I know I'm in the minority here, but I had a blast with RE5! Especially playing co-op with friends. I played and beat that game more times than I can remember 😁
Y'know I always did love Jill but hearing those unused voice clips just makes her more awesome, and helps bring a human and comical side to Chris as well.
In RE2 Remake (not sure if it's in the original), there's a note about Chris having fun or something like that making funny comments which Claire gets to read. Claire comments about it: "This does not sound like Chris". Just thought it'd be interesting to throw that in.
Actually Wesker uses his Samurai Edge once in the game. He points it to Chris' head in the plane scene to kill him just before Sheva interrupts the standoff they have. Always liked how he kept his gun all those years so he can use it to take revenge on his former partner and greatest enemy.
RE5 was the first Resident Evil game I played. My father had downloaded the demo of the game, and thought it was great, so when he got the game, he called me over, and we played through the whole game together. It was a blast, and I love the game simply because of how fun it is, and for being an awesome game to play with my Dad. As time went on, I became a Resident Evil fan. So now I can really understand why so many people disliked the game. To an extent, I can agree with them, but I'll always have a soft spot for this game.
Wyatt Webb It's just like leon and claire in the original re 2 till fans start shipping them and then we end up a remake 2 with claire and dmb lines awkwardy flirting with leon in a zombie outbreak.
I remember the devs mentioning a hydration mechanic where you would hallucinate if dehydrated. They also mentioned dark to light and vice versa mechanics where you would have limited vision temporarily when transitioning.
I get what people say about not liking RE5 but i still think it's the best coop game of all time, i've completed it over 20 times with friends and i never get bored of it. The only thing i don't get is why people who love RE4 despise 5 since they are really similar, just one has coop and is brighter. Regardless, if you have only tried the game alone i'd suggest going through it with a friend, it's a completely different game and a ton of fun. Also it has wesker at his best, so there's that.
They aren't similar, in many different ways. I think about the main thing in common is similar mechanics, more so any other titles. That's about it though tbh

I don't understand why people consider 4 to be so scary cuz to me the only parts that were scary were the ones with the regenerators. The aiming was terrible with a controller and it kinda felt too slow. Not saying re5 is the best tho, i just enjoy it more than 4 due to wesker's cheesiness and how good the gunplay felt.
@@danialyousaf6456 I hated the inventory system with a passion and honestly that was enough to turn me off from it being better than 4. On top of the the VA is pretty bad and not in a so bad it's good way either but just really bland. Sheva was also a really lame character and same with weskers girl sidekick. It also just missed a lot of little things like all the guns having a unique special upgrade for instance. Also every boss fight is ass except for the weaker fight that is supposed to last 7 minutes

Sure it got annoying at times especially when the AI was standing around doing nothing and got killed, but i kinda enjoy playing it occasionally. Never really liked how u aimed in re4 tho. That and some parts in it felt weird to me.
I agree it was a fun game but I would really like to see a RE 5 Remake that was closer to the original concept. Chris solo with Barry Jill and the rest of the BSSA backing him.

Like how they included stuff in RE2 Remake from the unreleased game.Remake had a lot of good material but in a remake 5 could some interesting stuff without the two player mode.
RE5 was okay as a Resident Evil game, but FANTASTIC as a co-op experience. One of my favorite memories is this game turning an afternoon chill-sesh into an overnight marathon with a best friend. SHEVA SHEVAAAA. CHREEEEEIS.

Would've loved to play RE 4.5, especially with the ideas behind the mirages where sometimes enemies would be hallucinations to up the fear factor. That being said, the RE5 we got has a special place in my heart so I won't judge it too harshly.

I love RE5, the only reason my brother and I got it was because it was co-op, and we loved it, got our first Platinum trophy, and it welcomed us in to the world of Resident Evil, a franchise I now consider to be one of the best. Though I love a lot of the original concepts if it didn't change then I would have never got it and I probably would have never played any within the franchise.

