He's following Baelins Route
This comment should be pinned, good one!
Mornin'! Nice day for phone wanderin', ain't it? Uh huh!
I thought he'd end up in Honeywood for a second when I saw that familiar path.
Still the best ever video these guys have made.
Insert Naruto Run ;) ♥️
If he takes one more step, it'll be the furthest away from Tech Town he's ever phone wandered.
Remember what Bilbo used to say: ‘it’s a dangerous business taking a phone call while wandering out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep an eye on where you’re phone wandering - there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to’
Ahh yes, classic bilbo
@@VivaLaDirtLeague
Missed opportunity to make him wander into skycraft!
If he tries to get on a boat, it will mysteriously sink because the twist is:Rowan and his colleagues are living a Truman Show like island where they are in a reality show about the tech store. These skits are just the highlights. They aren’t allowed out of the island as everyone including Romans work wife are actors trying to keep them in the island. Pretty scary stuff.
New Zealand is that island
I love Alan's tendency throughout the series to just stop and observe Rowan like he's an exhibit at the zoo.
the only thing wrong here is the ambiguity about whether he is or isn't, because he absolutely is
@@Marineisme is observing, or is observing thasomething that belongs in a zoo?
Isn’t Rowan one
I mean.... he is 🤣
I like that Rowan isn't even mad at Adam, just confused and trying to figure out the way back 😂
I was hoping he was gonna walk through honeywood, past gregg and bodger
That would have been an epic cameo. XD
Lol yeah he'd wandered so far he'd entered the game dimension... brilliant.
I was thinking the same thing
Me too.
"Give us your phone, or we'll mug ya!"
*Rowan ignores them and keeps phone wandering*
The reception on that front desk phone is World class.
Rowan probably faking the call to get a day off
Imagine the extra delay on that call the further he got from the receiver... Dude was having a conversation with a guy minutes in the past.
Probably, it looks more like a DECT phone or Wifi IP, not GSM, so he should be out of range pretty soon.
Makes me want to get a land line again.
haha true, i lose connection about 20 meters away from the company building xD
I want that cordless
aww that "I don't know." was so heartfelt.
oh my gosh is so lovely to see New Zealand, must be amazing to have such wonderful areas to visit. I love that Adam was scared of Rowan see him but left nowhere to hide :)
I live in the South island, it's really nice here - even just out of town there's lots of amazing hikes and walking tracks to do
Glad I knew exactly where this was, it's not very far from Auckland! (About 40/50m drive)
Right?? So happy they included that beautiful scenery into one of their skits.
@Crow-Fly You should watch Aurimas Valujavicius. He is cycling New Zealand on a bike right now. He is Lithuanian endurance sportsman.
The new gubbermint is going to destroy the country
Boromir: One does not simply walk into Mordor....
Rowan wandering while on the phone:
That was west of Auckland. He needs to walk south to get Mordor. Maybe next week.
Rowan: "Don't hold my phone"
@@nanach6276 "Hold the phone!" "Hold the phone!" "Hold thone!" "Holdone!" "Hodon"...
ok this one made me laugh
That is such a Boromir thing to say
Fortunately, if they really get lost, they have a phone with a really good connection to call for help.
But then Rowan will start phone wandering while calling for help, and then he will be in yet another place when people get to his reported location.
@@mingyi456 then Adam should make the call lol
@@ahmedshaltout4992 Pretty sure Rowan wouldn't allow him to take charge unfortunately.
But by the time the search team gets to where they were, they'll have wandered somewhere else
... with a really poor battery at that point...
He wandered onto the table...missed opportunity to have him wander onto the ceiling (standing upside-down) before making his trek, proving definitively that Rowan + phone wandering defies all logic. But Adam at the end is just perfect.
my favorite part was when the phone went from a handheld to an Iphone.. even the original phone went for a wander
From the creators of Baelin's Route. Comes the long awaited sequel:
Rowan's Route!
not sequel but prequel, Rowan's wandering got so famous he was the inspiration for Baelin
It runs in the family...
Nice day for phone wanderin' innit? Huh hah!
This is why I lock my door. To stop myself accidentally phone wandering, and to stop a phone wandering Rowan from getting in.
Too bad jammers are illegal, would be an easy solution
The only way to stop a bad phone wandering Rowan is a good phone wandering Rowan with a Gold Shirt.
The chance of Rowan wandering into your house is low, but never zero.
