This game is a prime example of how you should remake a game. You don’t remove anything, you improve on what’s established and add more to it
Yeah, it's scary how nobody seems to take the hint. They just make a new unrelated game with a new unrelated story, and call it a remake.
Sometimes I wonder how Resident Evil 2 would've looked if it had been remade this way alongside REmake 1 instead (and RE0 had been pushed to a back burner or something). REmake 2 is great, but the give and take of its design leaves... _something_ to be desired.
CyberDragon10K I love RE2 Remake but I did want them to do it like this game. But the mechanics of that game are really engaging, I just wish they had the zapping system and that the A/B scenarios were more consistent. Annette has the same confrontation with William twice at the end which makes no sense.
Imagine if they gave Reaident Evil 2 the treatment they gave this game and RE0..? Man, that... that woulda REALLY been something special huh
@@DoppSkates RE0 treatment with RE engine 😍😍😍
Fun fact: When Barry says, “Getting cold feet already...” and that cut scene plays, you can actually try to leave again and Barry will take out the first zombie for you which will come into the dining room by itself. Pretty neat.
The crappy part though, is that his kill doesn't count, and that zombie returns if you go back to the dining room.
It´s incrediable how much technology advanced between 1995 and 2002. The graphics of the remake still hold up today.
Lisa's impact is so freaking powerful.
6:29 He's saying "What are you doing?" in Japanese.
Lol
I can't believe I just heard Kai say "leather daddy Chris"
That's probably why he hesitated before saying it, you could tell a costume like that would have made someone uncomfortable and he likely was exactly that when he saw that.
Loved that. I screamed it right after he said it and I think my neighbors heard me🤣
I wish they had left that in lol... Not like Chris didn't have a BDSM looking outfit in RE5
If You want to Even more surprised, that a look at his Instagram 👀
I just finished replaying this a few nights ago. Some of you have probably seen this before, but something happened that threw me for a loop.
I was playing real survival, as Jill. I decided to make it as challenging as possible by opting not to rescue Barry and Chris, thinking it would make the Lisa/final Tyrant fights harder.
But apparently, not rescuing Barry prevents the self destruct sequence from being activated at all, and the final boss from even happening. So I was ready to buckle down and have a good final boss fight, but instead Jill just hopped in the helicopter and flew off.
Apparently in every game I had ever played (7 or 8 times), I had rescued Barry/Rebecca. It was still lots of fun though.
Yeah same happens to me haha. I always forget and I show up to the heliport with tons of ammo and then it's over and I'm like "Oh"
8 different endings everyone always miss these ones because of rescuing their partners.
Yeah, I remember taking Barry’s revolver and it’s op. It killed the Tyrant in one shot.
0:15 Someone give this zombie a silver metal. For withstanding 2 headshots from a shotgun.
He only loses to the zombie that died to 3 shots of Barry's magnum.
That zombie doesn't get killed in Remake.
didnt get killed by Barry's 3 magnum rounds, but you can kill it later
@@bernarddelossantos8083 Yes
Well, that is the most iconic zombie in the franchise...
That zombie gets up and exits the room when you go back to report to Wesker.
Crimson Headlesses!? Glad I've never got that because it would have broke my brain with confusion.
Happened the first time i played it and i thought it was part of the game. Took a screenshot in my confusion
Happen to me on the gamecube when i heard the remaster was coming out i was piss it took my health
When are they going to make a Jill + Barry resident evil game, I'm dying to see that reunion
Seeing a new Barry is partially why I'm excited for the RE3 REmake. Also, I wouldn't mind Jill and Barry being back for RE8.
I'll wait for it while i'm eating a sandwich.
@@jilly9437 I see what you did there.
CallmeJoe With Jill’s hair back to its normal colour. That RE5 redesign with the blonde hair annoyed me.
@@jilly9437 a jibble sandwhich 🤗. (Yes, I know, jill sandwhich. But it sounds like jibble)
You called him Leather Daddy Chris and that just made my whole month. Thanks.
