That's great! I love the customization you do on these bikes. You are a good problem solver!
Thanks and someday if I keep going like this I might actually know what I'm doing 🙂
Added the upgrades here with a new thicker padded seat as well and am much happier with the comfort level which is important to me as a heavier 240lb and older 70 year old guy with arthritis and a hip replacement. I want to max out the comfort. Thinking of the padded tire inserts and a suspension seat post to make an even softer smoother ride. Thanks for the know-how info.
Thx for sharing this info, I purchased the Bike Stem and the Stem Rizer, fit perfectly. I'm a tall guy and this was the perfect height for me
I did the same changes - as you did. much much better ride positions. I changed out the rear shock as well. I am a 260lb guy and I could nit get much spring out of the original shock. loving my bike now.
I have a front brake problem- squeaks.
Rob.
Just bought this bike. I love it. 30 mph top speed with pedal assist. No complaints.
Just received my new Adventurer. It came ahead of schedule & arrived without damage. The only problem I had was the handlebar stem wouldn't tighten. On the fork enough to not slip. I replaced the stem with an adjustable stem. That fixed the problem and gave me a more comfortable riding position. I've only put about 5 miles on so far, but it feels good. This is my second fat tire ebike and I ride mostly trails in SE Michigan. This was a nice upgrade for me.
The handlebar mod is perfect - I used the handlebar, riser and stem as you suggested in your list. Thank you!
Glad it worked for you!!
@@CitizenCycle925 on your beecool bike did you make the changes to give it a little more speed and power? Make it into a pas 9 and a few other changes?
Suspensión would be nice on my Rad wagon. Upgrades are fun,& easy and usually affordable.
I hope you at least got yourself a suspension seat post...
This is my favorite kind of videos…..great job! Hope to seen more mods to this Bee Cool.
did you order one Dan?
@@CitizenCycle925 yes, I ordered a few days ago.
nice upgrade, sweet bike!
I have a Himiway Escape and it also has a very stiff rear shock. I have solved the problem by fabricating a new anchor point for the upper part of the shock and installing a new adjustable shock, what a difference!
nice! yes the suspension on the escape is pretty stiff too and i didn't see any adjustment.
I just turned over 1200 miles in 6 months on my beecool adventurer. And yes have had great adventures.
Nice review and i would like to add comment. I commute to and from work daily 8 miles round trip. My average speed is 22-23 mph. Top end is 26. I do run lower pressure tires for comfort and traction. With my short trips i have yet to drop the battery level more than 2 bars. That small led headlight projects super bright i give it a both thumbs up! and it has a definative top cutoff line so it can be adjusted as to not blind traffic albeit wimpy taillight and blinkers. The frame itself is sturdy and super clean welds. The offset battery does not detract from comfort nor performace. The seat is comfortable and easily adjustable. The suspension has serious issues however front forks are not stable for side to side flex along with the rear suspension. Together the whole bike tends to wobble side to side dangerously under certain conditions to a concerning level. The rear shock is not adjustable and is set for what seems to be 1000lbs. I have yet managed to compress the rear suspension even 1mm as if rear suspension is non existent. Your rear rack appears to have been bent in shipment. Mine was straight. The wimpy frame of the rack severed just above both upper mounting bolts and also adds to bike wobble with any weight upon it. As for mis- aligned fenders easy fix is to bend the supporting rods along the side to a position that aligns the fender properly. My kickstand was severed at the pivot bolt, was unrepairable, and caused extreme difficulty in parking the bike. Beecool however expediently replaced it under warranty. They only asked for pictures of the broken part. Kudos beecool! Yes walk mode is basically run mode. Pedal assist has a consistant delay of 2 seconds of pedaling before engagement but ceases power quickly (under 1/2 sec) after ceasing pedaling. Shimano shifter is easy to control however tends to misalign and starts jumping gear position between 4th and 5th gear. Horn is behind the light but tends to dampen output level after soaking. 