker XTREME IS NOT GOOD. In the civil confines of a courtroom where everybody is dressed nice using flowery language, sipping on coffee just before the proceedings, it will play different. This gives the Attorney whether it is a Prosecutor or Civil, a lead into painting you as the wannabe vigilante that could not wait to shoot somebody at the slightest pretext. The person you shot may be alive (please save me the no he will not be blah, blah blah). He may be dead but there is a hostile witness friend , racial hater, paid witness, etc. Always be able to defend your bullet choice. My brand right now is the cheaper Hornady brand. I can defend it by saying that it was on sale. Which is true. Find out what the Police in your area carry or Sheriff Dept, etc. Then you can say that it is the brand that the Police carry so I figured it was good stuff. Be careful of xtreme names. Any advantage they carry is minimal if any. MHO.
380 over penetrate, not likely@@PatriotPaulUSA
@@PatriotPaulUSA 380 doesn't have a high muzzle velocity and its easier to pass through ballistic gel than a human body. You will have far more to worry about with overpenetration with a 9mm.

I would absolutely buy this & just say it’s for my wife

Uhhh pretty sure lots of guys have already done that but won't fess up ... with that said, i bought one for my wife 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I have a Ruger EC9. For the price, it was an unbelievable deal. The first gun I ever bought was a Ruger single six convertible (my ex-wife still has it).
I have a Ruger 9E. Beautiful, inexpensive little gun. Just reliable and easy to use. Hell, I had my 11 year old nephew shooting the gun with complete control and effectiveness.
For a .380, and a Ruger, looks pretty damn good
New to guns: Why the hate on 22 LRs and .380s, is it a machismo thing? I figured a bullet is a bullet on the other side of the gun.
You are correct!
People do it, not because they have something to say. They do it because they have to say something!
It's been rather hard to find but I managed to get my hands on one at the beginning of the month. It's everything this video says it is. Super easy to shoot even for someone like me that's been at it less than a year.
I love .380 even as a big dude. The bonus is that my small girlfriend actually likes shooting it too :)
I have an ruger lcp 380 & I love it!! I'm in a wheelchair, & it's way easier! Even though I'm A small frame woman, I had a 357 magnum, but became disabled, & it's hard for me to use in a sitting position. The ruger is easier to use sitting, at least for me! Loved the review! Love my gun!!
You would probably be able to shoot this one in the review better than the lcp. Slightly more grip and It would feel like even less recoil with the extra weight
Colion, another great video. Really enjoy your content. I purchased a Security .380 a few weeks ago. Haven’t had a chance to shoot it yet, but look forward to the day. Thanks for all you do for us gun nuts!
I put together a p365 in .380 for my wife. It has suppressor high sights, a RDS, and TLR sub on a Icarus Precision grip module. It’s a great shooter. I would only give my wife a gun that I would carry myself. I don’t shoot it often because I know I would love it and wouldn’t want to shoot and carry my 9mm version. Plus ammo ain’t cheap.
*edit* the grip module also takes the new 17 round magazine for the X macro. That was a nice surprise.
I have the same setup. A Spectre comp 365 for myself I built and the 365 380 for her. I still like shooting the 380 myself more than the 9 lol. Feels like I'm firing a 22! Zero recoil
I've never fired a .380 ACP. I'm sure that I would enjoy shooting this gun, but I can't see myself ever getting one. If I'm going to get a .380 ACP, I'll go with the LCP or the similar tiny Kel-Tec. To me, the reason to get a .380 ACP would be to have something super tiny that I could conceal almost anywhere. If I'm going to get something this size, I'll get it in a 9mm. I'm sure that this guy would be more enjoyable than a similar 9mm, but I just wouldn't see as much point to it.
None of that is to disrespect the .380 ACP as a caliber. From what I've seen, the .380 ACP has similar real world performance to the .38 Special, and I love .38 Special. Mostly, I love revolvers. I spend more time practicing on pistols because I believe that they offer tremendous advantages, but I still love revolvers. In a revolver, the .38 Special round is great, particularly in the smaller-framed, shorter-barreled revolvers.
Maybe I'll never own this model of gun, but I'm glad Ruger is making this model. For many people, this pistol will fill a need better than any other pistol could. I'm glad that the market is addressing their needs.
Big .380 fan here. I'm heavily considering this over the other big .380 gun that was announced, the Beretta 80X.