2:29 that dude got an email back from dante himself, that’s awesome.
Ulysses cant believe no one is noticing this
This is still my favorite resident evil game
@Bealzer Mcgraw How come?
Mine too, still playing this on my cube as the pc port was shitty lazy!
Survival horror at its finest! Ya know, before re4 came and ruined it all
@@juanzilla6436 your not lying
It is the best one
The resident evil remake has such a special place in my heart
soooooooo Lisa is kinda like Nemesis's mom in a way? huh. well, that's interesting.
also, great videos man keep up the great work!!
No he got everything wrong about the Nemesis.
The Nemesis Project's origins lie in the early to mid 1980s. Umbrella USA was pioneering B.O.W. development with the intention of supplying products that were suitable for the US military. The deciding factor on this was the issue of intelligence, rather than of raw power, as a powerful B.O.W. with limited intelligence would be unreliable. R&D projects which created the Chimera and Web Spinner were declared failures due to this issue. While the Cerberus and Hunter projects showed promise, each animal was only able to learn a few basic commands from their trainer and so were insufficient. Umbrella's bio-weapons research began to move into "Phase 3" of its research, with the creation of B.O.W.s of human-equivalent intelligence.
The Nemesis Project itself was overseen by Umbrella Europe, and aimed to complete "Phase 3" research by developing an intelligent parasite rather than an intelligent and powerful organism. This parasite would then be placed within the head of an existing B.O.W. and take over its mental functions as a replacement brain. Unfortunately, no B.O.W. in 1988 existed which could survive this process, and all test-subjects perished after some five minutes, perhaps along with the parasites themselves.
The first successful attempt took place at Umbrella USA's Arklay Laboratory that very year, when Umbrella Pharmaceuticals CEO Dr. Oswell E. Spencer personally ordered one to be shipped over. This experiment was indirectly part of the new Tyrant Project, but as no such B.O.W. had been successfully manufactured the Nemesis parasite was instead implanted within the body of Lisa Trevor, a human test subject. Due to Trevor's unique physiology which emerged from prior mutations, the parasite was rejected by her immune system and killed, with elements of its genome being spliced into Trevor's. Further investigation ruled this to be the work of the Golgotha Virus, leading to the subsequent G-Virus Project. The Arklay Laboratory made no further effort to obtain a second Nemesis parasite.
The second successful implantation within an organism took place ten years after the Trevor experiment in mid-1998. With the Tyrant Project being successfully completed in the creation of a B.O.W. of human-level intelligence, the Nemesis Project was effectively a dead-end until a decision was made for an experiment to implant a Nemesis parasite into one of the mass-produced T-103 Tyrant clones. The resulting experiment, dubbed "Nemesis-T Type", was sent out into Raccoon City with orders to hunt down five individuals, which would prove the parasites' mental abilities. No further work was done on the Nemesis Project, and no further Nemesis-T Types are known to have been produced.
@Blue Heart The Wesker's Report 2, The Resident Evil Archives databooks for exemple. A lot of those informations are also available in the Resident Evil wiki with sources attached. Some of those informations can be found in files in The Umbrella Chronicles.
More like G Bodkin's mom.
@@Wolvie1984 yeah i was going to say he was completely wrong.
The guy from Capcom that sent the email @2:30 ? That’s Reuben Langdon. He’s a stunt coordinator and the voice of Dante from Devil May Cry! An Easter egg in a video about Easter eggs!
The detail in Resident Evil Remake still stuns me to this day
Clicked on this immediately. I love love LOVE this remake so much. Thank you for another great video!!!!
The fast hunters and the crimson heads have always been my most feared enemies! Even more than the regenerators of part four!
The story of Lisa Trevor made me really sad. And i hated Umbrella more than ever after what i had to witness...!
Poor girl, poor family. But a story is great when it makes people care...!
Lisa did eventually find peace after finally being reunited with her mother so that's good right?
