#warhammer40k #miniatures #gamesworkshop - Jak na to + styl
Legend has it Jay’s shirt was originally white, but after years of painting and cleaning brushes on it it became a lovely shade of grimdark green
I don't know I heard that it was originally lime green but then there was a tragic Nuln Oil incident that permanently darkened it up.
I saw that too and was like WTF who does that? Jay, you're a wildman!
Sounds like Nurgle shenanigans
The best thing is that he's wearing an apron. But it's a presentation apron, so you can't risk getting paint juice on it.
No ones writing legends about these dudes lmao.
Worst thing about limited edition plastic models is how they undermine any argument for why other models are still in resin. Surely if store opening super limited Captain Whateverus can be made in a plastic without bankrupting GW, so can all those cool Necromunda characters that don’t sell much. Not to mention that the resources going into designing, sculpting and producing a model that will disappear never to be seen again could have gone into upgrading long-suffering finecast character models like Trazyn, Vect or Lucius.
I think the difference is that a limited edition AoS or 40k model is going to vastly outsell those Necromunda characters, so they'll get their money back on the mold pretty quick.
I do agree that they no need to move the last of the failcast mini's to plastic.
I dont get it Forge world does resin GW necromunda stuff is all plastic ... what the hell are you on mate ...
They not made Hohus in plastic man! Little meaningless Warmaster Horus still in resin. That's a shame.
@@derionone Forge World does make resin Necromunda character mini's. Lots of unique characters, creatures, bounty hunters, and other hired guns.
@@JMcMillen yes i know but he said GW ... GW dosent make resin necro
Jay, you could just use that Vampire Lord in Warcry. I don't think there's a unique stat block for him, but he should work as a Vampire Lord stand in. Then you just need a handful of mini's to finish up your warband instead of trying to build a full army.
Recently I've been thinking if I'm going to buy a random model I could use it for Killteam/Warcry if it's an option
Or just use her in AoS? Just remember to give her a 40 mm base instead of 32 mm which she comes with in the box.
@@Deus888 But Jay didn't sound all that thrilled about having to buy another expensive AoS army.
Loving the limited edition whistle intro throwback
Loving the extended session of pretending to paint that vampire lord. Halfway through I started counting the number of times you cleaned your brush without touching the model 😂 Quality episode as always guys, thanks
Jay I watch a lot of your videos but this is legitimately one of the best, most direct, well-thought-out videos you have done. Your analyses of the psychology behind the manufacturing of these models is very accurate. I love the idea that once an entire game is out-of-print, that gives the exact same feeling as an intentionally manufactured "limited edition". I never considered that (it's why I enjoy retro game collecting!) and that perspective was really eye opening for me. Thank you!
I would like to see Jay paint up some wasteland warfare robots or mirelurks. Since he does like the silliness of certain series, the idea of like a sentrybot painted to promote a hardware store or Cereal brand would be fun
I would love to see that too. Wasteland Warfare is such a great and fun game.
What is not funny is when your pay method fails at all the available way of purchasing. Companies, please, let me use just visa
I love how most creators would have stretched this into 3 videos. Jay? Nope. Just bam bam bam, 3 limited editions done and dusted.
The supporter swag commercial was g.d. seamless! For real - I appreciate sponsorships that fit inside the video topic, and you all do it better than most everyone else.
I got the Goff Rocker because I am working on a ‘miniature band’. So far, I have the Goff Rocker, a Noise Marine and a Nords bagpipe player from Conquest.
what a nice idea!
Don’t forget to get Dj Clamavus! He’s got cassette tapes for his tape player backpack and speaker stick :p He is also my only GSC model painted like he’s at a rave
5:45 - Inquisitors had codexes up till 5th edition when the Grey Knight codex released and the Sisters of Battle army list in white dwarf. Even then they still pop up from time to time like in the Index books for 8th edition.
I usually buy them for fun painting projects, I dont play orks but the Goff rocker was a fun unique model to paint.
Unique? There are Ork rockers in other brands
Could proxy as a Weirdboy and his maybe-maybe-not Psyker powers may just be the power of rock or something. And getting a HQ unit too.
you put everything in to these videos, you are like a 6y old showing off his christmas gifts🙂🙂😊 love your vids, you have so much energy, perfect balance of nerdyness and enjoyment. love you😊😊
ohh, and why is there a middle finger in your painting room!?