This comment thread is everything 😂😂😂
Pay cuts all around for not making sure the manager is free of danger while fulfilling his manager duties
Maybe a little hyperbolic, but It must be impossible to wake up every day in New Zealad and be sad, it truly is paradise.
I went there 20yrs ago and I have never felt so at peace, the lanscapes are breathtakingly beautiful and the people are so hospitable.
I like the UK, it's my ancestral home, but I've never felt more at home than in New Zealand.
One of the biggest honors in my life was to visit an indigenous Māori cultural arts centre, their art is so full of history and meaning, really moving to see.
Economy isn't the greatest though. My kiwi wife is very happy to live in Europe now.
I constantly suggest to move to Northland but she always says nah
I returned from NZ nearly three monts ago after spending a wonderful month there... and boy, oh boy, I want back to NZ so dearly... but I am honestly interested where the last part of the skit was shot... looked a bit like the Dunedin surroundings to me, but it could have been basically anywhere :-).
@@potvoramedia I'm scouring the comments to see if anyone has identified it, but it looks like the beaches out West Auckland. I know the guys do some filming in those areas,* but I don't know the locations well enough myself to recognise it.
*I met Rhiannon (who plays the shop keepers wife in Epic NPC Man) at the airport once, and she commented that the guys have had to move filming further and further out of town as they get recognised too much now at central locations. 🙂
@@bevanfindlay I know they are in Auckland (and I was thinking trying to find their set for a split of a second when I was there), so South Island was a very long shot as it would be pretty inefficient to travel that far, yet it felt like Sandfly Beach down there :-). On the other hand, Baelin's route was (I think) shot on both islands so South Island still might be a chance :-). Anyway, thanks for the insight on their shooting locations. I am a videographer myself and I just admire these guys...🙏🏼
@@potvoramedia Yes, they did include a bunch of South Island locations for Baelin's Route, but that also had a higher budget than anything else they've done. I saw a couple of comments elsewhere that reckon the location is Piha (a beach in West Auckland). I thought it might have been there, but Piha has a couple of unique features that I didn't see, so they would have been facing away from those.
New Zealand is such a beautiful country. The scenery is unmatched
yeah right? I would love to live there.
And this isn't even the one of the two main islands with the best scenery. The South is the best :)
@@Hellknight27 which area is this? I though maybe Piha at first but I'm unsure
It's also home to the world's largest and only flightless parrot, the Kakapo.
I used to hike the Kalalau trail in Kauai, Hawaii and the scenery there looks very similar, it reminded me of it.
That was a rather enjoyable tour of North Auckland. 😊
Glad to show you some sights 😅
@@VivaLaDirtLeague
Also thanks!
Visited NZ in March and was not able to make „everything North of Auckland“. Running out of time. 😅
Ending in a trip to Piha out west. That'd be a heck of a walk.
Superb coverage up there anyway

Just give him an old style phone with cable. Problem solved!
he' would just turn it into a wireless and then make alan or IT guy fix his broken PoS phone.
or walk in circles and by the end he thinks someone playing joke on him because hes alone, bound and helpless in the back of the store.
I can promise you that he would find a way to stretch it to lengths you wouldn't believe... because I used to.
Two cans, one string
Just reminds me of an old mobile company sketch/add, where a small province dude who doesn't yet have a cell, drives around on his moped with a long ass extension cable for his landline.
I remember people in the 80s with 40 foot cords so they could do this.
I love that this is a situation where Rowan understands it's no one else's fault but his own and actually accepts it instead of trying to punish Adam or anyone else.
From the sign on the desk, the whole quote: "The customer is always right in matters of taste". No guarantee in any other regard.
Wait, no reprimand for Adam for not being at work, Rowan not giving Adam a paycut, he really is turning into a good manager
That's because anything within a 50 foot radius of the manager is "at work".
Manager AoE
Suspicious
Not being at the office, Rowan does not have access to the paperwork necessary to do that; it will have to just wait until they get back.
You have set the lowest of bars
_But I would walk 500 miles, and I would walk 500 more_
_Just to be the man who walked 1000 miles before I end this call_
I would walks 500 chunks and I would walk 500 more
rowan even managed to change his phone during a call thats some heavy skill.
He's to the point his phone know it has to change his way to work to handle rowan wandering.
Missed opportunity for him to casually stroll through Honeywood without realizing it. Adam and Greg could look at each other confused, then he would just keep walking by.
