  • Cerro Gordo was once a booming mining town. It was responsible for a lot of the Lead and Silver production in California. The town started in 1865. Eventually water became an issue and the miners from Cerro Gordo, needed a place to bathe and do their laundry. The men would take a trek once a month to the Dirty Socks warm spring in Olancha, to take care of business.
Watch the video to see just how dirty, the Dirty Socks warm spring is.

Wow,this is incredible. I didn't realize I've actually been to this place, until you said Dirty Socks!!! I lived in Lone Pine when I was a little girl. I think I was 4-5 I was living with a foster family. The man of the house was a Preacher. Well, I remember going to this place and they actually baptised people in Dirty Socks. The memory just came back. I thought it was so strange when I was a little kid. A weirder thing is I actually stayed at the deserted chemical plant down the road, when I was around seven years old.

Haa! Loved your video! It showed the unexpected grimness of desert travel. Most vlogers edit vids to seem like its all a wonderful adventure.. Its not. There's smells, bug, rude people, hassles, heat, cold, breakdowns, and even... wonderful times. Keep going girl..
