That LFA though... 4.8L V10! The noise it makes is really unbelievable thanks to it being naturally aspirated.
You also have to remember the exhaust is tuned by yamaha to give it a nicer engine note

Man, just seeing this race makes me realise how much has changed in the last 7 years in terms of performance cars. Yet, the GT-R is still alive and kicking, kudos to that. But it wouldn't stand a chance to todays elite of sportscars/supercars. Just insane how big the rate of progress is these days.
2020 my guy, but I agree, life was much simpler, I missed that.
They had to pick up their game because when the 2013 GTR was released.
Suddenly alot of them started breaking into the 10sec 1/4 mile mark.
It took at least 5 year's for the rest of it's rival's to catch up.

A lot of things changed over the years. Today every casual sports car is doing 10 second quarter runs... Cars like porsche 911 turbo s can go in to 9 seconds...

GT-R smokes the cars 100k more expensive than it is, nothing new then. Best value for money ever!
It would wreck the gtr if it was in a sticky drag strip but gtr would spank it if it was in an airport like in here.
jeFF Fury not exactly “smokes”, gets a better launch on a bad runway surface that’s about it.. 458 still trapped 4mph higher and you could see it catching up quickly. It’s quicker in a straight line the GTR just launches better due to being AWD

Back then, it was. Now you can buy stuff like a Corvette Z06/Z07 ($90K), Camaro ZL1 ($63K, a 71K with 1LE track performance package), which offers a manual transmission, out-traps the GT-R is the 1/4 mile, and smokes it on the track. Also the previous Z06 was also cheaper with better performance

The GTR wouldn't keep the lead much longer if they continued for a few more seconds. Notice it was going only 121 at the finish line when the next 3 cars were going near 125 mph.

The 2014 Nissan gtr nismo with the track pack can get from 0-62 in less than 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 198. it is the third fastest road car round the nurbogring.

We will only know the true numbers when it actually comes out.... Too many rumors about Nissan tuning and modifying the car to make it faster around the ring. Wait till it comes out first before screaming its numbers. We don't know yet!
ToxicReaper7 And it could be attributed to Nissan tuning their R33 (besides fine-tuning), with cambers and stuff. Hopefully they did not do that again (not counting the Nurburgring Attack Package, said to be used in the GT-R that measured it's time in Nurburgring.)

The GTR is a phenomenal car. Amazing how this V6 has become the gold standard for drag racing.
Give the race another couple of miles and the results will be very different.

BMW is seriously underrepresented in this race...putting an entry level car up against super cars? If they had put in an M3 or M5, which are equitable models to the others, the competition would have been much steeper.

Loved both R8 and LFA's V10 engine sounds.
Back then, people were so shocked to know the winner is Nissan GT-R.
They thought the winner would have been Ferrari 458 or Audi R8 GT or Mercedes SLS AMG or Lexus LFA, all of which are supercars and had more power than the GT-R.
This video is also the one which skyrocketed the GT-R's popularity as supercars killer.

tiagop198 I am not very familiar whit GT-R's but it looks to me like the nismo has more wing at the back and more drag from it. I am to lazy to check out the difference between a regular gtr and a nismo one.
Why is everyone bitching about the fact the GTR won? You have to deal with it, the GTR is a very fast car when it comes to acceleration. And no, I'm not a GTR fanboy, I like all kinds of cars. :)

I Bugatti Veyron I Ikr ! And bro it is my ultimate dreamcar ! The LFA is a limited masterpiece which showcases what toyota is actually capable of on supercar territory. The LFA might not be faster but it has a combo of Pure elegance , beauty and sound that the GTR will not have. I own a GTR at this moment though

Not always,since the acceleration of the 458 Italia is a little slower,had they gone for a few more seconds and the Ferrari would have won.The 458 has great top speed,while the GTR has a supercharger and an intake manifold putting it at around maybe 700-950 horsepower.If those were disabled from the GTR,then the Ferrari would easily triumph.By the way I love all cars,and this was a good race.Also I might not have gotten everything down I'm only 10.

I remember watching this years and years ago.
The 458 Italia was catching up to the GT-R anyway. Nissan GT-R 121 MPH , Ferrari 458 Italia 125 MPH. The 458 Italia would have won if it have a better start or launch, and of course the driver! So yeah the 458 Italia is actually faster. But it will still be a close race between those two.

Motortrend launches the gtr really bad. I've gotten a 10.8 with a 2017 gtr, and a 10.5 with a 2017 gtr nismo.

This race is fantastic, I can't believe that the magnificent LFA had both beaten the Porsche GT3 and the Corvette Z06. It was moving fast!

Why does everyone keep saying GT-R is so good, yes, it's fast off the line but there are so many faster and more interesting cars MT could have chosen, I am sure they just wanted the GT-R to win.
Because it is good, it holds the third fastest time at the Nurboring for a road car, and holds tons of other records over cars that cost way more than it.
The GT-R is one of the best cars ever made, its not exotic, but it rapes almost every car it goes up against.

Wrong, Nissan GT-R is pretty different to Nissan Skyline GT-R, this last one was his real car.

Really? Compare it's price to the rest of the gang. Now if a GT500, or Super Snake, were to be introduced the results would be much different.
Schön the gt500 and the supersnake wouldn't be able to get there power down from the start, they would just spin there wheels all the way, that's the reason they cost so much less they arnt made as well as the rest there just powerful with cheap shit suspension, chassis, breaks and everything else, that's all American cars are just overpowered lumps of metal
Enormous torque will definitely spin wheels, it will also make quick work of lesser cars.

I will never understand that after spending so much money time and effort to make this race happen, why do they do only a 1/4 mile race and not a 1 mile or even 1/2 mile race. These are supercars and they don't even let them stretch their legs properly. Instead we get a 1/4 mile drag race with a boat load of editing to make it last longer on video. Shame really.
I think that you truly want a longer race because you feel like the GTR's launch control edge would be neutralized once the other cars have had a chance to spool up properly. I feel the same way.
