  • In this video, I discuss why the Mercedes AMG 'V8 Kompressor' M113k engine is a favourite among enthusiasts. The m113k was featured in the w211 E55, w219 CLS55, w220 S55, W215 CL55, R230 SL55, as well as others. I start by going over some differences between the standard M113 engine and the AMG versions, then go into more detail on the m113k.

    For some reason G class is rarely mentioned when talking about M113K.
    It makes the 2.6 tonnes G55 feel light like a feather. Very mixed/unusual feeling.
    The continuous 4wd and heavy mass helps to convert all of the torque into brutal acceleration.

    The SLR Mclaren and CLK DTM supercars also had variants of the M113k engine, but I intend to do future videos focusing on those cars in more detail. Also, I make the claim in this video that the E55 and CLS55 are not less powerful than the SL55, CL55, and S55. This has been discussed many times in the past and dyno results show no differences between these M113k cars. mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/257575-faster-sl55-e55.html
    Also, I mention the 5 litre as the 'base' m113. There is the 4.3L, but I am meaning that the 5 litre is the base for the AMG m113k engine which is the title of this video.

    Sometimes you need to replace the entire valve covers themselves due to warpage. Which results in leaks even after installing new gaskets.
    The rule of thumb I use is if oxidation on the exterior finish of the VC's is in the advanced stages, best to be safer than sorry, and just replace them along with the gaskets. Labor remains unchanged. In fact, you may save a bit on the labor, as the upper breather covers will already be installed and sealed on the new covers. I usually knock an hour of labor off the job because of this.

    I just bought a 2003 MB S55 AMG for 14k, with 80k miles. From the original owner. He did the ABC pump and maintained the car well. I have an appointment at MB to do both gaskets on the valve cover. I noticed little oil residue. I love the car so far.

I was thinking to change the thermostat to a lower degree and water pump at the same time. What other things can you suggest to change I bought the car 2 years ago it was not well taken care of.
    I love the power i want to spend my money on the right things I’m saving this car for my son we love the power.

Also, I have upgraded my exhaust with some American Racing long tube headers with a tune. There is one car that was left out of the video. The M113K engine is also in the SLR McLaren.

    • @apangurra2775
      @apangurra2775 Před 4 lety +1

      Shimon Ok, these are just a few things that come to mind; air-matic failure, distronic disconnect often, keyless entry, keyless go, parktronic sensors, alternator failure, gps antenna, water leaking into boot causing short, seat motors, seat pneumatics, g-sensor, headlamp xenon adjustment, mirror heat damage, battery drain, poor paintwork and most important a lot of rust. It's not too bad I guess 😂

      But i think the M113 5.4 is more reliable than the M113K 5.4 Because its naturally aspirated vs the Supercharged M113K
      Unless u have the 5.0 variant of the M113 which only makes 300HP then u could opt to the M113K Cars with almost +200HP if u want more fun and Power
