Seeing your expressions during this version of the song was priceless. I am curious how many times did you listen to it afterwards? I believe his version and voice makes this song unconditional perfection!
Maybe he's tongue tied? However you never give that recommendation... you should know this if it involves the mouth and tongue. It's all about singing appropriately which many cannot do with this fallacies
@@agdesignfabrication1009 I was going to say the same thing. You can tell she really enjoyed it!

Who knew he had such a beautiful voice right? One of my all time favorite songs .. and a rare occasion where the remake is better than the original on my humble opinion
She has the expressions of a Disney princess.
She is very visually expressive. A good trait to have when you're a performer.
It seemed like she was gonna cry like halfway through the song tho lol

Hang on tight... He’s still in first gear.
Dude can rip. He’s got some of the greatest pipes ever put on a man. His distortion he gets is so clean and consistent. You don’t learn that. He was literally born to sing. I say this as someone who is not a huge disturbed fan. Shinedown’s lead singer is the same way.
@@Tigerjunky93 stainds lead singer?
@@Tigerjunky93 that's what I think too, I am not a singer, I am ignorant but somehow I can recognize a really good voice and this version of Sound of silence & lots of Shinedown's songs are in my everyday playlist, I love their voice
I was like "Just wait" But i like your reply so much better LOL.
@@JW-28 David Draiman is the singer of Disturbed. Not Staind. That would be Aaron Lewis. Two COMPLETELY different vocal styles. Shinedown is another musical path sung by Brent Smith. Sort of a middle range between David and Aaron. But brighter than both. Aaron is very downtrodden, David is more powerful and strong.
The original version of this song comes across as a warning to the future...Disturbed's version is a realisation that it has all come true and we didn't heed the warning. Simply breath taking
never thought of it that way and i think you're totally right
I read comments regular on videos I watch, have for years. But some just stand out. This one does. Well put, very very well put. Thank you.
Damn. Fantastic assessment
Ya, you’re right.. fuck..
Nope we kept voting and pushing progress and socialism
Paul Simon told David that it was HIS song now - what a fabulous compliment!!!!!
Simon and Garfunkel have given us some of the best written music humanity will ever see... But so frequently they have not been the correct artist to capture the best, most definitive, most expressive, version of their own song.
@@theziggy1342 but they certainly made the foundations.
"Paul Simon told David that it was HIS song now - what a fabulous compliment!!!!!"
No he didn't say that; its just another internet myth.
However, Paul Simon did comment positively about Disturbed's version, and placed a link to it on his website.
That is a true compliment for an artist.
@@theziggy1342for me, Simon and Garfunkel are up there with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson; I love their songs, but I love them more when someone else is singing them, lol

Most people don't realize the fact how incredibly good metal singers really are !!! this is just one example and what great cover of one of the most beloved songs in music history !!
Howard Jones. Simple man. Epic
They're rock opera metal imho it takes very talented individuals to perform on this level. Too bad some waste that talent (nickelback especially go look up some live covers man's actually talented)
There's a TON of autotune on this song. Calling him an "incredibly good singer" is a bit of a stretch.
@@budsodastories I was never a huge Nickelback fan, but your right, and they have sold MILLIONS. So somebody likes them...
Can you get some confirmation about "TON" of autotune pls ? Ty
QUOTE TAKEN FROM REDDIT: "In April 2016, Paul Simon endorsed the cover. Additionally, on April 1, Simon sent Draiman an email praising Disturbed's performance of the rendition on American talk show Conan. Simon wrote, "Really powerful performance on Conan the other day. First time I'd seen you do it live. Nice. Thanks." Draiman responded, "Mr. Simon, I am honored beyond words. We only hoped to pay homage and honor to the brilliance of one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Your compliment means the world to me/us and we are eternally grateful."
Realizing it was on April fools makes my heart scared 😭😂
I think he did it it on Letterman too….while he had THE FLU and was mind blowing
Apparently Paul Simon told Disturbed that they sang it with the emotion it truly deserves, and that he loved it. Big compliment right there, most artists aren't too thrilled with covers.
