    Thank you for making this video! I followed your instructions step by step and was able to replace my sensor in less than 2 hours and now have an accurate oil pressure reading. You saved me hundreds of dollars doing myself and several hours compared to removing the entire intake plenum. It wasn't easy because there is so little room to work back there but with perseverance, I got it done. Thanks again!

    Hey, I am another satisfied customer in your debt. It was a bitch, but it would’ve been a nightmare without this video. Took me about 90 minutes only because the deep socket I used to take the sensor out worked fine but not to snug in the new one, I needed a six sided deep socket which I didn’t have. I think this was mentioned in the video. We improvised and I got it in and it all worked. Once again, your video is awesome. Thank you for the time you took and creating it and all the people that you’ve helped.

    Getting the plug off sensor at the beginning was the toughest part. Thanks for the good video and showing the mass air flow sensor connection so I knew what I had to blindly unlatch. Pushing in the tab to release it was key.

  • @tomfavale825
    @tomfavale825 Před 6 dny

    A great video! First, you're one of the very few who actually describe and explain how to remove the plug from the sensor. I was lucky enough to not have to remove any vacuum lines. At the location of the short extension and after the swivel, I used a 3/8 to 1/2 adapter and loosened the sensor initially with my breaker bar. Once loosened, I used a regular ratchet to complete removal. To remove the filter, I found a long (3") lug screw the diameter of the filter and gently screwed it in 1/4 turn to bite into and then remove the filter. 90 minutes total, maybe less than 45 if had to do again.

    I have a 2012 Colorado 5.3L V8 (bit of a unicorn) & searched high & low just to find out the location of my Oil Pressure Switch. Even Storer & Haynes was of no help. Thank you so much! I was on the brink of giving up & taking it to a shop. From now on I'll remember that 5.3L Tahoes have a lot in common with mine.

  • @rockawaytownshipfiredept.9074

    Thank you. I watched another video and they removed the intake manifold and I was so relieved to see how you did it. It only took me 30 minutes and it went EXACTLY as you showed. The only glitch was when I started the truck, the oil pressure still read zero, but 15 seconds later it read correctly. Great job, saved me hundreds $$$.

    Thanks for making this video. It was clear and concise. Showing how to remove the clips was a huge help, especially since it was very hard to see some of them. I followed the video to a tee and finished in about an hour and a half with no real issues except I lost the white clip off the electrical connector. It flew off while I was trying to pull it up. I stole the one from the mass airflow sensor (thanks for showing that they are the same) so I could put everything back together. Just need to get a replacement clip for the mass airflow sensor now and I'll be done. Thanks again.

    I may be having this issue. Oil Pressure reads around 20, sometimes below. "Engine Power Reduction" flashes on the dash as well as messages regarding the Stabilitrack and Traction Control. The engine runs really rough when this happens. I have to pull over, cut it off and restart it for it to "reset." Sometime it takes a few turns of the key before it gets right. This code is present on diagnostic. And as a side note, the transmission was just rebuilt by a professional. Needless to say money is tight. 😩 Great instructional video btw!

    It is definitely DIY-able. Followed the instructions. The only issue was the switch was positioned so that the wiring cap lock was facing the engine, meaning fingers couldn’t get in to move the white tabs up and press the clip to remove. Also use extra caution when tighening the new sensor in place, my tool came loose and bended the plastic part little bit. Again, thanks for the video. Helped me tons.

    Thank you for the video . Could you tell us what the oil pressure should be when the engine is idling. And then when you're cruising on the highway. Is 20 psi idling good? Thank you for the video

    Quick question. For the blue tabs, do you squeeze the top (wire side) or the bottom (sensor side) of the tabs? I made sure the sliding clip was up, I can move it up and down, but I cannot for anything get the plug off.

  • @jonjon2829
    @jonjon2829 Před 3 lety +6

    Umm.. actually u don't have to remove any hoses...u can simply push the plastic cover towards the firewall..there is enough space going through the hose and the clamp to push and give u a clear opening to see the entire part and electric clip to remove and use the tools to remove it....

    • @ERICSDIYGARAGE
      @ERICSDIYGARAGE  Před 3 lety +6

      I did mention that you do not have to remove the hoses but it makes it easier so you won't have to fight with them

    • @MikeEatonMT
      @MikeEatonMT Před 2 lety +2

      It didn't take much to remove and reinstall them. Now that I am familiar with this process I would likely work around them. Initially I could not see the sensor due to the lines being in the way.

    2007 Tahoe ls 5.3 Changed oil pressure switch and pressure still at 15-20 psi changed oil and oil filter and psi 35-40 but check engine light still on ? Do I clear the code ? And can I go smog right afterwards?

      Clear the code and you have to drive it for about 60 miles before the ecu completes the emmisons testing that they do

      Injector pump fault. Check to make sure you didn't accidentally disconnect something during the replacement of the oil sensor.

    How much does a repair like this cost at a shop? Let's say the whole sensor, not screen. And do they have to flush out the motor for stuff that would clog it again. Or would a normal oil change be enough? Great video thanks !

    • @ERICSDIYGARAGE
      @ERICSDIYGARAGE  Před rokem

      I would say around 200 might be more depending on the shop and location. And no it's not needed to flush the engine and replacing the screen is always a must

  • @classiccycleconnection9334

    The brand name of the sensor socket is Lisle. Pronounced “Lyle” rhymes with “pile”
