If you have been wondering, “Is Mario Golf Super Rush worth it?” then this video is for you. Mario Golf has a really good reputation. While other Mario spinoffs have had at least one mediocre or even bad entry, Mario Golf has stayed really consistent throughout the years, with one fun game after another. Sadly for lots of reviewers, Mario Golf: Super Rush seems to break that cycle. Super Rush is currently sitting at a 71 on Metacritic, which is shockingly even lower than Mario Tennis Aces. Reviewers definitely have not sugar-coated their opinions, calling the game unremarkable, underwhelming, and “a shaky foray.” Well, this video will detail whether Mario Golf Super Rush is worth it and whether it lives up to the reputation that Mario Golf Toadstool Tour and World Tour set. This Mario Golf Super Rush review will go over adventure mode, speed golf, battle golf, and much more. I've played an absolute butt ton of mario games but I've never played a mario sports game. Never realized that until now
its gorgrownwn on me, tbh i think the fact you cant see EXACRTLY the flight of the ball like toadstool tour balances out the 3rd click being missing and i dont mind the strategy of shooting less power with more accuracy vs risking it for more distance, plus shaping shots in the split second after adding power/spin is a great way to adjust on the fly if u overhit/underhit (pro tip, you can add like 20-30m to drives by shapping the ball down 3arrows for the first two segments/half of the bar and then full arrows up for the second half of the bar, but if u only do one or the otther ull end up shooting shorter than usual as the ball will go too high or drop too soon)
Mark I love your videos! Honestly I really respect your view and look back on the old titles, and earlier golf games, honestly it’s nice to see someone put this much effort and love into a series that I feel hasn’t gotten the time of day. I hope you continue to produce videos and when i do my toadstool tour review, you should take the mic and give your opinion!

I did enjoy Super Rush quite a lot, even as someone who loves Mario Golf 64 and Toadstool Tour. I liked the streamlined mechanics, it just feel good to play, even in the standard golf mode, which surprisingly is the one I prefered! Speed Golf is fun and all, but I prefer something less chaotic when playing online, and it was always pretty fun, especially with the option of everyone hitting the ball at once. That was truly a godsend, it sped up the process immensely, not having to watch everyone hit their ball while waiting for your turn.
But yes, I do agree the game feels very rushed in many aspects, with most of them being stuff you talked about in the video. The story mode in particular is something that felt like they had to wrap it up before they could flesh it out properly because it just kinda ends abruptly, it legit took me by surprise lmao I was like "wait it's over?"
Now something I'd like to bring up is the soundtrack. You used a ton of tracks from Toadstool Tour in this video and I think the reason is very clear: Toadstool Tour has a very memorable soundtrack, while Super Rush does NOT. This is something that has been bothering me a lot with Motoi Sakuraba's recent soundtracks for these Mario sports games, because I love this composer, his soundtracks for Mario Golf 64, Mario Tennis 64 and Toadstool Tour are some of my favorite game OSTs ever, but his recent work just feels extremely bland and same-y. If you show me a track from Tennis Aces and another from Super Rush I won't be able to distinguish them, because both of these soundtracks sound so similar, while if you compare the soundtracks for Golf 64 and Tennis 64 they're completely unique from one another.

thanks so much for this comment!! yeah even though i didn’t really love Super Rush for a lot of objective reasons compared to the previous games in the series, I still did have some fun moments playing it with friends. I think there is potential in the ideas that Super Rush presents, but it doesn’t explore them or commit to them enough.
the comment that you mentioned about the music is interesting to me too. The music in Super Rush is fine and sufficient, but it’s almost too bombastic and grandiose for a golf game. This is all very subjective obviously, but I really prefer the more subdued and relaxing tracks in the previous games (particularly Toadstool Tour.) I’m no music theorist, but I just can’t help but feel like Super Rush’s soundtrack is almost too high-energy for a golf game. However, that could have been intentional since this game is so centered around speed golf.

Great video, Even though I almost disagreed with every part I still had fun since you explained your views pretty good also about your Free Updates part, I would have understood your views on free updates...IF THIS WASN'T NINTENDO! because seriously let's take a look at the following games.
Super Mario Maker 2 - 2 updates and both could have been in the base game.
Mario Tennis Aces - just a bunch of new characters who could have been in the base game.
Super Mario Odyssey - Just one new mode who could have been in the base game.
Seeing a pattern right?
CTR Nitro Fueled(A Non-Nintendo Game) - 9 Updates each with a brand new track, 1,5 to 8 new characters, bunch of new karts, wheels, stickers and decals, new modes, new type of time trial ghosts all of this would only have worked after people played atleast a month of the game.
And by the looks of things Super Rush will just have like a new course every month who could have been in the base game.

I feel like they downgraded the main golf, But I might buy it one day, But I spent my money on WarioWare and Indie games
yeah, the golf is definitely less mechanically interesting than it was in previous games. I still enjoyed Super Rush for what it was worth, but man there’s so many interesting games coming out in the next couple of months I don’t blame you for wanting to save your money lol.

I totally agree with everything in this video. I hope updates will expand on the clever aspects of this game. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed speed golf the most. I actually watched a competitive, speed-golf tourney recently and I think that there’s a lot of potential for that scene.
