That dispatcher should be held accountable for the deaths caused since she didn't want to take the call seriously and was rude.
Held accountable for the deaths is extreme.
I think she should be held accountable for negligence to report a crime
She should absolutely be held accountable for something because she was extremely unprofessional and her complete lack of concern absolutely led to this monster being able to continue his killing spree…
Her attitude. Her asking him what he wanted to do. He didn’t know which is why he called. That’s what 911 is for.
Well, I don't know what kinda behavioral rules 911 operators have there, but maybe if they can prove with the recording she didn't act according to them, maybe hold her accountable them?
That 911 dispatcher was incredibly rude.. if you can’t be patient while handling the calls then you definitely shouldn’t be working there.
I agree 100%. I wish they would share her name so we can support her social media😊. I hope she got fired.
@@sharitacocoa😂
Hope she got fired.
WOW! The attitude from that dispatcher is appalling!!! She needs to be fired !!!!
Agreed!
She was a snooty little biznatch.
That 911 operator was rude as hell!!
Tiana is absolutely a courageous hero. She could have died and still only worried about the girls. God bless her i hope the best gor her.
The 911 operator should feel ashamed of herself, so dismissive and rude.
When In Living Color was a tv show, my dad brother n I used to joke about how one day 911 would be automated.. press 1 if you are being burglarized, press 2 if you are being murdered, etc..
Your call is very important to us please hold while we connect you to a live operator.. sheesh if 911 operators are going to be rude like this one was it may be just as bad as automated 911 😢
Automated would definitely be better than this one for sure!!
I'm from Colorado as well and actually have had a Lyft driver come with their dog. We were getting picked up to head to the Filmore for a concert. The driver did that as their main income and felt bad leaving their dog all day. They always called the people they were picking up ahead of time though to tell them the dog was there and would cancel the ride on their end if it was an issue so the customers wouldn't get penalized. They said most people didn't mind and the only times they've had to cancel the ride was if someone was allergic. In all honesty it made the ride even more fun in my opinion.
That's really sweet, I wish there was an option for drivers on the app to say "this driver brings their dog," so riders could on their own decide if they want to ride with a dog or not. I'm sure for a lot of people it's a fun way to have a little break from their day. Like how drivers do background checks, maybe the ride companies could have something where the dog gets an obedience class certificate so there's some kind of liability coverage or something. It's probably too much of a hassle for these companies to do that but hey, if someone in management reads this comment someday I say take the idea and run with it!
The amount of times I have seen cases where the 911 dispatcher seems to be completely untrained is crazy, 911 can be the difference between life or death and their actions can have severe consequences. If this dispatcher actually took the proper steps, this man could probably have been stopped way before it got to the point it did. I hope the dispatcher was held accountable.
I drove for Uber for years and am a passenger often. The 24 hour customer service is an email or text in the app. The safety button does not always work. Often, the app is down. Do not rely on the safety button. Always screenshot the driver/car info page when the driver is assigned. You can send the info to a loved one or text it to 911 in some areas. If there is a problem you are better off to call 911 directly. Stay on the line and the operator will direct police to you.
That dispatcher annoyed me so much. The attitude she had is why some people just don't get involved. If she had taken it seriously, people would have been saved. ETA: I refused to use Uber at any time. If I don't know the driver, I won't get in the car. I was ridiculed once for saying that, but I would rather be safe than sorry. Look at the cases we have seen where someone got in a car and thought it was their Uber driver. It's dangerous.
That's why I only use a licensed cab with a professional driver not someone using their own car to earn a few extra bucks
This black dude picked me up in a Lyft one time , drove me 4 miles and I tipped $10. He drove super crazy then got mad when I wouldn’t give him more than $10 and tried intimidating me into giving him more . I’ll never use a ride share again
It’s not just that but the Passengers most likely have pushed them mentally over the edge.
Tiana’s interview is heart-wrenching. What an incredible example of a person. It’s awful she even had to endure something so horrific
“He wasn’t a violent person” and “he collected guns” will never make sense to me.
