The Komrad is a BLAST to shoot! Who is looking forward to picking one of these up?
Their customer service is great also.
@@dazzil89 it is! They are very easy to get a hold of and super helpful.
@@impactguns to my surprise one of the developers of the Komrad answered some questions I've had.
@@dazzil89 Awesome! We got a hold of them as well to talk about running different types of loads and they were really helpful.
@@dazzil89 Thank you, we strive to provide quality customer service.
We love the review! Thanks Impact Guns!
Thanks! We are going to record another follow up video now that we have the Salvo12 can on it and some other goodies.
@@impactguns sweet!!!
@@KalashnikovUSATV We just posted it if you want to check it out. It should be linked here in the description.
When will you be back back in stock for the Komrads? I want it!
I know what I’m getting myself next year!!! 😍😍
Great review
Thank you!
I wish Kalashnikov USA would make a Vepr. My first ever gun was an IZ-433 and I dread the day something wears out. It'd be nice to have spare parts back on the market.
SDS imports makes a vepr clone now.
Just bought one this weekend. Was going the buy the kel Tec. Didn’t know it existed. It’s a beast
Awesome! They pack a pretty serious punch. If you go check out our Instagram page @impact_guns, we just posted a picture of our Komrad outfitted with a Silencerco Salvo 12 suppressor, a drum mag, red dot and more.
Wayyyyy better than a Keltec!
@@dr.burtgummerfan439 definitely. If you had to use this as a club, you won't have to worry about it shattering.
Looks really cool.
It is an awesome little firearm!
I'm debating getting the komrad, or the kusa 12 T. Some people are advising me to go the cheap route and get the lynx. I love ak platform shotguns. I will check out your website and thanks for the review.
Thanks for watching! Either one would be a great gun. The Kalashnikov USA guns have been excellent so far and they have great customer service. Plus if you buy it from Impact Guns you get a free lifetime warranty.
@@impactguns do yall carry the jmac muzzle break and are the pro 20 drums reliable?
@@johnnyweeks1971 we don't carry the muzzle brake unfortunately, but you can find them on their website at jmac-customs.com. We haven't tested this gun with drum mags yet, but we will when we get some more in.
Does the magpul zhukov handguarf fits komrad12?
Word to the wise. You can see the sparks coming off the backstop when shooting the steel shot. On an indoor range like that, there is a significant risk of fire when you do that.
So excited to have this.. however I wanted to know the actual range distance you are shooting at? Also what do you believe the Komrads effective range? Meaning I wanted a tactical shotgun and the Komrad does that however I am concerned that with the barrel size that I may have to get another shotgun for distance..
Our range is 25 yards. I don't know what the exact effective range is, but it does fine at 25 yards and I don't know that a shotgun would be my choice for engagements much further than that. A tactical shotgun is by no means a long range weapon.
Dang, that is some recoil!
Yeah, the 12" barrel with no muzzle brake has a little kick to it for sure. Especially since the gun prefers heavier loads.
Any comparison between this to the Fostech Origin 12? (Reliability, recoil, other)
Brother, I've been in a range that size with that ear-pro and someone shooting a 12 guage. I'd have to add some foamies to the ear-pro to do what you're doing.
We had foam ear plugs under the muffs haha. That gun is ridiculously loud indoors.
So my dad put the upgraded gas system with multiple settings (I think 6 or 7) and it didn't seem to like anything I threw at it.
Sorry I'm late to the show... Picking one of these up! What Military buckshot are you shooting, where can I find it? TYIA
Look up part number Q1544 on our website and you'll find it. Winchester Military Grade 00 buckshot.
Are you familiar with the Tac47 plug?
If so, do you know how far they are typically cranked down in order to run well??
Da flash omg🥰👑
I wanted to ask what ammo you suggest for home defense and for the range
I thought you needed to keep the factory forward grip on due to it being a firearm and not a shotgun
It can also be long rage weapon too like 80 to 100 yards 💯
The kalashnikov usa 12 gauge shotgun it likes the high brass ammunition not the low brass high never jam's
HEY that gun case looks just like the one I built in high school wood shop
Lol definitely underselling the VEPR 12
The VEPR 12 is an excellent gun. We were just trying to show that the Komrad is very similar in a lot of ways and far less expensive.
He definitely was underselling the VEPR-12. My non SBS VEPR 12 runs low brass and high brass no problem.
Impact Guns these cost mote than the VEPR 12
@@drummajor9522 including the tax stamp?
عت
I'm getting one of these because murder hornets
Where can I get the 10 round mags for this?
So what would be the best ammo for this gun, I just got mine the other day and it had trouble cycling.
If you watch at 8:56 we covered the types of ammo we used and the recommendations from Kalashnikov USA.
Yah dude you have to run heavy loads to loosen things up. Dont worry itll get better
Im new to guys. What type of stocks is the komrad compaltible with? Thinking about getting a rubber padded one if its legal I dont really know how it works.
