have you ever come across a mcdonald brand tractor ?
Loved Clarkson's Farm, both seasons. I hope that everyone who commented here so positively have been aware of the appalling plight of the Dutch farmers over the last year and the implications for all of us.
Clarkson applied to be Farmer of the Year. He should be. He has done more to educate the public about farming than anyone else ever. Loved this vlog by the way.
Fully agree
Amen.
He's stuffed Countryfile.

The topic is not important to him at all because he will do it with the greatest professionalism, watch his shows about history (there are quite a few on youtube) when he was young

Jeremy is a absolute master Genius , I've always respected Farmers ..However watching Clarkson's farm has made me give a new found respect on a much higher level.
Jeremy is putting farming in Laymans terms and asking the good quistions.
Basicly
Remember his Genius is almost frightening

I grew up farming (not anymore since finishing school and becoming city folk) and i just loved how Clarkson's Farm brought light to how hard it really is. I have talked to friends who grew up in the city about my parents farm and how they are now really successful and they all think it must have been so easy. No work in the winter, just sitting in a tractor all day, making tons of money at harvest, and other stuff that they just assume farming is. The truth is that we were intensely poor though almost all of my childhood. My dad had to work so hard when i was a kid in order to get where they are now. We had to live from food bank boxes. I remember at one time we would have mac and cheese that had weevils in it. My mom would just scrape them off the top of the boiling pot of water. We never had a/c in out house. It was back breaking work that paid almost nothing. there were years when it literally did pay nothing after accounting for costs. You are right that this show is important in that people need to see the struggle of what it takes to keep us all fed. It doesn't matter what it is you are eating; fruit, veg, meat, nuts, dairy, or anything else. Someone had to grow it.
I watched Clarkson’s Farm on the recommendation of a family member. I was really impressed to see someone from outside of agriculture getting familiar with the farming culture and what we all go through every day. The best part is that he’s sharing it with the rest of the world! People don’t know how we take pride in straight rows and that your neighbors will talk about how badly your fields look. We are concerned that our animals are well cared for and the environment is important to us, but the regulations we face often seem utterly stupid and fly in tue face of common sense. We take pride in what we do and we are totally at the mercy of the weather. I wish more people knew how difficult it is to try to decide when to cut hay, when to combine grain . Will it rain when the weather forecast says there’s a 30% chance? It’s a very stressful lifestyle with serious consequences when your wrong. I sure hope they renew for another season but I’ve read that it’s not in the plans for now. Thanks for sharing your observations and drawing more viewers to this program and thanks for helping to educate viewers about farming and equipment. I appreciate all that Messick’s does to help our farming community. Keep up the good work!!!
Second season was confirmed by Jeremy a few days ago

Clarkson does one thing really well on every show he is on, he demonstrates things in exceptional detail by failing miserably at a task. His initial gung ho attitude is almost always met with a humbling experience and most people learn a lot about the real difficulties from his failures. But I think what keeps people watching is his plucky spirit to keep moving forward. He could have given up, and just handed it off to someone to manage, yet he stayed with it, and it makes us want to stay with him. It compels us to want him to succeed, to wish for a happy ending, and then the reality hits home right at the end when you realise exactly what all that hard work was actually worth.
I already had respect for farmers, I know a couple, but this show demonstrated even more how much effort they need to put in just to make ends meet.
OMG, what an excellent program!!! He showed real world farming issues, didn't sugar coat it, just showed what's needed to do it. I'm a rural guy, and I learned things I didn't know. Excellent excellent, bravo Clarkson.
British here: very humbled at seeing the hard work and determination that you farmers go through. Very informative and funny as heck. HAHAH Gerald talking through a mask and through a CB had my falling off the sofa with laughter. SOME SAY he can see at night and he forages through the woods looking for wolves. Others say he's a Gerald!
Thank you Neil for the great overview of the show. As a farmer from Suffolk England we are all in support of Jeremy and what he has done to open the eyes of people so what really goes on and how it is in the world of farming look forward to some more of this in the future. 👍🇬🇧
Good luck to you Ray. Loved the farm show 🇬🇧
I thought he was gonna look at equipment& talk. This is just him reacting. So stupid
Are you from Debenham? (I went to school there)
Hi, good video thank you. His farm is just over 1,000 acres, with 550 acres in crop. British farmers have reviewed Clarkson’s Farm and are generally very supportive. They do say his tractor is an appropriate size for his farm but his implements were too small. It has been noted that he has replaced many of them with larger versions. Looking forward to season 2. P.S. his farm manager, Caleb is very knowledgeable and a hoot!
His equipment size will be limited by what you can legally take onto the public roads and what is also practical to take on the road, speaking as someone who has worked as a truck driver in the farming industry most farms in the UK are on some seriously tiny roads, most rural lanes have high banks and ancient hedgerows that seriously limit accessibility
@@moosic2i Definitely. I love the look and feel of those country roads, but I'm sure it makes the work of farmers with modern equipment far more difficult. In most of America, 550 acres is probably one big field. (IMHO)
It's a real tragedy that Kaleb is going to struggle so much to buy a farm of his own.
Next generations aren't going to own anything, I know, I've tried and tried.
@@moosic2i I live in UK and I've seen farmers driving around with massive equipment on tiny roads.

