I watched The Double last night and it is super good. I love the plot, the transitions and most definitely the characters. I love how the leads are all so smart. I like WXY’s character the most he seems so morally grey and that intrigued me to see what he would do next plus I love the way they introduce him ( The Red suits him so much). I also like how Jiang Li is not blinded by revenge which could make her reckless like the other female leads with this kind of plot.

Finished watching insect detective two gave it a 9/10; it was very good even though the ending was a bit rushed. I do like that type of genre and it’s very different from your regular crime dramas. Congratulations to XZ and crew for wrapping this 5 month shoot. Waiting for Reba’s song on Spotify. It’s her bday June 3rd. The guys looked pretty great at the GQ creative event. I follow two people that went to that thing, and they looked pretty snazzy as did the others that I recognized.
On the topic of the magnolia awards, all I can say is that the veteran actor deserved the nomination. As do all the veteran actors in that category. Just because someone is the male lead doesn’t necessarily mean he will get nominated for that award. That’s not just them, that’s how actual awards work internationally as well that are not fan voted but are strictly based on a committee’s choice.

I have just finished watching JOL 2,I really enjoyed it,and cant wait for season 3
Hi Marcus, it has clearly been a big trend recently to cast traffic actors alongside proper serious actors and in all cases, the performances speak for themselves and it is good that the industry is equitable about recognizing that in the Magnolia Awards nomination process. Wang Yang is a grey character but I would not call him the villain in War of Faith, Zhang Tian Yang is actually the villain and he also delivered an amazing performance. If I had to rank the performances it would be Wang Yang, Zhang Tian Yang, Li Qin and Wang Yibo. Yibo did indeed deliver a performance that makes me take him seriously going forward but the entire cast is incredibly strong. Lan Xiya also made a huge impression and is a new talent to watch; she also appeared briefly in Netflix's version of Three Body as a Red Guard.
I am sad JOL2 has come to an end until S3 but The Double is surprisingly good and consoling me somewhat.

I had thought this was probably what happened but since I wasn't familiar with the rules, couldn't be sure. Now that you've reported on it, I'm happy to know Wang Yang's excellent acting was noted. He added the necessary tension to his character and the plot. Go Wang Yang! And how cool of the older actor in Blossoms Shanghai with the decision of taking his name off the list!
I plan to watch The Double. Just want more episodes out first. I hope the viewers here will give me an idea whether they like it, etc.

This isn't just fans upset bc their fave didn't get the nomination. You acknowledged in a previous comment that Yibo's role was the main character. The director said as much in an interview as well. He basically says the drama revolves around Wei Ruolai. So the other characters revolve around his. To have WY nominated for male lead actor of WoF is a snub to wyb.
They use these "traffic" artists to get their projects attention. They pushed Wyb front and center to promote it. All promotional posters had Yibo in the front before, during, and after UNTIL this nomination. Now they have WY in front 😏. But regardless of how they used him, wyb more than delivered in his role as the main character. I can't help but think it's a slap to Yibo for production to have submitted WY under ML.

I was just stating Wang Yang's acting was better than WYB's and thus, his nomination was well-deserved. YMMV. Apparently, though, the people voting during the second round agreed with me.
Now WYB's "fans" are on Weibo attacking Wang Yang's wife under HER account. This kind of "fan" behavior has got to stop. It doesn't do WYB any favors and makes everything tastes sour, including a good drama that deserves accolades, including WYB's improved acting.

I think Wang Yang's acting was good. I have no issue with it at all and I don't think he nor his family should be getting any backlash. Yes, it doesn't help Yibo in any way and does take away from a great drama. My issue is that his nomination should have been in the supporting category.
Like I said these production companies use these artist's popularity to get what they want...and then 🤷🏻♀️
Also some ppl are questioning as to whether it's true if yibo's name really was submitted... Idk where this is coming from but it be nice if the producers of the drama would say something.
And there has been talk for some time (not just this time or just this award) that "traffic" artists are frowned upon with these awards. And there is a judge on the jury who has made his feelings known publicly on "traffic" artists. There's been many times when the older person with certain credentials is nominated where general public disagrees. So I don't hold much weight to it especially when they only see a snippet of the drama.
You clearly think WY did better but WY's acting was not the one being acknowledged by GP, critics, and media, during and after the drama ran.

