With all these modern batman movies that have come out, sometime I forget just how great michael Keaton was as batman. He really set the standard for the character on the big screen.

When you see that beast of a car speeding like a bullet and you hear the turbine rocket sound and the music PURE EPICNESS it is just damn perfect. I get goosebumps..... Best Batmobile period. Best Batman period. Best Bruce Wayne.
Well the good thing about this movie and the Superman movie is, they didn't have to concentrate on a wider universe, stupid in jokes and hints at future characters, they simply concentrated on making this movie as best as they could. Plus the theme of Keaton's Batman and comic book Gotham, look a million miles from the Reeve Superman universe
That and also at 3:09 when he starts to press the gas pedal down even more and that “whirring” sound comes up. I don’t know what it is, but I’ve always thought it was cool and just added to this batmobiles coolness.
Tim Burton and danny elfman are geniuseseses. The way the music coincides with her asking “where are we going?” The music erupts, the shot of his foot pressing on the peddle and the batmobile amped and going aggressive is just gold. Ga-damn i love this entire sequence.
When I saw this at the theatre, when this scene appeared, the audience started screaming like teenage girls watching the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show . . . and I’m on their side! 👍

"Descent into Mystery" is my fav scene in the whole film. There is just one line of dialogue but the scene captures the the bravado, mystery and how majestic Batman really is. The score Elfman provides on top of the visuals done by Burton and the Batmobile really capsulate all that is Dark Knight.
Imagine filming on the second unit with no CGI and just knowing, KNOWING, that with Danny Elfman’s score added post production that this scene would be epic

Batman 89 was the first film I ever saw in the cinema, still a huge batman fan and collector. The reason why it's called Tumbler is because that's the name the military gave it as it was initially a military vehicle. The military aren't gonna call their new weaponised bridging vehicle Batmobile.
They apparently designed it to look like a bat but it was sort of a subtle wink and not necessarily intentional in-universe. Kind of like how Hathaway Catwoman's "ears" are just part of her night vision goggles and not really ears. Tbh I miss the days when Batman movies didn't have to be completely practical and you could still have people dressed up in crazy outfits with no logical explanations.

Saying the Tumbler has no identity because it's militaristic is not a reasonable criticism. It's actually a strength as it makes The Tumbler unique compared to previous iterations of the vehicle.
@randomguy9777 The reason for The Tumblers militaristic look is that it makes sense in the Story for Bruce to have such a strong vehicle. It being a failed military project that was kept in storage. I personally just find it a really cool looking vehicle that let's anyone know what the Dark Knight trilogy is, Batman in the real world fighting real crime. I also have huge respect for how powerful the Tumbler was behind the scenes, actually being able to withstand jumps and smash though solid walls and still drive afterwards.
Loved this version of the Batmobile when I was a kid!! The BatWing was pretty darn cool too! Remember Micro-Machines? I vaguely remember having the Bat set of vehicles.
This bat mobile had it all. high speed turn anchor cable. Turn table, machine guns, shields, voice enabled auto-drive, emergency torpedo mode, axle bombs, shin smashing pylons.