"This has been the furtherest you have ever been before" is such an adorable Adamism. :D
almost like a Samwise Gamgee quote..
Halfway to Mordor and the call still hasn't dropped.
I just love the fact that Rowan is not paying attention to where he's going
Absolutely love watching this you guys are cinematography and comedy are absolutely amazing
Rowan calling someone at the end for directions and getting stuck wandering again would have been gold 😂
'This is the furthest you've ever been before' - immediately thought of 'If I take one more step, it'll be the furthest away from home I've ever been' said by Sam in LoTR :)
I like tater's
It’s amazing the person he is talking too on the phone is simultaneously the greatest talker of all time, while having no time to say anything at all 😅
You can hardly put a comma between Rowan’s constant talking lol
The writing of the not-a-conversation is awesome. Feels like he's saying something but never actually _does_.
I don't know why, but I love how completely non-descript and vague Rowan's half of the conversation is
Yeh... Yeah yeah yeh. Nah no no. Yeah no. Tuesday. haha. Nah.
And so realistically false!
but also the bit where he acknowledges whatever someone had done to the person on the other end of the phone was *outrageous*, but "yeah nah I would have done the same"
And this way Rowan found a beach for a new TechTown advert 😅
Can we just appreciate the range of that handset? He answered on a landline and never got disconnected from the base station
*One does not simply walk into Mordor !!!*
*Rowan: "Hold my beer !"*
Props to whoever does the captions, some hidden gems in there this episode.
Just rewatched with the captions on, absolutely brilliant!
**helium** 2:16
I think it's Adam who does the captions? They're always at least this great; this is the only channel I always turn them on
*Helium* , Love it
I loved the captions! They do fun ones more than anyone else but todays were great!
Adam must be really good at tailing missions in Assassins Creed
God I hated those 😂
3 words: ghillie suit!
Never failed one 😎
@@VivaLaDirtLeague Adam Auditore!
Per the CC...Adam is :*sneak walking*". 😂
This was an excellent excuse to show off some gorgeous scenery!
Okay, with Adam "sneaking" right behinf Rowan I have to imagine how fun this was to shoot! How many bloopers where people just burst out laughing, the thought put a smilenon my face.
And yeah, definitely some Baelin's Route vibes with those majestic beach shots!
"Outrageous" Rowan was definitely talking to Ben
"He did that to me, once"
Definetely about Ben
Thought exactly this, word for word.
Imagine he walks all the way across New Zealand, across the sea, and to Australia
he'd be fine. Plenty of folk over here that would welcome him.
Adam on the other hand would be put to work.
@@MatCumbo what about Alan and Ellie?
@oliversherman2414 well they'd be given paycuts for leaving the store unattended
@@MatCumbo lol
This phone wandering saga really keeps you guessing. Looking forward to seeing where Rowan ends up next.
I was half expecting Rowan to start pointing at a pile of rocks, saying "Adam, why haven't you stocked these shelves mate?"
Beautiful day for phone wandering, ain't it? Huh huh!
This is how Rowan gets the idea for his TechTown commercial. Efficient, wouldn't expect less from a manager.
Missed opportunities..
Rowan wandering underwater.
Rowan wandering upside down on the ceiling.
Rowan wandering on the moon.
Rowan wandering on a red blood cell inside a human body.
Rowan wandering in Mordor.
Rowan wandering around in an anime.
Rowan wandering in alternate reality.
Rowan wandering with live dinosaurs because he ended up in the past.
Rowan wandering around in a file on your laptop.
Once Rowan started wandering down the forest path I REALLY expected him to wander into a medieval looking village...
Only to be greeted by Greg saying "Hello and welcome to Honeywood!"
I hope Tech Town sells that cordless phone. It has really good range.
Could be a simple cell phone with a charging stand that automatically answers the call when you pick it up. Nowadays *new* phone/fax lines are super rare, it's way cheaper to use IP or cell phones (or virtual fax service).
He switched to a cellphone somewhere along the way, not sure how though 😅

I just want to say, Rowan's ability to hold a conversation is godlike
The funniest part of this is Adam sneaking as if Rowan would even notice him while phone wandering
Adams NPC traits really came into action when following Rowan...
I'd say it was rowan who had one of those NPC phone calls that go like "yeah yeah, that's what I was saying" and it just keeps looping

This is literally me. For some reason I can’t stay in one place while talking on the phone. Especially not after like 10 minutes. 10 minutes is the longest I’m able to stay in one place while on the phone with someone.