I think the submission for the awards is flawed. The director clearly stated in an interview that the Main character was Wei Ruolai and the drama revolved around his story. The drama began with WRL's dialogue and ended with WRL's dialogue. Bc WY was billed 3rd lead doesn't mean his character wasn't a supporting character to the MAIN one. Also throughout the airing of the drama the most talked about character was Wei Ruolai by general public, critics, and media. And even after it aired they still kept praising him. Shen Tunan, WY's character, didn't generate the same attention. In no way shape or form did wyb lag behind wy.
This isn't just Yibo fans being upset but many non fans that watched the show and loved Wei Ruolai.
That being said ppl need to behave reasonably and not cause unnecessary drama.
The drama was billed with both of them as leads (along with LQ), from the very first announcement. This was a co-lead drama. WYB himself didn't take top billing, he signed up for the drama on the basis that he'd be sharing billing with the other two. If he was happy to accept that arrangement, you should be too.
@@ManyGhosts Sorry, you're wrong. There was a billing order and Wang Yang was 3rd. Placement is a big deal in Chinese dramas and films. It's not my thing but you're not going to whitewash it. It was very clear in all advertising, marketing, and promotional materials that Yibo was TOP billing. And I'll repeat what I already put in my post. The director stated the storyline centered around Wei Ruolai's character. Which means the other characters revolved around him.

People who haven’t watched War of faith should refrain from giving their opinion about who should have been nominated for Magnolia awards. I enjoyed Joy of Life 2 in all its aspects. I ended up watching it on MZTV for the English translation, as Tencent botched my experience and disrespected us with AI translations. The AI translations are truly horrible. They make no sense and make it impossible to follow the plot.
As a Tencent VIP customer, 😢I feel cheated. How do you guys feel about this?

Why should they? It's as popular as KFC in the PRC for the past 30+ years. I remember at the time of the bombing of the Chinese embassy in ex Yugoslavia, the Macdonald's we'd been to had big posters in the window that day, claiming they were managed by Chinese staff : the mammoth demonstration passed by on the avenue in Nanjing and the restaurant was not touched despite staying open with no security guards. Different from the US embassy in Beijing which weathered some stones and bricks throws, before the Chinese police cordoned it off a little better.

Wang Yibo was VERY GOOD in that drama.
I already raved about it when it aired, and though he was not alone to play excellently, he was nonetheless undoubtedly the desirable ML in that one.
People who actually watched War of Faith know why fans are upset about this situation, because in truth Wang Yibo’s character is the main lead, and he was just as good if not better than Wang Yang in this drama. He brought both great acting and immense traffic to the drama therefore made it successful. He was robbed of this nomination because of Chinese stupid seniority rules, which rewards age over actual performance, and a stupid production team who somehow doesn’t seem to know who the main lead of their drama is. 🤷🏻♀️
Just to clarify: Wang Yang is nominated in the main lead category and he isn’t the main lead, that’s why people are upset. Even a smart kindergarten kid could tell who the main lead is. Also nobody would complain if Wang Yang were nominated as a supporting actor…
I’m not sure if Wang Yibo was the only main lead in that drama. Because screen time was distributed mostly evenly among them. It would be fair to say that there were 3 main characters, including the girl.
“Leading male” is technically listed as Wang Yibo on websites but it doesn’t mean he is the only male lead in the drama.
Wang Yibo screen time is 713 minutes not including the screen time of wang yibo that wasn't detected during torture scene in episodes 13 and 14
During promotion, the whole team promoted it as one Big male lead drama and let wang yibo fans carry all the promotion hard work for doing data
Unlike other dramas , Wof is not part of iQIYI top 10, iQiyi did not even post anything about it until the last 3 days before airing
Wang yang has only 500 minutes and liqin who is 2nd lead has lesser
And 713 + is greater than 500 , its not even
The story started with wei roulai, peaked for Wei roulai and ended with Wei roulai
Everyone was just a cannon fodder, and stepping stone to promote wei roulai growth from being an innocent poor boy to a man with unwavering faith for the sake of his people and country
The Story revolves only around wei roulai ,It's a male centric drama with only 1 lead !
And that wang yang 500 minutes is mostly scenes with Wei roulai

@@worldofedits3641 the director himself stated in an interview that Wei Ruolai was the MAIN character and how the drama centered around HIS story. He literally emphasized how the drama starts with Yibo's character and how it ends with him.
Wang Yang may have been casted as 3rd lead but his role still revolved around yibo's. That sounds like a supporting character to me.
And it be one thing if Yibo's acting lagged behind Wang Yangs. But it clearly didn't considering all the positive attention it brought.

And as others have already mentioned, the screen time is not evenly distributed, Wang Yibo has significantly more screen time.
The fact that you missed all this makes me think that maybe you didn’t watch the drama, so you are voicing your opinion without having the knowledge.
❤ this award body is only for senior citizens. Young actors like YB shouldnt be recognized. Stupid old judges dont realize fans are not stupid. We only watched bec of YB. If not for him, this drama would not even be hyped. They cannot accept that YB acted superbly and was the icing on the cake.

The general public, critics, media, etc. all talked about WoF. The main talk was Wei Ruolai, Wang Yibo's character and how great his acting was. And rn it's not just wyb fans that were commenting on this issue but fans of the drama and critics of the show.