The Luke is awesome! I appreciate you opening and painting these, I've never been a keep things in the box person
I LOVE how right after the ad, Jay goes right back to painting WITHOUT the product. LOL.
The editing on this video is fantastic, well done! So many funny cuts and zooms.
Nice that they included a basic base with that Luke. This way, you can have the "intended" display base too, but if you want, you can have fun with building up the blank base to fit your army's basing.
Meanwhile all blood angels players trying to get a copy of "Sanguinius" before the scalpers put them all on ebay for 4x the price.
Oh man, I'm glad you shouted out your FLGS for Legion - they had the Crashed Escape Pod (and other cool things) in stock. Placed my order.
Crikeys, that Luke is amazing!
The face and helmet are some of the best work I've seen you do. Beautiful.
Awesome video and just picked up the painting hilt with light and magnifying glass - JUST what I was after! Thanks for showing it off :)
my local games store had that limited vampire in their sales corner and I loved it so much I decided I wanted to go for a soulblight army, together with my cursed city box I'm not even really tempted to buy anything for it until it's all painted. not that that stopped me
Dude, you paint so well now! Your videos and paint jobs improve and improve! Good job!
The colours on that vampire lord and you used the old EOB intro song for the Luke painting !
Damn that Vampire Lord paint job is top notch!
I love my limeted edition Octavia for Infinity. I play her very often. And love her big rocketlauncher on the alternative sculpt.
I could have bought the normal version ,but i realy love her badass limeted edition sculpt!
Paint jobs were OK, but what was that MUSIC when you were painting Luke?! IT was incredible! I LOVE WHISTLING!
00:47 That roller coaster picture is amazing :)
Jay painted that Star Wars blue alien rebel dude’s head the same way as this vampire chick and I love it please go into more detail on how you paint that next time you get the chance thank you
I had to get the Goff Rocker as I'm working on a 40K Ork Army. I had a lot of fun painting it up.
I love vampireses, and I LOVE the Crimson Court and models from the Cursed City set, regardless of the hoo-haw from that debacle. That special edition one however just didn't move me. Refuse to delve into Star Wars - too many other expensive hobbies. LOVE Cartavolnus - your paint work KILLS. You're definitely right about Inquisitor fans vs. non-inquisitor fans. He's an incredible model - the creedy Necronomicon-y book, the red voluminous robe and deep hood. The cybernetic arm. It's just so Inquisitor, and looks taken directly out of the Inquisitor book back when Eisenhorn premiered. Thanks for sharing!
I enjoy buying random models to eventually paint. Number one reason I also own a 3D printer. I just bought the Tzeentch Curseling to practice NMM blue armor. Great vid as always.
Oh, I love that song from old series of models and memories weekly, so satisfying ❤️
I swear when you were painting Luke and that song came on, it felt like the final episode of a TV show where the main theme plays.
great job with the OSL on that inquisitor! your effort definitely paid off :D
Did you really say, "AoS is light hearted?" Wow! That made me laugh 😂 Great video! Keep up the good work!
Has that hand over Jay's left shoulder always been like that? 😆 made me laugh more than it should have!
everytime I see Legion content on this channel i get really happy
i really like the vampire colour scheme. it has a very 80's nes sprite kinda feel to it, like i feel like i could see that character in castlevania 1-3
I don't know how everyone else does it, necessarily, but I only pick them up if I think they look really good and would fit something I want to do to kind of force myself down from buying *everything.* I got Bayards revenge because I needed a Legion Champion for my Night Lords, and I felt he'd be perfect. One blood Angel instead of an ork, and a jetpack later, and he's one of my favorites I've done for my legion. I got the terminator chaplain because it was PERFECT for what I wanted as my Master of Sanctity for my 40k marines, and I've gotten the Goff Rocker to turn into an Ork Noise Marine for another project.
I feel like this kind of "Grab what you know you want to use or something you know you want to have and paint" is the best way to go about it.
I think Lightsabers are the single best use for florescent paints, So bright and eye catching.
