I learned for myself that at the age of 67, I certainly do not need carbs. I have lost 50 lbs. in 8 mos. on the ketogenic diet. I take no meds and am enjoying all the health benefits from burning ketones rather than carbs. My bp is perfect, I have no more inflammation, and no more brain fog. I eat some veggies but no grains or starch, and of course no sugar. Glad I found your channel.

That is great advice. I think we just love carbs because they appeal to the senses. We might not need them, but many people become addicted to them.

So true. Sugar is a drug. We have opiate receptors that respond to sugar and wheat. Most of it is a habit though. Once you get your body adapted to low carb and fat burning, cravings go away. That's one way you can tell that you are adapted to fat burning.

I disagree with your wife and my favourite Dr on this one. I haven't got any laboratory mice so I tinkered with two of my motobikes for 30 minutes each, one of them i took of all the carbs and the other i just loosened and tightened a few bolts and screws. The one with no carbs impossible to get it started and the other worked perfectly.

Thank you for the video. I was being warned by family that the body will die if you don't have carbs. Even the FDA recommends that the Daily Value for total carbohydrate is 275 g per day. This is based on a 2,000 calorie daily diet . I have started keto and have been doing well, lost 20 lbs in the first 5 weeks. I was originally feeling awful at 300lbs and now just the diet, vitamins d2 , d3 and k2 mk-7 with olive oil, beta hydroxybutyrate , vitamin C and plenty of fresh leafy greans, fermented vegetables like sauerkraut, pickles, and meats but limited. I add fats to everything or have pork fats in sausages I make, dried and smoked hams, jerky, biltong, soppressata and other meats , but since keto doesn't allow you to overeat, I eat less than 2000 calories daily including beverages. I didn't even have to stop drinking beer a few days weekly, I switched to michelob ultra, 3 to 4 beers a couple of times a week, I just need to keep my total carb intake below 50 grams and I do not have a refeed day since I feel that the cheating would act as a drug addict relapsing.. That is exactly it because I am a food addict relapsing on something the body truly wasn't intended to eat. I try to eat whole foods, the only cheating there is almond flour and other ground up powders, but they do come from whole, all natural non gmo certified sources. I buy keto meals from Factor, they are healthy and delicious fresh unfrozen meals all natural, non GMO, non processed meals and are for the times when we don't have time for all the prep, cooking and cleaning. I take them to work for lunch and their egg bites for breakfast with my coffee. Energy boost city from high fat in the AM, however I am diabetic and have been extremely dizzy when waking up until I eat.

Humans evolved to use both glucose and ketones. Yes, the body can use just ketones but to say that this is best is a stretch. Nature has given a lot of effort to enabling the digestion of carbohydrates. You misrepresent glucose by just talking about "spiking". The best you can say is that what is appropriate is a balance between fat and glucose.
