It's insane. When Lumen did the little jump, just think what the locations in an Uncharted game could look like if this is the level devs are competing at now. (I actually think Epic are missing a trick confining this character to a demo.)

Remember also ps5 got that new 3d sound engine built in as well. Despite the fact that Unreal 5 is running on all consoles and PC, The mixture of quality and sound is literally breath taking!

This is the Unreal Engine. It is used on both consoles. This tech demonwss just run on a PS5. Unreal runs equally on console and PC. These triangles are not exclusive to Playstation

6:49 It means they don't have to use fake high quality tech, such as Tessellation, to make detail in rocks, walls, cracks on the ground, or clothes. It is billions of compressed triangles sculpting the picture...you can barely see them in the black and white editor.

I've seen a few naysayers and people critiquing this, but this is Early pre release stuff! It's a tech demo, imagine what people will make with this stuff in the next few years, not to mention updates and improvements on the engine itself!

This is definitely awesome publicity for the PS5, though. We are used to tech demos that high end PCs could barely run, let alone consoles. Granted, the PS5 is better than the vast majority of gaming PCs.

This engine is being used to make HELLBLADE 2 for XBOX SERIES X no biggie here😁
epic games has said that these types of graphics are possible because the sssd on the PS5 is actually better than most PCs
Sony did something special with it that allows for the intense graphics without losing fps

This is a third party engine, Sony have they're own engine each generation that will take better advantage of the consoles capabilities. Putting GOW on this would actually limit the results. What you should be saying is " this is amazing but imagine what an in-house first party engine can do."

first party title use custom engines to make the most out of ps5, thats why they don't usually use other engines like unreal or cryengine. Excellent tech demo none the less and its great to now the ps5 will run great too... this is a win for every gamers. Well...except for mobile gamers lol

The only downside of this is like a cg nerd I am is tht it's not gonna be this much great just to mind it's a tech demo to showcase there compatibility of textures sets and dynamics with the surrounding or world building unfortunately there are very low amount of developers ii tht can produce this so ps5 if games come it will be more like horizon remastered or something like cyberpunk or last of us 2 but u can expect tht from hellblade part 2 cos they might be working on tht type of ips and APIs to produce tht type thing thts shown in here so chances tht u will get this type of visuals are only in horror genre rather than in open world games like silent hill or visage or Allison road tht was cancelled were some of the very great visuals in horror genre so but thts jst an opinion so
I mean, all of Sony's first party exclusives should look this good. Maybe not TLoU II or Ghosts being made for this ending gen, but onwards everything should be near this quality

.......unreal has been used for years. It is a staple of gaming. Epic is an old company. They usually always are the first to show off tech demos for new hardware. Same with Unity. This isn't new for them
If you listen they said it had 8k textures and 30fps im almost 100 percent positive it can do 60 fps 4k
8k textures =/= 4k resolution.
It will do 4k 30fps. But not 60. That will be possible with resale tool (maybe).

If this can truly be achieved to run on a PS5 at 30fps imagine how much more you can do with it on a high-end PC. Beside that... the improved illuminaton looks way better than nvidia powered raytracing.
it was rendered at 1440p 30 fps. You can get 60+ fps true 4k on PC.
Yeah after seeing this I understand why Cerny wasn't really caring much about RT in his presentation.RT is nice but it costs way too much, so if you can have something almost as good but that costs less on the GPU, that's most likely what consoles will use. At least for the next gen (ps5/XSX).

@@Yautah Minecraft is pretty much the only game I've seen where RT actually makes it look a ton a better... but that's because the default textures and illumination are garbage - Minecraft's engine is very old and even though it's serves it's purpose just fine even today they could do a lot more with a new engine.

now its the crowd boyos, i dont really care if people hate me, its actually kinda amusing, but on to subject im just saying better graphics, like better quality pixels and texture are inevitable, but it doesnt really break ground here besides wat is expected. look when unreal 5 comes out, im for sure using it, but i dont think its any different from what we already have being developed; for example lets look at the frostbite engine, sure, only ea has access to that but it quite similar, look at battlefield or starwars battlefront, sure maybe not as much pixels but the photo realistic way of mapping seemed to already be underway; the only difference is probably the increased performance at the courtesy of epic, which in my opinion is fantastic if the grade optimization and system utilization is brilliant, im in no way saying the graphics are bad, they are fantastic, all im saying is this is something to be expected and expected something more, perhaps im too cynical and pessimistic, its not retarded to want something more from a company that clearly can afford it, it is stupider to blindly drop your jaws in amusement than to critise it at the expense of soylent disaproval; and im sure down the line people will utilize the engine that will truly innovate its potential as an engine, but that wasnt arguement any of you have posted, i would have agreed to that

Guys, relax! This is just a glorified TECH demo... Maybe only 10% of all the games will look like this. MAYBE! I sort of don't care about their however many billion "triangles" they use to creat mind blowing imagery. If PS5 comes with the Demon's Souls remake made out of only 10 triangles per square inch, 1080 60 fps locked graphics... I am all in!

Not true. This is unreal. This is a made by devs as slice of the engine they themselves worked on.
Unreal does tech demos going back years now for new hardware. They did so for ps2, ps3, ps4, Xbox, 360 and One. Aside from PS2 and Xbox(first OG one), all their tech demos looked insanely good and the games that came out later on the console about a year or 2 into its life cycle they were much better in every way than the tech demo.
This is usually cause devs are learning the new hardware still and given enough time and modders doing their thing they end up learning how to utilize it better.
Also this tech demo is for Unreal Engine 5. It will not be available for devs to use till 2021. This means we won't see a high end game on it on the new consoles for about 2-4 years.

Don't Worry you will never EVER see this level of detail again. Game companies will NEVER EVER build a game of this quality. You can take that to the bank. Even though the tech is there it will never be utilized. Could you imagine the Download size of a full game of this detail not to mention the years it would take to release. Awesome tech demo but kind of miss leading.

Hahaha your incorrect. The only advantage the ps5 has is SSD speed which doesn't change much other than loading times and texture pop in. Stop lying! The ps5 will run mostly with 9.2 tflops and the series x is 12. Cpu wise the series x also has an advantage because it runs at a higher clock!

@@jackpurchase45 Fast SSD makes it possible to load things in right before it needs to be shown on screen, so the console doesnt need to unnecessarily use its computing power when its not needed. Im not sure how good this will work, but if it works as they say PS5 will be much more powerfull.
PS5 ssd is not just 2x faster than the XBOX SSD, but probably around 5x. Thats because Sony fixed many SSD issues, that allows it to hit the max speed always. XBOX SSD will work much slower than the max speed.
