Is it really advisable to stay as an au pair for longer periods in your life?
I get that the experience can be useful. But to stay longer seems like becoming stuck to a phase in life when one could do better by moving on with the experience you have got.
I can understand that an exchange student might want to stay in an other country to continue studies there, since that is a way forward, not getting stuck.

@@carthiekoivari Yes I understand, but continuing for several years was unexpected by me.
You made au pair to seem as a job or a path to other employments, which was strange for me. I have seen it as a way to experience other cultures, to have opportunity for personal growth and more independent life compared to living home with your parents.
I haven't thought it financially sustainable living or a job in that sense.
Exchange students are usually also young, at most at highschool age.
I remember seeing somewhere that there are exchange students from Kenia also in Finland. But I also got the impression that such exchange arrangements are rare with African countries, at least from Finland.

It is rare for exchange students to come from Kenya.

@@carthiekoivari As I undestant, there is much less student exhange type activity with African countries. One simple reason could be that these things to work well, have good reputation and become popular there needs to be enough previous experiences to create trust and interest in young students. With African counties there is no such history. There are not parents and groups encouraging and supporting young ones to visit Africa based on their own experiences.
I suspect it is something similar from the Kenyan side, not enough previous experience an d thefor not much interest to build connections to make exchange places available. How do you see it?
Or is there just in general less interest to student exchange?

I think there is little exposure. I know schools like Tampere university has done quite a good number of exchange programs with Kenya, at least back then they did. Not so sure about now☺️
