Two things I noticed in Separate Ways too, when you go back to the castle. If you throw a flash grenade when partnered with Luis, Ada will warn him to close his eyes. Also when you split up to go find the ingredients, if you look back Luis will wave goodbye before closing the door.
1. Leon will occasionally rub his injured shoulder from RE2 after rolling or jumping through a window.
2. Leon will also hurt his back If he catches Ashley while she's wearing armor.
3. While Ada is returning from the cemetery the ganados won't be aggressive because of the effects of the bell, unless you attack them.
Dude I did not catch on to the shoulder rub being from his gunshot from RE2 you learn something new everyday
And crowbcat called it "soulless".
If you dont kill the group with glasses, another few will come out if the coffin shack.
@@Spit1990 This is one of the best remakes of all time and you can see the love and care in every asset and action in this game.
I played the og back on Gamecube and feel offended reading this and I don't even know who that is.
@schizzo8959 he was once esteemed for his style of videos, showing the shortcomings and bullshit in games.
Idk if he's uploaded since, but until that video, he was very much respected.
I can see the points they tried to make, but you have to go out of your way to make the game look bad.
Unfair sometimes, but definitely not WORSE than the original or soulless.
I wish them the best, and I genuinely hope they post more proof of nonsense in the gaming world. He could start with how the graphics in COD have regressed recently.
One neat detail that I've noticed is when you sit on the throne as Leon. The text doesn't just pop in, it appears letter by letter like the original.
One change I didn’t even think about until I met Luis’s voice actor is that in the original game they used Mexican Spanish which didn’t make sense because they were in Spain. They made sure to use Castilian Spanish instead this time. The voice actor (who already knew Spanish) learned Castilian Spanish for the roll.
Now that's dedication. My family is Caribbean latino and their Spanish is damn near a different language than Caribbean or south American Spanish.
For the majority of playerbase this makes exactly 0 difference, the amount of players who will tell that the original Luis speaks with Mexicna Spanish accent is close to 0. What MAKES the difference however is the quality and entertainment value of voice acting, which the original Luis VO provided plentiful. I can't say the same for remake.
@@erhiueQWEF Dedication is finding a skilled and competent voice actor first and foremost , not which ethnicity the voice actor is.
@@cuttrogueI don't think Luis was bad in the remake. Krauser, Saddler and Ada were atrocious though
@@Walamonga1313 He wasn't bad I agree but I like the og better.
The best is the Ganado wearing Leon’s stolen jacket in Separate Ways. 😂
And 100% agree about adding a suppressor for a new game+ bonus or something. It would have been fun.
That blew my mind😂
Dude blew himself up before I seen anything. I just found the jacket on the ground.
@@NukeCaulfield haha same, that happened to me on my first playthrough.
If you start a new game or NG+ and manage to see him before he dies, Ada will say something like "That's Leon's jacket..."
Lmao idk why it's so funny that a ganado stole Leon's jacket🤣 I love little details like that.
25:20 in Separate Ways, before Ada boards the ski lift, you can look down and see the truck that Ashley drove in the original.
Actually Ada's Elite Knife STARTS with Infinite durability, the upgrades affect its damage and speed.
NERD
@@tonysmith5566 Nope, they're just adding new info here, like the others ;)
I bought this DAY ONE. Absolutely don’t regret it. This is 100% the best of all RE remakes. It takes away un-needed fat, and trims down/expands the game in the BEST ways possible.
I bouggt it before day one. To be fair I've never had money to preorder games until this year, but so far I've only preordered bangers (RE4make, Armored Core 6 and Fatal Frame 4)
I miss the lava room in the castle
And it doesn't replace the original. Played them back to back, and they are different enough to be their own experience, and not spoil the other
This game doesnt have me at the edge of my seat as RE2R does..i think i only experienced 2 jump scares in this game. Im not done, I just finished holding off the hoard in the house with Luis. Its a great game so far, but I think RE2 is way better than this.