For disturbed it must've been not only a great honor but a very much needed message to spread
Paul simon had also said that the song wasnt some profound message -_- it had no real meaning when they wrote it at all.
@@masterreaper115 Maybe it wasn't a profound and specific message, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a sincere and meaningful expression of emotion.
@Austin Kilgore no, humble would be like "Yeah it has a meaning, its like this." almost every song has some kind of meaning. There was no big "Wake up people you are ruining everything and this is a warning" meaning to this song
If he said that, share the interview or something for all the haters. So many were pissed about this cover
"It sounded so much more haunted and dark" you could say it sounded disturbed.

David trained as a cantor...to sing holy prayers and chants in synagogue. His voice is resonant, melodic and emotive ...and just plain beautiful.🙏
I wonder if some of the ways he sings is due to his accent.
Fascinating tidbit. It's always interesting to find these. Like Pat Benatar was trained in classical opera. 😮

This woman is so fascinating. Just watching her facial expressions it does something to you. She almost helps you take in another element or depth of what you're listening to.
Heartwarming story - especially for Simon and Garfunkel lovers like me . . . . . “Hello darkness, my old friend…” Everybody knows the iconic Simon & Garfunkel song, but do you know the amazing story behind the first line of The Sounds of Silence?
It began 62 years ago, when Arthur “Art” Garfunkel, a Jewish kid from Queens, enrolled in Columbia University. During freshman orientation, Art met a student from Buffalo named Sandy Greenberg, and they immediately bonded over their shared passion for literature and music. Art and Sandy became roommates and best friends. With the idealism of youth, they promised to be there for each other no matter what.
Soon after starting college, Sandy was struck by tragedy. His vision became blurry and although doctors diagnosed it as temporary conjunctivitis, the problem grew worse. Finally after seeing a specialist, Sandy received the devastating news that severe glaucoma was destroying his optic nerves. The young man with such a bright future would soon be completely blind.
Sandy was devastated and fell into a deep depression. He gave up his dream of becoming a lawyer and moved back to Buffalo, where he worried about being a burden to his financially-struggling family. Consumed with shame and fear, Sandy cut off contact with his old friends, refusing to answer letters or return phone calls.
Then suddenly, to Sandy’s shock, his buddy Art showed up at the front door. He was not going to allow his best friend to give up on life, so he bought a ticket and flew up to Buffalo unannounced. Art convinced Sandy to give college another go, and promised that he would be right by his side to make sure he didn’t fall - literally or figuratively.
Art kept his promise, faithfully escorting Sandy around campus and effectively serving as his eyes. It was important to Art that even though Sandy had been plunged into a world of darkness, he should never feel alone. Art actually started calling himself “Darkness” to demonstrate his empathy with his friend. He’d say things like, “Darkness is going to read to you now.” Art organized his life around helping Sandy.
One day, Art was guiding Sandy through crowded Grand Central Station when he suddenly said he had to go and left his friend alone and petrified. Sandy stumbled, bumped into people, and fell, cutting a gash in his shin. After a couple of hellish hours, Sandy finally got on the right subway train. After exiting the station at 116th street, Sandy bumped into someone who quickly apologized - and Sandy immediately recognized Art’s voice! Turned out his trusty friend had followed him the whole way home, making sure he was safe and giving him the priceless gift of independence. Sandy later said, “That moment was the spark that caused me to live a completely different life, without fear, without doubt. For that I am tremendously grateful to my friend.”
Sandy graduated from Columbia and then earned graduate degrees at Harvard and Oxford. He married his high school sweetheart and became an extremely successful entrepreneur and philanthropist.
While at Oxford, Sandy got a call from Art. This time Art was the one who needed help. He’d formed a folk rock duo with his high school pal Paul Simon, and they desperately needed $400 to record their first album. Sandy and his wife Sue had literally $404 in their bank account, but without hesitation Sandy gave his old friend what he needed.
Art and Paul's first album was not a success, but one of the songs, The Sounds of Silence, became a #1 hit a year later. The opening line echoed the way Sandy always greeted Art. Simon & Garfunkel went on to become one of the most beloved musical acts in history.