This comment doesn't make sense to me.
Is the implication that every person who collects guns violent? That's how it reads
@@TheWatcherxx99kinda, yeah. I've never met a normal, non-violent person who collected a bunch of guns. there's always *something* wrong with them
My husband is a very normal very non violent person and he collects guns.
Clearly you’ve triggered the Americans but as an English person, I completely agree
Collecting guns doesn't mean ur violent, it's means ur autistic

“A guy just shot some people in the parking lot”
Dispatcher: “okay.. 😁”
So glad you guys are back! Austin's voice calms me down.
Same
Same same
Definitely soothing and I usually watch at “lights out” fall asleep and have to replay it the next day!
Love love his voice, so very soothing
His voice is truly audio melatonin.
This could have all been avoided if dispatch reported it to uber and uber said no more fares until they have a word with him and go from there when the first man called and reported hus crazy driving incident
They need to fire that 911 operator ASAP
I can't remember if it was an Uber or Lyft driver that refused my destination. It was around 10 at night in the middle of winter, I had just gotten off work. I was trying to go home which was about 20 minutes away in the next town over. The guy said he didn't leave the area that I was in, made me get out and cancel. Had to wait 15 minutes for another ride. I felt like the company didn't take my complaint seriously.
Yea, that's some bs
Interacting with that 911 dispatcher sounds so unnerving like dystopian 😳
So many interactions are becoming like this 😞
That 911 dispatcher was so rude and unprofessional
Aw Josh, as an aussie, I'm so sorry that you guys have to think like this going into malls.
We are very lucky here I guess... there was a shooting /rampage back in the 90s and our government just went strict on gun laws. I feel safe knowing I can go out without this fear
Wow. America will never do that. They don’t care about their people here as much as they care about their own pride.
@tiaslays255 our government has tried the strict gun thing but with people bucking them about their right to amendment 2...the right to carry.
Im from this area and live only 10 mins from all of this! Such a terrible scary night! I remember it like it was yesterday😢. Thoughts and prayers to all of the families ❤❤
That must have been terrifying
Uber is HORRIBLE AND NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE to contact customer service representatives! I had a horrifying experience with a driver. However, once I was able to make contact, Uber very quickly reacted and as frightening as it was and definitely don’t want to go through it again, something good did come of it. All Uber drivers in my area now are required to have dash cams
I stopped using it entirely after their Uber cash system took 100 dollars from me multiple times and I was only able to dispute a few of them. And they have no customer service number or any way of contacting them directly. I even went to an Uber location and they told me they couldn’t do anything as they were just a hub and also unable to contact them directly. Wild
Always use a licensed and professional taxi service the kind that had operated for years before everyone started using Uber.
As a doordasher myself, I have to say REPORT ANYTHING THAT MAKES YOU FEEL UNSAFE.
Thank you for working as a Doordasher. Bless you to always be safe 😊❤🙏
Who tf is hiring these 911 operators?!?!?!? I hope she was fired
The 911 operator was such a jerk! She shouldn’t be employed there after that happened and hopefully feels like a jerk for speaking to anyone that way😡 Great to see u guys, I missed Lights Out, Happy 2024 everyone🎆🎉❤️😊🎆
She shouldn't work where there is people
I cannot believe how rude that 911 operator was. I hope she got fired!
I still use Facebook & all my older relatives are in there lol 😊
Rest in peace to these victims. What a tragedy. And thank goodness for the survivors. Man, Tina seems like such a wonderful and motivational person ❤
The first and only time I ever rode in an Uber, my Uber driver told me every single way he wanted to unalive his wife and how he would use his own car for it
Then ask you to meet him for a date 😂 Yeah definately... just let me out this f.....king cab
I giggled when he said he got attacked and shot at by rival taxi drivers 😂😂
It’s also crazy to me that his wife would let him return to ubering after he apparently was attacked? If it was my partner I’d be doing everything I can to stop them from leaving again and making sure we contacted the police!
