FILM DESCRIPTION:
A young Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) travels to the Far East, where he's trained in the martial arts by Henri Ducard (Liam Neeson), a member of the mysterious League of Shadows. When Ducard reveals the League's true purpose -- the complete destruction of Gotham City -- Wayne returns to Gotham intent on cleaning up the city without resorting to murder. With the help of Alfred (Michael Caine), his loyal butler, and Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman), a tech expert at Wayne Enterprises, Batman is born.

Fun fact, while filming this scene in Chicago, a drunk driver ran his vehicle into the side of the Tumbler. When asked why he did it, he claimed the Tumbler was an Alien Spacecraft he was just trying to defeat.

Anyone raving about the car chase in The Batman should re-watch this scene. VASTLY more epic, without having to kill innocent civilians - and you're involved emotionally in the outcome. No comparison.

In terms of engine sounds tho 2022 Batman’s Batmobile was nuts.
I feel like this scene really defined both Christian's Bruce and Batman. You can see he's having to switch between both. Bruce for her and Batman for the cops. He knows that time is not a luxury and does his absolute best to lose no time whatsoever, all the while keeping things as smooth as he can so that she doesn't succumb to the toxin.
Perfectly said! And it's also one of the first circumstances where he has to prove if he can handle being both.
I just love the twist they made on his "batmobile". It is not your typical vehicle with bat design on top like the ones from Adam West or Michael Keaton. But more on a tactical side.

@@Light59583yes it is, people love all the marvel films saying stuff like no way home is the best movie but dark knight is the best hero/villian arc and movie 😅followed by batman begins. The dark knight trilogy is whats possible with 0 cgi just vfx(removing wires etc) so this batman is entirely possible in real life so it shows a sense of normality to us. Christopher Nolan is one of the best if not the best director ever. These films are criminally underrated

@@WhiteFangofWar Although especially in his early films (Batman Begins and also The Dark Knight) he used a lot of CGI. Most city panoramas in Batman Begins as well as the train scenes. Or the Two Face face in TDK. I think Nolan would work differently on this today, but back in the days CGI didn't had the reputation it has today.
This is by far my favourite scene of all the Batman movies. The music is superb and Christian Bale is amazing.
I found funny how this 1:03 cop tells Batman to turn of his engine and later in 2:32 he forgot what the Tumbler looked like. Or maybe its just his identical twin.
Unpopular opinion: For me, Batman Begins is better than The Dark Knight.

i love the stealth mode just drops out of view of the cop cars right next to him along with the helicopters
The audio effects guys outdid themselves that acceleration sound at 0:12 combined with the distancing between the Tumbler and the camera really put into scale how fast something that large and heavy can move
That effect is done by Hans Zimmer the composer of the OST. He said in an interview that they created a non-stop pitch noise for the car that imitates a non stop acceleration effect.
Keep in mind, the Tumbler was built to jump over rivers
I love sounds of this car so much! Engine, turbine, servoses - all this sounds too badass!
How that thing didn't break through a roof as it dropped from one to another is beyond me

Nolan is a Genius for using practical effects and putting this in a hyper reality. I think I went to see Batman Begins 5 times in the theater .

I hate the suit in The Batman, and I hate how Pattinson looks in the suit. Just doesn’t look right.
He looks like one of the guys that copy Batman from the beginning of the Dark Knight.
He turns off his headlights and automatically disappears.
Car also has electric motor that’s how he was able to drive next to them without them hearing a sound. That’s why once the lights cut back on you hear the engine Rev back up

This movie is still one of the best and most innovative interpretations of Batman. Feels like a stwp bsckwards to make Batman more realistic than this in 'The Batman' when Nolan found a perfect balance in this film.

I remember watching these scene in the theater. When the tumbler emerged, the entire theater for the rest of these scene was quiet. We all appreciated what were were seeing and for that brief few moments, along with the amazing soundtrack booming, we believed.
Low-key don't get all the raving about Pattinson's Batmobile and how it looks/sounds like a monster, when the freakin' Tumbler's right there!

I was on set when they filmed the part of the chase where the cop car gets flipped by those caltrops that he drops out the back of the batmobile. Was able to sneak on set and watch it. Even got stopped by security but they were cool and just said not to go anywhere near any of the batmobiles they had on set there was like three of them.

The Structural design of the tumbler is that it can withstand immense amount of damage but not against weapons like RPG and missiles .