The two Columbia graduates, each of whom has added so much to the world in his own way, are still best friends. Art Garfunkel said that when he became friends with Sandy, “my real life emerged. I became a better guy in my own eyes, and began to see who I was - somebody who gives to a friend.” Sandy describes himself as “the luckiest man in the world.”
Adapted from Sandy Greenberg’s memoir: “Hello Darkness, My Old Friend: How Daring Dreams and Unyielding Friendship Turned One Man’s Blindness into an Extraordinary Vision for Life."
thank you for sharing this, that's a beautiful story
Wow! After reading this, this song even hit harder. Thank you. ❤
Thank you so much for posting this. You sent me down the rabbit hole of learning more, learning all about this story and the ripple effects... incredible. Thank you.
So beautiful! Thank you for posting this moving story.
Thank you for explaining this about the song. I'm at a loss for words. As well as extremely humbled. This definitely goes along with David's character, so I can see why he was drawn to this, and knowing the back story, would have been more reason to honor Simon and Garfunkel with a truly powerful cover.
As was once read, I now reciprocate: "Garfunkel's version represents a warning, while Disturbed's version represents rage since the warning was ignored."
The warning being ignored is represented by the instruments that were trashed or buried, and later brought back to the people on a boat.
Great comment, I know I'm late 😮
the energy of despairation too
Yes, great interpretation !

Yup my thoughts exactly, just wait with a knowing smile on my face
He's a metal singer... you want aggression, he'll give you aggression.
No matter how many times I listen to this song, it gives me chills and makes me well up. The emotion behind his voice is TANGIBLE
I know right? It is so truly powerful and absolutely causes involuntary tears to build up in my eyes every single time I hear it.
I agree! Holy smokes! My heart sinks like a brick my tears come rolling and I can’t stop them at all😭
I had never heard this version until my sister pointed me to it. I never cared for the original as it just had no feeling to me. This has anger and is great. It's better than the original by far.
As a loyal and diehard Disturbed fan for over two decades, seeing her slowly growing more and more excited as David was transitioning his voice into his traditional "Oooo-wah-a-a-a!!" towards the end of the song was the most adorable thing I've ever seen.
I think she got goosebumps.🥰
Having heard so many versions of this song, I think Disturbed actually found the essence of the song.
I totally agree
Something that always bugged me about S&G's version that always bugged me was that it sounds oddly happy? It's something you could bob your head to or something you'd fall asleep to. Disturbed's version feels more like a gut punch. Originally a warning, and now anger that it was ignored.
Paul Simon said that this was how he always envisioned could be!
@@elijiah4631 I do like songs that follow that theme usually, upbeat but the lyrics are darker than you would realise, however for such a monumental song I agree that it was the wrong direction.
@@elijiah4631 The times were different. The early 60s was a time of folk music, just coming out of an era of classic pop. I don't think this version would have been successful then, but man is it powerful now!
Simon & Garfunkel version: Humanity's cry for help.
Disturbed version: Humanity's last warning.
Simon and Garfunkel: the warning.
Disturbed: the judgement.
Bingo! 👍
Great assessment!
Haven't heard this comment a thousand fucking times
Absolutely
All these years later, I still get goosebumps hearing this song...
I think this is THE most stunning cover of a song I have heard.
He expresses the frustration of sonwriters and singers who try to change the world with their music,
but cheap advertising and flashing lights win out all the time.
And that ladies and gentlemen is what an eargasm looks like. The leaning in, quick breaths and rapid blinking and eye movement. Bravo.
You can't forget the moment it hits her and she leans back straight after and looks like she's just been hit by the weight of the world
Not gonna lie, this was really fucking weird to read. Kudos.
Not to disagree or anything but....saying it was an eargasm was really enough....the description was kiiiiinda...cringe inducing
@@Jo_youwhatmate not to disagree but I'm still glad it was said and it was a fantastic fucking comment, cringe can be great

I get emotional enough listening to this version alone but watching Elizabeth's reaction made me laugh and cry at the same time - thanks!
