Big shout out to Anthony (and Luke) from Clockbait for the loan of the Batperson, and for coping with Mr X for the night. I love it, in spite of myself, and in spite of the few rather surprising failings. Mind you, it is easy to love something that is worth nearly twice what Anthony paid for it, eh?! Cheers, Jody
Great review as always! Thanks for the mention! That rotor noise is so cringeworthy 🤣
In the AD I tried it on it felt perfect with no links taken out, soon as I went outside though it had too much movement for my liking, so I’ve had to wear it tighter than I’d like. Annoying but jubilees are still more comfy than oysters
Cheers for the borrow lads! It is back with Mr X and will be leaving on a jet plane today. We checked his Root Beer and it is just as noisy. 😱 Bloody Swiss scammers eh? Hope you pick up a few subs. Jody
My Squale root beer does not make any rotor noise, has no bezel play, has been accurate to +1 second every other day and has great lume. Why all the gushing for Rolex at an insane premium?
@@elarson312 I mean every mechanical has rotor noise, just depends how loud is it.
You know the clasp has micro adjusts and easy link right? HAHA
@@Goldenbaba430 salty much?
That's a cool Parnis homage.
Ukko 😂😂😂👍🏼👏🏼
My Parnis is great and ticking just fine.
@@muffemod Got a parnis. More than happy with it. If it breaks, buy a new one! Happy days.
I have an Alpha Pepsi GMT homage which comes on a three link oyster type bracelet. For about $100 it is surprisingly good.
@@muffemod how long have you had it, just out of curiosity?
Got mine last week.. been talking about it for over a year and first thing my wife said was “looks like your seiko”.... yes honey.. sure...
Hehe! Good eye.
Be honest, you can’t blame her though.
Now we know how women feel when we comment on their handbags ... ;)
Finally an honest review of a Rolex on CZcams! Thank you!! I found similar issues with another Rolex. Somehow Rolex is always given a pass yet if these problems were on a $500 watch people go nuts.
Above $1000, the more expensive it is the less these flaws matter :)
Find one on AliExpress for $80 and I'm there!! haha
It's called a Loreo! lol 😉
Please, make compaeation with Parnis GMT
Absolutely. After all, they've been producing the maxi case gmt on a jubilee longer than Rolex 🙂
Great as always Jody. I just can’t wrap my head around the value proposition. No AR, boring caseback, dated, ahem - I mean classic, look. Really I think the only reason you would buy a Rolex is for the brand and so you can impress others. But there is so much other stuff for $14k I could think of buying.
Hey, my Pagani GMT has the same bezel bounce. Amazing level of detail from Pagani!
I much prefer the far superior Perlative Ceronometer!
😂😂😂😂😂
That's a weird looking Pagani Design
😂 It's a Parnis mate!
@@JustOneMoreWatch Obviously, what was I thinking 😅
Great 👍 COLAB guys. I actually have both, while I prefer the look of the Batgirl with the Jubilee Bracelet, I actually prefer to wear my Batman with the Oyster Bracelet Jody/Anthony for some reason. In fact on Friday I actually sized up the Batgirl for my wife to wear who has incredibly small wrists but likes wearing large watches, mainly an AP.
This is a fantastic watch to be sure and a great review as usual. I own the slightly older brother to this "Batperson", the 116710 (all black ceramic bezel). I think you missed the point though, when discussing bezel play as a detractor or area for improvement...this is not intended as a dive watch, and therefore, the wearer should be able to move and set the bezel quickly and easily. The bezel on the GMT is not a function of a "life or death" measurement as it would be on a dive watch, but rather a reference tool for the world traveler. In term of operation, I love the way mine seem to lift ever so slightly, then slide into the next position. In fact, I prefer the GMT bezel action to that of a 120 click diver...just feels nicer. Keep up the good work.
I know its an old video, but here's hoping someone still reads the fresh comments;
I just received my BLNR new from an AD this week and I really got lucky with mine;
The bezel has absolutely zero play. Its quite a bit stiffer than I expected though, and sadly I have no other GMTs handy to test out the stiffness.
The GMT hand is also painted much better than the one in the video, with the paint going all the way down to the arrowhead where it forms a nice symmetrical pile.
The rotor, while not as horrific as the video, is still quite noisy..