Why not both :)
I'm just saying that because I want both too. I already got this one. Hoping I can snag the Beretta either late this year or early next.
@@rensuchan if I had the money, absolutely, but $800 for the 80X is nuts.
@@spartaninvirginia I agree, it's pricey. Can get 2 of these for the price of one Beretta 80X :(
@@rensuchan if the Beretta we're $200 cheaper, It'd be an easier sell.
@@spartaninvirginia that’s the mindset I have why spend the extra funds on a so called better brand, whenever I can use that same money and go with a Ruger and still have leftover $ for freedom seeds / accessories.
It's for my mom, she's a little gun shy and recoil sensitive. I originaly bought her a glock 19, she can shoot it but I can tell that she's afraid of it and she has some issues opperating it, so i'm getting one for her. i'm hoping changing the Ruger Security 380 will work better for her.
I really like 380 but Colin is right about the ammo is very expensive.
The box of Leigh defence 380 extreme defender is not to bad
Shop around online. Can find range rounds for not a lot more than 9mm, and some ridiculous deals on certain self-defense ammo... usually Norma MHP rounds. They might expand better with a larger .380 handgun like this with a bit more velocity.
No the .380 prices suck
I am looking for something to carry concealed every day but I don't wanna carry my .45 or 9mm. This looks likes it's right up my alley and the price is right. Great review! Thanks for sharing!
Loved this video. Thinking of this gun for an elderly, female family member.
Also check out the Ruger LCP II for her. I'm a 77 year old woman who has carried this LCP 24/7/365 with utter comfort and confidence for over two years, after checking out at least a dozen others. 22 longs are cheaper and easier to come by, too!
@@DvCM thank you for the recommendation! 😃
I'm a man and I love 380. I also carry 9mm and 10mm and sometimes 5.7
Yep. I carry a 9mm Makarov which isn't much hottwe than .380
yeah, I'm in that 380 crowd. my edc is a kimber micro 380
I'm a 1911 fanboy, and when I found that Rock Island was building a 3/4 size 1911 A1 in .380, I knew that was going to be my primary conceal carry. A;ll I had to do is lighten the slide a tiny bit and find the right ammo. This thing is quick and accurate....and it fits my hip so well, I sometimes forget I'm wearing it.. I also like the Ruger LCP MAX , but it's too small, and too snappy in .380.
You carry a "baby rock"? No judgement here, cool gun. But, can I recommend the springfield 911 in .380? Shouldn't be hard to find used and is a very smooth shooter for those who like the 1911 pattern. 8 round capacity, weighs less than a glock 42 and is thinner.
@@nickamalfitano3613 No judgement here, but Rock Island Armory has been building 1911s since ww2. Mine has never failed to chamber, fire or eject a round in 2 years.
I absolutely love that gun. It's just a unique offering and it looks amazing too. Can't wait to buy one.
His laugh in the beginning says it all. You know he likes it when you hear that laugh.
Thanks for the review. I just got one today after getting cleared to get it. I've really only shot with .380 most of my life so I'm so used to it. But I've always had cheap guns, this is the first gun I've had that I'm proud to really own. Before this it was Hipoint and a Lorsen that my dad owned.
My wife is very recoil sensitive, and had a hard time manipulating the slide on most pistols. She settled on a Smith & Wesson Shield 380 EZ Performance Center. It fits her hands, and she feels confident using it.
Most people I've encountered who "hate 9mm" don't like it because of perceived lack of stopping power and effectiveness (depending on load, 9mm has roughly 50% more energy). I don't think they are the intended audience. It's for people with less hand strength or who want easier to control follow-up shots.
*sigh* "People who hate 9mm" [snappy recoil].
That last sentence of yours is precisely what he meant.
Some people hate it just because. I know an 80 year old guy (Borderline fudd) who has an ar9 lower but wants to build it in 40cal because "I'm not a fine of 9mm". Okay I can understand that, stopping power and what not.... He then proceeds to go and Buy a 30 super carry. I didn't have the heart to tell him its just 9mm but worse.

I’m a big dude and I’m constantly switching between 9mm and .380 as my EDC. The purist are very focused on .45 but I have zero issues putting in work with my .380. 💪🏼
I have both the SW 380EZ and the Ruger Security 380. Love both of them. Highly recommend!!
Terminal ballistics are important but more important is to have a gun that fits your hand, that you enjoy practicing with, can shoot one handed with either hand, and (if you carry) something that you won't leave home because it is too heavy. It also helps if it is easy to take down and maintain.