Chimera are mine
Hunters are the worst. I always fucking hated them. They're so annoying and they're not even that rewarding to kill either. Most crimson heads can be skipped fortunately
@@amyschildgamerlive4519 Well, if you played Umbrella Chronicles, you'd find out that she didn't actually die from the fall, rather, from the explosion of the mansion itself. So she had to endure the disturbing revelations for another hour or two before finally being put to rest
Whoaaa, I gotta say; I've NEVER seen that cutscene where Wesker goes all Martial Arts on Chris . Great stuff Ink Ribbon!
YEAH THAT ASS WHOOPING WAS DOPE
Great video Kai. This is possibly my favorite RE. I played the original back in 2002 while recovering from surgery. I just recently played through the remaster on ps4 multiple times to get platinum trophy. It really is a masterpiece.
Why am I so in love with your voice
Yeah. That voice is great.
hehe boy! XD
Because his voice sounds like Wesker's. Very charismatic!
In the secrets cutscenes part, you forgot about the one cutscene: where first zombie bursts through the door to the dining room, but it looks similar to scene when Jill lured him to Barry. To trigger this, all you need to do is wait some amount of time in the dining hall. Still great content tho, keep it up.
From what I understand the conditions are: Talk to Barry about the Blood, try to go back twice to the main hallway twice, then as you approach the door again, the zombie will go through.
Carlitonsp1 yes. I think this also allows you to get the shotgun early where Barry shows up and saves you from becoming a “Jill Sandwich”.
Yes it’s quite easy and you can perceive it in the credits.
This was in the original resident evil. It was the first thing I did in the remake.
Crap Martini Thanks for clearing up my misunderstanding. I never played the 1998 original. My first playthrough was of the REmake. Your comment explains why Ink Ribbon didn’t include it in this list. (I am still surprised that he didn’t make note of that for people who may not have known).
1:31 that death animation was later added in re4
Best resident evil game! I remember playing this when I was 11 with no internet or guides and felt like an accomplishment beating it on a rainy night
Yeah man, same with the others when they came out. Fuckin MISS when gaming waa that way.
I'm curious if the case for the Tyrant's explosion change in the HD remaster was actually intended as censorship or simply a stylistic choice to make the rocket explosion look more convincing by adding more fiery alpha effects.
8:06 I had no idea that could happen! I'm so glad this never happened for me.
CallmeJoe the tyrant explosion was so good in the original. The edited one is very unnecessary.
@@yurieu5872 I honestly prefer how it looks in the remaster, but to each their own.
Japan is extremely squeamish about that sort of thing
@@TheDirtbaggrif What, did Tyrant's pubic hair get exposed in the original or sometthing?
Not that the trivia wasn't interesting, I'm disappointed that most of the picks for this list were neither easter eggs nor secrets. This should have been called "10 facts about REmake" or something.
Amen. A lot of known facts, too.
thought the same here, too. Quite a clickbaity title
The title is "top 10 secrets and easter eggs" read the first part "top 10" that means those of us who are into Resident evil should have already known this you goobers
Maybe you just know all there is to know about this. That doesn't make clickbait
I remember back in 1995 going to my buddy's house after school we would play the original R.E. and the original Techen on Playstation for hrs & hrs we both were just blown away with the game play and the graphics back then!!!
Well, Ill go ahead and say going from Donkey Kong Country 2 (1995) to Resident Evil (1996) didnt feel wonky. It felt like a HUGE leap forward and was genuinely terrifying. Everything bout the game was terrifying. When you are scared you are not finding all available ammo, or scared to open the next door because you're running out... you know you made an impact on people who will never forget what it was like when it was new. They were still making SNES games in 1996....
man this game still looks stunning for a game from the early 2000's
I hope one day u get into the Devil May Cry series, me would like it.
Great top 10.
7:05 Chad Redfield
The dining room alt cutscenes are in the original too.
The three Resident Evil "exclusives" and Metal Gear Solid the twin Snakes is 100% the reason I had gotten and still have a GameCube.
In fact I quite fondly remember getting so excited for Resident Evil 2 remake in the same way but I'm really glad they waited because it's amazing.
Your videos are so good and that voice over omg 😍 Keep em coming!