..but in my experience, the new 32XX movements all produce much more noise than the 31XX movements did; I had a chance to test that with a few different watches, and old movements can really have almost inaudible winding, but the new ones are always very audible and sometimes even louder than in the video.
Fair review. Nice to see both perspectives. Cheers!
I don't recall ever seeing a review of a new Rolex that had anything to say negatively about bezel play.
I'd be returning that to the AD.
I wear mine on a bond nato strap. Hardly anyone notices it. Just the way I like it.
got my 22 one last week love it, funny mine has zeo bezel movement like the one in your video, and no loud rotor noise either, maybe you just have a bad one there...its solid, I also have alongside it my big DSD JC
Haha I’d probably do it to. The GMT Master II is my second favourite Rolex behind the (would you believe it?) Oyster Perpetual 39.
This exact model is my daily and your review is spot on. Well done sir.
Max how do you like this being your daily? I'm about to pull the trigger on the same exact one (I have a submariner for tuxedo/aquanaut for fun/portofino for old guy look)
Fantastic watch but very very ... very expensive, but when I will be a board member or some manager maybe I will grab one 😀
I think all Rolex sports models should be on brushed oysters, maybe even the Daytona. Having owned a 116710LN, it was the one feature I felt didn’t suit the watch. The jubilee is very comfortable but it doesn't go with the maxi case at all. If the crown guards were removed and the lugs more slender like its ancestor 6542, then the jubilee would work. It’s a batgirl, end of story. I’ve picked up a 126600 SD43, now that’s a perfect sports watch.
No one complained about the misaligned bezel!
And the cyclops looks misaligned too 🤔
Epic Review; I wish you covered more higher end and haute horology pieces.
I just got mine this week and it's astonishing, gladly I just paid the list price!
I have the black Daytona, black sub c date, two tone bluesy, and polar explorer 2. I’m on the list for this Batman . I might have to flip one to get this . If you had to which watch would you flip ? Or should I just stick to what I have ?
Best an most honest reviewer on CZcams, keep up the good work Jodie!!
This is literally the first Rolex review I’ve watched. I appreciate that you didn’t put it on parade, you gave it the same review you would have an alliexpress watch....kudos! The only reason I shy from Rolex videos is it is irrelevant to me, never going to buy one. Thanks for keeping it grounded.
Another great review Jody. Having a Rolex in your collection is a special accomplishment IMO. They set the standard for the majority of watch manufacturers to follow.
I think they set the standard for the majority of watch manufacturers marketing departments to follow, but not sure of they set manufacturing standards these days. Cheers mate!
Plus the bezel marker doesnt line up at 12
Honestly, I think it's more desired than desirable. Great watch, but not what it could/should be at that price point.
Hi Jody, I was interested in this review because I collect modern and vintage Rolex among other brands and I must say I’ve never experienced these issues you show, I couldn’t help but question the authenticity of the watch, especially the lume and rotor rattle.
I have 4,5 and 6 digit reference GMT’s, Submariner and Daytona’s, don’t have rotor noises in any of them and only the tritium lumed ones have obviously lost their lume, all the 6 digit references have strong lume all night 🤷🏼♂️
As for this Gmt in question, I have the Pepsi jubilee and it suffers none of the same issues, also the watch just doesn’t look good on camera, mine are all on CZcams and they just look sharp and crisp.
Anyway that’s my two cents from a seasoned collector.
Cheers.
Hello mate! Definitely not a fake. Check the Clockbait channel for sticker peeling etc. Could it be that current Rolex just aren't as good as they could be for the money but due to cunning marketing and supply restrictions we all want them anyway?!?! 😱😱 Cheers!
Oh Jody ..ha ha ha I'm a fan of your videos and been watching for a year or more now I feel I've developed along with you on this watch journey, I have just pulled the trigger on a Rolex explorer 214270 it's my Grail watch and I'm over the moon with it ....life's to short mate I don't own many pieces Rolex Tudor Oris and Tissot plus 2 mighty casios ...all the best and keep up the great work I wish you well in 2020
I'd really like to see your opinion on the seamaster 2018 model!
Great video:). Can you review the hamilton pilot pioneer mechanical? Your thoughts are appreciated 👍
I have a Sub-c and Explorer ii and zero rotor noise. I am not a Rolex fanboy but I had a 40yr old DateJust as well and it ran like a champ, they are overpriced but you do get a heck of a tool that will do it's job for a long, long time....and keep a lot of it's value.