You can't put a stock on this gun, you can only use a "pistol brace".
Perfect for home defense.
It is a great home defense set up!
Definitely will be using it for home defense & the Range
Wonder what the judge will think seeing that you used this to take out a intruder.
@@foxhound9285 Wouldn't want to imagine in California. But if your house was intruded and I had this weapon closest to me I'd use it and defend my home.
@@foxhound9285 probably nothing unless you live in California
How much long it can shoot a man size Target with 00buck shot?
Serious question: if you swap the “brace” to a stock is it now an SBS?
I believe it would be.
FYI, even though they appear to be QD spots on those rails…. They are not. Standard QD won’t hold in the holes.
How did he adjust the gas system ? Not automatic?
What is the name of the "military buck shots" used in the video
It's called Winchester Military Grade 00 Buckshot. 2-3/4", 9 pellet.
What's the legality of swapping out that forward vertical grip for that new one yall threw on? I have a Komrad also but kind of like your grip
The one we put on is just an angled fore grip. It's perfectly legal on that gun.
@@impactguns fantastic! I was just curious. I really like the setup yall have on that KS12 and was gonna most likely mirror most of it. Already have the Midwest Indistries slide rail on order and im doing research on what reflex sight i want but most likely just gonna go with that Viper yall have on yours. Thanks for the reply. Cheers! 🙌
You know any good "take to war" drum for the vepr 12
I believe SGM makes a decent drum magazine for the Vepr.
Just get some 10 round steel CSSPECS mags.
Oops never mind
Does the bolt have to be back to chamber a fullmag? Mine is stiff
Nevermind. It's just stiff as hell
With those types of shotguns it’s recommended to shoot ammo above 1,400 FPS. Anything below is going to result in gun jams.
1300fps up works..also any buckshot or slugs.
Anyone know where I can find an rrd-4c 12.
So by this 12 gauge having a pistol brace & a 12.5" barrel can you fire this weapon from the shoulder?
Yes.
Thanks for the feedback & the awesome video about this firearm
@@oldskoolj23 Thanks for watching!
That's the unfortunate thing about a short semiautomatic shotgun. Dwell time. Everyone wants that short barrel but affording that heavier ammo bites.
Very true. Although there are still some affordable ammo options that have high enough velocity.
Isn't there alternate recoil springs out there that work reliably with light loads that you can use in this Saiga?
I believe there is. I'm not sure if they would work in this gun or not but it would be worth looking into.
@@foxhound9285 DPM makes some recoil spring options for the Saiga 12 and KS12 Komrad! Website verifies fitment for the KA12. It's on my shopping list
My question is, since it's not considered an NFA item with the forward vertical grip, why did they choose to put a pistol brace on it instead of a stock?
It still can't have a stock on it or it would be considered a short barreled shotgun. The way it's configured now classifies it as a firearm, so it's not considered a pistol or a rifle, which is why they can get away with the vertical foregrip. I believe the foregrip rule only applies to pistols.
The “Other Firearm” classification of guns requires a forward grip by law. Here in NY., Other Firearms “ are the only ones legal in NYS..up until this September when the new communist laws go into effect unfortunately.
Do you have a link for that compensator?
www.jmac-customs.com/rrd-4c-12/
I was wondering what’s the best kind of bird shop to use in this I have tried just normal two and three-quarter inch and it doesn’t seem to want to eject someone said heavier load a new the shotguns but very familiar with other firearms someone said she use heavier load when they see a heavier load what do they mean by that I tried one out slugs and it would not reject them and someone gave me some I believe 1 1/4 ounce slugs and it worked great is there some 1 1/4 ounce bird shot out there? Or what’s the best to use and will work in this besides slugs?
I don't think birdshot will work period. If you watch in the video we cover what kinds of ammo are recommended. Usually buckshot or slugs.
Impact Guns thank you.
I was under the impression that the NFA does not allow vertical pistol grips to be installed on pistols?
This gun is technically classified as a firearm, not a pistol so it falls under a different set of regulations.
@@impactguns Ah thanks I didn't know "Firearms" could have vertical pistol grips. Thanks
Yeah, there are a lot of weird laws with that stuff, but I believe these are classified different because they don't have a rifled bore.
So why didn’t you set the gas for low brass and see how it worked ?
We did set the gun to the low gas setting. The lower velocity shells are still below the manufacturers minimum recommended velocity of 1330 fps so they wouldn't cycle 100% reliably.
Is the barrel rifled or smooth bore? You said you were running the rifled slugs so I'd want to assume it is rifled but just want to be sure.
It is a smooth bore. Rifled slugs are designed to be used in smooth bore guns as the rifling on the slug is what puts the spin on it since the barrel is smooth. In a rifled barrel you'd want to use sabot slugs.
@@impactguns Thank you for explaining this to me :) I'm just now getting into shotguns and don't know much about the shells types so this really helps.