This is my favorite Resident Evil game. I wish I could play more fixed camera games haha. Resi 2 remake is amazing but I do love the old school fixed camera.
This is the first video about RE Remake that mentions Ayumi Hamasaki, I don't recall any other video saying anything about her, great job.
I owned the European GameCube version and I can confirm it DID have the brutal Hunter decapitations, but then the later HD remaster on XB360, XB1, PS3 & PS4 had them removed ☹️
Very good detailed video on explaining every secret on one of my favourite games of all time. Hope you keep making more quality videos like this one in the future!
Im just finishing my first play through as Jill. Love it!! Crimson heads are terrifying
if Lisa is unkillable, does that mean she's still chilling in the twice over smoking crater that use to be the Arklay mountains?
No, she was killed in the mansion explosion. She's immune to bullets, poisons, and most other things that would kill a human, but no bioweapon is powerful enough to survive a blast that destroyed 750 acres of the surrounding forest.
On the matter of Lisa Trevor, her story and content were planned for the original game but but were cut. Not for time or resources, but because it gave away the science-gone-awry twist early.
Since players coming into REmake were probably already aware that Umbrella is not good people after 3 installments, they could forego concerns about the early story reveal and make the complete scenario they wanted in the first place.
This may also factor into the question of why start with remaking RE1.
I have played and completed remake many times and didn't know about some of the hidden cutscenes. Specifically Barry handing over the grenade launcher and Weskers bad ass take down on Chris in the Tyrant room
I’ve seen the one of Rebecca crying before but didn’t know specifically how to trigger it until now
This is the one game that made me fall in love with the series!!!
It will always have a special spot inside my heart.
No one:
Absolutely no one:
Ink Ribbon: Leather daddy Chris
Thanks a lot for your work, it's always a pleasure to listen to your tapes. Even as an RE fan, I learn lots of things. I really like Jill dancing at the end of the vid XD.
LOVE the remake, this was super interesting to see. Well done!
Still my absolute favorite Resident Evil game, and in my opinion the best one in the entire series. Thanks for the video!
OMG
I blushed furiously and giggled when you said "Leather Daddy Chris" 😶😅
So, will that be the source of your fantasies as you go to sleep tonight, or .....? Just ... curious.
@@SarahsKnight0 😰😶 Oh my god, stahp! You just made me blush again 😖
So, that's a yes.
Expect Bondage King Piers later.
@@matthewwilliams8267 Eh.😞
@@GothMermaidGamer I tried.
I had the director's cut for PS1 and if you go back into the main hall after wesker leaves the area you can attempt to open the door again and one of the dogs will jump in through the door and if you kill it, it will drop ammo. Probably from the S.T.A.R.S members during the pack attack. Figured I'd mention it. Great job on the channel bud, big fan.
In the REmake opening the door to the outside lets 2 dogs in, and at that point without the shotgun I didn't stand a chance against them
@@andrewstaiti554 I attempted to play the game cube version and I died instantly. I wish I still had the directors cut. Not a huge difference but I'm a fool for nostalgia.
P.s. Fuck those dogs!!
i love these top 10 videos, big thanks ink Ribbon.
They really need to get the band back together! I’d love to see Chris, Jill and Barry lured back together by a mystery character. Someone who’s been working for the last 10+ years on a plan to enact revenge on them all.
Perhaps it could be a survivor or the mansion incident... that was thought to be dead but found an experimental virus that was made by Birkin for Wesker...you know the one that Wesker used to survive the Tyrant attack.
I’d have to see who would be the most viable but Enrico seems like good candidate. He was shot in the caves but we don’t know what he got up to before that beyond the few scenes he had in Zero. He could have found that experimental virus and used it on himself after being attacked with hope that it would save him or fiddling around with something that caused him to be injected with it. It could be explained why he was not doing well in the cave even before he was shot, instead of him just being hurt and tired.
The virus has the effect of making the individual a madman with hate taking control over his thoughts and life, much like Wesker...
