I have the SKR installed and when I installed it I ran into issues. I have it working now but the CR touch and Z homing is not functioning. I keep getting unknown command G29. How can I fix this?
@@alexisabro6482 Hi. Is the bltouch/crtouch enabled in the firewire? Do you see options in the menu around the bltouch?
I upgraded to the mini skr as well and I am using the cl-touch and the x axis offset isn’t available on the touch screen and neither is the auto bed leveling either that was in your video. Is it a software thing?

Im litteraly about to throw my whole printer in the trash, It's been a month im trying to update the firmware for my cr touch to work (I use SKR mini e3 v2.0 board) the only thing different that I did from this video is I had my cr touch installed before inserting and starting my printer. But that blue screen is just the thing that made me give up everything. Creality ender 3 pro
I love you dude. I finally got my Ender 3 working with BLTouch because of your videos. Seriously, you have the most to-the-point videos on this stuff. You rock, Dude!!!!
Glad I could help! :)
Dude. You're awesome. Keep up the great work. Your videos are very informative.
Thanks, will do!
Hi there, thanks for the video. Seem to be having an issue with flashing the firmware. Followed your video and tried to update to the bltouch, but it does not show anywhere in the menu and it does not connect to the printer anymore (No printer attached message on screen) Any suggestions?
Hi. It sounds like the firmware didnt flash. Do you have a tft screen? If so, try to switch to basic mode to see if it shows anything.
Thank you for your review. I have the SKR 2 on an Ender 3. The firmware builds fine but when I go to home the printer, it goes to the X endstop, then the Y, then the nozzle goes to the center of the board and goes up a little bit then stops. I have tried plugging the CR Touch in the Servo and Probe pins and also using the Z Stop pins (changing the firmware prior to for each) and I still can't get it to work. When I turn the printer on, the probe does pop out so I know it is getting power. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Hi. Make sure you comment out #define Z_MIN_PROBE_USES_Z_MIN_ENDSTOP_PIN and uncomment #define USE_PROBE_FOR_Z_HOMING in the firmware, assuming you have all 5 pins going to the bltouch port. Also, try it with the z stop plugged back in.
Nice review! Loving the channel. Only question I have is if I'm using Marlin to compile my setup (you can also include CRTouch) I can skip ABL step? Surprised you aren't using Marlin (Cheetah).
Hi. Thanks for the feedback. Im not sure i understand your question but if your asking if the if the ABL setup is needed if your using the CR Touch the answer is yes. Its basically the same process as the BLTouch.
@@3DPrintscape yes. Thanks! Appreciate the fast reply. Keep up the good content! 👍
Curious about replacing an ender 3 s1 pro stock creality board with an SKR. I don't want to get rid of the CR touch that already comes with the printer. Looks like the firmware treats the cr touch just like a bl touch, no special changes needed. Is that true? Thanks!
Hi. That is true. To the firmware they are the same device.
Hi. I did find this useful, but I still have a problem that maybe you can help me with. I have an Ender 3 Neo, which comes with a CR Touch. I damaged my Creality Firmware board so I purchased the SKR Mini E3 V2 board. I installed it, and customized the firmware. Since this Ender 3 does not have a z endstop I inserted the Z diagonal jumper; I also had the same problem without the Z diagonal jumper. After loading the firmware I move the z axis up and then use Auto Home. But the x gantry keeps on moving down, even when I put my finger under the CR touch probe (so that the probe pops up). So my question is how do I get the auto home to work properly? Thanks! Phil
Hi. What config example did you start with and what changes were made?
Sorry for the late question. I have a Ender 3 pro with the skr mini e3v3. My bed is a 300 X 300 , not original. I would grab the firmware for a printer that has a 300x300 stock bed? Would be easier than firmwear tweaks?
Hi. I would make a marlin build and update the bed size. I’m going to try to get a video coving the process out this week.
@@3DPrintscape Thank you for that I eagerly await it
I am considering adding the fan upgrade to my Ender 3 Pro. But I fear it would be in the way of my auto leveler. If I installed both the fan upgrade and the auto leveler, would there be conflict? Have you experienced it?