Ballistics mean nothing if your shots don't hit the target.

The Security 380 just made the S&W EZ 380 and the Sig Sauer p365 380 overpriced by $200 or more.
My adult daughter has been hunting for a firearm she actually enjoys shooting at the range and we picked one of these up about a week ago. 400 rounds later. She found it.
I carried a .45 sig220 for 10 years with a ruger lcp .380 in a ankle holster. Problem was the .45 was too big and the ruger was too small, I couldn't even get all my fingers on the grip lol. So now I have a sig 320 9mm and the ruger .380 security as my backup and they're just right.
I have a LCP380 and can’t stand shooting it. My middle aged male yeti hands doesn’t like it either. I carry a 9mm everyday but I like a good 380 also. I may look into one of those Rugers. Thank you for sharing this.
I'm a Ruger Lover, so I thoroughly enjoy your reviews! I have four and hope to make it more!
Have the Security 9 as my first gun and I love it! Great ergonomics and just a solid pistol for what you pay vs what you get. This 380 has likewise reviewed very well for Ruger since its release. It looks super easy to shoot. Great job Ruger and thanks as always CN for your great reviews!
A few years before my father passed, he asked me to look at his ppk. He thought the slide had locked up. I very quickly found that there was nothing wrong with the gun, it was his almost overnight loss in arm/hand strength following a major surgery that left him unable to work the slide.
I gave him my model 638, and he gave me the ppk. From that day back in 2015, I’ve understood the value in this type of gun. Father Time is going to get us all, and I wholly endorse this platform. The Security 380 is an excellent companion to the LCP Max, my current edc. The M&P EZ models are also good, I’m just partial to Ruger in this case (15+1).
Thanks, Colion!
I promised a good friend a couple of years ago that I'd buy him his first gun and couldn't think of a good fit for him. He's far from a gun guy so I wanted him to have something that is easy to learn on and still capable of being a defensive option and budget friendly. Looks perfect for a new shooter.
I have one of these and it's fantastic. If 380 ammo is a bit costly for you Ammoseek is your friend, I also found that with the safety it can be a little tricky to engage, but it is easier to engage if you push the rear of the safety with the tip of your thumb and it is even easier to disengage with the web of my thumb as I go to grip the gun. Or just like Colion said you can just keep the safety off. Also this gun itself isn't expensive it was less than $350 comes with one 10 round mag with extra space for your pinkie and one 15 round magazine for the 10 rounder you can also make that a flush fit if you so choose. Great video Colion!
Ruger usually only gives you on mag, i was surpried.
As a ruger fan and RGR stock owner. Thank you for supporting and showing off their products.
That is a very handsome pistol; and it’s a great option for CC. Thank you, Colion!
Thank you Colion. I do like shooting 9mm and .45 occasionally. I’m older and the recoil of those guns does wear me out. Some 9mm I have I don’t like shooting as much because of the recoil. Hard to get proficient with something you don’t like to shoot a lot.
I love these reviews. Thanks again Mr Noir
Love this! I just picked one of these up for the wife who has some issues with manipulating the slides on heavier guns. Good to hear someone with substantial experience excited to shoot it. Thanks for the video and thanks for the review!
The Light rack of the Security 380 is also a great advantage of this firearm in direct competition of the S&W EZ 380 only in a double stack 15 round magazine….Another win for Ruger!! Thanks Colion for demonstrating the low recoil of this firearm….Im planning on getting one for my wife…..!
Great video. Might be nice to show some accuracy tests. Keep up the good work!
Right, have a Ruger and like the .380, told by a trainer, disabled Cop, that the 9 is too much, it can go through someone AND a mailbox, whatever you carry, that projectile leaves your gun, YOU are responsible for where it lands.
With a reputable jacketed hollow point that isn’t a problem. Get some Federal HSTs, Speer Gold Dots, or Hornady Critical Defense and you’ll be fine as it relates to over-penetration. 9mm JHP’s aren’t known for over-penetrating. Although, it’s your gunfight, so carry what you want.
Have a Feg Mark 2 .380 for my daily IWB carry and I love it.
I'm interested in the Beretta 80x cheetah, another mid-ish sized 380. There's definitely a market for this form factor.

Thanks for the video it saved me a lot of time looking for the right one for her and of course with us getting her one means I can get one for myself also which is always a plus.
