Best short.
Absolutely stunning. More figure skating fans should take note of this performance.
I REMEMBER HER SHE WAS THE "ULTIMATE" TALK ABOUT TIMING WITH THE MUSIC SHE KINDA REMINDED ME OF "JANET LYNN"😁💖
My favorite American ladies figure skater. Tiffany had a beautiful, soft graceful precise style on the ice. Feminine yet powerful. She was musical too. Very few ladies skaters had all the qualities that Tiffany did.
Great Artistry!!! Tiffany was in inspiration to many of the following great skaters & recreational skaters.
Tiffany should’ve won both the short and free skate, it wouldn’t have affected Katarina’s placement, but it would’ve given Tiffany that well deserved medal
The Italian judge had it right.
That was amazing....that jump combo into that fabulous footwork to that music. She really had it that year. Its ashame she didn't progress.
She practically had a different music for every element which makes the program a bit bumpy in my opinion
I practiced at the same rink with Tiffany Chin. She never smiled and many of us watched her getting abused during her training. It was sad.
😳 Abused by her coach? And nobody interrupted?
@@rekr3316 Her dragon lady Mom. Tiffany's and Michelle Cho's (former US Jr Champion in the early 90s) Moms were considered the worst of Skate Moms.
@@rekr3316 her mom was very strict and overly demanding
It's a fabulous skate, but it's marred by Dick Button and especially Peggy Fleming cooing ecstatically over every flick of her wrist. I'm all for recognizing excellence (and Tiffany should have won the SP here), but their gushing is irritating.
If you think this is bad watch any Michele Kwan skate of her career, even the mediocre to bad ones.
Love the footwork section to that music. Went together so well! First place short for sure
Unlike today's youngsters there was real maturity in her skating. Beautiful position and line throughout. Quite musical. Manages speed without sacrificing quality.
Should've won the SP. Tiffany was in a class by herself that night. Her performance flowed more than Katarina's. The artistry also superior.
Yes I would have had:
1. Chin
2. Witt
3. Zayak
4. Ivanova
5. Sumners
6. Kondrashova
Although Sumners had a significant error it still was better overall than Kondrashova's skate full of small errors and shaky moments.
Loving that foot work to that music straight on beat
Notice the low marks from the Soviet judge trying to protect Ivanova
lol the Italian judge was apparently the only one who watched the program
@@thomassutherland7032 although ironically it was the US judge who had her 1st, not the Italian. That was mostly due to the low marks the US judge gave Witt though.
deserved first in SP and bronze medal overall
She traveled a lot throughout her first camel spin
@@soehren1 like every other competitor that evening
@@metsdudenj no, most top competitors had tighter spins. I see her third after Zayak and Witt because of that.
@@soehren1 I think she had the edge artistically over Zayak, but Elaine was technically better, I agree that the two Americans should have been 1-2 in the short with Witt 3rd
@@metsdudenj I don't agree Zayak was technically better. Both had great combination spins and jump combinations. Both had strong camel change camel's but Chin added the highlight at the end. Chin's' double axel, footwork sequence, death drop were all clearly superior. So I don't see where Zayak was stronger technically than Chin. I would have had the short program results:
1. Chin
2. Witt
3. Zayak
4. Ivanova
5. Kondrashova
6. Manley
7. Sumners- best program artistically but 1 major error and another minor one where everyone above was clean
This short have been placed first with Elaine second
Got to thank Frank Carroll for teaching her all the basics and making sure she perfected every element.
Spectacular short program! In my opinion, a clear second to Katarina Witt's majestic skate.
@karlowens2 Prior to John Nicks, Tiffany was coached by Frank Carroll, when she went on to win the World Jr. title in 1981.
That combo spin was probably the best in the competition. Good program. She never reached her potential competitively though.
@USAGymnast And bettter choreography and music.
@USAGymnast she definitely did not have better footwork. Katarina's jumps were just as strong too.
Better than Katarina's. Better positions, better spins, jumps had more height. No comparison. Witt got her marks from sleeping with all the East European judges the night before a major competition.
