  • Welcome to the next video in our Season 03 Review series in collaboration with the Hits and Crits channel. This video focuses on covering the most important changes to the Greyjoy faction. In this video, I'm joined by Chris from the Hits and Crits channel to discuss the most important Greyjoy changes in Season 03. Buckle up for a longer video than usual. The Greyjoy faction was overhauled from the ground up, so even though we won't cover every change in detail, there are so many important changes to the faction that this will be a longer video.
Be sure to subscribe to the Hits and Crits channel to catch the rest of the videos in this series!

Nice rundown, now I kinda want to try Jokin in Ironborn Bowmen. And Daario attachment in Harlaw Reapers, come to think of it.

Daario in Reavers sounds really fun, with Prey on Fear healing up the wounds you take on rolling 1s. Are you talking about Jokin 2pt attachment or commander? With the Jokin day one patch, he’s less useful outside of Stormcrow lists. Jokin 2pt attachment and Widower 0pt attachment could be fun.

Great video guys. If you have more to discuss consider writing an article or a newsletter. I like hearing everything you have to say but sometimes it’s hard to put aside a full hour to hear it all.

Thanks for the suggestion! I haven’t thought before about publishing any articles, but I’d be open to it at some point if it made sense from a time investment perspective and if there was a desire for it. We set out to make the videos in this series short, concise, and only to focus time on the most important changes. Our adherence to those guidelines has ended up benign spotty at best though, but we knew all along that the Greyjoy video would be a beast since the faction overhaul was so extensive. Hopefully you’ll be able to catch the whole video over a few viewing sessions! That’s usually how I end up having to watch most hobby videos that are any longer than 20min.

That’s a great future video idea! A bit too big of a question to be answered in a comment, but like I said in the video, proper use of Balon has a big part to play in Greyjoy’s power level right now. Using Balon on the right unit and deploying that unit in the right place is huge. If you lose a flimsy unit early on, you have to decide whether to pop Balon on them right away, or save him for a higher value unit later.

I want to start playing this game and i have made a list, i am looking for recomendations (i dont know much about the game)
    Commander: Euron
    House harlaw reapers:
    - Euron (C)
    - Reaver captain
    Bowmen
    - Asha
    Bowmen
    Silenced men
    - Baelor Blacktyde
    - Reaver captain
    NCU: Rodrik Harlaw, Mocorro, Balon
I really want to keep Euron as i love him in the story and i also want to keep Rodrik as a NCU, would also like to keep the silenced men.
    Thanks in advance!

I hope you take the dive and try the game out! Maybe find someone locally to show you how to play before you buy into the game, just to be sure you enjoy playing it.
As for your list, Euron is a fun commander with some pretty cool tricks. I would avoid adding any more than one Reaver Captain to your list. You can only Outflank one unit per Round, which will leave one of your outflank units sitting on the bench for a long time. If you outflank one of them (and you may not even want to do that), I’d advise outflanking the Reavers. The Silenced Men will probably be a little more tanky. You also really don’t need two Bowmen right now. I’d recommend getting rid of one of them and replacing it with a unit of Drowned Men. DM are a staple unit of almost any Greyjoy list, for all the support they provide. They can even tank some damage for a while if needed. Enjoy!

@@imperialminis857 the drowned men sculpts are gorgeous, happy to add them to the list.
      New list is:
      House Harlaw Reapers
      - Euron (C)
      - Reaver Captain
      Drowned Men
      Silenced Men
      - Drowned Prophet
      Ironborn Bowmen
      - Asha Greyjoy
      NCU:
      Rodrik Harlaw
      Moqorro
      Balon Greyjoy
      38/40 pts
Really like this list now actually!

    • @imperialminis857
      @imperialminis857  Před 7 měsíci +1

You never want to leave points out of a list, if you can at all help it. If you’re two points short here, I’d drop the Drowned Prophet attachment from the Silenced Men and just take another Drowned Men unit. You’ll get more value out of another unit of Drowned Men than out of the the Drowned Prophet attachment in this situation. The DM can keep the Silenced Men healthy and block enemy units from getting to your Bowmen while you wait to outflank your Reapers.

I started with Bolton, got Stark and about to get into Greyjoy.
I’ve got a garage full of miniatures and boardgames. I was trying to avoid this game…I failed. Glad I did, it’s a really good game and this one I don’t have to paint.

It’s a great game system and it’s definitely awesome to be able to buy a unit box at a store and open it and play it on a table right then and there. Zero barrier to entry. Greyjoys are a ton of crazy fun!

I just bought the grayjoy starter box as well as a couple of units for very cheap, but it looks like the cards are season 2. Any resources i could use to update my rules and cards and whatnot? I dont see any update packs on cmon or anything

    • @imperialminis857
      @imperialminis857  Před 6 měsíci

Greyjoys are new enough that they came out after the 2021 Card Update Packs were released. You’ll need to go to the official CMON ASOIAF page and look for the Downloads tab. From there you can find files that contain all the updated Greyjoy unit cards and updated tactics cards. You can print them off, cut them out, and sleeve them with the outdated version of the card that you have. CMON has long teased a “print on demand” service for selling updated cards from the latest patch, but that hasn’t become a widespread service yet.

@Homer92 You can also download the War Council app for free. It contains all the updated cards and an army-builder. It’s a great free resource to have in your pocket.