As a ex-pat living in Australia it breaks my heart to hear how this type of violence has changed the way people have to live everyday… always worried about shootings, always looking for exits. Breaks my heart 💔 especially because I know there are so many good people out there and have to be extra vigilant because the few that go to these extremes.
I'm really hoping for a Lights Out trip to a haunted location in 2024! Even if literally nothing happens and we just get to watch y'all joke about it for an entire video 😂 Also I'm still down for getting a Lights Out Europe fan club together to investigate some haunted place in Europe! 😅💪
Imagine if they did a collab with Sam and Colby! I'd love lights outs experience with them! They'll tell it how it is and are a pretty neutral collab that it would provide a lot of insight and would also be sooo interesting to watch them react to their tactics!
Another European here🙋🏻♀️with passion for all kind of things (aliens, ghosts, etc) and a real life witch 🧙💜💜💜 according my ex 😂

UBER DRIVER?! You guys are going to keep me trapped at home for good if I keep listening to the podcast!
I be coming home from work going straight to the podcast lol 👍
Unchecked mental illness/disorders are everywhere!
Get a real cab then, properly licensed & trained and a professional driver not a part timer on a side gig
@@michaelwatson1505 🤣
@@TheWatcherxx99 have you been on one lately? How and why do you think Uber got so popular?! 🤣
Once I was in a small grocery store with my husband and children… I had my daughter on one isle, and my husband had my son on another isle (divide and conquer), neither of us could see the front entrance, and we heard a man’s voice say “Everyone put your hands up!” I froze. A second later the man said “And wave ‘em like you just don’t care!” And everyone at the front kinda laughed, but like a weird why-the-heck-would-you-do-that-laugh…. I found my husband and told him we needed to leave. He hadn’t heard what had happened and thought I was overreacting. But I was seriously tingly and shaking and my adrenaline was through the roof! What kinda joke is that??? In this day and age?? What about ppl with real ptsd from something like that?? I think about exits all the time when I’m out somewhere. But I was nowhere close to either exit… and all I could think was about how I was going to run to the back with my daughter… but my son was in the store too… ugh. All that in like 1 second… it was awful.
I dont blame you for that reaction. That was messed up that someone thought that would be a good idea or funny!
I had a Lyft driver that had a dog in the front seat. He was a small old dog and just slept. It was endearing ❤
I live in Kalamazoo and i remember this happening. it is very close to where i live and at the time i was taking ubers to work and i was SHOCKED to hear about this!
911 call just gave me flashbacks to when a dispatcher didn’t want to help me after i was being chased by a driver with road rage💀
I've had so many incredibly horrendous 000 (911 in Australia) operators, and they should ALL be held accountable.
People are obviously very stressed, and not in good emotional or possible physical states, so the last thing they need is people like that!!! ❤❤❤💐💐💐🙏🙏🙏
I lived about 30 minutes from Kalamazoo at the time that happened. About a year or so later, at an Amy Schumer show in kzoo, she mentioned something about Uber and everyone booed.
That first dispatcher needs sacking
When Josh was talking about going to the mall etc..I do exactly the same thing! It’s sad we have to think of that when we’re not home…I look everywhere & assess my surroundings just in case…
Tiana is such an inspiration! I’m so glad she is alive and those kids are safe
I had used Airbnb to rent my spare bedroom for 2 years before I had the worst experience. I ended up being stalked and threatened through the app. Support continued to delete the accounts as they were created as the aggressor had created multiple accounts under fake names and continued to try to book with me. I was so scared and the police refused to help saying there was nothing that could be done. There aren’t checks and balances in place on so many of these platforms. Stay safe out there!
Wow that could have turned out horrible. I hope you’re still staying vigilant.
There is things they can do like arrest the person doing it.
