    There are some insanely crummy videos on the topic on you tube so you need to make videos or do tutorials for people making videos on how to do things because you dont waste time and are extremely well put together. Blessings from Texas and thank you it also helps that you're set up is the same as Ford super duty

    This diagram really cleared up the wiring layout for me. It is just as, the used trailer I purchased is wired. Except the manufacturer used all the wrong color wires and the damaged lights no longer work. Im having to rewire , replace the trailer connector, add and ID Bar on back , and replace most of the running and marker lights. Thanks for posting this.

      Hi Atubeviewer, Thanks for watching. That is a great idea, I didn't think of that. For now here you go.
      Splice the blue wire from the breakaway switch to the blue trailer brake wire from the breakaway battery box.
      Splice the black wire from the breakaway switch into the Trailer 7-way connector brake circuit. The color of the brake circuit may vary trailer to trailer.
      Splice the red battery positive wire from the breakaway battery box to the Trailer 7-way connector 12V+ auxiliary power circuit. The color of the 12V+ auxiliary power circuit may vary from trailer to trailer.
      Attach the white wire from the breakaway battery box to the trailer chassis using a ring terminal or Splice with white trailer wire.
      hope this helps

    Can I add additional running lights to the running light wire? I won't to add colored side lights on the trailer. What kind of 12 volt item could I use?
    Hope these aren't dumb questions. Great video. Very clear.
    Thanks

    • @joetheboatguy5394
      @joetheboatguy5394  Před 5 měsíci

      Hi ecook, thanks for watching and nice comment. They are no dumb questions; all questions are valid here 😊. You can connect any 12V rated lights. Even led light strips if you want. BUT if you go with led lights make sure all your lights are led in the circuit. Not good to mix and match led and halogen lights. All your lights should be connected in parallel. Also make sure you respect the laws of color lights in your part of town (if they are any LOL).
      PS: one thing to considered, when connecting light in parallel you will need more amps. Make sure you have the right fuse for your running lights (especially for halogen).
      Let me know if this helps 😊

    Great video, all my wires are wired the same as your video but when my running lights are on and I plug in my trailer in to truck the taillights on truck get brighter. Any ideas?

    • @joetheboatguy5394
      @joetheboatguy5394  Před 8 měsíci

      Hi chrishawley, thanks for watching, first thing I would do is on the trailer, make sure the connector is clean and free of corrosion. Then you will need to make sure that the main trailer connector ground and the grounds for the all the lights are attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces. Corrosion will add resistance that can cause voltage change. If they are clean and all wire are fine. Then I would suspect your converter box that can be going bad. Let me know we will figure it out. 👍

      @joetheboatguy5394  Před 11 měsíci

      Hi draganku. Thanks for watching. I suspect that your flasher lights are not working either. You would have to check your yellow and green cables. Make sure they are well-connected.

    Hello I have a 06 equipment pro utility trailer, with a white black yellow brown and green wires not sure how to hook up especially e brakes

    • @joetheboatguy5394
      @joetheboatguy5394  Před rokem

      Hello Vincent Aguirre, thanks for watching, usually white is ground for trailers, brown is lights, yellow is left and stop light and green is right and stop light. Your black wire is not usually on trailer wires. What you can do is fallow the wire and see if it goes to your brake. Usually brake is a blue wire unless previous owners change the wires.

    Why would my trailer running lights stay on while the truck is off an parked?

    • @joetheboatguy5394
      @joetheboatguy5394  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Hi gala83filmstaylorg7, thanks for watching. One reason I can think of why you’re running light stay on is that your auxiliary 12v wire might be connected to your running lights. Or both running light wire and 12v aux wire seen to be connected to running light. Check that out and let us know 👍

    • @gala83filmstaylorg7
      @gala83filmstaylorg7 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @joetheboatguy5394 so you were right the top two pins where wired backwards giving my running lights constant power...I switched them but now my running lights only work with my truck lights turned on instead of auto? Is that normal? It's a 2015 chevy silverado

    • @joetheboatguy5394
      @joetheboatguy5394  Před 3 měsíci

      Ok we got one problem resolved 👍
      Now for the running lights working on the ON position but not on Auto. Are you on parking when you’re testing? Maybe your auto only activate on Drive position. Try that.

    • @joetheboatguy5394
      @joetheboatguy5394  Před 10 měsíci

      hi gregridesbikes, thanks for watching. they are many ways to cover unused wires. You can use the most basic way with electric tape. You can also use shrink tubes, self-fusing silicone tape or Liquid electric tape. I hope this helps :)

  • @blakerothermel5484

    Where do you connect the ground wire to each light? My reverse lights only have one wire.

    • @joetheboatguy5394
      @joetheboatguy5394  Před rokem

      Hi Blake Rothermel, thanks for watching. If you only have one wire that would mean your ground wire should be the screw on the light and will be attached to your metal frame. Your trailer frame will be ground.
      Some lights are made that way

  • @Mike-vu9xf

    What gauge wire?

    • @joetheboatguy5394
      @joetheboatguy5394  Před rokem

      Hi Mike, thanks for watching. Don’t forget to subscribe 🙂. Trailer wire is usually 16 gauge. Now if your lights are led you could even go smaller size. I would stick to 16 gauge 👍

  • @kevindendy6888
    @kevindendy6888 Před 2 měsíci +1

    the only time a ground wire goes to each light is if it is LED,,the frame is otherwise the ground.

    • @joetheboatguy5394
      @joetheboatguy5394  Před 2 měsíci

      Hi Kevindendy, thanks for watching, I use the frame as ground but not everyone likes doing that. Even on vehicles the frames are usually ground. 👍