I love the freehanding you did on Luke
totally agreewith you in this one. aos models are amazing :D i painted my tzeentch daemons so vibrant that opponents told me they shine on every table and it just feels amazing. my paintjob is far from perfect and maybe not even considered "good" (i.e. flamers are just 3 contrast paints blended on a wraithbone primer), but i just love the reaction of other people when they walk around table and stop to take a look at them.
THAT PAINTING MONTAGE WITH MUSICAL BACKING🔥🔥🔥 If you are taking requests, more of that!
You paint amazingly. But you are also super entertaining :D this channel made me go back to painting.
Good news - Return of the Jedi Luke is available to you in the “Luke Skywalker operative expansion” - gives you the option of running him in a different org slot and has some improved stats befitting his jedi knight status at that time (only real downside is the loss of his pistol but is that really a problem?)
I know what you mean and how you feel. I’ve had to restrain my impulses for these… but I did get that GW bday inquisitor and the Jacob Bugmansson models.
You’ve definitely raised your painting game! 🚀
That vampire is looking fierce and ready to slay.
You made the helmet AWESOME! Super nice!
Love the Yugioh shoutout. I'm a Yugioh player starting my first Warhammer army!
Jay flaunting Mars Attacks and Starship Troopers at me making my fomo flare up
I own a couple limited addition models. The 2 catachan and the Inquisitor in this video. I just wish that if they do more limited guard models gw doesn't make it so hard to get.
Question about the Cobalt Keep painting hilt... What's the CRI rating on those lights? Finding proper lighting for my working space, without spending a fortune, has been a real pain...
They looked amazing! I'm down for a soul blight army!
I recently bought Cursed City after wanting to get it for awhile. It's made me want to start a Soulblight Gravelords army. I have a nighthaunt and a Stormcast Eternals army but I'm not really drawn to them.
I am perfectly fine with special, limited edition miniatures made for special events. So long as, if they're intended to be used in a game, there's a more standard version of that model already available. Bayard's Revenge is fine, because there's already an Emperor's Champion model available normally. It's just a fancy version with an Ork. The Inquisitor, however, is really annoying, because there's not really a good Inquisitor kit out there that's not like Eisenhorn, Greyfax or Coteaz which isn't in Finecast, and a good plastic Inquisitor kit that's really customizable has been on my wishlist for a while. The Goff Rocker doesn't seem like it'll be given specific rules and they seem to be angling more for it to be commemorative, so I don't really care.
I haven't seen any of these that I just HAVE to have, so I'm not really bothered all that much by it, personally.
That Vampire Lord could make a great 40k Psyker, Navigator or Rogue Trader.
Only thirty bucks per mini? That Nick is a great guy. 😄
I collect the LE models and sometimes i do FOMO but i go by how would i paint this? Or this is something i look forward to painting. Or maybe i can trade this for an other model i wanted. But most just building up my retirement plan for myself of hobby
I'm not dumb. I needed the. malefic plaguecaster from space marine hero's series 3 to complete my death guard collection. ☣️🖤👌
I used the limited edition sergeant Castus as kitbash fodder. Used the base for an Illic Nightspear and the body for a Black Templars apothecary. Bits for the bits god.
“Thats an experiment that I’ll have to run on the next Star Wars Legion model I paint”
C’monnn General Grievous needs a new pair of shoes!!!🤞🤞
Hey Jay, just wanted to let you know Atomic Mass Games sent limited edition Grogus for Star Wars Legion to friendly local game stores with the release of Din Djarin as well!
I NEED to know what artist sings that “what up” song that was playing when you were painting the vampire lord cause it 100% slapped
Tbh all you need to do to make that helmet look like the empire one is some black weathering powder like how you would do exhaust stacks
the way he just sort of dropped it on the desk. i fear slightly nocking any over in my army of gray.
I actually won that vampire model at a killteam tournament at my FLGS. It was the first model in my SbGl army.
general cinematography is REALLY stepping up
Well done painting the vampire
One of the local stores where I used to live got 3 of those Pilot Lukes and priced them at $50 each... all 3 are still on their shelves.
Great editing this vid!
Dude, that tree - your search history must be something!
Hi, just wanted to say that you're doing a brilliant job and I love your videos! Keep up the good work!
Starship troopers mins are being sold here and there, one of the shops I use has the master molds.
