My daughter asked that I get a 48 quart Igloo cooler ready for her to paint. I had never heard of this before but it was very similar to prepping a car for paint.
Here is a link to the cooler. I am a Walmart and Amazon affiliate. I will make money from your purchase through these links. geni.us/6xXDH

Thanks for sharing! Yeah I remember in school Greek life would paint coolers like this for Spring Formals. I've just come into possession of an old Gott cooler that I just want to paint a different solid color. But I want to do it right so this is super helpful! Thanks again

Painting one black for a fog chiller for Halloween (the awesome DIY upgrade that makes fog stick low to the ground). The tips here are great and you never know who might need to paint one lol. And Bondo was great thinking! It will bond to materials better than spackle which is mainly used to fill small nail holes and isn't meant to be applied with a lot of depth. Things like Bondo and joint compound will do a better job of hardening at greater depths like that logo. Hope she enjoyed the project.

Awesome! I'm in this exact boat...daughter said "spackle" and I said "hmmm, that don't sound right". I was thinking of using the flexible filler for plastic bumpers. Do you happen to know how the cooler held up long term? I saw they are HDPE plastic which primers and paints don't like to adhere too very well and people "flame treat" them to get strong adhesion....run a torch over it without stopping anywhere then ipa wipe then prime. Wondering how your held up since you didn't flame treat it...I'd LOVE to just scuff and prime.
My daughter really wants to get all the texture off....sounds like that may be too much pita.
    Appreciate your video!