21amp hour battery is consistantly powerful. However had a code 6 error once and complete power loss condition. Pedalling strictly manually is a beast kind of like pedalling a truck. This bike is completely impractical as a pedal bike. Back to error code issue... after pedaling the beast the last mile home i completely exposed all the wiring to find connections that were insulated primitively with electrical tape. This was not the problem. So i opened the battery removed the connector and found an underpowered fuse of 30 amps had not blown but the legs of the fuse had overheated and melted the fuse housing to the point of failure. I replaced the fuse housing and with the proper 45 amp fuse had no further issue. Finely stitched and ergonomically formed handgrips give the bike good comfortable control. Brakes have power cutoff switch practical but when frozen in cold temperatures tends to continue cutting off power after applying the brakes. The hydraulic disc brakes are a plus for easy positive braking. The rear caliper bracket however is misaligned and positions pads with only 1/2 contact to the disc. The only remedy is to grind down the caliper mount to a level that lines the pads with the disc. This causes excessive wear using only 1/2 the pad. This bike has good low end torque for its rear hub 750 watt motor. The display has shown up to 960 watt output on numerous occasions. As for pedal assist i found it very useful for automatically cruising at different set speeds almost like cruise control. When i am not in a hurry but just want to cruise relaxed i noticed extreme power usage savings at between 200-300watts in 3rd gear still moving along at 15mph. With level 1 i can creep along trails at 5mph from 50 to 150w usage similar speed of "walk (run) mode". I am adding weatherproof ammo boxes as rear saddlebags one of which will hold my two 10amp aftermarket lion batteries switched through a 1,2,both switch. As for the wimpy blinkers i will draw from those circuits two sided led blinkers off the end of the handlebars for better vision. You can even install a beeper on the blinker circuit for audible confirmation. I pull a bike trailer for my 2 chihuahuas everywhere, i have a 20a 48v-12v buck converter to power a heated blanket inside the trailer for the dogs 🐕 🐕. I have considered placing a heated wrap around the battery for long trips in subzero weather. Blinkers, brake, and running lights will also be installed on the bike trailer thru a waterproof multi connector. I have 2 150watt bluetooth self powered speakers with subwoofers mounted on right and left of the rack which operate on right and left channel respectively to which music can be heard clearly at 1/2 mile with a phone mount on the handle bars. The display has a hidden usb power point to charge your phone while power is on. I bought a second 21a battery from beecool for $600 and a 30a charger for faster charging. I.e. complete charge in around 2 hours instead of 6 hours with the supplied 20a charger. Note: tips to aid in extending battery life, allow the battery to 'rest' for an hour before charging and leave the battery partially discharged when not in use. My 2nd battery fits perfectly for storage in the bike trailer when needed. For my offgrid home power system i just got 8-300w solar panels (2400w) thru a 60a solar controller for quick efficient charging of the bike from the sun 🌞. Overall this bike has changed my life, has brought me great pleasure, saves me all the expense of owning/operating and fuelling a vehicle, and connected me with nature in a more intimate level. I have ceased driving completely and am using this bike all year in all but deep snow weather conditions. I keep the bike in a heated environment in winter to avoid freezing cables, electronic components and most importantly lion batterys. I am confident on ice and run full speed. I am looking into studded winter tires and tube protectors for safety and durability. Overall for the price and manageable issues this bike is worth the value but would not buy this model again because of the incurable suspension wobble condition. I would recommend a bike with no rear suspension, a seat with suspension, and a full length front fork that affixes above and below fork tube.
Hope this detail helps - enjoy 😉
Great job man really appreciate the video
BC Adventurer owner here. I agree I hate how far it makes you lean forward. Trying to decide on adjustable bike stem or a riser bar like yours. I'm stuck. I already changed the shock too
I’d love to see you take this to the next level an upgrade one of your fat bikes with name brand parts, like a Rock Shox Bluto front fork
🐍Love ❤ the orange 🍊 color. 😍
The orange and black really go well together
I was trying to upgrade my Himiway cruiser like your radmonster, all wheel drive and bought my front wheel kit from ebikeling. Just letting you know I will never spend another dime on anything from them.