@@japposaurusrex see, the more I see these comments the more I wonder if people really played RE2O or RE2R- because RE2R fucked up how the zapping system would change subsequent playthrus and it just- idk- after playing it again recently I just would’ve rather played RE2O. It is so ahead of it’s time in terms of how it played on both characters stories (A/B scenarios)- and for being a game that my dad played and then showed my brothers and I? That was dope as hell, on top of RE3O being better than RE3R- i just don’t see how RE2R is considered better than the original tbh.
Just finished this remake, what a fun time! Love all the easter eggs.
Your gonna love separate ways
18:55 If you managed to get past the Garrador without killing it, then Ashley won't follow you if you go back down, there's no extra dialogue unless you then kill the Garrador which produces the same dialogue.
Hello Kai. Great video as always. Some nice details in here I didnt know about.
For the easter egg at 20:54, these items you pick up as Ada all have symbolic relevance to Leons campaign. As you pointed out theres Krausers cap on a ganado. Theres also Leons jacket on a ganado, but lastly the pair of glasses on the ganado making his way to the church from the village. Those glasses belong to the spanish police driver who was with Leon in the intro. I just really liked how all these items had neat significance. 😁
the lava room dragons were added to the water room, one of each beside the walkways you crank and ashley cranks up, but no lava clearly 😂 the truck section was replaced with the wrecking ball section, but it’s essentially the same thing. the clock tower was still there, and significantly improved with instead of being jammed, they merged it with the elevator section before salazar and it “jams” by stopping when enemies jump to the platform. bigggg fan. the only thing really completely cut because it just didn’t make sense was the ganado claw machine 😂
Nice point, this comment is underrated
I mentioned this in another video a few months that someone posted, but I'm not sure if this would really be an easter egg, just nice detail I noticed when playing through the Remake. I also think you can see it in the OG as well. In the boss fight with Bitorez Mendez, more specifically his 2nd phase, he looks like the insignia for the Los Illuminados, or very close to it. The way his body looks and the limbs coming out of his back has about the same looks of the Los Illuminados insignia.
I always took it as a subtle nod to the insignia but not a full on easter egg. More like a remainder that all of this is a cult worshipping divine figures, so it's logical for one of their representatives to embody the shape of their insignia when they mutate.
"It's not THE Los Illuminados"
Actually, Los Illuminados is a proper noun so there is nothing wrong with putting "The" before it.
23:51 I love that Hunnigan has a post-it reminding her about dispatching the chopper, I bet she was waiting for the weather to improve, so dilligent of her!
I love knowing that even the developer of the RE4 remake wasn't exactly into the idea of a remake since the original RE4 is a masterpiece on its own. Both versions hold up and I'm happy to know that's the general consensus among the gamers and the development team!
Why do you care so much? You want to be secure in your opinion that much?
@@sugoi9680Why do you care so much? You want to be secure in your opinion that much?
@@davidthewaffle7673 Hey I didn't say it
@@sugoi9680 You literally stated your own opinion in response because you cared too much and are insecure
@@davidthewaffle7673 I did no such thing. Imagine trying to psychoanalyze someone then failing because you can't read lol.
A small secret detail. I noticed that was also from the canceled E3 version of RE4...
And Ada's campaign in separate ways when she gets infected, the hallucinations have something of a blue tint to them.
This is reminiscent to the fact that in the old build of RE4 when Leon was infected with the progenitor virus... Anytime he would hallucinate the screen had a blue tent but would return to an amber color signifying the hallucination of it had ended.
I've spent so many times, so many hours of both OG and REmake 4. I love the call backs, the easter eggs, game play and the DLC. The guns are so much fun to use.
Also, I will mention, that the Skull Shaker shotgun and the Sentinel 9 handgun are references to past or cut weapons for Resident Evil games.
Skull Shaker is a reference to the lever action shotgun since OG RE3 as a weapon that Jill collected the parts for.
The Sentinel 9 is a reference to a cut weapon that was to be the starting handgun for Leon in RE6 but for some reason it was cut and Leon was giving the Wing Shooters.