Disturbed arranged and executed this once-in-human-history cover Perfectly.
Absolutely flawless.
Aside from all the autotune, anyway.
Beauty can be found in so many forms. His voice is simply incredible. Chester Benington had the same talent. Chris Cornell too. These voices are perfectly pitched, designed to show pain or anger...it brings something so incredibly spine tingling to any piece.
He is not really on par with them.
Serjio from SOAD and Maynard James Keenan also have some killer vocal skills
@@carltextor8184mjk does it best. I'm part of the TOOL army, so I'm a little biased.
Something funny, my father showed me this song as the best cover he has ever heard and I finally got to say to him "you remember the time you stormed upstairs, pulled the CD out of my stereo and snapped it into shards (albeit the outro to Down With the Sickness) claiming it was evil?....this is the same band".

As beautiful as this version is, listen to when he sang it on the Conan O'Brian show. His voice is so clear. It is glorious!
Elizabeth's friend from Down under, Julia, has also done a reaction to this song, showing the "Conan" version. Their reactions...what they caught...what they discussed...are they sisters from a different mother?
I saw that and could watch it a thousand times more with the same reaction each time! Just spectacular.
It's a shame that that performance too was auto tuned. Alledgedly against David's own wishes.
And the fact he was sick that night made his voice even deeper giving it a more rich tone
Yeah, it actually WASN'T as clear as it could of been! He was sick at the time and STILL absolutely killed it that night!
I could listen to this 1000 times, and every single time get goosebumps. David's version is simply astounding.
Not many songs give me goosebumps, but this one does every time.
She genuinely looks like she's in love with the music. Wow. She really cares a lot about the music.
And that makes it so much better...That's a wonderful thing to see
She genuinely looks like she’s a freak. Her reaction totally creeped me out. This is a beautiful and amazing song. But her facial expressions during the song were so exaggerated that it just comes off as faking it.
I took many years of vocal lessons, she is really listening to the song. I still get frisson every time I hear this version. As someone who can appreciate musical talent, she is likely not faking and actually feeling this song.
It (music) is a religious experience for her. And I. Probably many of us
Her expressions are priceless, they are in every video visible, in some, like here, more than the other videos. She is so cartoon-ish because of it, like some cartoon character when expressing emotions, because human naturally can't express emotions that well, so in anime and cartoons characters express their emotions very visibly and making it very obvious. Usually you wont see people like her doing such facial emotional expressions. She is a rare being. :D
People never realize how beautiful the voices of rock singers are.
I learned much of the depth of the song from thin rendition too.
They have beautifull voice actually if they do a normal songs.
*metal singers
But yes
I think maybe something some people don't get is that not all singing is meant to be "pretty" and "likable", and that not all beauty is "nice" and "correct". Or even further, that not all anger is bad or wrong either. This cover is really an excellent showcase of one way of "what angry growling is for", because it shows us an emotional story that wouldn't be complete without anger: It begins in loss and grief at the dearth of communication and connection, which is shown in the abandoned and destroyed instruments and desolate landscapes, and perfectly mirrored in the tender, grieving clean vocals. Humankind is shown as disconnected and lost. The singer(and the band) then attempts to get people to listen to eachother, and to hear the message. But when the message falls to deaf ears, instead of falling back to despair, quietness and acquiescence, they dig into their fury. They won't accept and give up humanity to the worship of money and consumption (the neon god), but *demands* to be heard, *demands* to break through.
In essence, the message to me is that culture, music and humanity have to shake themselves free, even by anger, to find themselves, find eachother, to live for eachother and not for neon lights. And David takes us through from those emotions of sorrow and loss, through the build up of hope and confidence, up to a crescendo of anger - and finally back to the calm of a new possibility as the musicians arrive with their songs. And in this context the distorted singing is an absolutely incredible way to convey that emotion.
I'd say this is an excellent "gateway" for people who "don't get why people would listen to such ugly things". This is why.