Fantastic review, you really showed Rolex for what they really are. Overpriced for what you get.
Alot better watches out there.
Magnificent. Best modern Rolex design and color combo. The blue and black colors on the BLNR are spot on perfect compared to its BLRO “Pepsi” twin that Rolex just can’t get right with purple and pink hues in the ceramic bezel????? Oh well as the Blue and Black looks sharper anyway. The new 3285 movement has all the modern upgrades even for the most picky movement snob.
One of those major movement upgrades are ceramic rotor bearings and all ceramic rotor bearings are noisy but then again they are bullet proof and that is the trade off. Rolex also has a more efficient escarpment to go along with that 72 hour power reserve and upgraded shock absorbing system in the new “32 series” of movements.
Nice review, expecting a BLNR within a few months from my AD. Enjoy your watches journey
Hi Jody, nice watch, great t shirt brilliant review !
ooof, so now I think the nickname Batgirl is set for sure... all it takes is one person not liking it and the name spreads like soft butter on hot toast ;)
Could have called it Robin or Alfred ... might have been worse off 🤔
The Bruce Wayne.
Love this watch. The jubilee on this is amazing!
The Bruce Wayne is a much more fitting name. I seem to see more people using the Bruce Wayne name.
I’d probably do it too (if only I had the money!) A stunning watch and fab review Jody.
GMT bezel should be 48 clicks to cater for half hour offset time zones.
I have no noticeable rotor noise in mine. My only complaints about this is that it's hard to put it into the last position to adjust the minute hand, and I wish it had a micro-adjust. The easy-link system is nice, but a micro-adjust would be better. This is minor stuff, I love my Bruce Wayne.
Great video Mr Jody , my gmt parnis batman looks similar to this ,,,cheers Shane uk 🇬🇧
I’m warming to Rolex since seeing the air king with green logo ,, love the looks of that
Nice lug bracelet match. No maxi case. Jubelee makes it classy.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't understand the reasoning for the new steel type. More corrosion resistant, softer, but easier to polish out scratches. Corrosion is easiler to polish out than scratches, so I'd rather have the old steel anyway. Not to mention you'd be polishing the new steel more often anyway because it scratches more easily
What do you think about the Steinhart ocean 39 gmt premium 500?
Great video Jody! I had wondered where Clockbait's Batman went!
Rotor noise wise, perhaps there's something wrong with it?
No mate, we compared it to Mr X's Root Beer last night and it was just as noisy. Just as new mind you, but still, not amazing for a $13.6K watch!
@@JustOneMoreWatch Ah! Well, that's certainly not as refined as you would like.
I think that the applied wonky blue colour on the GMT is inexcusable personally, I would be tempted to take mine back after spending nearly 8 grand GBP. (If I ever get one!)
You are paying for perfection after all.
@@spaced270 you'll never get one and not because you don't want one and don't like one. you'll not get one because you are afflicted with poor man's snobbery.
Great video as always, but I buy an OMEGA before I ever buy a Rolex.
May not be able to get an OMEGA with a black and blue bezzle but with OMEGA I don't have to get on a waiting list and over pay way too much for a fine quality Swiss watch.
That rotor noise is louder than I thought it would be! 31xx movements have absolutely no noise!
Yeah we cross checked it against Mr X's Root Beer GMT and it was just as noisy. Disappointing! Oh well, looks like maybe I won't drop $13K on one after all! 😂😱
@@JustOneMoreWatch Hahaha, good call. I would love for you to check out an older 5 digit model! Something tells me you would love the Polar Explorer!
Bezel play hehe, classic. Who buys a watch for its lume? It’s a lovely piece. Thanks for the review.
You should review a Tudor some time!

Nice watch and review.
I'm looking forward for review of the new San Martin submariner homage.
thats amazing! thanks for video review!
Is the GMT hand on that Rolex clock behind you actually functional?
That is a lovely watch and a great review. I''d love one and would have no issue with calling it The Batgirl , I've heard a couple of owners complain about the name but I think that tells us volumes about the owners
Hi, does the movement contain any traces of gold elements?