99% of people that complain about farms/farmers have never lifted more than a fork to feed their pie hole….
Anyone that has gardened even once knows that growing food is hard, let alone doing it for a living. Due to the recent weather in Germany, I've lost all my tomato and potato plants to fungal disease (even while using a mild fungicide to try to save as many as possible), and I don't even want to know how badly potato farmers are affected right now. And Clarkson nailed one thing a bit into the show: If a farmer complains about the weather it's not because he doesn't like it, it's because it threatens his livelihood. And in the end, we're all dependant on farmers. So buy them a pint.
there are farmers, and there are big commercial interests/factory farms. not all are worthy of our respect to the same level

Width of uk roads average 8ft. A white line in the middle means 8 ft either side, giving a 16ft wide, two way, road. In usa it means 12ft either side, 24ft, with most rural usa roads 10ft wide.
@@ps8432 That's true but the habit of Brits building hedgerows and stone walls right next to the road means no shoulder, whereas in America and Australia (where I'm from) you can and usually will drive a tractor on the shoulder most of the time to get out the way of faster traffic. This also allows for more give with wide attachments.

@@horseblinderson4747 No, Clarkson's farm is confirmed for a second season. Clarkson's farm is the highest rated program Amazon have ever made, as its done better than the Grand tour; which is another program with Clarkson. There's footage on youtube from visitors to his farm shop showing that filming for season 2 is already under way.

I agree but that's because Clarkson is a GENUINE presenter and not just another "politically correct" "woke" idiot.
He started out as a cub reporter for local newspaper near family home in Yorkshire. Didn'tdo higher education. He retained the skill to write clearly, precisely, factually, and generously. Local paper reporting is a totally different job from national journalism because you're writing about people and places who know you and you know them, or someone who knows them and you can't get away back to big city
I really enjoyed the epilogue of the show. It spoke right to the heart of many of us, I think. Why you work hard, wake up early, put your boots on, and keep trying.
In our area in southwestern Ontario a very promising crop of wheat has been suddenly turned into feed grade due to several weeks of wet humid weather at harvest time. These events play with ones emotions because as farmers we all don’t take anything for granted but it’s gut wrenching to watch a crop’s potential for profit be lost just as it reaches harvest. Prices for good quality wheat are very good at the moment but being able to take advantage of those prices is now suddenly just a dream. Other places are suffering form once in a century drought and are facing a tough winter. These are the risks of our profession. When you hear a farmer complain it’s more a way for us to vent our frustrations than anything else.
I have watched every episode of Top Gear and Grand Tour. It is fantastic to see Jeremy humbled by the experiences of being a farmer, he really is human.
I am going to say... I bet you haven't seen every episode of Top Gear. It started in 1977 with Angela Rippon, I saw Jeremy Clarkson right from the beginning. It was a different format, but still Top Gear.
Top Gear….me too. At 72 we retired from living aboard a 50’ sailboat (retirement one) and bought 70 acres in northern Wisconsin. This show is a very well done rebranding of our own experiences starting a new farm in the US. We do have a Kubota L4060, but the parallels have been great fun!
Top gear never the same without Jeremy. Hope they do a second season of Clarkson farm