Hi. It seems like they both work about the same. The CR Touch seems to be better made though.
I had a off brand bl touch that I couldn't get to work for anything. I ordered a CR touch today and i think the wiring is backwards mine is L to R white black yellow red blue for the cr touch your's is the opposite right?
Hi. I wouldnt worry to much about the wire colors, ive seen them and the bltouch shipped with many variations. I would verify the pinout to make sure the order is right on the connector.
Hi! Great imformative and in-depth videos! Thanks. I do have an issue though. I have an SKR Mini e3 v2.0 and the CR Touch. I flashed the firmware you suggested and when I do auto-home it moves to the corner, raises up and then does nothing else. I don't have the touch screen.
Hi. Is the z stop connected? If not, try to connect it. There were only a few creality builds that wanted it disconnected.

Hey. 1st, thanks for the review. 2nd, I have a Ender3, I bought a skr Minie3 V3 and a CR Touch, I think I've connect everything fine, download and tried both firmware ender3 Bl touch and Bl Touch for z homing. The best result I've got is the probe moving, but not doing its job. Can you help me in any way ? Thank you so much.
Hi. Can you send me a link to the firmware your using?
I have a SKR mini E3 V3, but it says "stopped" on the screen whenever I press bed level or auto home . Does it suppose to work like this video? Or I have to change the wiring?
Hi. It sounds like the firmware your running isnt meant for the wiring the way it is.
Hopefully will get some light.
First of all thank you for your videos.
I have an ender 3 pro I installed or replace the board with a SKR-mini-E3 V2.0. I have the stock screen and im trying to install the cr touch. I did every thing but I dont see any thing changing and the auto home stil is the front right corner. any thoughts or a way to test if it was fully installed. thankyou.
Hi. What your describing points to the firmware not being updated for the crtouch/bltouch. What firmware are you running and do you see bltouch anywhere in the menus?
For some reason after flashing the firmware nothing appears on the screen. I have a stock LCD screen from an ender 3. Do I need to configure the firmware for this screen.
Hi. You shouldnt need to do anything for the screen assuming the build your using doesn't have the creality screen enabled. Have you tried to use a different sd card? It should be 8gb or less and formatted as FAT32.
Did you do this after you did the dual z axis? Would the CR touch work wtih the dual z axis and the SKR mini V2?
Hi. I did the crtouch first. It requires a firmware update the dual z axis didnt. It will work with the SKR mini v2 & 3.
Do you know how to connect cr touch to screen mini v1.2 that's the board I have it doesn't have the 5 pin connection on the board it has a 3pim servo port
Hi. You have to spilt the servo and probe pins out. The 3 servo pins would connect to the servo port and the probe pins would connect to the z stop port. There are also a couple small firmware changes needed. If you decide to go that route let me know and i can help with the firmware part.
I have the skr mini e3. V 1.2. I am having trouble with the wiring. I have tried a couple configurations and the probe will not do anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks I’m advance.

Im having the same issue. Did you find a solution to this??
Great video. I just got my cr touch and have it mounted, however auto homing makes the extruder push into my glass bed. I can’t lower it to zero to find the z offset as the extruder hits the bed around 3mm. It has to lower passed the bed height for the cr touch to trigger. Is this a configuration issue or do I need to try and mount the cr touch lower?
Hi. What mounting bracket are you using. With the probe extended, it should be lower than the nozzle. If thats not the case, you will need to lower the CR Touch.
@@3DPrintscape I’m using the default mounting plate that came with the cr touch. The one meant for the ender 3 pro. And when it’s deployed, it’s only about .5 to .6 mm lower than the nozzle. I’m using the firmware configured to use the cr touch for z homing as well
@@UnveilinMedal8 If its lower than the nozzle it should be fine, but that is cutting it a bit close. Can you try to add a washer or something to lower the cr touch to see if that helps?