Thank you
Gotta say if I had to pick a Rolex I’d go for the Batgirl, always preferred it to the Pepsi bezel.....my 15 year old daughter told me she likes the Pepsi version but prefers the omega planet ocean with the black and orange bezel. Safe to say she isn’t getting either of them for her birthday
Even though I have been able to afford the odd Rolex in my time, they have never really called me especially at the price. I fully respect Rolex and what they have done and will appreciate them from afar.
Jody, have you found a less-than $1000 GMT watch that has the independent hour hand functionality? I really enjoy the look and feel of my Zelos Horizon GMT but man do I hate traveling with it because you basically have to reset the entire watch every time you change a timezone.
It's between this or the Pepsi jubilee as my 1-watch-for-life-from-Rolex. I do think however that in my more distinguished years I may opt for a fluted Day Date 36 though.
No quick date adjust and only 100m water resistance......I'll stick to my Seiko 👀
Yes, because there is a situation where anyone would actually need more than 100m.
I agree.Daft .My mrw200 h outspecs it! Crazy.
@@DM-rc4yu well , just last week myself and my bathysphere were down at 104m on the Clyde Riviera...lucky I had my 200m diver with me
I don’t think people are looking for specs when they buy a Rolex like
100m, fine. Whatever. But over $10k and you can't give us a quick adjust date?
What was wrong with the painting? I cant really tell is it the end near the triangle?
Nice Rolex wall clock, may I know where I could get one like that?
Love it - to me it’s the best sport watch Rolex ever produced (black ans blue goes with everything) and the jubilee give it a more elegant appeal... (and hide scratches perfectly) ... love it
Fully agree. This watch on jubilee is the way to go!
The power reserve is 73 hours, just tested mine :)
I find it truly annoying that Rolex doesn't use AR coatings. Aargh!
Guys, I need help. My auto watch second hand will slop every time I tilt the watch! It will move to the lowest point of gravity. I'm a newbie and I think I may did something wrong. What could it be? Is it expensive to fix? My watch is Oris 65.
Do you have any discount codes for Joma?
Hi there! Where can I get one wall watch like the one you have?
Thank you very much
Lovely thing but I'm going with a seiko or a microbrand
No thanx. I have no desire to own ANY gmt. I don't know anyone that far away. Just some friends on the east coast and I can add 1 hour to my time without another hand muddying up the dial. Besides, I'm happy with my seikos, vostoks and citizens.
It's for travelling with really mate.
The purpose of owning travel GMTs (jumping hour hand) is not the same as owning an office GMT (jumping GMT hand). The jumping hour hand is for people who travel alot, whether for pleasure or for work. Setting the hour hand without hacking the movement makes it so much easier when you're traveling between time zones.
What was the no name micro in the middle with the great Lume?
This watch is a testament to how far micro brands have come. $13000+ is just bonkers for this statement piece. It's just meh. A meh watch...
Big fan of jubilee bracelets
Did you just assume its brand?! Maybe it feels like an Omega today.
It doesn't feel like my Omega Aqua Terra. That, for example has so much AR coating that the glass is close to invisible, and he movement makes no noise whatsoever. Just sayin'!
The GMT2 is beautiful and perfectly proportioned. That rotor noise is shocking though! Thank you for another great review Jody and I loved that you gave a shout out to ClockBait :)
Its funny to see you reviewing a Rolex. 😂😂😂 What info do you have on the Blueberry Rolex?🤔🤔🤔
Another great review 👍Jodi
Steinhart should think about working on a similar clasp. One question : how will the watch travel back to London ?
I don't know. It's a pretty watch and the movement is well adjusted, but the price seems completely crazy-nuts for a mass produced watch, especially given the evident level of QC being applied. A lot of otherwise rational men who would bargain cars, houses and any other major purchases to death will roll over on their belly and beg for a Rolex because it is hard to get. Rolex are the God Kings of marketing I'll give them that. Even if their ability to manufacture superlative watches is somewhat questionable per the review, they are the unquestioned masters at manufacturing scarcity and exclusivity.
100% Chris. People queuing up for the things when they are far from perfect. We are an odd bunch eh?
A Scotsman was asked what he thought of Irish whiskey.
he replied: 'Och ey, I find it quite useful stuff, for when you run out of water for diluting Scotch...'
Funny 'Cockney' accent
This may shock you mate, but I am actually a Cockney....... Shhhh. Don't tell anyone!