I grew up around farmlands and farmers, but have never understood a lot of what goes into farming until I saw this show. In the same time as being very entertaining, it thought me a lot and made me apreciate the work that farmers do in a whole other way. Respect!
Thank you for reviewing Clarksons Farm, which I would suggest is the most important piece of agricultural TV bar none. Clarkson is the only 5*, fur lined, ocean going idiot, who could get away with some of that, and from a purely farming perspective its painful to watch sometimes. However it deals with the important issues with the ubiquity of food, the effort of field to fork, and the pure enjoyment of farming.
Meanwhile we need to have a chat about the bale shredder and whether it can be containerised for export?????
Jeremy hasn't been part of Top Gear for a while, 2015 was his last year if I am correct. Since 2016 hosted "The Grand Tour" another car program on Amazon Video.
Yes, and since then Top Gear viewership has dropped and The Grand Tour became Amazon's biggest show; until Clarkson's Farm.
At least that's what a guy at a bar told me.
Glad to hear that you are a fan, introduced this program to my in-laws who have been farming for decades and they loved it. And yes, season 2 of Clarksons Farm is a go. Everyone please enjoy!
I enjoy Harry's farm also a great deal. Very informative, and he is also a car journalist.
Watching Clarkson's farm taught me so much about farmers that I never knew. I have much respect for the farmers out there trying to provide for their families and for everyone else. Without them, we wouldn't have anything to eat. simple as that. Big thanks to you guys for talking about what Clarkson is doing. I don't think he even knew how much impact his show would have! Can't wait for season 2!
I loved watching Clarksons Farm. Best thing for me since Catweazel.
Top gear / grand tour is a really good show for your boys as well. It shows that it’s ok to be a bloke, do blokeish things, and make mistakes and laugh at them. It is one of the few shows I will let my boys watch.
I just finished watching Clarkson's Farm and loved it. I agree with what you said, watching it gives you a new perspective of what farming is all about an appreciation for how hard it is. Thanks for the tip, I'll be sharing the show with my friends.
Good on you Neil also doing your part to bring to light the reality of farming today and what it takes. I didn't know about this series but will watch for sure. Thanks.
as a Brit, yes, he has done an excellent job at telling it how it is in a way that the townies will understand. Regarding implement size most people would only have 160/200hp (engine, not drawbar) on a 500 acre farm, for example the Claydon drill (his looks like a 3m version) requires at least 50hp per metre to pull it and is designed to go right in on stubble, not after the cultivator as Jeremy did, sprayer/spreader tramlines are typically 24m.
Really good commentary!
I'm looking forward to the second season.
FYI - I grew up around farmers and am always amazed at how they continue to roll the dice year after year and thank God they do because I do like to eat😉
It was a great show. I binged watched it. I grew up on a farm so great memories came from this show.
Neil, you do for Kubota what Jeremy does with his show!!! I am about to spend alot of $$$ with Kubota and you have been a huge part of that!

The show was so good. I’d love a second season.
Luckily they are already filming a second season!
Thanks for pointing me to Clarkson's Farm! It was really great viewing!
Really enjoyed the show, your comments are all valid. Gerald was a gem.
I have watches several episodes of Clarkson's farm and even though I live in the country I still find it both funny and informative another one is Harry's farm. The problem is in the UK lots of small farms end up being bought up by large investment companies something I do not think should be allowed as with less and less small farms it is getting harder and harder for young people to get into farming except as an employee of some large companie.
A great review. It's heartening to see how well the farming community have taken to it, nice to see that those like yourself are spreading the word to increase public awareness
Brilliant show, and the non farming communities could see what farmers go through.
As for size of machinery, England doesn’t have massive roads to take implements down so we are governed by this
Thanks for the heads up about the Amazon farm series -- as someone who grew up on a farm in SE MN in the 50's I can relate to the changes in agriculture that have occurred in the last 6 decades
Brilliant television! Entertaining, captivating, hilarious and sincere.