I remember watching that original RE5 Trailer so many times, and re-reading the article detailing about how you'd have to go inside buildings and shady areas to avoid overheating in the African Sun. It sounded fucking incredible.
Even after all these years, Resident Evil 5 is my guilty pleasure, I have finished this game even with my dad, very fun coop game, but of course, it has nothing in common with the original survival horror games.
Wow so much new interesting info. Originally re5 was not going to be coop, more similar to other games: Merchant, Tyrants, zombies, Barry etc... Seems like they added Sheva as a playable character to counter the racial uproar after the trailer came out. Thank you!

I quite enjoyed RE5 as I treated it as an action game with horror elements (as it should be) rather than vice versa. Also, I never had any problem with Shiva. It all comes down to smart item management, which is par for the course with most RE games, and which I guess I've grown accustomed to over the years.
I am one of those RE fans who happens to love both the kinds of RE games and not just the classic ones, even though Code Veronica will be my most favorite of all time always XD

It has one of the best stories that tells you about the origins of Umbrella, Wesker, Progenitor... How the hell is it an awful RE game? lol It is more RE than 4 that's for sure. RE isn't just about a genre... Not to mention that RE5 is technically one of the most polished games in the series.
@@MatiasHPR Story handling in RE5 was indeed very good, and it needed to be as it concluded the Albert Wesker saga. But as far as being true to the feel of what a RE game should be, it didn't stay true. Good action game, very fun, but a lot of what people expect from a RE game were absent. I feel if you took the same game but with new chars, story details, etc, it would've received less criticism without the RE label on it.
2:21 I've been playing lot of RE5 lately and I can confirm that this audio is present in the game, during the second Wesker fight when you have to turn lights off.
I personally deeply enjoyed multiplayer because me and my brother could play together at the same time it was so fun. The whole game was fantastic in general
Re5 is a perfect example of a game that wasn't so great on paper but was saved by an awesome online community and fun co-op gameplay. Some of my fondest xbox 360 memories were playing co-op and making friends with people around the world on this game.
RE is one of my favorite RE games and can replay it over and over again. I like the co op aspect and I don’t know why people had a hard time with Sheva. She didn’t cause me too much grief and proved to be more helpful than burdensome. You just have to know when She should cover you and when to send her out guns blazing. The best part about this game is its 2 player couch co op or online co op
RE5 ends the true RE plot started by Chris Jill and Albert. It has a funny gameplay but NOTHING in common of Survival Horror. Im so disappoineted about how it should have been the whole story: Chris Barry rescue Jill and then,revenge S.T.A.R.S. killing their ex captain Albert. So epic Really great video as always!

the re5 hate is unreasonable. re never took it self too serious. it always had a b-movie asthetic and in re5 it really took it to the next level. i love r the various levels in the chapters that feeel different and also look distinct. cool scenes, fun&dumb action (boulder punching) and weskers super cheesy dialogue. i just love it and i stand by it, re5 is a great game, and thats why it sould extremely well. (except the el gigante level on professional, thats just straight garbage.)
That 4.5 look very interesting, and I think the game could still implement Co-op in it. It could work if they make the world like RE 4. A semi open world with paths that sometimes require you to separate from Sheva.
1.) Wesker does have his Samurai Edge. I've been shot by it enough times to know. 2.) The giant is called Ndesu in this game. Don't be lazy. Plus, originally Chris was supposed to go against like fifteen Ndesu. 3.) Chris' arms were originally made a lot bigger than they are in this game.
She wastes bullets, then wants yours or takes them when you need them. You'll be slightly injured and she'll heal you. She watches you ALL THE TIME. And her overall AI sucks. Ashley isn't a fighter and is a straight up NPC. As for Outbreak, those games were really ahead of their time, and as such they didn't always work too well. Plus, if you solo mode-ed Outbreak, the others were in a way NPCs that kind of helped you. If you were able to get online with three other competent people, it wasn't so bad.
I'm a big fan of RE 5, its one of my favorites because I can replay it over and over afán and still enjoy it. I love the co op and it's fun with couch co op. It's a good game.
You can actually hear those Wesker dialogues from #9, I heard them a couple of time while I was playing it, you trigger them by taking too long to knock him out
Resident Evil 5 was the first game in the francise that I ever played, it even encouraged me to pick up the older games in the franchise I will always have a special place for it and oh god can we please bring back Sheva
I remember buying re5 the day it came out. I loved that it was 2 player split screen too and all the melee attacks were cool. It wasn't all that but i searched how to get all the treasures and characters for mercenaries. It was a fun game. My older bro and little bro are currently trying to beat it as we speak. ☺
Early on, Jun Tskeuchi said heat would have been a vital element of game play. If you were out in the heat too long, you'd die of heat stroke or dehydration. Plus, the light would affect the vision of the screen.
Resident evil 4, 5 and CVX are my all time favs. I grew up playing them and have the most memories on them.. 5 is different than every other RE game before it but not in a bad way in my opinion. It’s amazing to me
I love re5, the only thing I would change is to make it at night. I've played every game in the series but the co-op games are my top 3, you can't find good co-op anymore other than those few
You forgot to mention that originally, the game was going to feature a system where spending too much time in the desert sun would cause your body to overheat and hallucinate.
I remember reading in an old gaming magazine that heat from the sun was going to play a factor in game, implying you had to manage your exposure. This was early before the first trailer hit but it was an interesting tidbit.

