The vegetable oil works perfectly with older diesel vehicles and farming tractors. Just need to get the right ratio of diesel and vegetable oil. And also the temperature right. If it's too cold the oil thickens and will be difficult to start. That's why some of the guys installed a special heater on the fuel line so they heat up the oil to 60-70 degrees Celsius. Old tractors in the summer can work with 75%oil 25% diesel. For cars it's better to do 50-50. My old Opel Astra with the 1.7 dti Y17DT engine runs smoother with 50-50 than with simple diesel. No special equipment installed. Just have to do this when I run on long distance otherwise it will clog up the valves.