And this is how i decided on what i was going to binge watch next, Thanks Neil!
As someone who didn't know diddly squat about farming before this show, it was super educational. He does a good job of giving you a glimpse of the hardships that farmers go through. Shit, I even know what a tramline is now lol.
I love that you are bringing knowledge amid this series.
Good vid, as a city bloke who never thought about food production beyond the shelves of a supermarket, this show was a revelation, I now have huge respect for farmers, to me, it seems more a calling than an upwardly mobile career. Also, though the show was very informative, you left out how entertaining, funny and novelistic the show is with its sagas, characters and little dramas, I'm so glad the show was renewed for S2, Clarkson and Kaleb have become one of entertainment's great comedy duos. I believe they have become great friends IRL.
Thank you for suggesting Clarkson's Farm. I love it and Jeremy is great, as usual!
Thanks for your perspective on Jeremy's farming project.
I am not a Farmer but I come from a long line of them and it was great to see a show like this full of humor but being so totally honest about the trials of farming. I am looking forward to season two. The Grand Tour lads will be doing a show coming up at the end of July where they drive Big American cars through Scotland. Being an American and of Scottish descent this is something I am looking forward to very, very much. :)
The Top Gear/Grand Tour/Clarkson, Hammond and May crew are excellent story tellers and the cinematography is top notch.

