    There is something I would like to add to your comment about being or not being poor.
    Definitions of poverty vary, but one commonly-used indicator is working for 60 percent of median pay. That corresponds to around 1,200 euros after tax in Finland. Some 60,000 people satisfy this definition of 'working poor'. That doesn’t, however, tell the whole story of in-work poverty.
    In Finland poverty is relative, so poverty doesn't necessarily mean people are destitute but it is difficult to make ends meet each month.
    More about median pay in Finland:
    According to Statistics Finlands Structure of Earnings statistics, the median for total earnings of full-time wage and salary earners was EUR 3,217 per month in 2020. Examined by level of education, wage and salary earners with doctorate level education had the highest total earnings, EUR 5,057. Besides earnings for regular working hours, total earnings also include all bonuses and benefits in kind, but not one-off pay items such as performance or holiday bonuses.

    I would bring up also that kind of over working, which makes you too tired or distracted from your studies making you fail or not become as good as you could otherwise be. As a student, you need to stay focused in learning and not just graduating or ending studies with weak results. It does make a difference in your career, how good your skills are. Just having studied doesn't help in the long run. Some work improves your skills, and if nothing else, helps to integrate, could even be fun addition to student life. So some working is almost always beneficial, I think, even though you wouldn't have any financial need for that.

      Sometimes there are schools open in Autumn eg from August or September. Then next applications can be in end of dec this year to beginning of January next year. Go to www.studyinfinland.fi identify a school with the masters programs you like and keep checking when they have next applications. 😀

    People, who are interested in academia - in science and more theoretical or deeper approach to knowledge, do see a relevant difference between scientific or academic universities compared to other more practical, and mundane, educational institutions.
    The difference is not in the pay levels, but in the qualities of the knowledge capital and understanding of the topics you achieve.

      You could try and use your national ID and then see if they will select you with that. If they do just make sure for the exam you have both at hand with the exact same name. Hope it works out for you☺️

    You mentioned Visa in connection to studying in Finland, so I have to think that you actually meant the first residence permit for studies, which is the permission which is needed if you plan to stay more than 90 days for your studies.
    I also looked at the statistics of decisions of such applications by Kenyans during the last 12 months. There where 133 cases of which 101 where positive decisions and 32 negative ones. That is a large percentage of negatives.

      In my opinion I think that was a good number. It's expensive coming to Finland from Kenya. So I think we are doing quite great considering many economic and financial aspects that have been going on of late😉

    • @just42tube
      @just42tube Před 2 lety

      @@carthiekoivari I can't see what the cost of moving has to do with the permit process and the number of negative decisions?
      Higher percentage of applications without positive results means disappointments, wasted effort and money, but also could be a sign of misunderstandings, fraudulent attempts... nothing positive.

      So we can assume that the main reason for negative decisions is the difficulty and failure to show and to ensure that the applicant have sufficient financial resources for living in Finland.
      To that I would add that perhaps some applicants have wrong idea about how well they need to proof that they do have the recources and cannot secure their income with work in Finland.