A movie called Zootopia suffered the same fate as Resident Evil 5, even though both the game and the movie did exceptionally well, neither of the final versions would've captured as much attention like the originals. Personally, I enjoyed Resident Evil 5, it still carried some of the traditions from previous games and I really loved how they fleshed out Chris Redfield, it's because of this game he became one of my favorite characters. I hope Capcom gets a chance to remake this game like how Zootopia should include Wild Times in future sequels.
I wish they had references to billy coen and his team when they were there. I also remember reading about the sun having an effect on you, causing you to see enemies that aren’t really there(kind of like 3.5)

Back in the day a friend of mine theorized that Excella and Wesker would have more of a romantic relationship. I'm not sure how true that is but I thought it would have been interesting if he had shown actual emotions.

funny, I've always said the same about RE4, since it started the trend of enemy waves, ammo drops from enemies, and awful QTE's. Have always questioned the sanity of people that love RE4 but hate 5 & 6, just doesn't make sense to me.
@@SA80TAGE It's all in the tone. RE4 knew it was silly and goofy, so it never took itself too seriously. It felt more like a B movie; everyone was chewing the scenery, and it was surprisingly lighthearted most of the way through. There were A LOT of funny moments, even Saddler was hamming it up at times. RE5 and 6 were arguably just as goofy in premise, but they tried to play it mostly straight. Everyone is taking things so seriously (except Wesker, who is having a blast and is thus one of the best parts). Even Leon somehow got a broom handle stuck up his ass in RE6. What happened to 80's action star Leon? The one that wasn't afraid to crack one liners left and right? The one that shot Salazar's hearing tube just to make him wince at the loud sound? The one who was fully aware he had plot armor, and so spent most of RE4 not giving a shit? We liked him! Resident Evil 4 embraced the campiness with both arms, and fans LOVED that. The other two pushed that tone away in favor of angst, drama, and a storyline so convoluted it makes a Spanish soap opera look like Sesame Street. There's a reason fans don't like RE5 but love the part in RE5 where Chris is punching boulders: that's the kind of outrageously-over-the-top-to-the-point-of-humor badass stuff the series should have had, but abandoned.

