Smoky Quartz instantly became one of my all time favorite fusions! Especially because they are literally Steven's first ever gem fusion, In fact the first time I ever saw this episode it made me think "Hooray, Steven can fuse with both gems and humans after all!"
smoky uses they/them, not she/her! but yeah this was a great moment, they’re such a cool fusion. i remember listening to Smoky’s theme music on repeat once it was released
Smokey saying "I feel like Amethyst knows this" makes me wonder if Rose and Amethyst ever fused.
@@WraythSkitzofrenik That would depend on the situation. But I guess if they did ever fused, their version of Smoky would be a rare sight, since Rose used to fuse with Pearl normally.
The revelation of all of Jasper's anger towards Rose (and the Earth itself) over Pink's shattering surprised me at the time. I remember at the end of the episode I was shocked by this, as it implied that many Gems felt remorse/anger for what Rose did.

The fusion between Amethyst and Steven was always expected. Since the first season, she was the Gem that had the most connection with Steven, precisely because both saw themselves as inferior to the rest of the team. And Smoky's own fusion refers to this, when they fuse, an explosion occurs. A meltdown, which is precisely when a Smoky Quartz is created naturally.

When Earthlings premiered, the fandom went collectively "YESSSSSSSS!" when Jasper confirmed the existence of Pink Diamond, an entity who'd been speculated upon since the end of season two.
Jasper has no clue as to how corruption happens. We saw from Lapis's recording and Centipeetle's drawing how Gems were corrupted after the Diamonds somehow "nuked" Earth as soon as they'd evacuated their colonists, but Jasper seems to think that corruption was just something that happened to weak Gems living on Earth.
Somehow it seems right that Steven's first fusion with a Gem is with Amethyst.
Jasper: ... Her limb enhancers, her status, her dignity!
Peridot: i still have one of those things.
Factually she still has one feet...
So she has one plus one fraction of those things...

Jasper is such an interesting and entertaining character.
I watch this when it first came out, but didn't think or realize when amethyst call Jasper her sister. Now it makes me sad because it's like amethyst is the younger sister trying to help her older sister who has lost her way.
Finally the name dropped! Now you can speculate while avoiding spoilers!
FIRST! ...Even though I know there's going to be a new Steven episode on Tuesday's I always get super exited seeing it uploaded anyways lol can't wait to watch.

This is such a mixed bag episode lol, on the one hand jasper is my favorite and I love the info she dumps on us on the other hand I don't like either amethyst or smoky quartz so they drag the episode down for me,
Interesting, I have the exact opposite problem with this episode. I love Amethyst but I couldn't care less about Jasper episodes. I agree though that Smoky Quartz is not my favorite.

Jasper is so strong the only way a crystal gem has a chance against is if they fuse. Thats insane to think about.
Ruby sapphire pearl amethyst couldn't defeat jasper 1 to 1. They had to fuse. Jasper lowkey wanted a fair fight gem to gem. Fusion is kind of cheat code to win battles.
To be fair Bismuth kinda thought Stven was Rose at some point.
