- Growing your own herbs ensures freshness and adds a delightful touch to your culinary creations. I harvested basil from my summer herb garden and in this video, I show how I create my own basil spice from my bountiful harvest. It's so EASY!

I could have used my dehydrator, the Excalibur Electric Food Dehydrator - 🌟amzn.to/3SFMB0A
Or, I could have laid the basil out on a screen to dry but I chose to use a woven wooden basket with plenty of openings for airflow. Once the basil was completely dry, I pulled the leaves from the stems and then, I used my beautiful Green Onyx mortar and pestle - 🌟amzn.to/42G5SDq
to crush the herbs, the traditional way.
Then, I grabbed a kitchen colander and a bowl and used the holes in the colander to crush my herbs so that I could store more for future use. Both ways resulted in aromatic herbs ready for my favorite recipes! From homemade pasta sauces to salad dressings or simply adding a kick to your favorite recipe, basil from YOUR GARDEN will quickly become a staple in your kitchen as well.
Plus, it's so cost-effective! The cost of two plants saved me so much! I used my basil to make herbal tinctures as well as using fresh basil while cooking, and now I have dried basil stored in my cupboards.

Thanks for this video, I had no idea it was that easy to take herbs and dry them and crush them and just pour them in a bottle. Look forward to more of your videos. I sure do miss ya'll not being in Fayetteville anymore.
We are definitely doing an herb garden this year. I want our own mullein for sure
