I finished watching The Double. It is a good show, the best 2024 chinese drama for me. Wang Xingyue and Wu Jinyan are undoubtedly excellent in their acting and chemistry. And I have now become an ardent fan of Xinguye that I 'll definitely look forward to his future projects. Love both of them ❤

I'm glad that Wu Jinyan goes with the first choice. Taking a break, choosing suitable roles and good scripts is better than accepting random roles, bad scripts or weak plots.

Asian popular idols are probably the very few who can pick and choose their projects.
But the problem is age and younger actors and actresses are always ready to step in and take what roles you might turn down.
So many Asian movies and series are cranked out so fast and mostly are forgettable. But in the same vein they are popular because the viewers don’t have to think too much and don’t have the time to ponder but would rather move on to the next series,etc.
The Double was one of the best of this year.Wang Xingyue,though he is still young,but his acting is excellent.I'm his fans now.Wu Jin did his good job in this series, i love it,so perfect. Now waiting for Lost you 4ver..

I just finished the Double yesterday and Gosh do I love it 😍. Everything is perfect more so because of the extra. I’m glad that the actors are getting recognition for it. What a wonderful drama. The Double surpassed all my expectations. I hope more people will watch it cause it is so good.

Already enjoying Follow Your Heart... So far nothing ground breaking, but it's very well done, with decent fight scene choreography and effective creation of humor, suspense and romance... Very comfortable watch.
Not allowing actors taking a break is kind of crazy because they need rest. Rather u take a break and recharge than just taking random roles that doesn't help you improve your art.

Marcus many thanks for the well chosen insight into the "real" workings of the CDrama world. Wu Jinyan's candour is to be applauded; the difficulties faced by actors/actresses as they navigate their careers after the initial rookie years are obviously many & stressful. Only the brave will survive in the long run. It is such a big pity that in Asia there is the absurd expectation that actors/actresses renounce on having a "private life" concurrent to their work careers. It is such a cruel & unnecessary demand. Although cultural beliefs should be respected, all forms of discrimination are well past their by-date. No one should have to choose between personal happiness and the ability to work in the entertainment business as is obviously the case in China & South Korea (to mention a few concrete examples).

Follow your heart is definitely a hidden gem. The drama feels natural, acting, story development, fighting scenes etc. It is definitely worth to watch.
Hi Marcus, just finished The Double. So. Good. I don't think I've been this eager for more episodes since Lost You Forever last year and I think my enthusiasm for it beats LYF. It was very addicting and engaging. I'd rewatch this like I do with Love Like The Galaxy.
Looking forward to LYF Season 2. I think. LOL. Not sure whether I want to see the ending (I read the novel many, many years ago). Meanwhile I might start with Tale of Rose.

Lost You Forever producers would be wise to release season 2 in the summer... Gives people a chance to rewatch season 1 and creates nostalgia for last year... I'll probably start rewatching season 1 this weekend since it's likely we'll see season 2 by 15 July.... Good stuff.

I'm done watching The Double.Wang Xingyu and Wu Jin Yan are perfect chemistry also they are great in this drama.Zeng Ke Lang,Pan You Cheng,Wang Le Fu and Ai Mi as Tong.also great in this drama,the character of the Emperor,the body guard of the lead actor and the maid of the lead actress i like them all they are also great.But about the ending is something missing is not clear if Wang Xingyu is dead or alive for me it ends with cliff hanger.Super Thanks Marcus for the reliable updates.

