- Have you tried virtual reality? If not, it isn't too surprising, since most VR kits need to be attached to a high-end gaming PC to drive their graphical needs. But what about a stand-alone VR headset, like this Oculus Quest 2? How do they work? There's only one way to find out... bit.ly/392t2we

VR has been around since the late 60's, though what was referred to as "VR" then is nothing like the VR of today. Even so called "Smart houses" have been around since then. They were so obsessed with the future back then.
Hello, thank you for this amazing teardown of the Oculus Quest 2 headset! I was curious what kind of connector the screen assembly is? I'm working on a wearable HMD for an intricate cosplay costume and looking for an alternative way to get vision using two cameras and face mounted displays, and repurposing my old Quest 2 for the project would be an awesome way to breathe some new life into its tech!
Can you physically disconnect the mic, so your oculus never detects it and detects the external mic you use?
In the background, what is the scale of each square? want to see how big the device is in terms of width
I have been waiting for a quest teardown :)
I hope it lived up to expectations!
How is the battery secured, what is the capacity, what is the weight?
can you do a teardown of the controller i wanna see if its an easy fix on the analog modules
Good question, i'll have a look at one and see what I can work out!
I'm trying to replace a screen on my quest 2 (rma doesn't seem possible). I got to 10:53 and you skipped the part of separating the lens screen assembly from the plate covering the body. If you remember or can show how that is done that would be sweet!
okay there's 8 tiny Phillip screws you need to remove. carefully remove the display cable from the plate though the slot and there's a tiny flap attached to the plate as well on the top left of the plate facing you (you'll ruin the copper emi tape no matter what so get a new roll of the same width and cut ti to length when installing it)
If that doesn’t work i think the dude in this video includes that part czcams.com/video/3wdlL3v_38I/video.html
Fascinating, cheers. 👍
You're welcome!
what kind and size of the screw t 2 ?
the vr at the beginning is scary
Hos to fix a lose charging port????
Which cables plugged into the motherboard are the microphones? I'd like to see if it's possible to run it with no microphones plugged in
Oh that's cool. youtube deleted my helpful comment. someone answered me (I think it was David himself) somewhere else and its (according to his memory) the two tiny cables where the left one is disconnected at 8:56
bottom-center of the paused frame at that timestamp. for anyone else who might need this
Wow, so much tech in a really tiny space
So thats why only the top edge was heating up! There was a heatsink! Gosh how stupid do i have to be to not think about that
How do I fix the power button when it’s not functioning or lighting when charging
Just curious, did you drop it? Does the meta logo than the battery show on the screen and nothing after that? My sons brother got a hold of his and dropped it (just got a month ago), after that the power button and light does not come on when plugged in, when you press the power button it will sometimes show the meta screen and the battery (100%) but will not come on even if you do the power/- buttons or hard reset with little hole on side. I honestly think it’s something inside that came loose or broke. Did you ever figure your issue out? Or have any suggestions?
Which processor is used in this hardware
Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 SoC
The battery right at your face! Enough the scare the pants off you!
It made me feel a little uncomfortable!
Exactly. Surprised no injuries have happened yet.
Hi... Your audience is mostly and probably others who needs to tear down the same model. Then it could be good to mention the size of screws.
No after just minute of talking a notice this and will not continue.
whats the movie in 5:00 ?
"First Kid" 1996.
@@a531016 thank U
Back in the day the frame rate and latency absolutely were nauseating. I remember taking 30 or 40 minutes to get my head straight after even 5 minutes of play
yeah i get that alot in free movement games something about moving in a 3d space in vr upset my body in so many ways
@@shogenx I have heard that using something tacktile under your feet, like a small rug so you can still ceter yourself helps? It worked for me a bit?
@@a531016same here. My son has motion sickness way worse than I do and he started using a backseat car mat. After watching him play without getting sick or taking motion sickness medicine first, I tried it and surprisingly worked great.
I hate that they renamed the company Meta, such a stupid name!
