I always liked that line too from this song. 🎵 I don't consider this a hard banger - it's like easy listening rock to me. I really like the guy's voice and story style and all of it (esp the back and forth sound-balance in the speakers. YES, Andy...kareokee this one. 😎👍 Plus, my brother and his best friend really dug it back in the day & they were cool guys ...and...their major hangout was at a bar called Gino's (not Dino's as in the song tho). So, as usual - how you heard, when you heard it, who you were with or what you were doing, the weather, the scene, the mood...it all matters. It all contributes to the impact. 🌷

One of my favorite memories in life was meeting Phil Lynott as a young writer in the Bay Areas in the early 80's. We went after a show at the Keystone Palo Alto to sit and talk somewhere private. In this case, it was under the north tower of the Golden Gate Bridge. There's a little lighthouse right at the base, where the bay funnels through at breakneck speed, while the foghorns call down though the mist from the towers way over your head. We sat back to back in the cold, drinking coffee with whiskey and he talked music for about 3 hours. He was a man who would have been a bard in the 13th century, a priest in the 10th, a highwayman somewhere in the mix. But he had the gift of breathing life into what he saw. What a legend. I wish he had lived to write more. He was a pied piper.

The album was a slight concept. 'Jailbreak' was about a future world run by an overlord (the overlord is on the cover in the background). Thus the song, "Jailbreak" was from the perspective of "our heroes" breaking away from that. Each song on the album has a little bit of the concept in the character singing to us, telling us a story. Free from the overlord, the boys come back to town... and all that. Remember, this was 1976, a year before 'Star Wars'. My teenage years were nothing but rock ‘n’ roll. Now I recently heard this song used on a commercial and my little seven-year-old son downstairs singing it was music to my ears. LOL

As corny as this sounds, I think of this song every time I go back to my sleepy ol’ home town and meet up with my old friends.

Nothing corny about a sentimental association - especially to a song ABOUT sentimental association.

This song was used for a number of years in the mid 90’s when the Hershey Bears hockey team would enter the ice at the start of a home game. Brings back some great memories for me!

I was a kid when all the songs you review were big (in the 1970s, and then a teen in the 1980s) so these are not only great tunes for me but they have the nostalgia/time machine factor that puts me back to a certain place in my childhood so they are classic and so meaningful to me in a way that can't be to anyone who wasn't born then. BUT, may I say you guys get a lot more out of it after just one listen then I ever did. They sort of just burned into my consciousness after hearing them forever and then sort of really listened to the lyrics. Not sure I would have gotten all this when I first heard these tunes. We just had such great ear candy constantly back in the day.

"Live & Dangerous" IS the definitive Thin Lizzy live double album to listen to! ..even better on vinyl (Still have mine! :D) Puts you right there in Concert mode.

Reminded me of high school times and seeing this band live with Molly Hatchet, Eddie Money, Journey and Santana in Chicago at Comiskey Park. Right after Disco Demolition.

Nice job guys. I've been enjoying your reaction videos for half a year. My son is probably 20 years older than you but it does my heart good to see such fine young men as yourselves enjoying these great tunes from before your time. Peace.

A couple of REAL bangers from Thin Lizzy are off the 'Thin Lizzy Live and Dangerous' album. One is 'Warrior' and the other is 'The Emerald'. I would suggest going with 'Warrior' first then 'The Emerald'.

“I mean she was steamin’”. This is why I couldn’t understand how somebody recommended “Jail break” to you guys over this. If you grew up listening to Thin Lizzy, this is the song that would come to mind. Even though their most commercial song, a banger. I would also recommend “The cowboy song”. Another banger. When you come around to Nazareth again, check out “Love hurts”. I believe it’s also on “Hair of the dog”. 🎸

Now that you've got their two biggest hits in the US out of the way, you can definitely delve deeper into their catalogue; there are some fantastic bangers in there.