Leon uses the sentinel 9 in some of the cg movies
Kai forgot to mention during the speedrun skips section, during the rampart part of the castle, if you throw grenades through the holes in the doors you can destroy the weight on the other side and bypass 10 minutes of side pathing which gives you a good amount of breathing room time wise when going for S+ runs
You can do it without a grenade
@@Zir0_135 fair, but its tricker, and throwing a grenade helps save time
@@Gojiro7 the gun method is easy once you learn it , I get it first try every time, and I would rather save a grenade for the goat head in chapter 9
Actually, the idea of having silencers in RE4R is a very good one! I like how metal gear solid 3 handled it. You could collect silencers that would break when you used them too much. That’s survival horror as hell
Yes or even implement the ability to craft silencers like in The Last of Us 2.
Ada's elite knife actually starts already having infinite durability, but it's damage is comparable to a kitchen knife. It's exclusive upgrade gives it more power, if I'm not mistaken it goes from 0.70 to 1.40.
Other things that were missing from the original RE4 are the Mine Thower weapon, getting a free Rocket Launcher in one part of the castle, the block arrangement puzzle during the Ashley segment, destroying the large bug nest to get small treasures, & the Assignment Ada Campaign
The bolt thrower ammo can be equipped to make it a mine. Thrower sort of thing.
They also removed the Krauser boss fight from Separate Ways mode. Would've been fun to fight him as Wesker since the ending revealed Wesker retrieved Krauser's body after Leon killed him.
Another thing: Ada's tactical black costume was removed. She wore it during Assignment Ada and also during the main campaign if Leon wore the R.P.D. uniform, I believe.
@@tumulovermelho93they have to remove the Krauser one because Krauser's whole lore is changed, he and Ada never met once.
Talking about remakes... There are 3 maps for Left 4 Dead 2 (steam), created by Roku (I think) that re-create the RE1, 2 and 3 games. This maps are AMAZING, specially 3. It'll be really great if you play them and stream them!!
By the way, great video, as always.
Not too long ago I went to L4D workshop and searched for a Resident Evil based campaign but didn't find anything, are those maps you're talking about on the workshop or somewhere else?
Really love your videos Kai! This was a solid one, didn't expect all the tips and tricks. Much appreciated!
Super thorough man good stuff I didn’t know about at least half of the things you mentioned.
I love this game. Probably safe to say that it’s my favorite video game of all time. It’s so replayable and I have a blast just rexploring and blasting down enemies
I recently just completed the main story, and got cat ears + hand cannon and it's been awesome. Really enjoy the gameplay mechanics in this game and the pace of it. This video made me excited to try out separate ways!
Dude that video was awesome!!! So much useful information and a ton of fun to watch! Thank you!
I think we can all agree that this is The Best remake (Yes, Re 2002 is second best now)...But as much as I Love this game I still have a soft spot for the original... I absolutely loved the original Salazar and hate the new one... Although og was cheesy, I can't help enjoying Leon and Salazar taunting each other... And I was somewhat disappointed that the two routes after the cabin fight was re-worked... I was kinda hoping for the same treatment, only this time instead of El Gigante there would be something else, much menacing... Still, I'm really really glad with this remake after Ada's DLC, they surely kept the good things intact ❤
27:56
Hide commands weren't removed actually there are still sections in the game where you can tell Ashley to hide like the bella sisters area
The best hidden feature of the VR mode is being able to dual-wield knives. The guns are a given, but what isn't made obvious is the fact you can slot knives to the hip and shoulder weapon slots too. Grab your infinite knife and either the combat or krauser knife and go to town on enemies, stabbing them over and over literally as quick as you can move you hands.
Some genuinely helpful tips there on number 8- that's gonna be great for me on the harder difficulties. Cheers! 😃
Excellent video. Now i just want to watch these for every Resi, the full tips and unlockables
The knife combos make this game so fun
Excellent video! I enjoyed it ❤
Great job like usual Kai
Ashley’s section felt like a nod to Clock Tower and I love it!