Really fast shipping received my kit and battery ($856+)within 3 days . Sunday started putting my kit together and found a controller wire that had the insulation stripped on one side so I taped it and continued
with the kit. I had the wheel and everything all assembled now for plugging all the wires together. Everything was plugged until I got down to the, controller to battery connection which was nowhere to be found, keep in mind I bought the kit and battery both from ebikeling . Well that ended the rest of working on the kit . I still had to go to the store to pick up dinner and I wasn't about to switch the front wheel back out just to run about 8 blocks away ,so I went ahead and rode it as is and thought it would be fine since I was only using my rear hub motor . What another suprise I found when the front wheel didn't want to spin freely . Normally my Himi will run 26 - 27 mph but with this wheel on , top speed was only 11 - 12 mph . Coundn't wait to call the company Monday morning with all the issues I was having. They open at 9 am and I was on the phone for 2 hrs off and on because their answering service comes on tells you vm is full then tells you to press 5 so your # will be sent to someone . I went ahead and switched my wheel back cause there was no way I was ridding it like that again and went to run an errand , wouldn't you know that they had called me back and left me another # to call for tech support in that little window . Soon as I got back home I called the new number and I'll be damned it did exactally the same thing said vm was full and to press 5 to send my # to someone, By this time I'm pissed , spending almost $900 and can't get ahold of anyone , so I email them again which I forgot to mention that I had emailed them Sunday night with a description of all my issues and finally received an email at the end of day asking me to explain my power issues , the error codes , if the display worked . So clearly they never read any of my emails because I told them that I had no power, they had never sent me a connector for battery to controller . This was my final straw so I went to the bank and had them get my money back and can you believe I still haven't heard from them .
So beware of ebikeling .
Wow, sorry to hear you had so many issues, that is a real buzz kill. Mine went together pretty flawlessly. I had to do some connection soldering because I reused my original rad battery but everything else was fine. I'm really surprised the front wheel wasn't free spinning.. sounds like you may have got a dud kit. Hope you get your money back
I've installed 200mm DNM shock on my Explorer and it seems to be too long. I had to loosen up coil spring completely and compress the shock to make it fit. I still have to test the bike on various surfaces to see if this setup will be sustainable. BTW replace both bushings. Top bushing that comes with the shock is 50mm and it does not have to be cut. Bottom one that came with shock needs to be cut to length. Dremel or metal saw will do the job. Also, top spacers will fit. I've used original bottom spacers after bushing was cut to size. I believe that Bee Cool spec for this shock is inaccurate. It is 180mm eye to eye, not travel. Travel of stock shock is probably around 30mm.
I bought the Adventure I'm still waiting for it to arrive, I'm getting more excited by the day. I'm 6' 3 I think that I will need the goose neck extension.
A real cool visual upgrade is to paint the fender braces black, the fenders will look they are just floating!
Never thought of that one 🙂
You should design ebikes or have ebike companies consult with you first! Keep up the great reviews.
That would be so much fun if I could partner with a company and design my own model
@@CitizenCycle925 I think BeeCool is Is going to be that company.
I ordered mine 2 days ago and the Orange one that I ordered is as backward to the end of March so they must be selling them. Thanks for the videos ! I love them. I think for such a cheap price by doing the upgrades like you've done you've really got a great bike after that.
hope you get it quick, good luck customizing :)
It takes forever to get stateside. My fiance ordered the same during black friday and it took until mid January to get here but only about 4 days to ship once it got to port.
@@shootthechit I have not. Should be Thursday
@@shootthechit I got it last Tuesday. Came with only a few scratches. I finished putting new pedals, some brake grips, chain stay protector. I have new bars and waiting on the new hand grips. I also put a 180mm rotor on the front for better stopping power. I have a new proper mountain bike coming in (not electric) so I will not lo the forks and rear shock for a while since I need to spend some money on the new bike when I get it next week.
I got one last November and I added the stem that beecool now has on the website that is shorter and it had an adjustment to bring the handle bars closer to me but I weigh more than you do so the rear suspension shock works ok but I might try the one you replaced it with
I watched your videos and I really enjoyed them. I have a BeeCool Adventure and has modified it almost like the BeeCool Explore you have. I've purchase the same rear shock you use and I like it. Also the stem raised with the BeeCool handlebar raised they have in their website........yes it's pretty high but all very comfortable to ride. I like my soft front fork, after seeing your video on replacing it with front air shocks, I think I'll skip. I bought my BeeCool after seeing your video (around Dec 2021) you where my deciding factor. I admit it lacks a bit on power and speed, but for the price it's just right. I do enjoy my bike, the ride and the look does get some attention from others. I'm looking forward to more of your videos........
Can't you just up the speed by changing the settings I've seen people do it and get it up to 28 plus miles per hour on the Throttle
@@tsharpton1 I've gone in the settings and try to change the speed but it's already at its highest. It just doesn't go past 22mph. I'm wondering if I can change the rear hub motor insides with a barang 705w, does anyone know if the BeeCool (Adventure/Explorer) bikes rear hub size in diameter the same as Bafang 750w?
