- I built a custom replica of a 1966 Batmobile. When I go to car shows people ask if the buttons and switches all work. They do. I made this video to demonstrate most of the features of the car, including the simulated turbine start up sound. Finish body work and paint by Mr. Pat Crafton. Here is a link to another video of the Batmobile chasing the Joker:

Where do I start applauding all of your effort? This is beyond impressive. George Barris would be proud, and inspired.
I saw the original at the 1984 World Science Fiction Convention in Anaheim ... *This* is *CONSIDERABLY MORE IMPRESSIVE!!*
Imagine this fellow working his magic on the Black Beauty , it would be better than Rogans monstrosity
George would be jealous !
Adam West agree 👍
Barris' builds were pretty junky tbh.
I swear for a second it felt like Adam West was showing off the Batmobile. Outstanding build. You set the bar very high, Sir.
Thanks. Yes, that's me in the Bat suit. My wife says no one looks good in purple tights.🙄
@@BatcarguyYour wife is right, sir.
But boy oh boy, that's the Batmobile of my childhood.
All the others were weird and over the top IMO.
Outstanding!

Great car and a fan of Batman always !
Awesome build. I love it!
This is not a car, it's a masterpiece.
🐾atively!
I grew up watching Batman, and loving cars. At 58 years old, this made me feel like that 6 year old watching the show again. Phenomenal work. I work on cars, and cannot imagine the time, labor, sweat, and funds it took to get this car at this level. All I can is WOW! I am blown away. Also love the presentation.
For a moment, I was watching Batman show off his unbelievable car. James Bond would be impressed. Thank you. Well done sir!
Thank you very much! I'm glad the video took you back. It took about 9 years (8000 hours) to build, not counting paint. I mostly enjoyed building it. But, as you know, working on cars can be quite frustrating. Especially when you're trying to make reliable gadgets, some of which no one has ever done before.
Ditto (I'm lazy)
Yep!!...at 59, still my FAVE batmobile of ALL time!!
@@Batcarguy There's a late 40s Maple Leaf truck used in a James Bond & there's a rumor of a British Sunbeam Alpina car also . You can pull up "Jamaican classic car Junkyard" if you're interested in seeing the Maple Leaf Truck .

Retractable parachutes? And instrument panel covers? Seriously the single most impressive build I have ever seen! The little boy inside of me is rendered totally speechless. 😱👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Yes those drogue chutes are crazy engineering, definitely has to be reinforced to the frame
Heh, this is what the old TV Batmobile would look like if constantly updated over many years!👍😏😊
Of all the Batmobiles ever built, this one still has to be one of my all time favorites. Awesome job !!

It's so cool I want one for myself
This is easily the best design. Christian Bale's 'Otumwa'... whatever it was called was pretty nice as well.
@@felinefinetessaslegacy2878 Bale's is called the Tumbler
I would have to agree this one is incredible and the best one I’ve ever seen before. The fact that nearly all the gadgets actual work is incredible. I didn’t think the guns would shoot and I was very impressed that the shoots retracted back into the car. Remarkable ingenuity. I will say for the rockets I think you could somehow incorporate a legal firework or type of flare that can shoot out. That would take that feature and the car to even a higher level. Again this is a work of art and I can’t imagine all the time and money spent to create such a vehicle. Bravo.
That’s a rolling piece of art. A masterpiece.
I am totally impressed you did one hell of a job with that car buddy something to be very proud of
Thanks. It's a lot of fun.
@@Batcarguy I hope you do shows etc. to pay for the project and allow other people to enjoy it. It's not the Batmobile I grew up with, but it's better than those abominations of late (last 30 years).

Many say the 1960's Batman was soft, this proves it was totally badass & awesome
I mean it was goofy af, but thats what I loved about it!