I have noticed lately that there have been more costumes dramas than modern and I wish they would have more modern coming out.
I can't wait for "Ski into Love" cuz I love Esther Yu and it looks like her pairing with Lin Yi has chemistry. As for "Tale of Rose", I hate that Lin Yi's part was so short and that the ending was left so open They could have such a cute relationship, maybe one to last Rose for a while or maybe even forever in Drama World. sigh.... Speaking of "Tale of Rose", I can see it being 7.1, but it will probably hit higher after more viewers watch it. My score personally is 8.5.
Can't wait for "Sniper Butterfly" since it's an age-gap drama. In this one though, Michelle Chen barely looks out of her 20s herself, so the age-gap will be hard to swallow. Oh well, I'm all for it anyway. ha
Hearing how Wu Jin Yan was almost drummed out of getting any roles, just brings to light the stark brutality of the entertainment industry in China. How can fans be so fickle towards their favorite actor as to drop them if they don't see them in back-to-back dramas? For instance, Zhao Lusi has slowed down but I don't snub her because of that. As a matter of fact, 1. I don't think it's entirely healthy to constantly be filming for months and months... 2. Sometimes an actor will have 2 dramas at the same time on and it confuses old people like me when we are watching both. I don't remember who is who and what drama is what, when I go back and forth for at least 2 minutes into the drama. sheesh LOL I saw that cute and sweet video of Wang Xingyue, yesterday and he was so completely opposite than the stern and scary Duke Su, that I had to take a second look at him to make sure that it was the same person. lol Anyway, I can't imagine how that fan felt when he/she heard and saw this. I would add, Marcus, that they felt thrilled as well as touched.

I’ve read that the story will be very different and the only similarities are the illnesses of the leads. Apparently the production team only bought the rights to avoid plagiarism issues.

When actors don’t take breaks to relax,recharge, and regroup and wait for roles that will suit them and/ or help them to grow in their acting abilities, they take any scripts and crap that comes along. In my opinion this can be a major disadvantage to the fans,because as an avid Chinese drama fan, I’ve had to stop watching many dramas after a few episodes that were too disappointing for many reasons. And these dramas had my favorite male and female leads.😮
Do you know if Wu Jin Yan has any other projects after this one? I know she filmed kill me love me but I have not seen or heard about anything else.

How come all the episodes of the double are not uploaded in CZcams
Don't know; did not watch it there. Also, not sure CZcams will have the necessary ep.40.5 (about 5 minutes that are rather necessary).
CZcams usually has the 'snail' version of release schedule, usually 1 episode a day, and sometimes have to wait for subtitles.
@@cmaven4762 there's that too... and sometimes on some channels the machine translation is better turned off. Therefore, it is better to have several options, not that I know them all, but at least now, I don't have to be kept hanging if it's aired somewhere, when I get impatient. But I'm not even the swiftest to complete, some champions are quicker: one explained a "technique" to do that, but I prefer the old fashioned not skipping, and using credits to breathe and stretch! I even re watch some parts when I liked enough.
I am following the drama Tale of Rose. I think the rating cud be a bit higher. 7.5 shud be OK. It is a good watch. All actors in the drama have beautifully acted that I did not feel I am watching the drama but i am part of Rose's life journey. Crystal Liu is an amazing actress. Her chemistry with all male protagonist is awesome. Her brother's role played by Tong Di Wei is heart felt. Su's character is also heart wrenching. I was reluctant to watch it as I thought the plot cud be same but I am glad I did. Last but not the least.. direction absolutely top notch. Without it the actors cud not have been able to give their best. Will highlight just one more, dresses worn by crystal Liu are rocking. She really carries them well
They are not maschines - mental health is important ! Money is important so their lives !
The tale of rose is a masterpiece, 7.1 douban rating is too low. I would rate it 8.5. Liu Yifei outdid herself with this role, what a striking story of the loves across a woman's life span, with a gorgeous and talented actress.

Too low for the tale of rose
Who would be crazy enough to watch another series of the same girl wearing the same wig, a very unflattering wig that nearly fell off at one point showing such a floppy composition for an ancient costume coming from a big production. What kind of vampire that has a perfectly combed non messed pulled back hairdo 99% of the time when he had to move his head around fighting and sucking off blood? Aren't people tired of Winnie the Pool seeded child actress and traffic idols?
They've got it big because the Chinese netizen are more comfortable with average looking girls or ok looking guy but below average acting skills traffic idol kind of guys (or as long as a bromance is working well smh)
Beautiful tall girls with promising acting skills like Wang Churen, Zhang zhishang got ignored - or even got picked on to get criticized for some tiny, nothing burger guesture).