I love when metal singers do more tradition, lyric pieces. I feel like the rasp they develop in their voices from their own genre brings a really new depth and flavor to other genres. This is a perfect example.
this is the first song i've seen you review that you were completely drawn into to the point of not be able to add your comments to it as it was running. couple that to the facial expressions as the emotions hit you tells the story of both the words and his performance of them!!! this cover is stunning!!!!!

(I'm 64)This version is the first song that has ever put a tear in my eye.. absolutely AWESOME
Its that SOUL he brings.
Lows and highs. He just has a meaty strong voice, and he knows how to use it. That is what i love about his work. Like Howard Jones from Killswitch Engage! I love metal vocals with that soul behind it!
the fact that he waits for that emotion to build for 3 minutes before growling for the first time is what sells it, in my opinion, and he sells it very well indeed.
This is it. It's the time he's building it and we are waiting for the climax that makes this version perfect
ABSOLUTELY ❤️ best version in my opinion, but I'm also a metal head
So sold it.

Welcome to the wonderful world of metal! These people are typically classically trained but through emotion and artistiry they develop their own way to convey their emotions. The official studio version is great but the live performance with full orchestra on Conan was unbelievable. Highly recommend checking that out.
Totally agree! That live version absolutely takes it to an additional level!
Are you serious? That version was mostly autotuned because he had a cold. David was not very happy about it either. In a way, you are lucky that you don't hear autotune. Once you spot it, you can't stand it.
czcams.com/video/v_h9-Cpn_uY/video.html
Yes, there is autotune. Yes he hates it. But I (and many others) are allowed to love it. Many artists hate the work that others can't get enough of. There is actually a spot where not even the autotune could help him and it was an obvious wrong note.
But the cold put a second level of rasp in his voice that can't be autotuned out. The look on his face and the fists he pounds as he fights for that note are very visually powerful. The staging with the lights slowly turning on, highlighting each new instrument as it joins in and the music swells. That's visually powerful.
It's not just the voice that makes a song great.
It was beyond awesome on canan

Suddenly this amazing song faded into the background of watching your reaction. To say that you possess an absolutely incredible natural beauty would be like saying the song you were listening to was a “neat little tune.”
This is one of the best reaction videos I think I've ever seen. Knowing how amazing this version is and how thrilled you would be and anticipating your reaction to various parts was thrilling❤
Watching her expressions, it looks like she's enjoying a personal concert in her head. It's like she was born deaf, had an operation and now she's listening to sound for the very first time and we're witnessing her falling in love with music.
That's what I felt as well. Being a musician there's nothing better than watching someone genuinely enjoying music like that.
This is exactly why she's my favorite reactor to music. Along with her knowledge of the subject matter.
Thought the same thing. Like, wow, you're REALLY enjoying that. Should I hit pause and give you a moment?
The mix of genuine discovery for something new and authentic pleasure on her expressions while listening to the cover makes you realize how powerful a good performance can be, even to a professional.
@@ExiledRave perfectly said! Thank you.
Actually a lot of metal vocalists such as this have an incredible range - really rare talent that they dont often get enough credit for
Say like Chad grey or Corey Taylor, they can scream like the devil and sing like an Angel
So "actually a lot" have this range, but it's a "rare" talent? Do a lot have it, or is it rare? lol
@@bryanmatherly6586 you have a lot of free time dont you Bryan
@@DUKEBLADE Just as much as you do, apparently.
@@DanzGmod565 Ivan Moody is quite good too. And lest we forget, there's Tarja
Every time I hear this version of this song I get goose bumps. I love the sadness and anger he adds to the lyrics and you can really feel it. I'm glad you reviewed this version and I absolutely loved your reactions, both visual and emotional.
I've watched a couple of your videos and I don't know what's better, the excellent songs you pick or your genuine emotional reaction to them. I'm a musician but not a vocal coach, and I'm appreciating these songs on a certain level. I can't imagine what you must be hearing. Keep up the great work!
I am 63 years old now. Heard the original when I was a kid. S&G did it to perfection then. Decades go by and all that's changed are the faces and the names, while the silence has only deepened. And this mans voice reflects that deeper frustration perfectly. I wouldn't change a thing... Its perfection exactly as he's done it.