Listening on Spotify will play it here too just to keep the support going
Just want to say I really appreciate the work put into editing! Not even a minute in and I am so riveted by the intro I had to pause, comment, and now go get snacks...I love this channel❤
I just wanna say I love you guys! Found you last year around this time and have listened to everything you guys put out. You guys rock! Also that first dispatch lady was the absolute worst acting like it’s a inconvenience to her that he almost died cause this crazy man
Tiana is so so brave and I hope they she has pain free days and I hope she knows how vital she is to society! Such a brave woman.
DONT BE SORRY YOU ALL NEED A BREAK
Once I had an Uber Driver who picked me up with his kids in the backseat where I was suppose to sit. One of his kids who seemed to be a teenager was visibly annoyed I was getting in the car and his 7 year old fell asleep and was drooling on me and I didn’t say anything because I felt so weird. He suddenly hit the break 2 and a half blocks from the location I wanted to go to and sped off with his kids.
I’m a 911 dispatcher and damn, that lady was not nice. I would be GUTTED if I acted like that during a driving complaint and it turned into this.
This last year you guys have really been a huge part of my life: binging your podcast while I was in a huge depressive episode and listening to a year of episodes in one go ❤️ thank you guys. Love from the UK
I’m so glad you’re covering this!! I used to live in Kalamazoo but moved a few months before this happened!
The dispatcher needs replaced and was rude and complacent. If thats considered a first responder forget it
I used to travel to San Francisco frequently and used Lyft to get from the airport to my rental apartment. I had several occasions where I felt very uncomfortable with the driver asking personal questions. Are you married? Do you have kids? Where are you from? How long are you going to be here?
I don’t know if some men understand that they shouldn’t ask people those kind of questions when they’re complete strangers stuck in the back of your car! Perhaps it’s intentional? I can’t say, but I make sure to text a copy of the Lyft drivers information to my friend before I get in the car. So they know who is driving me and when I should arrive at my destination.
Some may be trying to be friendly...it could go either way though
Hey guys 👋🏼 thanks for your coverage of these terrible cases. You guys rock 🎉👍
Arizonan here!
You should be thanking yourself you didn't come in AUGUST. You'd die from 115+ 90% humidity because we get monsoons.
I've been THRIVING in this weather I will prefer snow over heat lmao but hella awesome you had a nice time~
Wtf is a monsoon???
I think the first emergency call was handled so neglegently, she was so rude & seemed like she couldn't be bothered. If the call was taken seriously & handled professionally the outcome could have been so different (?)
If my spouse came home and said he needed to switch cars because he had been shot at (?) and that she would see him on the news later (?) I would have called emergency services myself, and his employer to find out what the hell was happening., she knew he was driving for UBER at the time they switched cars. SMH 😢
Agree! I would have been on the phone immediately to Uber first telling them he was armed and acting strangely and then 911 (but would have to hope I didn’t get that first dispatcher because she was hella rude and incompetent!!😡)!
Oh my god the poor family 😢 my heart broke - I don’t remember hearing that part of the story. How awful. They were were just living life and they were gunned down.
Love you guys, both today and yesterday for mile higher podcast the video wouldn't work on Spotify, not sure if anyone else had issues, but love you guys!!! Thanks for the content
I just listened to somebody else talk about this, but love the way you guys tell the narrative - listening to the dispatcher calls really brings you into what happened and the decisions made - just a meaningless tragedy could’ve been stopped so much sooner 😢
Before covid I rode lyft/ uber every day to work or anywhere I needed to go. One time I was doing a shared ride in Lyft I believe and they picked up another rider on the way they sat in front, I was already in back. The rider started vaping, the driver was like no smoking. The passenger was upset started screaming at driver saying it wasnt weed and just strawberry and it smelled good, was even blowing it at the driver. The driver pulled over yelling for him to get out or police would be called. There was no emergency button at time. Finally after driver went to actually dial police he got out. We drove away fast. I asked if there was anything I could do to report the passenger and help driver. The driver said all they knew to do was write an email in the driver app. They said to just write a review and maybe message Lyft if I could find a way. They then tried to call an Lyft help line but it just went to a machine for them to leave a message.