@@SA80TAGE I.... literally just told you the difference. 4 had a goofy premise, and treated itself as such. 5 and 6, while being mechanically similar, tried to play their equally goofy premises straight. The tonal shift is the answer. RE4 Leon was enjoying himself; Chris and Sheva and Jake and co. were not. And fans love the goofy stuff. Wesker is the best part of RE5 because he's so hammy he belongs on a sandwich. Sure, the fans poke fun at the boulder punching, but that's because it stands out against the super serious tone the game had up until that point. I'll fully agree with you though, RE4 did not feel like a Resident Evil game (will not miss those classic tank controls). The same way RE7 doesn't feel like the other modern RE games. Sometimes it's good to shake things up and take something in a new direction, especially if it's been around a decade or two. Just as a personal note, saying something is fun with friends is not a good defense of that thing. Poking a dead rat with a stick can be fun with friends, but I still wouldn't recommend people do it, or pay to do it.
@@TheKrossRoads Wrong, since it's not the tone of the games that people complain about, it's the shift into action shooter gameplay away from survival horror, intrusive qte's, waves of enemies that must be dealt with rather than avoided, over the top melee combat... THOSE are the things that people complain about most when it comes to 5 & 6, and THOSE are the things that were started by RE4. Look at any comment section, about 6 in particular, everything I just listed will be the most common complaints, you are literally the only person I've ever seen mention the tone difference between games. As for Leons personality, Jake cracks just as much casual one liners as Leon did, so that pretty much destroys that point too... since it's only really at the end he becomes serious about his situation when finding out about Chris and his fathers history, the rest of the time he acts like a kid on a fun rollercoaster.
I remember when this game was coming out, Capcom didn't say that it was Chris who you played as, so there was this speculation that Carlos was the main character because of all the characters wearing soldier costumes. People assumed it followed the mercs which truthfully could have been an awesome title. Obviously this was crazy 2005-2006 online message boards speculation. Great video.
The original trailers that they released for the game were (and still are) so hype, the amount of tension of fighting the amount of fast moving enemies alone was just so good looking... and then we got Sheva
Resident Evil 4-6 are my favorite games in the series. 7 was not really my cup of tea and it certainly was not a "return to form" for the series. I'd love to see more co-op action oriented Resi games in the future.

The game wasn’t bad but it does sound like they cut out a lot of good stuff. Idk why certain developers always remove so much stuff, sometimes last minute.
I remember watching that original RE5 Trailer so many times, and re-reading the article detailing about how you'd have to go inside buildings and shady areas to avoid overheating in the African Sun.

Wow so much new interesting info. Originally re5 was not going to be coop, more similar to other games: Merchant, Tyrants, zombies, Barry etc... Seems like they added Sheva as a playable character to counter the racial uproar after the trailer came out. Thank you!

I quite enjoyed RE5 as I treated it as an action game with horror elements (as it should be) rather than vice versa. Also, I never had any problem with Shiva. It all comes down to smart item management, which is par for the course with most RE games, and which I guess I've grown accustomed to over the years.
Aw, it really is sad what we missed with RE5, but I still love it. Hope Capcom will use some of those ideas in future RE games, if possible.

Okay, that Wesker dialogue was used in one of the bossfights and he DOES TOO use his Samurai Edge in two of the three boss fights with him.
I dont think the last line was used, but yes he does use the Samurai Edge.

It is more RE than 4 that's for sure. RE isn't just about a genre... Not to mention that RE5 is technically one of the most polished games in the series.

@@MatiasHPR Story handling in RE5 was indeed very good, and it needed to be as it concluded the Albert Wesker saga. But as far as being true to the feel of what a RE game should be, it didn't stay true.
Good action game, very fun, but a lot of what people expect from a RE game were absent.
I feel if you took the same game but with new chars, story details, etc, it would've received less criticism without the RE label on it.

2:21 I've been playing lot of RE5 lately and I can confirm that this audio is present in the game, during the second Wesker fight when you have to turn lights off.
I personally deeply enjoyed multiplayer because me and my brother could play together at the same time it was so fun. The whole game was fantastic in general

Re5 is a perfect example of a game that wasn't so great on paper but was saved by an awesome online community and fun co-op gameplay. Some of my fondest xbox 360 memories were playing co-op and making friends with people around the world on this game.

