Great video. I love seeing people use, supposedly 'wrong' equipment to catch fish, based on the fact that it's 'a rod', 'a reel', (and other tackle) and it works, so I'll use it. I often use beach-casting set-ups for river fishing, especially for pike on a running ledger, as I would for cod or bass. Many thanks. Ray

Claus Ehmsen thank you Claus! Yes I am using a McLeans salmon weigh net with a soft rubber mesh for fish welfare. It’s a 59 inch version to allow for large salmon up to 59 lbs! The scales are in the handle. Since using this net the salmon feel more relaxed when they recover in the net. Less fin damage and higher survival rate. Cost about 120 pounds but well worth the investment. Wishing you a wonderful new year!
Hi Paul ,I absolutely love and appreciate the effort you put into your video's but could you please upgrade your sound system, as you are virtually inaudible in a lot of them as many other subscribers have mentioned . Everything else is SUPERB,tight lines and a happy New year .
Hi Gerald, thank you for your appreciation! I'm looking at a separate audio feed and close up mic for the new year. The HD contours have poor sound quality due to wind noise reduction. I am using new edit software that is doubling the sound volume for PC use. Even then I have to turn my loud speaker volume up to 100%. Mobile phone's have even less volume capacity - so the new mic will come in handy. Tight line for 2019!
i'm making another film after a long battle with a 25ber from the same pool! You will see that not only am i breathing heavily after the battle - I decide to jump into the pool and become a daft wader!

@@PaulGreenacre what number? I will try spin fishing for salmon for the first time this year. Only fly fished before. I have an Abu 5000, but thinking of trying a fixed as well and like the look of old mitchells.