As much as I talk about how I don’t rely on technology, I missed you guys! I hope you had an awesome holiday, thanks for keeping me entertained ❤
I missed yall so happy yall are back!❤
My husband had an eerily similar frustrating 911 call literally tonight. Glad to hear they’re learning from these mistakes … 😒😒😒
It’s crazy to me that you think about where are the exits in a shopping centre… I live in Australia and it’s not a thing at all. I feel bad for yall that that is your reality!
So true 😢
American here and I'm not worried about that at all. No one person can speak for all of us. It's good to think about emergency exits but I'm not driving myself crazy about worrying. Worrying ain't gonna help you in any situation.
Love this podcast ! Your voices are actually so soothing and calming . It actually helps the disgusting pain from these stories.
I genuinely was like uhhh where are the podcasts 😭😭so happy I can watch again 😊😊much needed after a work day it calms my anxiety so much
Me too I listen to this show to fall asleep bc it relaxed me so much ❤ then i go back the next day n listen to it n stay awake so i can hear what i missed❤
I am between Lansing and Howell in Michigan. I remember this. So incredibly sad❤
Hell yes! I’ve missed you guys! Hope yall had a good rest! 🖤
I’m like you Josh, I overthink when I’m out in public and plan escapes.
I was in an ikea once and the fire alarm came on. Everybody ran, not because we thought it was a fire but because we thought of a person like this. Everybody ran but I I didn’t hear shots and the sprinklers weren’t on so I walked fast with my daughter behind my back. Why run into danger you know? My mil tried to walk hand in hand (like I was holding her hand and she was too with my daughter in the middle and I had to snap at her to keep her behind me just in case. I sobbed when we’re were driving away because the adrenaline and everything was so overwhelming. Idk what happened but this is just the world we live in now.
Dang he looks like big Ed
I was gonna say that 😂
Thank you. Watching from Alaska.
A felony stop isn’t what you described. Each state and department also has a different policy, but the officers in this case scenario performed their stop fine. We also don’t know what happened before the dash cam that got released.
That 911 dispatcher is so rude omg
I really like the painting in the background. Any chance you can provide a close up?
I am in shock and awe over Tiana's story... She's incredible! What happened to her is pure terrorism. We know all about that over here. She's a hero 🧡
Luv watching this channel ❤️
This is so scary!!! I remember when it first came out and we had an Uber driver who was straight up drinking vodka out of a water bottle and even offered us some like WTF!! I think that's why I don't trust a ride service even now. This story doesn't help😬 And wow those 911 dispatchers were horrible 🤬😫
You’re back! Yaaaaay
I was so relieved that she survived. She protected those kids from that monster. She is angel she should be protected forever ❤
Missed you guys!!
Welcome back I've missed my brothers from another mother ❤
Wow. Well told thank you
Ready to listen to you guys.
Josh, do I have the Uber story for you. I was going to college at U of M in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It’s either winter of 21’ or 22’. I’m sure that Austin is familiar with Ann Arbor. A lot of Uber drivers will come from out of town on the weekends to drive because of how busy it gets. I’m going to meet my friends out at a venue and decide to take an Uber as one does. The driver seems pretty nice. He’s very talkative and tells me that he’s from out of town and starts asking a lot of personal questions. Where I’m from, how long I’ve gone to school here, if there are any good pizza places around, etc. It felt to me like he was trying to see how familiar I was with the area. I had taken an Uber to the place I was going a few times before, so I knew the route pretty well, but was also following along on the Uber app just to make sure. All of a sudden the driver starts going in the complete opposite direction of where I’m supposed to go. The app keeps updating and rerouting on my phone and I can see it rerouting on his phone too. I was about to ask him if we were going the right direction when my friend who I was meeting called me wondering where I was. It was honesty perfect timing, and I put her on speaker so the Uber driver could hear her asking me how long it would take to get there. I explained that I was in an Uber on my way and said to wait outside. In an instant, the Uber driver’s demeanor changed, and he turned to start going the right direction. I wasn’t even sure if he was planning anything shady or if he really was taking a different route, but the whole thing seemed off to me. It was definitely a “trust your gut” moment, and thankfully I have very vigilant friends who called at just the right time. A few months after this incident, a girl was kidnapped in an Uber on her way home from a party. I’m assuming the driver thought they could take advantage of her drunken state, but she also had very vigilant friends, so her absence was immediately noticed. I don’t know all the details, but she thankfully was able to make it home safe. I always wondered if it was the same driver that picked me up, just waiting for the time someone vulnerable needed a ride.