Many fires in California became so big because of bad land management. I live in a different high fire area and it took a large fire and damage to our little town for the locals to start taking land management serious. When the next fire threatened our town from a different direction other then we had to evacuate for a week, they were able to get it under control without any property damage.
Thank goodness for honest opinion, and for highlighting the wow’s of farming industry
I've been a automotive product development engineer based in the UK for the past 30 years (& counting), so I've grown up with Top Gear & Clarkson all of my professional life. I had heard about Clarkson's farm but initially didn't bother watching - I mean, how interesting can a program on (yawns for dramatic effect) farming be to a city dwelling automotive engineer? Turn's out that it's been absolutely brilliant viewing! I've ended up watching it twice, once on my own when my wife was away, & then again when she was around & only a few weeks between the two. I eventually watched it as I had several friends & family comment to me that it was good. I think it has a more 'serious' side than any of the TG or GT series, there is a deeper message about farming which non-farming folk like myself don't really think much about, this show does make you think about it though....of course, all this deep meaningful stuff is thinly disguised by the usual Clarkson veneer of 'messing about abit' - but that's a good thing!
I can imagine farmers thinking 'why do I want to watch Clarkson messing about with farming', well, to those folk I say, give it a go, it wont be an education to you like it was to me, but this show is effectively representing the farming world to the urbanites, & for that reason alone, you may want to watch.
one thing the video here missed out, which I think is important, is that Clarkson bought & has owned this farm since ~2008, but had a farmer working it for him. That farmer retired around 2018/2019 & this is where Clarkson said "how hard can it be, I'll do it". It would seem that in the UK farms are exempt from inheritance tax...which the cynical among us, might say was the reason why Clarkson bought a farm in the first place!
This video gives a good over view/taster of the show, well done.
I have asked questions of you from Australia and received amazing responses so for you to give this show such a rap is such a statement of your character and goodwill to the industry that you are not only deriving your living from but have a deep emotional and spiritual connection to and I feel Farming across the world is losing so much land to so many evil forces, some are weeds and Government interference with little or no knowledge of any part of the environment so I do feel that his slapstick comedy ways really highlights the day to day struggles to get things done.
I do also feel that his analysis of operations and issues faced all bring education to those that are very opposed to the farming ethics which have been wrongly publicized and this goes a long way in the future to build to an excellent learning program because I really do think Jeremy's intentions are to really show the truths about farming issues that will allow meaningful change to come that could have serious effects on knowledge being passed on.
SO thank you for your help with my issues from across the world as you have my undying respect and for your taking the time to explain all of this and the values that you see in it and I love Jeremy's miss-match of equipment and the absurd nature of watering a field of Pumpkins at a 1,000 liters a go with a turn around of around 4 to 6 hours, You never know it might catch on there LMAO, I don't think so here HAHAHAHAHA. Thank You again Cheers Garry From Australia
Thanks so much for bringing this aspect to your show Neil! Clarkson hit a nerve, his brilliance will help farmers more than in any other way! Keep up the good work!
I'm hooked. What a fun show to watch. Thanks for sharing.
by the by, I'm not sure if you understood the 'in-joke' they kept having with regards to 'Country File'.
Country file is a BBC farming show that has been on our TVs of a Sunday for decades now.
As an American, if you liked Clarkson's Farm and found it to be mind blowing that such a show would exist on such a platform, then, it may help to understand that the UK, in particular the BBC, has a tradition of producing shows which represent many subsections of society...the way it's funded being a large driving factor behind this.
The reason he keeps having beef with Country File though is that a) It's a BBC show...a corporation he was fired from and b) the show may be a little bit 'wooly' with regards to the aspects of farming that Jeremy was trying to portray.
I love the rivalry between the two, but there’s a clear winner either way. Jeremy’s done more in 8 episodes for the publicity and appreciation for farmers than country file has in all of it’s seasons.
Pretty amusing when Jeremy said “you won’t see that on countryfile” when helping lambing the sheep
@@dragonfire4869 indeed, it may well be the case.
That said, I still think there's a place for both formats.
@@weedfreer there definitely is, I agree. Countryfile is very calm and slow going, which a good number of UK viewers like, whereas clarkson’s farm is wild and all over the place.
Clarkson’s farm has resonated and contributed far more, but countryfile will always be a good show for the casual viewer who just wants something on. A bit like location location location or escape to the country
excellent video.i am from the UK and of course Clarkson is known for his attitude of anything motorised being about Power only. He is in fact known by his co-presenters on top gear as an Ape.
we live about 20 mins from his farm and he has owned the farm for a fey years, someone in the village has farmed the land for a very long time, they decided they were too old and that is was time to stop. Clarkson decided, in his words "how hard can farming be, put some seeds in,watch them grow, harvest and sell them" .
the show follows the progression from "how hard can it be" to Clarkson realising just what is involved.. fantastic show and Clarkson really is taking this farming seriously even with his very very limited knowledge.. well worth a watch..
You touched on the equipment size vs farm size discussing the show ... it might be useful to find or develop charts of what equipment size is generally correctly sized for an operation. A 1950s Ferguson with a two bottom plow and related equipment (or a modern Kubota L-series/equivalent) could handle a ten to twenty acre farm but get a hundred acres and that is a week of plowing, a week of fitting, a week of planting, and by then you're two to three weeks late getting the seeds in the ground. And that's if the weather cooperates and you don't have equipment down for repairs.
A quick edit for you, ‘Jeremy Clarkson, formerly of BBC’s Top Gear, and currently one of three hosts of Amazon’s The Grand Tour; which Clarkson described as “Top Gear in witness protection”.
I really commend you for spotlighting this...... excellent video!

I saw a interview with him about his show and he made it very clear that although he is making a television show, non of it is scripted and since he started farming (he actually does do the farming!) he truly has come to realize how important farming is especially in Great Britain and what the farmers there are going through and I truly think that his show will have a impact on the way the government deals with farming and he will become a mouthpiece for farming there if he hasn’t already! BTW I clicked on this video simply because of your title and now I think I will be watching what you have to say! I also Watch Letsdig18 on CZcams as well and he has a farm as well!
Neil…. The four jets overhead were A-10s from the MD Air National Guard at Martin State Airport. 😂
Great video, I was just in Lancaster last week for vacation and drove past the dealer on my way home. Wanted to stop in but my daughters were very cranky on the way home haha
I love Clarkson's Farm!! before I watch the show, my mindset about farmers was same as Clarkson's "Dig a hole, plant the seeds, then food comes out."
Never did I think I would here Jeremy Clarcksons voice on this channel
I've learned a lot from channels like "Cole the Cornstar" , "Clarkson's Farm" and others and it makes me appreciate the sheer volumes of Farm's in Illinois and seeing which ones are doing well and which ones seem to be struggling. I've always respected Farmer's but these shows really brought that to a whole new level.