That spanish tough 10/10 lmao
If they remake Code Veronica I really want them to add in a separate ways scenario for Wesker. Like a prequel to Claire waking in the prison Play as Wesker during his mercenary attack on the Island and the way he fights in mercenary mode from this would be perfect since he has those powers. I think if they added that it would be awesome because they would remake the game change some stuff but also give us extra content as well. I'm jus saying because that reminded me of how I would see them using him if they did that based on how he fights in that mode for 4.
Luis MIGHT appear in Code Veronica.
"Wow, I had no idea there were so many hidden gems in the Resident Evil 4 Remake! 😱 Thanks for compiling this list and shedding light on these intriguing secrets and easter eggs. It's always fun to discover new things about such a classic game.
👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 excellent video, Kai. Liked and saved 😊
@27:17 When you play resident evil dead aim, there's a boss called pluto. He's blind and mostly follows and attacks you if you shoot it. Silenced hand guns makes that boss fight so much easier.
It's crazy how much time goes into these games. Hearing that the development for RE4R began in 2021 was crazy considering that's when Village was released and everyone was talking about the duke referencing the merchant. If you would've told me that RE4R was being developed in 2021 I wouldn't have believed it. Also glad that the team that worked on RE2R did this game as well, perhaps that's why it was received so well.
I was one of those people who said RE4 didn't need a remake (because I thought the original was already great, minus the QTEs), while I still hold true to that I'm really glad I finally got the reamake as I absolutely love the game. Thanks for the shortcut tips, I had no idea you could skip certain areas.
Let's just hope CV is next for a remake.
I would love a Code Veronica remake but it really pisses me off that they skipped part 1. I have to assume they made this stupid decision to skip it because there is already multiple versions but so fvcking what! None of them are relevant! They are all like the old style which is total shit!
I know, few months, but what's wrong with the QTEs in the oryginal?
@@kiwamicorps The majority of them if you fail them it's an instant game over. I think all major cut scenes that have QTEs will give you a game over if you fail them.
@@Kakeen so it's like I was thinking. People don't like them, because they're bad at them. Which is funny, because remake have some QTE, just not on cutscenes. Best example is Separate Ways and lasers. You'll die if you fail and once you have to push two different buttons. It is easier, but that's still QTE. I think DLC had much more of these, than the game. Also, you're probably die in chapter 2, when they push the rock on you.
I have two problems with that. In some cutscenes, you're just watching, or have less interactions in game.
Second, knife fight. Is cutscene cool? Yeah, but you're just watching, and that's not the only one like that. I like more the one, where Leon is trapped. Is fight with Krauser ok? It od...but.
Entire second fight with Krauser is the same. It's nothing special now (entire second fight is worse than og one, but that's off topic).
@@kiwamicorps For it's time QTEs were new and I guess somewhat engaging. I can see the appeal of them but I'd rather take damage instead of dying for making a mistake. What made it worse was that the button combination wasn't the same the next time around. I mean granted the button combinations were the same i.e. sometimes you have to press A and B at the same time but next time it would be X and Y.
While true 4 remake did have a couple QTEs they didn't kill you most of the time, the boulder one you mentioned it caught me off guard and I didn't press the right button because honestly I wasn't expecting it and luckily it didn't kill me, just damaged me. You also mentioned Ada's laser section is an instant death if you mess up the button prompts but at least it's only one button you have to press and it's always the same. That section still stresses the hell out of me, what's worse if you fail it on professional you have to start the whole chapter again.
Been waiting for this🎉❤
Love your cosy channel❤ hope you play the new resident evil clone you talked about on this channel. Do a full playthrough when its out
The kendo print on the SG-09R is basically a print done by kendos older brother joseph kendo. He was the one who designed the samurai edge and the SG-09R handgun
One thing these remakes have definitely brought to light. You don’t have to create a whole new game and storyline you can take what you have and improve it and re-release a refined version where fans criticism can be turned into improvements. I think they did well with this, and they have so much content to improve, I dare say a remake of a remake does not sound crazy, rather an updated revision. The resident evil world is limitless, and the possibilities are endless.