Seems like there has been a resurgence of interest in .380 lately. If the price of the ammo starts to come down, I might pick one of these up…
Supply and demand won’t allow a price drop. i picked up 50 rd boxes of round ball of S&B and PMC for $20 bucks a box.
The prices suck for .380
I stopped shooting mine
Depending on where you look you can get 380 for pre covid prices. Usually have to buy online.
I can’t I’m behind the iron curtain in Ca
Lee will sell you a six station progressive with dies for around $350 then it is cheaper than 9
Nice looking little 380 but I carry either a 9 or 40 in that size pistol. My 380 pistols are for pocket backup.
I think that Ruger Security 380 is a full sized frame.
everything you said about the gun being enjoyable, correct
not needing all fundamentals, correct
shoots like a dream, correct
PERFECT REVIEW!!!!!
Thanks for your great review of the Ruger Security 380 pistol. I fire a wide range of firearms from the .380 pistols to 45 ACP and .357 Magnums. That said, I find the larger size of the Security 380 a pleasure to shoot. The grip size is slightly larger than the LCP Max, enough so that its comfort factor is much greater than micro-compacts.
I am very happy to have as my side arm my Ruger Security 9, very reliable and with it’s 15 round per clip gives me great SECURITY!
I love my HK VP9. I also have a Walther PPK/S 380. I can shoot both of them accurately. The HK VP9 has soft recoil. The PPK/S has an unforgiving recoil. This 380 you’re showing us might just be my 380 replacement. I’ve been wanting to retire my PPK/S for sentimental reasons. It was my stepfather’s hand gun.
Thank you brother Colin, you always give very intelligent detail
Looks like a new one coming for the family. My CCW is a bersa 380 thunder simply because they have next to zero imprint even with a Fobus OWB paddle holster and it being a nail driver for the
Great video. Made me get off the fence about getting one.
Nice video, Colion. I've been considering a .380 for either a "bedside" gun as you put it, or perhaps as a back-up piece to the .40 S& W Beretta I normally keep as my primary sidearm. The Ruger Security .380 is now among those I will consider for that secondary roll. Also, I think my wife will be impressed with the Ruger offering as well. She is disabled and needs something that is easier to rack, but also has higher capacity. We had been considering the S&W 380 EZ for her, however, if the "easier to rack" requirement would be fulfilled by the Ruger, that would be another point in its' favor.
This looks like a great option for seniors. I have weak hands and find it hard to rack the slide. I was looking at revolvers for ease of use. Hope price point is reasonable soon. Just found your channel and really enjoy your videos.
I just ordered one yesterday mainly due to arthritis in my hands so looking forward to it. Great review.
as a small man weighing in at 105 pounds, I carry a .357 and sleep with it too. I love the stopping power regardless of the fact its just a 9mm with a lot more energy behind the round. I do enjoy the snap a 9mm pistol brings, but with hands that are smaller than most women's, full sized pistols are hard to manipulate, I can control a .357 and .45 better than 9mm on a full size frame. (might have to do with being trained with shotguns and high power rifles before ever even touching a pistol)
I appreciate Colion's nuanced viewpoint on this gun. No, it's not a gun for everyone, but it does serve a purpose.
Love that drum BOOM sound effects.
Thanks!! Newbie here! Your video made me by this for my dad! He loves it! I ended up buying a S&W Equalizer as well!
I have a Ruger Security9 w/ 15 rd mag w sleeve & full length Hogue grip, I like it a lot. Pick with certain longer length ammo though. Mainly love the easy tack slide it glides across the glass-filled nylon grip. I have front & rear fiber optics on it. It shoots like a dream! I’m considering the 380 , just waiting for more reviews. Thnx!
Love mine as well. Talon hand and slide grips, HiViz fiber optics on the front and back, and I had the trigger switched out with the Galloway Precision Seneschal Low Profile Flat Faced Trigger! Great gun!
Idc what anyone says shooting a 9mm out of a subcompact sucks. The recoil is terrible and 380 is on another level of smoothness shooting out of the same package.
You crack me up. You're comment at the end as u walk away. ROFLOL! Im a .40sw guy that's thinking of something lighter & smaller for discreet carry, with aging hands & eyes. The more I look, the more I like . Thanks. ✌️
I think slide racking is one of the more crucial factors for many people when it comes to pistol operation. Hopefully this gun has a slide that's easier to rack than many offerings out there.
Love my Browning and S&W Bodyguard 380 pistols and the recoil. But the price of 380 ammo I don't shoot them very much like you said. Going to the range regularly is a rich man's hobby now.