Falling in love with a supermodel 😂 Subscribed to clock bait.
Crazy prices now adays.. The fact that these mass produced 6 digit new rolex models costs the same on the grey market or MORE than VINTAGE 4 digit Rolex CLASSICS like 1680, 5512, 1675, 1016 etc is just insane..
I'd take an AP I reckon. Please do a review!
It is crazy what these watches go for with the premium. If you have to pay more than MSRP, then you probably will not get value retention as the premiums for this watch are insane. I remember the days you could just walk in and buy what you wanted with a discount, I have not had Rolex watches in years but I have had a couple of them in the early 2000s and the bracelets were nowhere near as good as they are now. I think the Daytona is the hardest to get, then the GMT then the sub. I could be wrong. I also don't like the games the AD's do and make you buy a Datejust and some jewelry you will probably never need just to get a Rolex model in steal sports.
I love those. Won’t pay the flipper price though.
I know right? $13.6K is mental, double that is just plain crazy. Cheers!
Where does one get that wall clock?!
Would love it if you would review a Grand Seiko some day:)
Is there a rationale for no AR coating apart from it being the "Professional" series. In which case why would it make it unprofessional to include AR? One of those "more questions than answers" situations.
Lack of AR makes it more shiny. Catches people's attention. I don't buy the argument people are saying that AR gives off a different hue, or AR peels over time lol.
The point about the bracelet technically being a "Super Jubilee" (@~4:02) might be worth confirming. It has solid links, but in my experience, "Super Jubilee" has been more specifically applied to the jubilee bracelets with a hidden clasp. That being said, I don't think "Super Jubilee" is actually a name that Rolex acknowledges (they just refer to bracelets as having hidden clasps), so there's not a single source of truth to reference.
A very nice review.
Personally, I would never feel comfortable spending this type of money on a watch. I did not think I’m the type that is going to get more enjoyment from a very expensive item over a affordable item.
I absolutely love my Seiko 011. I am glad it wasnt too expensive when I got it
Stephen Weiler The 011 is very nice. Like the matte orange dial.
@@surfitli I may upload a video on my channel about the watch one day. The only video of a watch on my channel is a timelapse of my Agat Stopwatch
As an owner of two Rolex watches I agree 100%! I know that seems a tad insincere but hear me out. I purchased a Submariner 5513 in 1978 upon graduation of high school that set me back $278- today that Sub is worth $10k+. In 1994 I inherited my dads 18k President which is actually valued less than the sub! Here’s the catch- i don’t enjoy wearing them, too risky. They both sit in my safe insured to the max. Recently I purchased an Invicta homage that i gave to my son, and I just ordered a Parnis GMT homage for myself to wear because I love the look, and don’t fear wearing it!
H Mager I would feel the same way.
Are you a fan of The Thick Of It? If so, every time you mentioned "bat person", it made me think of the Quiet Bat People episode! You would fit in with Malcolm and Jamie in the Caledonian Mafia.
Lovely stuff as always. X
Ha! And I swear as much off camera ;) Cheers mate!
David Amor AMAZING reference 😂😂
Jody, have the giveaway winners from autumn been named? Wasn’t sure if I missed a video.
I actually like the hands on the Steinhart Batman better. I think the lume is better too. This one is really disappointing. My next big purchase is going to be the Tudor BB58.
Hi Jody,
Just sell a few dozens of your micro brand watches and you are good to go! 😉
Best regards,
Claus
Ha! At least a few dozen!
I can’t see paying the price for a Rolex. That kind of money is beyond their quality! 😏
Says the guy who can’t afford one lol. Get outta here and go back to your Invicta forum
ODAT As long as there‘s people like you who are afraid of criticizing the holy grail for their lacking quality, there‘s no reason for them to change anything.
@@Odat You got that right !!!!!!!
The slow date set is a deal breaker for people who have a watch collection - and need to set the date every time they pick up a new watch to wear on a particular day. I’d rather have a quick set date and no quick set hour. Setting the hour only takes seconds - even with no quick hour set …. But setting the date from say 1st to 25th - will take forever on this
Hi Jody, great review but to me just another dive watch looks like all the other's. Yes I know it is a Rolex but not for me. More reviews of other types of watches, Please pretty please