In the original, despite the Killer7 being named after Killer7, Leon will only do a Dan Smith pose with the Handcannon if you were on the pause screen. In Killer7, Dan Smith holds his gun behind his head.
It has also been theorized that the Regenerators are based off of the standard enemies in Killer7, as they are practically naked, "unkillable", and have weak points that are invisible to the naked eye.
Also, yeah, I'm one of those people who was hella sad when I saw that the PRL wasn't in the remake.
My favorite secret is using subtitles to find those clockwork castellans a lot easier, since it generates subtitles for their inner workings.
Ada with Cat ears is perfect!!
My favourite "Separate Ways" easter egg, is that Ada's end of chapter music (where you see stats, save, etc) is a remix of the save room theme from Resident Evil 2 in Leon's A Scenario where he carries her from the train after the tyrant injured her.
The interaction between Krauser and Leon mention Javier mission
Here’s another Easter egg if your in the shop the merchant will hum the safe room theme.
Just a minor correction 🙈 6:54
Plaga Guadaña = "Scythe Plaga", not Guard Plaga.
Guard is "Guardia" in Spanish.
Thanks for the funky content brother 🎉🎉🎉
Awesome video 😎👊
Awesome stuff as always! Two things I wanted to point out that weren’t mentioned here:
1. I think the hallucination mechanic for the U-3 in separate ways is also a reference to the Hookman in E3
2. wearing any of the sunglasses accessories allows you to not flinch during flash bangs, which is great for those S+ runs 🙏🏼
Amazing work as always, I always look forward to your vids!
I played this DLC is so great i love it.
Now have been playing the main LEON and ADA storyline chronologically by pausing and switching gameplay walkthrought. Is very interesting.
Tips that i used to do when i was a kid and still works in the remake. Always use shotgun on shield cultist, one shell cause it destroy the shield but doesn’t work on metal one on the island section since its bullet proof.
At 17:50 I feel like the way he sits down on the throne might be a reference to the bad ending in the first Streets of Rage video game when you play as Axel or Blaze. I could be wrong but look it up. It's surprisingly noticeable
Omg seeing the PRL unlocked a childhood memory. I miss it now and wish it was in the remake.
Funny trick. Unlocking S+ in professional unlocks all the lower difficulty stuff as well.
RPGs also work on the Island AA gun.
Player is guaranteed 2 gold eggs. One for selling on the chicken island during chapter 3. 4? The other is by the painting of salazar. It's a treasure unlocked by the cube. Can also sit on the throne and a chicken will lay a vrown egg to throw at the painting. Might take a few tries as the chicken has to be calm.
I was so happy to find out that the rolling rocks killed Leon. Because some rocks roll in certain other areas and they don't hurt Leon. Like the El gigante fight. Or during the ambush en route to find Luis in chapter 2. 1?
El gigante's sleeping area has a file and a velvet blue.
The player can see the claw machine. The camera has to be pointed down. In the area where Ashley cranks a bridge and can dispose of the Regenrator chasing Leon. The player passes through the room, it's where the briefcase is sitting on a top of a cluttered "small office space". I don't know how to describe it.
When Ada is on the church roof, in the top/bottom (can’t remember) left corner you can see Mendez carrying Luis to the shack cellar.
I don't know if this has been patched or if it can even be considered a bug but in Separate Ways when Ada is looking for Luis at the factory, you can become invincible at the moment the female chainsaw freak is about to kill you by turning the valve near the entrance and her attack will go through you and not kill you. It's useful as it allows you to skip killing all the enemies at the factory specially in Professional mode by just running to the exit.
This game just keeps bringing the goods. And that's all good
One great detail I found while messing around Photo Mode is that when you reload the Punisher, the ammo type in the mag is actually different then other handguns in the game. The rounds are pointier.
Excelent video, Kai
I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere else: When fighting the two Gigantes with Luis, if you kill the armored one first, Leon says "Now for the naked one!"
also if you kill both of them before he gets back, he says "aww you finished without me? 👉👈
The game is so much addictive man, every time I see someone mention it for Easter eggs or secrets can’t help but boot up the game again 😆😆
After playing through the main game and separate ways, I still don't know who blew over the tower in the village?