When Rowan went into the forest, I was fully expecting he and Adam to come out into Honeywood, And Greg's there saying "Hello Adventurers!"
Not all wanderers are lost, but Rowan definitely is.
1:47 Up to that point, I can confidently say, been there, done that. (Including suddenly finding myself on top of a desk or cupboard in an empty office. 😊)
But you’re missing the ‘weird stretching over a chair’, the ‘thoughtlessly rearranging a colleague’s office plants’ and the ‘finding yourself outside in the rain without your shoes on’ parts.
uhhhhh
'...on top of a desk or cupboard...'? Now that is an issue!
@@mospeada1152 No, it’s fine. I’m pretty good at not slipping.
I cannot remember WHY I climbed up, but even as a child, I would usually climb up and down the wardrobe when listening to audiobooks. It’s just easier to concentrate when your limbs have something to do. 🤷♀️
@@venanziadorromatagni1641How do you climb a wardrobe 💀
I so wanted Rowen to wander across the sets. Just have him walk around Bodger and Greg without noticing them.
I totally expected Rowan to wind up at Gregs shop some how and start berating Greg for not being in uniform.
He stole Ben's line! That's outrageous!
Also gorgeous nature.
And I thought I was bad phone wandering in the house, I need to try harder to reach Rowan's epic skill level 🤣
Fr tho this was so relatable I always phone wander around the house
Rowan: "This is the furthest you've ever been before"....
lol. Adam has followed him before.
They missed the opportunity to go absurdist with this. Wandering through various fantastical backgrounds.
It would be nice to see the Tech Town team just enjoy a nice day outside... maybe the shop loses power, so they just make a picnic of the situation?
I've really grown attached to your characters over the years, and hope they can all be happy :)
Location filming, bonus! New Zealand really is stunning 💜
The *stares out into beauty* I can't, whoever did that needs a payrise 😂❤
Rowan's ability to constantly talk without saying anything is astonishing.
I remember a time when I couldn't be a phone wanderer. A time before cell phones... Before cordless phones. A time when your phone was a big dog-bone-shaped thing you held to your ear, connected to a box, connected to the wall. You couldn't go anywhere. Now, your "phone" is a government monitoring device that allows you to access the internet, play games and all sorts of things in exchange for sending your location at every moment and every word you say to a government database somewhere, and it will cheerfully tell you that there's a pokemon out on the freeway to get you to go stand in traffic.
What makes this channel even more special is how they have the best cinematography location in the world. Even the lighting is famed among photographers there.
"Ah! Hello advent-" *Rowan gives Greg the shush finger*
I bet he was talking to Ben. He did say "That's outrageous!" at one point.
Honestly missed a prime opportunity for him to walk through Honeywood, stop, make a comment about it being a nice day for fishing, then continued on.
Adam has better sneaking skills than all of the D&D party members combined.
Love Alan‘s subtle eye brow raise…made me wonder what treat we are in!
I like how he goes from a business phone to a cell phone without dropping the call.
That cordless phone has incredible reach!
We need Rowan just casually talking on his phone, walking through horrific situations, closely followed up an absolutely traumatised Adam.
The music playing in TechTown really made me think of being in a shopping mall. The slight echo like it was coming from speakers way up on a ceiling really sold it.
"Stares out into beauty"
Most beautiful place on the planet, as far as I can tell. I so wish I could visit.
We need a continuation of this. Please!
"I don't remember how we got here"
Maybe cameraman knows?
He was there when they arrivee
That phone range is world class. Also, love the showcasing of NZ landscapes. The real question is...who won? Is carpark, motorway or house closest? $60 is a decent pool
that's the most impressive cordless landline phone I've ever seen, the fact it remained connected to the base station miles away kind of makes cellphones pointless.
That must've been a nightmare to film, with the hills and wind, and probably no nearby roads 🤦♀️
Adam’s sneak skill on another level. Dude kept rolling 20’s.
Though you won't need to roll very high with Rowan having such a low passive perception skill. 😉
Excellent connectivity on that landline 😂

If only he had access to a phone, he could check their location on GPS.
I do this too. I read one time that it’s a psychological thing. Your brain is trying to find the person whose voice you are hearing but not seeing.
I was half expecting them to end up some insanely random place like some village in Vietnam just for the giggles
Hawaii .... for the callback .
He'd walk up a mountain in Queenstown in the south island if the phone call was long enough