He was already mad and paranoid about the team before being shot, so when he wakes back up that would be his mindset. Escaping to the forest before the mansion blows up.
Then, as stated above, he plans and works for over a decade to enact revenge on the surviving Stars team members...Chris, Jill, Barry and Rebecca.
Luring then all back to a spooky mansion type environment that he has set up to to torture and test them all before he kills them or attempts to turn them all.
A little bit like Alex Wesker mixed with the overseer from Resistance.
I’m just spitballing here but I gotta say that with some real thought and polish, it could work really well and surprise the fans of the series. Oh! Yeah and at least one of them HAS to die...
What do you guys and gals think?
Feel free to shoot down the idea altogether, change something or add something. I’d love to see feedback from fans and @Ink Ribbon on this idea.
Hell yeah I've been waiting for this for a long time.
Dang it. i never hit the bell to notify me of new content. i would have been here front and center if i had. Thanks for the vid. LOVE your stuff. keep it up :3
These are more like facts, not Easter eggs
Jill getting squished is a thing in the original too. You're given a choice at taking the acid rounds (talk to Richard first) or getting the shotgun early (Barry saves you). Now if you do the shotgun early with Barry I think he Also gives you the acid rounds too. But if you do the acid rounds first you have to find the broken shotgun to get the working one.
Your channel is criminally good!
Sweet!!! I always enjoy your top 10's dude because es awesome facts. Thanks Kai, great job. 😎
it'd so weird that I searched you're channel for a resident evil 2002 Easter egg video yesterday didn't find one. Then I'm recommended one by youtube today by you're channel.
Love the vids. Keep them going ! Always love my RE fill. ♥️💔
Dude, Thank you so much for working so hard on these Great Videos!
I LOVE (almost) anything Resident Evil (excluding those terrible movies) but it's really cool to be able to spend the time I'm not playing RE learning about RE. And the fact you're such a great CZcamsr is an added bonus.
Thanks for all your hard work!!!
Hey dude! I just recently discovered your channel and are loving it. I too am a big Resident Evil fan but started with 4 like many people did. I was wondering if you’ve done any videos on the evolution on the main RE characters like Chris, Leon, Claire and Jill? It’s interesting seeing them change over the years but I was interested to see your take on it. And why characters like Jill change dramatically in appearance all the time.
i got that headless crimson head one once. i noped right out of there
It still my favorite game of all time.
Thanks for the video.
Nice video , but a point about Lisa's mother , you said that " she killed when she was escaping " but the notes in the game says another thing . As far as I can remember the main reason of Lisa's mother death was those tests that they done on her. In one of them , it was written about her weak body and she couldn't tolerate under umbrella's tests
awesome video - i didn't know about these!
My favorite game! Thanks, I love your channel
Great video as always Ink Ribbon!
Finally got around to finishing real survival mode the other night, been trying my hand at invisible enemy mode. Such an awesome game! I'm most nostalgic for this and 0, had them on ps2/ GameCube
Awesome coverage. Especially for Lisa Trevor!!
Still strange to me that this and Silent HIll 2 are considered some of the greatest horror games ever made, yet both sold under 2 million units in their initial runs.
well its horror it wasnt really a huge genre and back then its not bad sales wise. Just think there was less competition and they cost less to make.
Where i lived there was a lone game shop i went every week and that game was on the shelf with a handful of others for ages.
Is Jill punching and kicking her stationary animations? I've never seen that before.
It's my boy Ink Ribbon at it again, cool video my dude! Much love from Sweden :D
Somewhere I'd love to visit one day!
@@InkRibbon you are welcome to do so my friend :)
How'd you know I was in the mood for a RE remake secrets video?
Your content is really good. Continue the good work :3
Awesome RE channel, keep it up
Great vid new subscriber
The original PS1 game freaked me out when I first played it back in the mid 90s. I wasn't ready for the horror movie feel of it. It was a whole new experience at the time.
The intro cut scene was a homage to the opening scene in Lucio Fulci's Zombie Flesh eaters, The main zombies stalking you through the mansion are a homage to the graveyard Zombie from the 1990 remake of George A Romero's Night of the living dead by tom savini.
