- #1969CadillacCoupeDeVille Junkyard Find. This #69caddy came all the way from Virginia a few years back to Texas only to be sent to the junkyard. Doesn't really make sense to me but I've seen enough old rides get sent to the yard that it doesn't surprise me anymore. This one was essentially all there with some body rust but decent body Luckily the keys were in it so we got to see what the trunk was like. The channel was bad, real bad. Under the hood the big #Cadillac472 looked to be all there as well. I wonder if they towed it from Virginia or it made it on its own power.

This was when you "made it in the world" by buying a Cadillac. It was an experience that everyone talked about in your neighborhood. Now, when you bring a Cadillac home, it's like bringing home a new Kenmore dishwasher.....
Yup, got it. We got the VIN, we win: J for Coupe DeVille, 9 for 1969 model year, and the rest is the production sequence. As noted previously, 1969 Cadillac VIN number sequences were "rogue" compared to other GM makes and didn't follow the same pattern (Division, then model series, then body style, then year, then assembly plant and production sequence). It would eventually normalize with the rest in a few years, around 1971.
Yes, Virginia all depends. My '79 Trans Am spent time in Shenandoah Valley for a time. I have a letter from that owner and he said, "Nothing like testing out the capabilities of the Pontiac WS6 suspension in the hills and twists of Virginia." Yes, Hurst Airheart was based in Chatsworth, CA.
We got the tag, we can brag: 69 for 1969 model year, 68347 for Coupe DeVille, FWD for Fleetwood body plant in Detroit, then moved a short distance to Clark Street, Detroit, MI for final assembly, 326 for blue Delphine cloth and leather interior trim, (so it appears to be original), 24L for Astral Blue lower exterior paint, 04E for the fifth week of April 1969 production, E for Soft Ray glass, Y for six way power seat adjuster, S for trunk lock, M for power door locks and seat back locks, L for automatic level control, K for automatic climate control, 1 for AM-FM stereo radio. The Clark Street plant in Detroit closed in 1987.
Yes, 472 V8 which would be used through the 1974 model year. It had about 375 HP (gross rating) and about 525 lb-ft of torque, a real stump puller indeed. These would cruise effortlessly down the nation's highways and expressways. Of course, the venerable Turbo 400 transmission backed this up and that was a bulletproof transmission and still is today.
Whoa Nelley, was fine in 1969. Astral Blue and it's over for you. Virginia Tech and it's a mess, what the heck? TH400 and gotta go. Was once fine and worth a buck, now it's out of luck. Ignition was solid state, now it's not so great. That's it, time to quit. "There ain't no ruby in a mountain of rocks and there ain't no Coupe DeVille in the bottom of a Cracker Jack box", by Meat Loaf and this one is at the end of the rope. Going to be flat and that's that. Going to get squished and the Cadu faithful among us are quite pissed.

Looks like my first car. Mine was a 69 silver with half vinyl top 2 door Calais. Wish I had that back.

I’m guessing the transmission seals need replaced. If the motor is good or just in need of minor work the cosmetic would not be that bad to do. Good project and easy sale

Reminds me of a '73 I ran into in a yard here. Car had a touch of rust but was pretty clean otherwise. Looked like it was a couple patches and a good detailing from being able to show it. But had sat a long time by then.
Someone had torn the dash up and done half the work for me so I grabbed the column out of it.

Some rust repair and a new paint job will make that a nice cruiser.

That old boat was made back when Cadillac knew how to make really nice luxury cars looks like with all that tranny fluid & starter fluid in trunk it hadn't to long ran but sheesh dig the interior almost too nice be destroyed even doors are good.

She could be saved. Its a good project for someones car shop business. Imagine her restored with cherry red paint or that original blue. Shes complete, just needs attention mostly on some body areas.

Still many tood parts. Very sad looking car tho but all the lights are good, bumpers, trunk lid, doors maybe, the glass and who knows what else
A hot battery, about 5 gallons just to get it running.I could probably drive this thing to mobile al.

The biggest waste is the interior for sure. It's flawless! The 472 looks like it'll run, but the rust worst is in the back!
Savable? Probably. The channels will be the hardest to replace. Parts car? You'll be spoiled with loads of functional and cosmetic parts!
I bet the yard can sell it if listed no higher that $1800!
The steering wheel looks gross. 70s GM cars had that plastic ugliness when parked in the sun for too long. The Ford steering wheels just crack lol!

For What Little rust damage I seen she is certainly savable me I would just clean up that interior and repaint her black with metal flake and put limo tint on the windows and Cruisin in Style i hope you have had a great day.