You could have 2 models, one is like a 7/10 model which is awesome but you are not sure you want it. The other is 5/10, not quite as good and again, you are unsure. The 7/10 model though is available all year round so you think, I'll have a think and buy it later. The 5/10 is only available for 1 week and you have to decide now if you want it. So you buy the worse one because of urgency and the better one, you postpone and postpone and then you never buy it because something else comes along. Usually another 5/10 limited edition. That's all there is to it. Limited editions don't give you the time to think about it. There are 8 or even 9/10 models i still don't own because i can buy them any time. I even wanted the MESBG Pelennor field box for years but kept putting it off. As soon as the Osgiliath box was announced, I knew the Pelennor fields one would go out of production so I bought it there and then. All because It now had a time limit. But the 5/10 models which are no where near as good get instant buys because I can't think about it or wait a while.
I have Goff rocker, STILL waiting on my warhammer day guy with the sword and the Ork, and I skipped on the warhammer store anniversary models hehe
The Vampire Lord looks better when she's holding the dragon rather than pointing.
There is nothing more dangerous than a floppy lightsaber. Thanks gents!! Fantastic as always!!
Tell Cobalt Keep to release square bases, would love to get some quality square bases for my WHFB army project.
We are collectors so it's only natural that we want to add something rare to our miniature collection whether we need it or not, it's almost like a way to show off as well to prove that our collection is better or superior to some one else's because we have a special or limited figure others don't have.
A special miniature or limited miniature also shows our eagerness to throw double if not even triple the amount of money on something with the excuse that the figure is special so thus it validates our spendings.
what color did you use on the vampire skin? i love the his paint job
I bought 1, and when I realized its half the price of a massive terrain piece like the ruins of Dol'Guldur I returned it next day, and got the ruins.
Bayard's Revenge was a really fun limited edition model but I don't dip into the limited models much
I think if it makes sense to be limited, I think it’s fine. Like a random tua ethereal. But that inquisitor should just be on the store.
Really wanted the Exclusive Kruleboyz but wasn't dropping that much money for single models
I also couldn't resist here and bought the limited edition dark vengeance, the last time I was surprised that it's been 10 years, I only opened the box here, but otherwise it's still in the cupboard, I've even considered selling it here
The thing to keep in mind with limited edition boxes, is that usually only the discount is limited edition. Most models tend to be released either as separate pieces or as parts of different collections (Necrons Royal Court ie.)
He's talking about those models that are specifically released as single figure limited editions. For example, that Vampire Lord was only sold as a single figure and was only available for a limited time. It never appeared in any other box.
They weren't ones that were exclusive to some big box and were then later sold separately.
@@JMcMillen he did touch on the boxes, even had Eldritch Omens as an example.
for me limited edition things are a way to try fun things that you otherwise wouldnt get. Best example being Goff rockers, they dont fit in anywhere but they are just fun.
This has to be your best video yet!
Boom -- Cobalt Keep stuff looks amazing... ordered 3! (me and for holidays for friends!)
That vampire is AWESOME! other figs rock too, but love the colour scheme 😁
I think the worst form of limited edition was when GW made an exclusive primaris champion for an event. Meaning if you didn’t attend the event there was no way for you to get it outside of paying a stupid amount from a reseller
I was disappointed in Goff Rocker. Not Christmasy! I loved last year's model.
I hope the move is going well. Cannot wait to watch some streams again…. Soulbrightgravelight!!!
I went waaayyyyyy outa my way to get literally every single character and limited/exclusive Primaris model. Was it expensive as multiple entire armies? Yes. Was it worth it? Also yes. Now i'm seeing that White Consul model, he definitely getting added to the collection.
Could Vampire Lady be used in Blood Ravens?
I do have a large soulblight gravelords army and she dont have rules, unless you use her as a normal standard vampire lord
Love that paint handle but iam never going to pay for that shipping to the UK 😭
Limited edition minis have a shelf life. if I don’t build and paint in 3 years, I sell the model. They deserve a good home, not my dark hobbie closet
I always feel that limited editions should be reserved to alt sculpts or wacky stuff which is probably why I don't mind to much paying a little extra for limited run stuff like from KD. Putting mainline stuff like that Pilot Luke as one annoys me as I see that enough in the action figure collection area with store exclusives. could have been something like Dagobah Luke with Yoda on his back or even Hoth patrol Luke