Hey Ink Ribbon I know some people may not congratulate me for my efforts but I finally did the impossible by unlocking those Cat Ears
I dont know if you spotted that the chapter end music in Seperate Ways is a remix of Ada's theme from the OG RE2
Ada getting hallucinations during 2nd phase of Verdugo battle is a callback to the E3 2003 Hallucinations build demo of RE4 or famously known as the "Hookman" version.
I just got out of my depression & finally opened the game up & completed it. Took me a week. Threw in a couple hours everyday. I liked it. 8/10
There is NO way I can do 99% of these. I'm not good enough to get an S rank in anything. Great video, though. Thanks for the extra info. Now I know what to look for.
I noticed the doors after I shot one. I miss it. That was one cool part. I love shooting things and having them fall apart. Subscribed!
Yay another ink ribbon video
I didn't get one of those Resident Evil themed PCs from them, but I did get a pretty decent one just recently.
You can hit the Church-Bell in the Village even without a Sniper Rifle. It just takes a lot of attempts and a lot of Skill.
my favorite is in Separate Ways where Luis lost his key to open a door, referencing a scene where Luis dropped the antidote in the original game, with the same animation too. It's so funny to me because that was such a pointless scene in the original game, and so out of character Ashley wanted to leave Leon and follow Luis in the scene.
The cumbersome battle ship sequence from original Separate Ways also didn't make it in and that's okay
22:46 if ur speedrunning u can crouch as the jumpscare happens and she won’t stop moving like she does normally. It saves like 3 seconds but still
8:45
I was a big fan of the *Merchant,* literally my favorite part of the original.
And you have no idea how much pissed I am that they switched his iconic voice for.. *Kano.*
Now he's just a generic Australian guy... that for some reason works in Spain!
This video feels like you’re describing everything in the game that we already know just from playing it, rather than secrets and Easter eggs
12:10 you see I was actually able to get S plus rank on all the mercenaries before the new stuff came out and then after a while of using the new characters I knew it was gonna be very easy to get S plus with Weser so I saved him for last and that’s how I was was able to get this outfit
A continued easter egg is when Leon holds his back after catching Ashley in armor.
Never knew about the beetles. Got something new to look for.
Honestly, I still prefer JJ over the Crossbow Ganado. He wasn't as scary as Dr. Salvador or Garrador but he was hella intimidating.
Still can't get over a fact that Separate Ways is longer than RE3 remake
21:31
I think that handgun is custom made by Joseph Kendo, Robert Kendo's bother. And Leon's SG-09 R (Silver Ghost) is not only remake from OG RE4, But that compensator add in the gun look similar in OG RE5 teaser where Christ Redfield armed with Silver ghost attach with compensator too.
I thought the chest and key thing was obvious but honestly I had no idea about the destructible wall in Separate Ways with the laser rooms
A well compiled video! Still a lot of stuff I didn't know about this game, mostly the skippable sections. 😢
If you do the Ashley stuff out of order instead of compensating like every other game in the series, it just soft locks, there’s an Easter Egg I never wanted to find 😂
Thank you👍🌹
Re4 Remake is the first ever game i Pre-ordered. Like man buy it with my own money is hit different and feel time does move quick. The best Re Remake so far! I really hope they will keep improving with the Remake. Hope Code Veronica will be next.
I think supressors would of been a great way to add more attachments to the game.
You got stocks, laser, and scopes. Supressors would of been a great mechanic.
You could sit in the chair in the original
you still can
Spent over 200 hours on this bad boi, game of the decade for me
RE4 for the Oculus is a must play.
There are TWO guaranteed golden eggs, not one. One on the chicken farm by the lake. The other is in Salazar’s throne room by returning with the cube puzzle item and using it on the box close to the chickens.
I saw the silhouette of the title and I said: yes. Yeeessss. Finallyyyy
The design of the pirates the shooting range are a reference on Capcom's old arcade game Pirate Ship Higemaru