@@cheemsburmgerm7631 No problem!
Sadly those are not actually quick connect mounts.
Is it a smooth bore, or rifled barrel?
Smooth bore
Shouldn’t the gas system be turned to high for the low powered stuff and low for the high powered? Like it needs more gas for the less powered and vice versa
No, it works opposite of that. The High setting lets less gas through for higher powered rounds, while the low setting lets more gas through to help cycle lower powered rounds. The high and low settings are named after the kind of round, and are opposite from the amount of gas coming through.
The video from kalashnikov on CZcams says the opposite. Just want to be on the same page. I'm calling kalashnikov tomorrow to be sure. Customer service is awesome!
What drum would be good for the Komrad
Cesar Chavez MD Arms 20rd drum will work.
We used a Promag Saiga drum, it just had to be shaved down slightly to fit.
Nice! I'd replace that big black rubber baby buggy bumper brace with a folding Tailhook setup.
Don't tell that to the Fudds or any of the alphabet agencies.
@@RPGGunman Yeah, I didn't know you couldn't put a folder on there.
@@dr.burtgummerfan439 Do what you feel is best for your self defense tools. Remember, none of the people or agencies who bitch will be coming to help you if you ever have to use it. Just ask the families of the victims in Parkland and Uvalde.
Where can I pick up one of these? Also, these weapons weren’t really design for light loads i.e. birdshot.
We have them available on our website. Yeah, we know they aren't designed for lighter loads, we just figured we'd test a range of ammo and see what works and what doesn't.
Impact Guns I saw the 18” barrel version but not this one.
@@Morphz_Unlimited look up item number 811777020425.
The "L" setting is for low brass ,not low power.....no wonder it's cycling those power loads so good
Not according to Kalashnikov. When we spoke to their techs they said it doesn't have anything to do with low brass or high brass, it has to with the velocity and size of the shot.
@@impactguns wat does the manual say?
@@1942manfred Straight from the user manual found on their website: "Gas Regulation System for heavy and light loads... Your gas regulation system allows your KomradTM to accommodate a wider variety of loads such as Lower Recoiling Target and Small Game loads, or Higher Recoiling loads such as Magnum loads or Slug and Buckshot depending on gas setting."
@@impactguns not contesting wat your stating yet my manual displays a picture of the plug and it's to settings and a description of the two settings L for low brass and H for high brass, maybe the book had changed buy I got mine 2 weeks ago
@@1942manfred I believe they did change the manual. The guy we talked to told us they were re wording some parts of it so maybe that is one of the changes they made. If you go to the website you can find the updated version.

This gun has no other use than to wipe out 5 or more home invaders at one time . Impractical and I love it.
I've new seen anyone allowed to use a shotgun in a indoor range interesting. .. mostly because the target anchor gets wasted
We don't usually allow shotguns in the range either unless they are shooting slugs, but we made an exception so we could film this review for you guys.
The indoor range I go to has a rifle range and a handgun/shotgun range. You can use a handgun in either range but the rifle can’t go into the shotgun and vise versa. I’ve yet to find an outdoor range here that doesn’t require membership
It's really cool but my benelli M4 gives zero fucks what I throw in it.
WOW!! Underselling theVEPR 12 AY? Anyone, who knows anything about SBS shotguns knows that you need to run high brass, high velocity shells out of magazine fed shotguns. You totally failed on the comparison of the VEPR 12 and made it look like garbage. Next time, use all loads as a comparison and see which one folks are interested in. Even though, the VEPR 12 is hard to find, they can still be found.
Why aren’t customers allowed to shoot shotguns on your range?
Customers can shoot shotguns with slugs in our range. We don't allow other loads because they destroy our range. The target hangers get damaged, the ceiling panels, tracks, etc.
Try to take my Toilet Paper now MFers
Can a lefty use it?
It's definitely not set up for lefties. You probably COULD shoot it, but I don't know how comfortable it would be. The shells seem to eject almost straight out to the side so you'd have to make sure to keep your face far enough back so you don't get hit.
@@impactguns Yes they can. Just like shooting any other semi .
Dont fool yourself, the Vepr is a better firearm.
stubby shotgun with adjustable rear sight...seems comical to me.
To each their own I guess!
Great anti-rioter gun. Look forward to buying one
Fake disconnects
well,buddy ready to make a massacre ?
A massacre of Communist invaders or future tyrannical government stormtroopers from a would be dictator, sure.
Never had luck with the VEPR. It was, honestly, total junk. I sold it in disgust.
You must have gotten a screwed up conversion or run birdshot. These things are awesome and can shoot anything 00 buck, slug, etc. all day.
That small hiccup might cost you your life, I will keep looking thanks
In all fairness, it is very hard to make one of those cycle in a short barrel. Note how the VEPR choked too.
If you're using it for life saving purposes it should be buckshot, slugs or sabot anyways. Not birdshot
I will give it a chance