RE is one of my favorite RE games and can replay it over and over again. I like the co op aspect and I don’t know why people had a hard time with Sheva. She didn’t cause me too much grief and proved to be more helpful than burdensome. You just have to know when She should cover you and when to send her out guns blazing. The best part about this game is its 2 player couch co op or online co op
RE5 ends the true RE plot started by Chris Jill and Albert.
It has a funny gameplay but NOTHING in common of Survival Horror.
Im so disappoineted about how it should have been the whole story: Chris Barry rescue Jill and then,revenge S.T.A.R.S. killing their ex captain Albert. So epic

Barry is so underrated and underused in the RE franchise. But he's the protagonist in Resident evil Revelations 2, if I remember well.

the re5 hate is unreasonable. re never took it self too serious. it always had a b-movie asthetic and in re5 it really took it to the next level. i love r
the various levels in the chapters that feeel different and also look distinct. cool scenes, fun&dumb action (boulder punching) and weskers super cheesy dialogue. i just love it and i stand by it, re5 is a great game, and thats why it sould extremely well. (except the el gigante level on professional, thats just straight garbage.)
That 4.5 look very interesting, and I think the game could still implement Co-op in it. It could work if they make the world like RE 4. A semi open world with paths that sometimes require you to separate from Sheva.

1.) Wesker does have his Samurai Edge. I've been shot by it enough times to know.
2.) The giant is called Ndesu in this game. Don't be lazy. Plus, originally Chris was supposed to go against like fifteen Ndesu.
3.) Chris' arms were originally made a lot bigger than they are in this game.
It's weird that everybody complains about Sheeva. I had no problems with her compared to Ashley Graham and some of the Outbreak partners.
She wastes bullets, then wants yours or takes them when you need them. You'll be slightly injured and she'll heal you. She watches you ALL THE TIME. And her overall AI sucks.
Ashley isn't a fighter and is a straight up NPC. As for Outbreak, those games were really ahead of their time, and as such they didn't always work too well. Plus, if you solo mode-ed Outbreak, the others were in a way NPCs that kind of helped you. If you were able to get online with three other competent people, it wasn't so bad.
She dies, a lot put herself in the line of fire and you have to care for her, a lot
I'm a big fan of RE 5, its one of my favorites because I can replay it over and over afán and still enjoy it. I love the co op and it's fun with couch co op. It's a good game.

I remember buying re5 the day it came out. I loved that it was 2 player split screen too and all the melee attacks were cool. It wasn't all that but i searched how to get all the treasures and characters for mercenaries. It was a fun game. My older bro and little bro are currently trying to beat it as we speak. ☺
Early on, Jun Tskeuchi said heat would have been a vital element of game play.
If you were out in the heat too long, you'd die of heat stroke or dehydration. Plus, the light would affect the vision of the screen.

I love RE:5 yes it was a departure from the series norm but it was still an amazingly awesome action packed game with a good story and good DLC.
I love re5, the only thing I would change is to make it at night. I've played every game in the series but the co-op games are my top 3, you can't find good co-op anymore other than those few

I remember reading in an old gaming magazine that heat from the sun was going to play a factor in game, implying you had to manage your exposure. This was early before the first trailer hit but it was an interesting tidbit.

A movie called Zootopia suffered the same fate as Resident Evil 5, even though both the game and the movie did exceptionally well, neither of the final versions would've captured as much attention like the originals. Personally, I enjoyed Resident Evil 5, it still carried some of the traditions from previous games and I really loved how they fleshed out Chris Redfield, it's because of this game he became one of my favorite characters. I hope Capcom gets a chance to remake this game like how Zootopia should include Wild Times in future sequels.
They're not traditional RE games, but I love RE 4 and 5. I have mixed feelings about 6.

I wish they had references to billy coen and his team when they were there. I also remember reading about the sun having an effect on you, causing you to see enemies that aren’t really there(kind of like 3.5)

Back in the day a friend of mine theorized that Excella and Wesker would have more of a romantic relationship. I'm not sure how true that is but I thought it would have been interesting if he had shown actual emotions.

funny, I've always said the same about RE4, since it started the trend of enemy waves, ammo drops from enemies, and awful QTE's. Have always questioned the sanity of people that love RE4 but hate 5 & 6, just doesn't make sense to me.