So true.
I love the band and the song so I've seen A LOT of vocal coaches review this song and the comments are so spot on. Someone made the comment that the original version was a warning and this version was a call to arms as the warning was ignored. That captured the essence of both songs to me.
I am 68, and I agree with you completely. They have captured the spirit of the song.
I am 132 years old and i agree as well.
My dad in a similar age bracket, rolled his eyes when my brother told him about this song by 'Disturbed' (and almost didntwant to hear it. now its his favorite song.
What he put in to that was his whole soul. You can feel it all the way down to your bone marrow. Paul Simon said to david when hearing the cover- "My song was a warning. Your song is the rage because the warning was ignored. It is your song now. Not mine"
I looked into this, but honestly I've not been able to find a direct quote from him saying this. And that doesn't mean that he didn't, just that I can't find any evidence of it.
I feel like if Paul had said this, David would have mentioned it in this video? czcams.com/video/ntNfwoKD0XA/video.html I also am not saying Paul did not say what you wrote, but it seems he was quite taken with the cover.
😭😭😭Powerful
Source?
@@GregerMoek Bro, just trust me
Such an astute, intelligent woman! I can't get enough!! Thank you for being you.
Your facial expressions throughout tell a tale on their own, really exposing the emotion of each segment of the song. Well done. Great breakdown.
Just like Johnny Cash was meant to sing hurt.... I think he was meant to sing this.
I don't actually know how S&G feel about this cover, but I know Trent said that Hurt wasn't his song anymore. That takes nothing away from the originals. Just a storyteller acknowledging that someone told their story better. Story written is still amazing.
@@christopherreinig8757 When
David finished the song and S&G listened to it, they said that is how the song should have been sang this whole time.
I was just about to make this comment. lol Yes as Hurt is now Johnny Cash's. Sound of Silence is now Disturbed's.
David Draiman is a trained Cantor until he went with Disturbed.
He sings this song like no other person in the world
David Draiman actually has a lot of classical musical training, which is why his voice has such a strong range
Bruce Dickinson is another great example of that.
David's a trained Opera singer.
THE Bruce Dickenson?
You said actually🤣🤣
@@KackWORSTFan86 yes, THE bruce dickinson. he puts his pants on just like everybody else, one leg at a time. the only difference is, when he's done he makes gold records.
I really love the genuine movement and earnest and joy she experiences while listening to music. I'm obsessed with her.
This cover is just out of this planet. And it’s by far more emotionally charged, deep, vocally stunning and…so much better than the original! 🤘❤️
The original version: The sad warning while still having hope
Disturbs version: The rage that the warning wasn't heeded
Could not have said it better. Bravo !!
I love this interpretation! The emotion that climaxes in this song really conveys an air of loss and disappointment.
It's only the 47th version of this song that someone posts this same comment in. Solid copy and paste job. Still not ground breaking or original "insight"
It's been posted elsewhere? Huh well even so I still believe it's a very true statement on the song
Listen to Jonathan Young's cover of the Disturbed version. It's like the determination that comes after the anger to do something about it.
I want to find a girl who looks at me, like Elizabeth looks at music.
She is quite beautiful. I love her pretty hair and how positive and honest she is.
yeah thats facts
That would be a tall order, to be music to a woman. To actually embody what music is for a lady. That's a noble cause to seek to achieve, if it's the right lady. Maybe that's why some women prefer to date musicians. Maybe that's what they're looking for. Music anthropomorphized.
My thoughts exactly
Watching her reactions to the soft, dark sadness in the beginning, and then the build with frustration to anger and seemingly to resignation... her expressions are definitely something to yearn for. Seeing her compassion and empathy for the emotions expressed is a joy to experience, even if it it is just a video... imagine seeing this in person.
I'm a grown ass man and no matter what every single time I hear Davids range...I literally tear up. This guy is amazing. 10 / 10 . Great cover
Saw them live, and he sounds EXACTLY the same live as he does in this recording; he's truly talented.