The 66 batmobile is STILL my all time fave!!!...GREAT build sir!!, and thank you for sharing it with us!!
Now that is not just a car !
It's definitely a work of art !
This is extreme talent !
BEYOND (ART!) ...
That's even better than the original, the attention to detail is beyond impressive 👏
It does look great but remember that this kind of technology was not available in the '60s. Plus, George Barris had only three weeks to come up with car, that's why he decided to use the Lincoln Futura concept car. 👍

Yes a true contribution to society.
That is insane! Assuming you donate this to a museum eventually, it will be showcased for centuries to come as a historical masterpiece. Well done!
This is without a doubt the best Batmobile ever created. It’s like a newer model of the original. Absolutely fantastic!
I'm at a loss for words! I'm 53, and never in my life would I have thought to see a truly functional Bat Mobile! I have seen the original on at the museum in Daytona. Much Respect to you sir 👍👍👍👍👍
I seen the original in Sarasota. That was 10 years ago. But this batmoblie is way better.

the REAL Batmobile!!! i'm an 80's kid, this is so perfect and amazing i have no words!!!
THIS is by FAR the absolute BEST Batmobile i have EVER seen!! It's so incredibly beautiful, the gauges are extraordinary, and the fact that so MANY features ACTUALLY work, like... REALLY WORK!! are you kidding??? Jet turbine, flamethrower, machine gun doors, the back parachutes (and they retract back in!!!) the front cutting wheel, you REALLY made my day friend!! Beautiful, PERFECT job!!!!
Glad you liked it. There will ever only be one original 1966 Batmobile, and that one is out of my price range. So since I had to build my own, I thought I might as well build in more gadgets😏
This is, by far, THE greatest Batmobile ever built!
The attention to details that even the original designers overlooked is breathtaking!
Well done!!!
Oh Billy get over it. Your childhood is over.
The attention to detail is off the charts. The way the gun turrets don’t just leave a hole in the door panel when active but close it up again is just gorgeous.
I agree, the door skin closes when the guns are engaged and is almost seemless looking on the door with the guns engaged. Ammo magazines and all are on the outside, of course it is done that way as not to compromise the bullet proof door!
Wow. They could do a serious batman with 1960's style if they had this.
One thing about that how do we know this version of the Batmobile had guns in it because it didn't the only Batmobile that had guns was the first one from the first Batman movie with Michael Keaton and because I saw the 1960's Batman t.v. series with Adam West and I distinctly remember those Bat symbols on the sides of the doors did not open to reveal machine guns.
I was impressed with that until the the guns started kicking out shells. Then I was really impressed.
It brought back a lot of memories awesome job on all the details... that had to take a long time to build very well done my hat is off to you my good Sir😅
This is the video every boy for over 5 decades has been waiting for. Bravo sir. 👏
The thought and engineering that's gone into this car and its effects are incredibly amazing
Just when you thought after almost 60 years that the original batmobile couldn't be any more bad ass..... This dude brought bad ass to a level I never thought possible!!!! 🦇🦇🦇🦇
Still my favorite Batmobile and I am so happy that this legend lives on. It is truly a work of art. The retractable chutes are insane.

I teared up and had hardcore goosebumps watching this. Absolutely incredible! I remember coming home afterschool everyday, running from the bus so I wouldn't miss Batman reruns (in the 80s). I've always been enamored by this version of the Batmobile, and your representation of it is beyond outstanding. I bet you see nothing but grins everywhere you drive that thing!
Thank you. I used to drop everything and run to the TV, too! Back then, Batman was on only at night and there was no way to record it.
and another thing... it's amazing how a TV show from our childhood carries us into older age and rejuvenates us every time. thanks again.
I thought it was a replica but you built a full function Bat mobile. This is the most awesome car ive ever seen. You are one hell of a craftsman. Wonderful job.