@@TV-AA3TV My Adventurer seems to get about 26-27 mph without peddle assist on
@@TonyEden glad to know your BeeCool Adventure can go that fast, but the best my can do is 23 on a full charge. It's a strong frame bike with inexpensive components. Maybe in the short future I'll change it to a Bafang 750w.
I've also used Citizen ad my deciding factor. I sometimes cruised 26-27 mph, but today had a nasty headwind in which kept me at a meager 22-23. My tires are inflated and I'm a heavier rider but it just seems that there must be an extra 5mph left, any suggestions? I did play with Onw of the settings, just trying to avoid clipping wires or tricking the speed sensor. I've also never seen it going higher than 940 watts on max load. Anyone get more than 1k ? Thanks, Kosmo
Ordering An Adventure Today!😊👍
Nice! I wish you a speedy delivery 😁
Have had mine a year , upgraded suspension and stem and handle bars , I strictly do off road , great bike real shock sucks upgrade to 7-1/2 coil spring
I'd like to see a hub motor upgrade & maybe controller (like you did with the Radrunner I think). This bike has a lot of potential with the long range and huge battery. I just bought a green Adventurer which is same bike for the most part.
i dont know of any plug and play options at this time for the Bee Explorer :(
Great reviews and upgrades! My Adventurer is due to be delivered today! (12/17/21)
Sweet Hope you enjoy it!
@@CitizenCycle925 FedEx just delivered. I'll be assembling in the morning!
@@tonyel99 Don't forget to charge the battery tonight so you're ready to go once assembled
When did you order yours? I'm still waiting for mine that I ordered 11/12/21.
@@OurGreedyCorruptGovt I ordered them on 11/29. The one that was delivered was the Black Adventurer, my wife's White Explorer is listed to ship end of January.
great video....do you know if the handlebar mods will work with a Bee Cool adventure?
Hey I watch all your reviews. You do a wonderful job. Thank you. In your riding experience have you seen bee cool get anywhere close to peaking at or over 1000w 850 all I've seen from other reviews
I have not seen it hit 1000, The one I have will get into the low 800s
I'm an NC rider as well and recently bought this ebike. I love pretty much everything about it so far but I agree the handlebar position would be better with a more upright setup. (I will be doing the handlebar upgrade you show in this video)
I have been unable so far to find the BeeCool set up for the SW900 display/control.
When I went into set up I found the tire size was wrong with 28" set from the factory vs the 26" that actually comes with the ebike.
If you have any suggestions or a better relationship with the BeeCool representatives for getting the actual factory set up for the SW900 that would be nice to know.
Additionally, your review on the BeeCool Pathfinder Step-thru showed a color screen. I was wondering if that is an option as an upgrade vs the SW900 display.
Thanks for all you do with the reviews I am a subscriber and always refer to your videos for information/education.
I’m looking at the Explorer or Adventurer, there’s only a few measurements that are different: frame size, standover bar height and max size height. Trying to decided which one to choose. ( but I love the orange)
I'm 5' 8 with a 30" Inseam So I ordered the Explorer after asking lots of other Explorer owners that have a very similar insane the adventure would be too tall for me
I upgraded my rear shock I put the 7-1/2 on what a better ride also upgrade handle bars , looking to upgrade forks next
Which model shock did you go with?
How about the front shoks that bottom out?
I want to add a baby trailer hookup. BeeCool says to attach it on left side of rear hub. I'd like to get close ups of that assembly. What do you think?
I got the Orange one
I’d consider the handlebar mods on my soon to arrive Explorer. But I’m a bit worried about removing and reinstalling the grips and the rest of the stuff onto a new bar. Is it difficult or does everything come off and slide in to the new bar easily? Would love a tutorial on how to do this. Find your videos well done and very helpful. Thanks.
I wish I could mount a front rack. It has all the specs I'm looking for. So few bikes have mounting holes on the up-tube.
there is surely some aftermarket front rack that you could use. i have see ones the mount to the front fork and axel. not sure how good they would look though.
Do you have a list of parts you used to swap out? Thanks
i was thinking about getting rox shox for front and rear but the total cost more than the bike itself, so I decided to list mines for sale
There is a pretty decent rear shock for $100 and an air front fork for under $150 that makes a huge difference over stock.