Looks like I had the firmware mixed. I have the right firmware now and everything from the CR touch works correctly now. Unfortunately the crash is still happening but it looks like a temp error. Looks like the max temp is being triggered before it even begins heating when I start a print. This last time I tried to print it have a loud constant beep with a max temp error “please reset”. I did change out the extruder and thermistor when I did the board. Could it be a bad thermistor or is there a setting I have wrong? Hi. You need to run a mesh then save it. You can do that with the g29 command.
@@3DPrintscape when o run. The command it will crash, work but fail after it probes, randomly make different meshes, totally miss the bed altogether even the nozzle will miss, also it will do one or a combination of these things even if I home the printer or move it a little so it don't crash. @@johnvdlaan562 Can you try the firmware from my site? 3dprintscape.com/marlin-firmware-builds/
Still not working it keep saying volume.init failed. Is the sd card to lange?? I use a 128 gb sdcard
@@johnvdlaan562 That SD card wont work. It should be 8gb or less and formatted as FAT32.
ummn sir,! why my ender-3-pro is showing me the blue screen every time when I turn it on? ....I can't use it
Hi. It could be the wrong firmware, or the same firmware with the same named used multiple times. Try adding a random set of numbers to the end of the file name and uploading that to the printer.
@@3DPrintscape 🥲 my board is dead I have to buy another one 😭 thanks a lot ☺️
@@-animallover2787 The standard bluescreen like that is fairly common, I don't think the board is dead. I think its a matter of getting the right firmware, making sure the file name is unique and pushing that to the printer.
I just had this issue. You have to rename your file as FIRMWARE.bin. Also make sure you are not doing "save link as.." the file size will be smaller.
@@Bloodyfisted Intersting, if the smaller file was used that could have caused the behavior you were seeing.
I will post for the first time. It relies on the translation function. Please forgive me for the strange words.
I am using Ender3 pro, SKR Mini E3 V1.2 and TFT35.
When I connect the CR Touch to the SKR board, write the firmware and perform autobet leveling, the display shows "eco: Fade Height off."
And the CR Touch collides with the bed.
I investigated it myself and tried to improve it, but I was at a loss because I didn't understand anything.
It's good when you have time to spare.
If you like, please tell me the improvement measures that even beginners can do.
Hi. The fade height wont impact the autohome, so if its failing there, you have a separate issue. What firmware are you running?
@@3DPrintscape Thank you for reply. I've tried it several times, but I'm worried if the comment has arrived because of a problem with the comment function.
I made a video of the current situation. The firmware was run by renaming firmware-bltouch-for-z-homing.bin to firmware.bin.
czcams.com/video/B2WfGr2xAYo/video.html
The video is in Japanese, but I hope it can support automatic translation.
@@Hiroyamount Assuming you have all five cr touch wires going to the bltouch port and the z stop still connected, that's the wrong firmware. You don't want to use the one with z-homing in the name. That assumes you connect the probe stop to the z stop port.
@@3DPrintscape Thank you for your reply.
(Comment is resent due to a bug in the comment function)
SKE Mimi E3 v1.2 SKE Mini E3 v2.0 and wire port specifications are different. I am using v1.2.
CR Touch Five wires are divided into three and two and connected to SERVOS and Z-STOP.
For firmware, I already tried two patterns, firmware-bltouch-for-z-homing.bin and firmware-bltouch.bin. Both were unsuccessful.
Touching Self-Test, Deproy, Stow on the display worked fine. The impression is that only Z detection is not working.
Is the CR Touch wire connection different? Or do I need other settings?
@@Hiroyamount The crtouch wiring is the same as the bltouch, but make sure you verify the pin output. If you have all five wires and thee z stop connected, you will want to use the firmware-bltouch.bin firmware.
dude every damn time i do this crap my god damn printer gets a blue screen and i just got a new mother board with marlin 2.0 on it and i dont have any firmware to fix the dam thing. brand new mother board to trash.
any help? please
Hi. I havent seen a bluescreen on the skr mini boards. Are you using that or the stock creality one?
if anyone has a problem with a blank screen after updating the firmware: for me downloading from github with right-click did NOT work because it downloaded a larger file somehow, that did no flash correctly... so if you have the same issue just click on the file and download it via the icon top right...
i already thought i destroyed my printer somehow...