Not only the details but the flawless way everything works is truly amazing! Your car is what Hollywood pretends to be, but you made it reality. Absolute perfection and a true work of art! 😎🇺🇸
That is beautiful. I never realized how badass the 60's Batmobile was.
No more getting stuck behind someone slow, or what a beautiful way to keep tailgaters away! Lol
This is the Batmobile of my chidhood. Never been another to compare.
To the builder, hats off to you! Your attention to detail is unreal. Beautiful car.
I have seen many versions even the ones used in the show BUT this is way next level plus 3!!! You got me at the front blade and the turbine. NOBODY has done that and the retracting chutes. Really outstanding!!!!!
Thank you. I was the most nervous the first time I retracted the chutes. Everything else I was able to test at various stages to make sure it would work before going on the car. But the chutes were more or less all or nothing. Airflow can be pretty hard to predict behind a car, and I didn't want to screw-up the chutes, the mechanism or my paint. The scene in the videos is the first time I ever tired it with the car moving.
THIS is how the car should've been on the show, but George was under a LOT of pressure to just "make a Batmobile". I'm sure given the time he and his crew would've done a LOT more. But hey, he did a great job with what he had and made it one of the most iconic cars in the world!!

As a boy I recall having played with a friend's Batmobile and I will always remember the tongue of flame going in and out as the rear wheels turned. My prized possession was my Corgi Batmobile. Wish I still had it. Seeing your amazing Batmobile took me right back to those special days. Thank you!
Glad it took you back to your childhood. I go there myself behind the wheel.😊
Ditto! This is the coolest thing ever!!!
My mom figured the Batmobile was too violent so I had the Monkey Mobile. Cool factor -1.
@@LtJackboot lol - I did like the Monkees too. My Mom bought me 2 Monkee shirts and a dickie for school in about 3rd or 4th grade. If you remember them, they were the double buttoned shirts they wore. It was in the summer before school started and they were meant to be FOR SCHOOL. The Sunday before school started I begged and pleaded to wear a Monkee shirt out to see my friends. Mom finally caved but said don’t do anything to ruin it. I promised not to and out I went feeling like the shit. Walked to the end of the block and there were my buddies and one of the dad’s with a go cart. Awesome! When it was my turn to drive it, I rolled it off a curb and pretty much tore the Monkee shirt off my back and ripped a finger open along with other road rash. No helmet of course as we grew up in the great days of no safety protocol. I walked back home and when Mom saw the shirt ripped open … the only thing that saved my ass was the blood pouring out of my finger and we had to go to the hospital to get my finger stitched up haha. Well, I still had one fancy shirt for school.
I still have my Corgi Batmovil (the tires are destroyed); one of the saddest days of my childhood when I lost the little Robin on a beach (by the way, Ajijic, Mexico). Now I also have in my desk this Batmovile on a large scale, of course with Batman and Robin.
One of if not the coolest thing I ever saw!

The inside of the original Batmobile was drab and unfinished. The steering wheel was even missing the center cover but the TV show never gave you that perspective. This car, on the other hand, is incredible! I even made my wife watch this on our TV that's how incredible it is. What a wonderful job you did putting this together. Very cool.
Adam West only wishes he had had something this amazing to drive on the show. This is a total work of art.
Has Burt Ward "Robin" seen this treasure?
If they ever choose to revive the series in the tradition of the original, they've got a ready-made Batmobile!
I met Adam West and Burt Ward in 1966, Warren Michigan. They were in Detroit with the Batmobile for the Autorama, dressed in costume. I was 5 years old then and they were bigger than life to me. Something I will remember as long as I live.
Wow ! 😅
When it was revealed that the “bat guns” worked, my jaw dropped. This is so, so rad.
As a kid in the sixties I've seen the original car from the series up close in person as well as many love homage builds at conventions through the decades. This car is beyond words to describe it's awesome coolness.
What’s really impressive is that while obviously being next level amazing, it still manages to pay homage to the original maintaining that retro feel! Absolutely stunning!
If a rewind movie is ever in the plans this car should be the Star attraction!!
Lived up in the Hollywood Hills and we used to ride our bikes down to Barris Kustoms to see what was in the showroom. Seeing the Batmobile and Munster’s cars when you’re a kid was awesome.