Great Vid :)
I’ll love them both. I’m old school, but the new stuff is very cool. Thanks
I’m happy we have Leather Daddy Chris on RE5
5:27 that was also the case in the original RE1, that's why you could still get the broken shotgun as jill as she can get the big guns much earlier than chris
This was kinda scary, I just finished the game and you posted this video, thanks!
7:41 That graveyard lockup glitch also happens even with other costumes. May not be considered to be glitch but instead of either the disc, hardware or hard drive issue. It happened to me once.
I love your page bro!
A lot of those bonus scenes that you showed can actually be done with the original resident evil. I'm not sure if it's the original original version of resident evil that you can do it or just a director's cut but I can say I've done it. there's also a bonus cutscene that you can do on very easy on both versions where you meet the first zombie without seeing Kenneth.
So cool great video! Loved it!
Can you please also do the revelations series please! Also awesome video love this channel!
Playing Revelations right now 😎
TBH I still like the original just as much as the remake and the nostalgia factor is just an added bonus. It still plays fine IMO and the only thing I miss in OG RE1 & 2 is the quick turn.
Re1 remake still looks really good, it’s noy winning awards or anything but it’s much nicer to look at then some of the other games that came out at the same time
Trivia about display mode (Wide vs Original) that many players probably don't know (or ignored) :
This game was originally designed for a classic 4:3 screen aspect ratio.
Unfortunately, the wide-view mode is just a simple zoomed-in version of the 4:3 (so that it can fully fit the 16:9 wide screen).
So instead of giving us more view (like in most full 3D games), we actually see less on wide-view mode, because some of the image (top and bottom part) are cut off / cropped (like about 20%)
This won't be a big deal for a full 3D game with free / movable camera, but on a fixed camera game like this, those cut off parts will never be visible to the player, which IMO is a bit of waste for those beautiful pre-rendered scenery. Also, with original view (in some areas) we can spot moving zombies earlier because of the larger view.
But yes, it's also a waste of screen space if we use the original 4:3 mode on a wide screen (the black bar on the sides of the screen).
Congratulations man, this video is 10/10!
But, when you show the nemesis face again just give us a little "hint", you know? You almost kill me hhahaha.
Vlw mano
Legit just finished this again yesterday. Now to remothered
You forgot the additional cutscene in the beginning where you can make the zombie come into the dinning room and Barry shoots and pops his head.
There's another dining room cutscene. If you try to go back to the main hall once again after Barry's line abou cold feet, the zombie from Kenneth's hall will automatically enter the dining room.
Another curious thing: in one of Trevor's journals, he writes something on November 31. November only has 30 days. It probably is a mistake, but Capcom could claim it happened because Trevor was already going crazy at that time in the mansion.
I would like to thank you for mentioning my blog! If I hear any news about face models, I will post about it :)
Good work man.
Great video, I'm playing this game right now.( chris redfield) One of my favorite re games, In my opinion this probably the best re game
Even though this is my favorite RE game here are a few things I wish they would have added/changed.
- option to take Jill's barret off and on/ bandana for Chris
- include character head movement like Jill in RE3 when she walks past certain things/enemies
- have option to skip door load animation and/or change it to normal door opening animation like RE4.
- include a cannon scenario that includes all characters escaping at same time. No character gets locked up. Chris and Jill meet at some point but decide to split up again.
- lets you unlock a 3D rotation camera angle option post game
- unlock lightsaber in post game that actually lets you cut enemies parts off (heck, silent hill 3 a lightsaber)
- changed the way Tyrant dies. Not just stands there like a obvious video game model in the middle but dies exactly where he stands in the heliport.
- unlock concept art/ 'making of' videos/character 3D viewer
-unlock 'room explorer'. Take the camera ANYWHERE in the game. Zoom in and out. With choice of music in background.
Best RE-Game EVER!!
Ps. "Leather Daddy Chris" = Terminator CHRIS!