Back in 2017 I reported my Uber driver. He was texting and driving and not looking at the road while going 70 mph down the highway. There was a button on the app then I filled out a report. After I submitted, about 5 min later Uber called me and asked for more details. They suspended his account at least temporarily and asked me if I wanted to call the police. I appreciated their response.
911 dispatcher’s seem to lack an incredible amount of training. I wonder what can be done to remedy this.
On a positive note, I was so happy to see Lights Out return💚
I love your videos from michigan. We still don't have reliable Uber in Jackson, I think it's because we're so close to kzoo. I'm hoping you will cover the Oxford shooting, especially after they charge the parents of the shooter.
I have literally had this type of response from dispatch before when reporting unsafe drivers on the road. And like it takes ALOT for me to make that call to decide to call it in and they just act like it’s a nuisance
I remember this happening vividly, I live in Grand Rapids, it’s about 45 min/an hour north from kzoo. Everyone was shocked and heartbroken when the news came out about this, as well as terrified. Most cities in Michigan are very low key and safe, but after this it made everyone feel very uneasy and on high alert. And hearing of the pointless deaths of these wonderful people he targeted was heart wrenching 💔 may they rest in peace
GR here also.. that night we were driving my partners mom's car and it was essentially the same as the second vehicle he drove that night🫣 like we knew he was still down there but we didn't want other people to freak out 🤷🏼♀️
God Bless you guy's, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me something amazing to watch whilst I am in hospital awaiting 2 full day's consecutively of major massive spinal surgery ❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
I'm away from my beautiful family, 3 hour's away to be exact, and I'm incredibly lonely and in terrible pain.
This has made me feel like I can keep going ✨✨✨
I am so very very grateful for the dedication and PHENOMENAL content you never fail to put out there, in all of your pursuits, and it means so much to me 🙏🙏🙏💐💐💐
911 operators definitely need much more training ! I'm always hearing these callers who are scared in life or death situations and 911 is rude and sometimes not helpful !
I really don’t go anywhere anymore. I am fearful of so much. My kids are mostly adults and they don’t go out either. My husband goes to work and that’s about it. No one misses us. No one visits.
Hugs I've become the same way 😢
Michigan has 180 sunny days in the year on average, ya we have 3 months of winter, but we also have 4 seasons here, and its not as dark and depressing as you guys make it out to be especially if you enjoy having the seasons, i love it here 3 out of 4 seasons so you are correct about Seasonal depression to an extent but some people love the winter think ice fishing, snowmobiling, hunting. Gl!
Love this show. 🎉😊
Shout out from Bay County Mi.
I always like the video before even watching that’s how much of a fan I am
My uncle is a retired cop in Kalamazoo. This case is crazy
Also a Michigander!! Saginaw area. Nice to see one of us moving on up.
Looks like we need local radio station numbers next to emergencies, I honestly wonder why the attituded 911 operator can't call her employees but also local radio stations, I mean seem only fair?
this was a crazy story and i hope the victims and their loved ones find peace. Since this is a heavier case especially since I believe everyone here has been in an Uber or Lyft at least once and its terrifying to think this happened to lighten the mood here is an AZ fact, you mentioned your trip to Arizona and as an Arizona native it does get cold here! If you head north to flagstaff you will find snow and the ability to ski and snowboard!
