- New video rambling about SL55 dyno numbers and new modifications.
Best 4th gear (1 to 1 gear ratio) netted 588 horsepower and 631 lb-ft of torque to the wheels.
Apply a 20% correction factor for drivetrain loss and the numbers are 705 horsepower and 757 lb-ft of torque at the engine/crank. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Great work look forward to seeing your future projects
Brian you continue to amaze me, your attention to detail is Phenomenal, anyone looking to buy a SL would be crazy not to wait for one of yours, Keep them coming 😊
Thanks as always for the support Jeffrey and definitely love hearing the great feedback! Can't wait to start on the next one.
Pretty exciting stuff I love the progress you’ve made so far. Can’t wait to see what you have in store for the 4.2. I like your videos because you do your research and plan all your builds with reliability in mind👍
Thanks Cruz! The S5 will mostly be receiving cosmetic mods and maintenance. Might make a video on walnut blasting the valves. Can't wait to get started on it.
Great content man. Very nice work. Terrific cars.
Great video. I'm super impressed with your knowledge and how articulate you are. I have the same exact car- year, color and I was hoping to find a vehicle that I could mimick as far as the look and yours is it! Your choice of rims and subtle accessories is absolutely perfect. I'm experiencing heat soaking and am in the upgrade stage so your cooling info was helpful. I wish you lived near me, I would be getting all my SL upgrades done by you- whatever your rates are! Fantastic car.
Hello.. Somehow found you on the rabbit hole of CZcams. Love the videos and the commentary/information. Hopefully you find a base SL500 R230 for us guys who cant afford a SL55, and do a power upgrades, etc? Keep up the good work, the headlight update with the black trim - Genius! Thanks, Oliver
incredible work
Appreciate it Mike!
Thats my dream car and the way you modified it search his own
That car is so gorgeous and powerful
If I have the possibility to get one one day I will try to make it look as good as yours even if it wont be possible
One thing I would change is to add some side aprons
Thanks for the great work saw your channel today for the first time and I am amazed that such good content doesnt get way more views
I wish you best of luck and thank for inspiring me
that silver SL just has The Look! well done mods.
that car is a beast
Yet another super clean, incredible job. even more power than an SLR 722 GT without tearing into the engine is amazing. Where did you source your 72mm clutched pulley and tune from, and are you running the stock lower?
Awesome man keep videos cmg
I love your channel. Good work on the sl cars. Have you ever worked on a 2005 c55 amg.
Great build. What do you attribute the hp gains over your other builds to?
Is the intake the needswings srt6 intake? How much need to be changed to make it work?
Your SL looks great so I got one.
Did you change out the suspension ?
The stance is what im trying to achieve. I still have my original suspension it works for now.
How much would you charger for all mods and install I want this exact setup. And if you can’t install can you please post a more in-depth video about the intake system I want to build your exact car.
Love this car :)
I have one :) SL55
Good video 📹
Did you upgrade the fuel injectors? Can you, without upgrading the fuel pump?
What did you do for exhaust, car looks great. I also have an SL55 and I love it it is completely stock . I am currently working on the abc suspension replacing accumulators and rebuilding valve blocks. I have followed some of your other builds.Have you had to address abc issues with there cars??
Thanks Perry! I'm using full 3" stainless piping, mid-length headers, 2 crossovers, Kooks Green Cats, stock resonators (kills low rpm drone), and no mufflers. Luckily I haven't had too many issues with the suspension on the couple dozen cars that I've had. I've had to replace a few shocks and rebuild a handful of valve blocks in the past. However, on every car that I get, I always flush/rodeo and replace the filter/fluid.
Sick rims
are you able to get new headlight lenses?
Amazing build man. Car is gorgeous! Are you running a bigger secondary he or just a single bigger one in place of the stock?
Thanks William! I'm using a large secondary heat exchanger that is tied in with the stock unit.
Ever encounter rust with any of the r230 SL's?
I am making a budget for a winter project on my SL55. What was your
approximate cost on doing all the mods in your SL55?
are you on a 82mm or 90mm tb did you have that snout modified other then the opening for throttle body.
Hi Tim. This car is using an 82mm TB with a snout from an 07-08 SL55 that has been ported.
i use sl500 plus kleeman supercharge am not sure that this is the right number or not i went to dyno and i got 350hp and 600 Tq what do you think
What is the size of IC tank
My eyes suck. What my eye reads to me is roughly 630 HP at Ft Lbs 580-ish. Was the a simple refresh/rebuild or .30 ?
Are there any concernes with the transmission after the power increase? I had a cls 55 amg with a chip tune only and managed to rip out a small oil pump inside the transmission during a first gear pull...
Sorry to hear about your bad luck with that one! I feel that the 722.643 gearbox is a pretty stout unit and can handle a lot of abuse. I've personally not had any trans related issues with any of the modified SL's that I've owned and modified. Once you get above 700 wheel torque or so, it would probably be a good idea to start upgrading the internals. A limited slip differential would be a great addition for this car however.
FisherFAST Oh yes I didn’t have the performace package so the car was pretty much dead in the snow 🤷🏽♂️
Where are you located at
Do you have shop?
What the mode in the car?
So I have a black SL 55. I’ve heard horror stories about ceramic coatings. Would you recommend this for a car that spends A lot of time in the sun?
Hi Cedrock. I have not personally had any bad experiences with ceramic coating any of my vehicles. It looks especially amazing on darker cars such as black. It's all down to how much experience the person applying the coating has. Using lots of revealing light during application is critical as to make sure that every single last bit of the coating is removed prior to it curing. Once the coating has cured, it's very difficult remove residual high spots that were accidentally left behind and will be very noticeable on darker cars. When applied correctly, there's no other sealant that can touch it.
@@FisherFAST gm I am looking for a flat bottom steering wheel for my 2004 sl 55
Who else is here because of the bringatrailer auction 😂
Can you DM me a price? That you in advance.
Local friend is coming to check out the car early next week and if he passes, I'll have a full ad with vids/pics up. Will be in touch!
Your horsepower calculation with 20% drivetrain loss is wrong:
588 x 1.2 = 705
The loss is from the crank number so the calculation should be:
588 / 0.80 = 735‼
To prove it:
705 x 0.80 = 564
735 x 0.80 = 588
Please tell me the link to your carbon fiber mirrors please and that exact rear diffuser