What. No he doesn't.
i dont care how many times i hear Disturbed's version i get goosebumps everytime!!!!
Have you seen the version where Myles Kennedy joins him on stage live? It's epic!
EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!
Its a crazy good version. Absolutely love it
Absolutely
I always get that too, love this version of the song.
In 2016, my youngest brother had "discovered" this version and I remember him raving about it. Soon after he unexpectedly died in his sleep of heart arrhythmia. We played it at his funeral. I think this is the first time that I have listened to this song in almost 7 years. 😥
Condolences, U should listen to this song more for your brother, it is truely heartfelt, keep him.alive in you ❤
Okay who is cutting onions here? 😢
😢
삼가 고인의 명복을 빕니다.
Oof, that brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for sharing
I really appreciate her analysis of the song she broke down what was making his performance extra special and I appreciate that more now even though I recognized how controlled his voice was, I now see how extraordinary it is by her analysis. Thank you so much!
His voice control is outstanding. It’s beautiful.
02:00 Elizabeth: "This was not what I was expecting at ALL."
The Internet: "That's why we've been recommending it!"
the fact that this did not even win one Grammy, shows you how the Grammys, don't have enough respect to rock and metal. Its a crime
Tell me about it, her reactions, made me think of how people like her in general, underestimate Rock and Metal singers
I thought the Grammy only give out awards to people just because they are popular lol ?
Honestly I couldn't care less about all those stupid award show stuffs...it's a joke...it's just because there's a major fan base doesn't mean it's good...
It's a fact Humans at times are like Sheep...
Surely humans aren't like sheep...oh yeah the USA elected trump and then they started drinking hand sanitizer
Well Metallica had grammy
The Grammys almost NEVER give awards to covers.
Brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to it.....
The emotional progression in the lyrics as expressed in the vocals is perfectly nuanced and nothing short of masterful!
David is the musical definition of never judge a book by its cover. He can put together a beautiful melodic performance or do 5 minutes of growling and animalistic rage.
Thing is you NEED the control he exhibits here in order to not hurt yourself with the more brutal sounds.
He's a great artist💯
I've been listening to Disturbed since the early 2000's - and I had no idea he could do something like this. It blew me away.
@Big Mike No No No... her entire reaction to Pantara's Cemetery Gates is the pure definition of Never Judge A Book By Its Cover
I saw disturbed in 2009 and 2019, and it was like seeing two different bands. 2009 it was straight up metal, 2019, the only true metal sound was from 3 or 4 songs out of a 2 hour set
She legit looks like she's having an eargasm.
Right about the climax of the song too.
9:48
This song is the guy her parents told her not to date.
That’s because she is 😊😍❤️👍🏻
we all do bro
I always love Elizabeth's reactions, and she can't help teaching me why I love the things I do. Really enjoyed seeing your appreciation for this version.
I love this channel. Her enthusiasm and love of music is so contagious and she always makes my day so much happier ❤
8:55 - he had this darkness growing inside of him...
Everyone here: OOH AH AH AH
It was obvious bc all that was good has died and it's decaying in him
This is why I check the comments section lol
holy shit lol thanks for that i woulda missed it lmfao
Speaking of darkness growing inside... the style reminds me of their older song "Darkness" itself. Just as haunting and... Disturbed.
LMFAO
I never watched someone actively going through the process of falling in love in a video before.
Watch more of Elizabeth, my friend. She LIVES the music.
@@bigg2988 I dig it 👍

Your reactions are priceless. As well as the expert input that you provide. It's nice to see someone so passionate about music. 💯
The BEST Sound of Silence cover ever!!! His voice, the music, the way it goes growing! Absolutely gorgeous version! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Simon himself sent an email to David Draiman, giving his praise to his cover after seeing it on Conan.
I believe he specifically said: this is your song now.
What a neat detail. Thanks Brandon!
@@ryanedwardson6541 David brought new depth and meaning. Corporate music industry is evil.
