Notice how the judges are watching her layback spin, they knew that she had the best one in the competition.
It was frustrating that Tiffany never went for the 3flip in competition again after the 1984 season. She landed one during the 5 minutes warm-up at the 1986 Nationals but then intentionally doubled it during the actual performance.
Tiff is from my generation. I remember watching her skate along with Katarina and Debbie!
Nice🤗
I REMEMBER TIFFANY CHIN AND AT THAT TIME MY BETTER HALF WAS A DISCIPLINED BALLET DANCER AND I WAS AN ARTISTIC ROLLER SKATER FORCED ME TO WATCH TIFF AND I LEARNED SO MUCH FROM JUST WATCHING HER AND MY TRAINING BECAME MORE OF AN ART THAN JUST A SKATER!😔
I KNOW I LOVE ELAINE AND DEBBIE BUT TIFF! WAS THE ULTIMATE! SHE HAD IT ALL😁
Wow tiffany I know you doubled the last toe, but two Russian splits double axel funny arabians last fast spin. Really really good fight. Really good fight. Hugs
Okay, how many times does the announcer have to tell us she has to win the free skate to win the gold? Enough already.
Me So ____________ ?
She's actually was my coach but because she was trying to help me when I was doing a spin, I fell and had to get stitches. I missed her though cuz I had to quit after. She's an amazing coach
i remember her
she's ur coach?! woah
she used to be renee's coach, but that was like 7 years ago
5.6-5.8 for technical merit with only ONE clean triple jump?! Incredible!
+Dossen A I also thought this was kinda low, but believe it or not, the rest of the women skated WORSE than this, and Tiffany was lucky to go last. Elizabeth Manley actually was third in the LP but she was so far behind she couldnt catch Tiffany for the bronze. Tiffany really only needed to outskate Ivanova for the medal and she only made 2 small errors to Ivanovas two falls. Everyone else fell in their program and a clean program will beat a program with a fall almost every time
Great double flip at the top of the program!
Liked her skating very much. Killer double Axel, better spins than Witt/Thomas, obviously we know she was practicing triple Axel. I think that program could've beaten Witt & Thomas if she had a clean sow and a triple flip.
@nondescriptnyc She also did very well at the 86 Nationals, even with only 8 weeks training leading up to it. It appeared that in the 6-minute warm up of the final flight of skaters she did land a 3Flip, and the fact that she was able to land both the 3Toe and the 3Salchow in the Long was impressive.
Katarina Witt screwed up her triple jump combo in her original program, that's why she finished second here. Otherwise Witt would've collected her third World title in a row.
She did not deserve to be 4th in the short since Leistner and Manley skated cleanly. Both should have beaten her. Don't remember what Ivanova (who was 6th in the short) and Ito did. Kadavy fell in the short.
Does anyone know what became of her. She placed 4th at ‘84 Olympics, and was a National Champion ‘85. I would’ve figured that she would’ve been a contender for the ‘88 Calgary Games
@metsdudenj did she need the flip though? Witt and Thomas didnt do anything like that in their programs?
Scotty sounds so young.
Such a random comment but the hair styles were so old ladyish for such cute young ladies. Guess they were practical.
Gertie Shaw short hair was the style.
@@TravelingMan63 it should be more sleek than voluminous. I had a similar haircut like that and it made my face look smaller.
From what I remember seeing Tiffany's skating first hand, she began to lose her 3F and 3S after the 84 season--and they were pretty much competely gone by the mid-season in 85. I also feel, unfortunately, that the general quality of her skating had declined a bit... So, she skated remarkably well here.
I am a bit surprised, though, to hear that she was landing her 3F all week there because she wasn't landing them in practice at all here in the US, all year...
@aelred123 She was a much better practice skater than a performance skater. She was hitting triple flips all week in Geneva. She recycled the same programs over and over, but no one beat her artistry at the time.
@metsdudenj she could have won here had she skated cleanly. The 4 triples she had planned were the same as Witt and Thomas.
@serenakicksass She had the flip which had she hit she would of won.
Her mother ruined her
how so. Was she like Suzanne Bonaly?
@@vistaprime Worse, fuck her up with mental abuse, and interfered with the coaches.
@@vistaprime worse
It's too bad she never added her triple axel into her competitive programs, that could've won this for her!
She was a wonderful talent. I think her mother created a lot of unnecessary problems. However, she didn't truly have a triple axel - or she would have used it - let's be realistic. It is very rare unless someone is extremely injured that you drop out/retire the year before the olympics. Back then the USA always had a fleet of ladies to take over - in this case Thomas, Kadavy and Trenary were all raring to go.