It's all in the tone. RE4 knew it was silly and goofy, so it never took itself too seriously. It felt more like a B movie; everyone was chewing the scenery, and it was surprisingly lighthearted most of the way through. There were A LOT of funny moments, even Saddler was hamming it up at times.
RE5 and 6 were arguably just as goofy in premise, but they tried to play it mostly straight. Everyone is taking things so seriously (except Wesker, who is having a blast and is thus one of the best parts). Even Leon somehow got a broom handle stuck up his ass in RE6. What happened to 80's action star Leon? The one that wasn't afraid to crack one liners left and right? The one that shot Salazar's hearing tube just to make him wince at the loud sound? The one who was fully aware he had plot armor, and so spent most of RE4 not giving a shit? We liked him!
Resident Evil 4 embraced the campiness with both arms, and fans LOVED that. The other two pushed that tone away in favor of angst, drama, and a storyline so convoluted it makes a Spanish soap opera look like Sesame Street. There's a reason fans don't like RE5 but love the part in RE5 where Chris is punching boulders: that's the kind of outrageously-over-the-top-to-the-point-of-humor badass stuff the series should have had, but abandoned.

While RE4 is to be praised for outstanding gameplay and influencing so much others, I can't say it ever really felt like Resident Evil to me, nor with 5 & 6, though I like all them for what they are. Honestly I probably liked 6 the most out of those 3, it was just always a blast to play co-op or mercenaries and something I'll always say yes to a pick up game at my mates house, which we still do. But I probably wouldn't sit through 4 again on my own as I can't stand Ashley more than anything, she makes the game feel like a chore... still more or less enjoyed it the first few playthroughs though. But yeah I just don't get it, between 4, 5 & 6 I never really saw them to be that much different from each other, same gameplay elements, same action focus, same over the top shit albeit in different quantities. Can't really understand why people loved 4 but hate 5 or 6, other than nostalgia... and that couldn't _possibly_ colour anyones perspective!

I.... literally just told you the difference. 4 had a goofy premise, and treated itself as such. 5 and 6, while being mechanically similar, tried to play their equally goofy premises straight. The tonal shift is the answer. RE4 Leon was enjoying himself; Chris and Sheva and Jake and co. were not.
And fans love the goofy stuff. Wesker is the best part of RE5 because he's so hammy he belongs on a sandwich. Sure, the fans poke fun at the boulder punching, but that's because it stands out against the super serious tone the game had up until that point.
I'll fully agree with you though, RE4 did not feel like a Resident Evil game (will not miss those classic tank controls). The same way RE7 doesn't feel like the other modern RE games. Sometimes it's good to shake things up and take something in a new direction, especially if it's been around a decade or two.
Just as a personal note, saying something is fun with friends is not a good defense of that thing. Poking a dead rat with a stick can be fun with friends, but I still wouldn't recommend people do it, or pay to do it.

THOSE are the things that people complain about most when it comes to 5 & 6, and THOSE are the things that were started by RE4. Look at any comment section, about 6 in particular, everything I just listed will be the most common complaints, you are literally the only person I've ever seen mention the tone difference between games. As for Leons personality, Jake cracks just as much casual one liners as Leon did, so that pretty much destroys that point too... since it's only really at the end he becomes serious about his situation when finding out about Chris and his fathers history, the rest of the time he acts like a kid on a fun rollercoaster.
I remember when this game was coming out, Capcom didn't say that it was Chris who you played as, so there was this speculation that Carlos was the main character because of all the characters wearing soldier costumes. People assumed it followed the mercs which truthfully could have been an awesome title. Obviously this was crazy 2005-2006 online message boards speculation. Great video.

The original trailers that they released for the game were (and still are) so hype, the amount of tension of fighting the amount of fast moving enemies alone was just so good looking... and then we got Sheva
Resident Evil 4-6 are my favorite games in the series. 7 was not really my cup of tea and it certainly was not a "return to form" for the series. I'd love to see more co-op action oriented Resi games in the future.
kinda agree, 7 only had the molds as enemy which gets old quick while 4-6 had lots of enemy variety.