Hi. Thanks for sharing this.
my printer dose not home in the middle it just crashes in to the front left corner im at a loss
Hi. What firmware are you using and did you clear your eeprom after flashing it?
@@3DPrintscape I I’m using the firmware shown in the video I did not clear the eprom how would I do that
@@3DPrintscape hi i cleared the eprom now it’s just finishing in mid air after a few seconds
@@3DPrintscape hi i cleared the eeprom now it cant go go down on the z when in movement ?
@@3DPrintscape so i worked out my problem i had the Z unplugged but now its only doing 2 points of the mesh and then stopping ? any help
I keep getting unknown command G29
Also my printer keeps going all the way left
Hi. What firmware did you use and do you have the bltouch options in the menu?
@@3DPrintscape we got it, the printer board wasn't updated right
No matter what firm ware I put into this board or whatever, does not work. just homes the x and y and thats it
Hi. If the z stop is not connected, try connecting it.
Be careful of these instructions! I installed the CR Touch and the SKR Mini. The firmware that was on the board was Marlin 2.0 bugfix. I right clicked the file on github that you provided in the link and saved target as and renamed to firmware.bin. I inserted the sd card and started the printer. Now there is nothing but a blue screen of death on the printer screen!
Hi. This is a common issue. Make the filename unique, so add the date or something to it. For example firmware0305.bin. If you still get a blue screen, you may have grabbed the wrong firmware.
I have the same problem, it does not help to change the name, and i have the correct firmware, can you please respond to this or do a video about it, becouse it drives me crazy, i cant figure out how to solve this
@@markusosterberg6588 I have only seen it not take the file if the sd card is not 8gb or less (and formatted as FAT32), the file name is the same as a previous one, or the firmware is wrong. That said, someone recently said they had a similar issue and got it working by reducing the file name to less than 8 characters.
@@3DPrintscapeit would’ve been nice to know the 8gb thing beforehand…….
@@zadotterazo690 Ya, sorry about that, its not really documented anywhere.
It is a complete MYSTERY to ME how ANYONE is getting their BTT stuff working -- my two-week-long nightmare trying to upgrade my Ender 3 has yielded nothing REMOTELY useful! I wanted to run Klipper, so I got the SKR Mini E3V3 and the TFT 3.5 and the BTT Pi 1.2 in hopes of making that move. Well, so far I have managed to BRICK TWO of the Mini boards WITH THEIR STUPID FIRMWARE, and their "tech support" has been ZERO HELP! A metric TON of apologies does NOTHING to fix the problems. Answering the questions I ask (like six or eight times!) might POSSIBLY be helpful - IF the answer is actually KNOWN to someone there? Yes, six or eight TIMES I have asked them: WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS OF OPERATION??? How hard can THAT BE to answer??? Apparently it's lost in the Google Translate or something....
Hi. Sorry to hear your having issues with your setup. This would be difficult to troubleshoot in yt comments but if you join my discord (link in video description) server people will be able to help out.
@@3DPrintscape OK - I'll try to give that a shot - after one or two "honey-do" matters . . . .
THANK YOU for the prompt RE: !!!
Well since I rarely use social apps and I was not sure what to do with discord, I think I will post my question here.
I was wondering what is the difference between BigTreeTech pre-compiled firmware firmware-bltouch.bin and firmware-bltouch-for-z-homing.bin. I would like to keep my Z limit switch if possible.
Hi. There is a difference. The one with z homing in the name assuming you remove the z stop and connect the probe stop there instead. If you want to leave the z stop connected (which i recommend), you would use the other firmware and connect all 5 wires from the bltouch to the bltouch port.
@@3DPrintscape Okay great. Thanks for the info.
Is there a way to attach it to a microswiss dd for the ender 3
Hi. You would have to print a custom mount for fan duct cover. I think there are options on thingiverse.
@@3DPrintscape I was about to do that but I just used that same bracket for the ender 3. Works like a charm. No issues.