These mods are detailed on the 900 member BeeCool Owners Group on Facebook.
Did you take off the original spacer when you added the riser or leave it on? Do you do any how to install tutorial videos?
When swapping out your handlebar set up, what are the headset spacers for?
Where can I buy those upgrade you are showing.
Regarding your BeCool Explorer update video, I Noticed that the rear suspension shock you linked via Amazon, is unavailable and likely will not be restocked. What suggestion do you have in place of the DNM 2 shock?
Awesome Upgrades!
I'm pleased with them 😁
Where did you purchase the rear shock. Handle bars Thanks
Tesla’s 3-6-9 and Vortex Math: Is this really the key to the universe?
It seems most of these "full suspension" ebikes in this price range have rear shocks that are junk with very limited travel, can't be adjusted and do almost nothing. Don't understand the point in making a bike frame with rear suspension if the shock they include makes the rear suspension almost useless? I don't know. Thanks for the tip on the better shock!
Thanks for the updates on the shock. Other more expensive shocks are reviewed on the 900 member BeeCool Bikes Owners Group on Facebook.
When are you replacing the grips?
The front fork is the next part to upgrade.
@CitizenCycles have your wife sit on the Explorer again as that shorter shock has lowered the seat height. Maybe she can ride it now?
I'll probably leave the grips for now, and leave the front forks for now although they could be better. I'm not sure the shock made much of a difference for ride height. 1/2 in isnt going to make her feel comfortable on it
I would think it was more like 1" lower not 1/2"
But it is a big and long ebike besides the 78lbs
The $100 air shock is a lot better than the $55 shock you used.
What are you going to do with the forks? I bottom mine out constantly. I am going to make some spacers to put more pee-load on the springs.
Can you share a link to the 7.5 inch shock please. The 6.5 inch shock is not available on amazon currently. I looking for softer shock and won't run into the seat post. Thank you
Can I add Cruiser Style Handlebars????
Do you think the adjustable handlebar stem on the Bee Cool website (upgrading parts) would raise up the handlebar as high as the one you used?
I looked at that 1 and I don't think it'll raise it up as far as his did.
I put the adjustable one beecool sells raised it up 3inches and new handle bars , way better
Goose neck?
Great video. What was the width of the bushings that were cut for the shock mount? Thx
Approximately 15 mm or just a bit under 5/8 of an inch
I ordered this shock (6.5), cut bushing to 15mm and it installed easily. Gotta say this shock is 100% better then stock. Completely soaks up light trail junk and floats along. Dropped psi in tires to 13. Now to figure out an upgrade on the fork.
Thanks, I’ve been researching this for my Bee Cool Explorer, that I received last week. Have you had an issue where the key won’t lock the power without removing the battery?
I don't think you can shut the power off with the key if the battery is in
The key only locks the battery to the frame.
You can not turn tje battery off.
Okay, thanks, the instructions weren’t clear on that. I’m really happy with it so far. Your review was a big help.
@@markphelps9856 Glad to hear you're liking the bike that you found the overview video helpful
My best mod so far: I've moved shifter to the left side of handlebar and Mode buttons to the right. This way I can shift and maintain precise throttle application at the same time. The only down side (which it does not bother me) is, shifter dial is pointing down and it is not visible to me.
Have you ridden the Bee Cool Challenger yet? Online it appears attractive as so many things do, but I would like to know your thoughts. How does it match up to the Ariel bikes?
Nobody will have a Challenger until next year

Have ebikes become a scam? I have watched several you tube reviews on ebikes and they all have wonderful things to say about the bikes. Then i go to the facebook page and see many, many complaints. Most are about the company not answering the phone or emails about a problem. Many wondering where is their ebike. Are these companies sending you one quality and their customers another? I emailed one of these companies about all the complaints seen on their facebook page, and the very next day all complaints were wiped.
I asked Bee Cool what size headset my Adventurer has because I wanted to replace it... They said they didn't know what a headset was and after many emails they randomly came up with 10mm and sent me a link to this video. They have no clue, or are vindictive. This is just a friendly warning if your thinking about buying a Bee Cool bike, support will be zero. Still waiting 3 weeks for replacement front brakes that shipped broken. Stay away from this company.