The spring for a 380 pistols don't need to be as strong as a 9mm pistol and are easier to rack. My wife can't rack the slide of my 9mm pistols but she can easily rack the slide of my 380 pistol (Sig P238).
I don't hate 9mm, but when I first tried a Smith & Wesson 380 EZ it was impossible to miss no matter how I held it. My ONLY lament was the capacity of the 380 EZ...so I am excited for the Ruger Security 380. The Ruger Security 9 is great so I'm expecting the Ruger Security 380 to be fantastic.
Well I had a Taurus PT58C it was just like that firearm, a PT92 chambered in 380, sweet shooter, and fun to shoot.
I was never a 9mm guy! But I bought the canik whiteout and was so impressed I bought 2 more! Canik is a nice choice for 9mm!
I have the tp9sa. Taking a hard look at the new mete mc9.
@@Thomasstauss nice! Mine is the TP9sf the one I shoot! Just got the Miami day signature series! Some dont like it but since I got #65 out of 3050 it will be a nice collector piece!
lol I was about to say this gun seems very unnecessary then I saw the recoil or the lack thereof rather
Your video on ruger security 380 was a very enlightening I think that I will be looking at at caliber of weapon in the future I wrist issues thank you
I just picked mines up today. Same exact size but a bit lighter than my 9mm Taurus. Feels 10 times better than my 9mm
I just ordered a new holster for my Bersa 380 Thunder Plus. It may end up being my summer carry. 15+1 .380 is indeed a valid option, even for a big guy who often carries a .45.
Bersa started it all but I think they should do an updated version. Maybe optics cut w/suppressor height sights.
They did the Bersa Thunder TPR plus. Not cut out but nice lines. Love me a Bersa Thunder though
@@eagleyedye2070 I have the tor9 and love it haven’t tried tpr .380 line
I don't mind the expensive ammo... yet it serve a good purpose, good for self defense , less recoil and a better concealed carry for everyone ✅
I'm a huge .380 fan and after buying the S&W .380 EZ, I felt like there was more to be desired. It's an awesome gun but the grip safety and small magazine just left me wanting more for a .380 cc. Sont get me wrong, I threw a laser/light combo on it and it's going to be an awesome bed side gun. After watching this video, I ordered my new Ruger security .380. They're not the easiest to find right now but I found one for $320.00. Over $100 cheaper than what I paid for my S&W EZ.
I have this with galloway senechal trigger and stainless guide rod and 10% spring rate increased spring love it, trigger is a good upgrade
Yes, fantastic lil' shooter... I'd love to see some ballistic gel testing (or, my favorite is always Paul Harrell's "Meat Target") regarding testing velocity and expansion of one's favorite hollow point .380 ammo with this Ruger's Security 380. Oh, I'm sure there will good expansion, but it's just interesting to watch!
Paul Harrell does, indeed, have a couple of .380 videos.
Hates 9mm? What kind of blasphemy is that? 🤣
I don't care for 9mm, it's bland, boring, a lot like a plain Jane kitchen knife, it's the Nissan Altima if the gun world, it works, but it's nothing to mention or take notice.
When I think of 9mm I think of Gluck.
I don't "hate" it, but it doesn't do it for me.
9mm is just the current fad. Eventually, something will happen, and people will switch again.
@@zack9912000already kinda happening with 10mm lol 👍 9mm will be arpund for a long time tho cuz all the current guns arent going any where
@Z-Link Corrupted 🤣👍🏻I love them all brother. If it goes bang, I want it!🤣 I like big guns, small guns, fat gun's, skinny gun's. What I won't accept is No gun's. 🔥
I assumed the only people who hated 9x19 were people who preferred .45acp
My wife has a Glock 42, which she enjoys shooting. Lately, she started to complain a bit about grip size (too short to manage even .380 recoil for her). Until the security 380 came out, I was stymied as to what she could shoot as comfortably as I do all of my 9mm pistols.
I’m picking it up tomorrow, and can’t wait to let her run it.
I just bought one and what I will be doing, is practicing at the range with 9mm and if I should have to shoot in self defense with 380! You know damn well that I will be spot on with my hits because of the very mild recoil. Yes! of course I will always put a few down range with the 380 to make sure I know my weapon. Be safe and shoot straight 😊
I really enjoy my Ruger Security 380.👊🏾
I have 2 of them. Great little gun
