    An M6 washer under the bolt-head before the large washer would probably work to create the T-bolt (i.e. stopping the bolt-head passing through the large washer) - featherboard making with the spacers is clever . . . I made mine freehand and they're a bit variable!

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  Před rokem +1

      In normal circumstances that would be the way to go, however in this case there is no room for that. When you put the washer is you get about 2 or 3 mm space to the T. The washer is about 2mm so you got only about 5mm to play with unfortunately.

    Good video Tomasz, spot on with the position of the featherboard in relation to the saw blade.
    These are great safety accessories, cheap and easy to make as you've just demonstrated. Tony

    There are ready-made bolts called Elevator Bolts. Might need to reduce the diameter of the head, but that is easily done.

    I did reply to this yesterday, but must have forgotten to submit it :( ... how about 50 x 45mm long T-slot bolts for under £10 (excluding epoxy)?
    M6 penny washer and a M6 roofing bolt works perfectly ... washer is 24.8mm in diameter so needs a small flat filed on opposite edges (which also stops it rotating in slot) and the cross part of the bolt head needs to be filed off ... a dab of epoxy to hold the two together and you have a cheap mitre slot bolt which can be tightened without pulling the bolt through the head.
    Thanks again for another brilliant video :)
    P.S. Connector bolts (for furniture) are cheaper and don't need to be filed ... I have a video of the above, search for "Cheap Mitre and T-Slot bolts"

    A miter saw could use a hood and an additional bottom sawdust suction. Then there will be no need to cut in the mask.

    Yes i would like to see the fence feather board video as i have exactly same saw. Question for you though. My riving knife seems to be out of alignment because cutting on right side of the saw wood binds on knife on left side no problems Any ideas?

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  Před rokem

      Yes, I was talking about this on my Tune Up Video I think. The bolt that holds the aluminium plate that hold the knife, you just need to try to tighten it bit more. It seems you over tightening the bolt but for me that worked. Sometimes you need to give it slack, sometimes over tighten it. But first of all take the knife out and check if its not bent. Hope it helps

    Don't the washers spin in the 'T' track when tightened? Isn't MDF too brittle to keep bending? I like the idea of using the mitre saw to make the feathers

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  Před rokem

      They don't spin, I think it because of the excess of epoxy on the washers. It's 18mm MDF so no issues with being brittle or any other issues. Works great, at the moment anyway 😅

    Hi Tomaz i notice you are using the original clearance plate on your Rage 5 table saw, i thought you made your own clearance plate.

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  Před rokem

      I did, I'm using this as I'm experimenting again with dust extraction for the saw and this one has larger clearance so more dust goes under.

    High Tomas. I have a question about the stop start button on the evelution table saw.
    I resently purchase one but there is no estop paddle on the new version, I think I remember you purchased an adaptor that stuck to the new version. If I am correct is it possible you could let me know where you purchased it. Thanks in advance. Rob.

      Hi, no, my saw had it originally. I know you can get them on ebay. But how they fit and work I'm not sure. There is a Facebook group for Rage 5S table saw, I think the chap that makes them is on that group. You could join and pop a question there about it.

    Would it be better to use 2 feather boards, 1 before the blade & 1 after the blade?

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  Před rokem +1

      No as then you are putting the pressure in the wrong place and may end up in a similar situation as explained on my video. Both pieces need to be free as they passing the blade.

    I'm a bit of a lurker but love your channel. I saw an interesting 2 directional feather board and wondered what your version might look like ... czcams.com/users/shorts7TaRZvnbilI
    BTW a few weeks ago you asked for comments ... don't change! Please please don't start filling up your videos with arty B-roll mood shots, please stick to the wordwork, cut shots and close ups of how to actually do the carpentry are always welcome but save us from high speed repetitions or time lapse. Soundtrack would be cool ... IMHO you should ignore user preference, stamp your style on it and maybe make a personal quirk out of it ... "This was the song I had my first kiss to".