@@TheCharismaticVoice Hello. I love this song the way Disturbed sings it.
this is a video of Draiman worming up during sound checks with the song 'Unchained Melody'.
loudwire.com/watch-disturbed-david-draiman-warm-up-unchained-melody-soundcheck/
About David, some have told you that he is a classically trained vocalist and does exercises to safely make his voice raspy. Look at his mouth and jaw positioning when he is holding those raspy words. And also how he holds on the 'N' in silence. I also read that he has or had bad acid reflux disease and needed surgery to repair the valve between the esophagus and stomach. One report also said that he has a 6 octave range, which may be stretching it a bit BUT i'm not the professional.
If you see my 'profile pic' you can see who I was for 21 year ('90--'11), well who I still am but no longer active. In the middle of that time I spent 10 days working at the site (Ground Zero) in New York City. When I hear this song, I see those sights, the pictures, the videos, the pile in front of me. I didn't search for people, but I performed support roles. Mostly I cleaned FDNY and NYPD guys off as they got off the pile to go into the rehab or to leave. And so many of those lyrics voice what those images were.
@@firebeecher Thanks for the link! That was great, I always love hearing a vocalist sing a capella! I'm going to send that to my son who is a big fan.
Her facial expressions while listening to the song are just SOOO FRIGGIN CUTE!!!!
thats the look of someone having her breath taken away
I’m in love with her because she feels music and shows it ughhh I’m with you
I agree!!! I was like 😍
I'd love to see her react to the live version too. It's a much different performance.
That little bit of almost panic at the end.
This is a masterful and inspiring version of a classic. Absolutely beautiful. Bravo David!
I love disturbed. This song blew my mind. His delivery is beyond amazing. His voice just resonates straight to your mind and captures your heart.
David Dramain was trained as a synagogue cantor, which is why his voice sounds "classical." This is one of my favorite songs!
I love how he takes a Bass-Baritone voice and uses it to bring life to the song! It is like he is pouring every bit of pain, hurt, and rage he has experienced in his life. I like the original. I LOVE this version! Simply a beautiful!
@@brandonriggs1788 really?! I had no idea!
I was going to say that. David is very well trained
@@joeadrian2860 I saw one of these ladies who are trained classically who do these blogs say his voice was auto tuned! I really like this gurl here. She hears the cool stuff! Like the actual silence in beginning.
@@usedscar it was only auto tuned in one instance and he had the flu and still sang it. Also he was pissed to o ow they used it.
Not this version tho.
Disturbed's rendition of this song gives me chills every time
same here. I've probably listened to this song 100 times and each time I get emotional
Chills pretty much all throughout the song. Such a great rendition.
It makes me cry... I love this song and this version is amazing!
One of my favs to do karaoke too
Truly does
I was strolling over CZcams and ended up on reaction videos about this song.
I absolutely love your mimics developing through the song giving away so much gratitude to the singer. Starting of with a slint professional face not knowing what would come but not convinced since you know what disturbed usualy performs musicwise. Then developing surprise and absolute joy changing again into couriosness and an adorable smile while your ears urge to hear more. As the sound develops through the song your impressions are climaxing in joy. Beautiful agony.
Thank you for your video - I liked your explanations as well. 😊
The opening just sends chills up and down my spine. Goosebumps.
David's range is absolutely insane. That line of "and the people bowed and prayed" gives me chills everytime because of how seemlessly that grit is carried in
Bro... that line gets me every single time. The raw emotion and grit
Pity that he used autotune.
"But my words like silent raindrops fell" give me chills everytime too!
I weep every time i hear this version of this song.
(not a professional so excuse my poor wording) Whenever he transitions between sustained low, smooth tones and sustained higher, louder, more distorted tones, I definitely get chills, in both this song and Down with the Sickness. I especially like his violent change of tone during the line "Suddenly it changes, violently it changes"...not sure what that's called but like...discriptive lyrics? They describe a change in the music or in this case, the tone.
I don't think I've ever actually watched someone fall legitimately in love until now. Neat.
I totally agree! It appeared somewhat orgasmic to her. With every word it was almost like a little push every time until the end and then it let go all at once.
Loved it.
